Re: Palworld Dev Announces "Disappointing" Game Changes Resulting From Nintendo's Lawsuit

Arawn93

Also got a laugh that someone here actually used DQ monsters as a “gotcha!” attempt comparison when they don’t remotely look the same to Pokemon. It’s not even remotely the same as the Palworld monster comparison. Which is beside the point since that is not what these patents are going for anyway. It’s the literal 1:1 rips Pocketpair lazily ripped off.

People here being clueless about why Palworld got singled out is obvious. SquareEnix isn’t like Pocketpair. Square Enix did the bare minimum to separate itself. Pocketpair didn’t. Square Enix didn’t 1:1 violate patents. Pocketpair did. Not a hard concept to grasp. With the amount of money/attention the game got at this point there was zero chance of being able to maintain a low profile when it waves the flag of “Pokemon with guns”

People here can list other monster collecting games like Digimon all they want, but none of them violated the patents like Palworld did.

People defending Pocketpair just because they like Palworld because “it’s Pokemon done right” or whatever should know that has zero relevance to the blatant wrongs Pocketpair knowingly committed.

Re: Palworld Dev Announces "Disappointing" Game Changes Resulting From Nintendo's Lawsuit

Arawn93

So much for the people here previously claiming Palworld devs “won’t back down” to Nintendo in a legal battle over blatant patent violations.

Sorry, but as someone that played both no way Palworld was gonna emerge unscathed since lot of their stuff wasn’t just “inspirations”, but literal copies. People here can go “what about X game?!” all day, but what matters is if Palworld violated the patents which they did end of story.

I get lot of you hate Nintendo lately, but Pocketpair IMO deserves even more hate for how creatively bankrupt they are. If the game actually had innovation then Pocketpair wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with, but they wanted to be leeches and see just how much they can get away with.

Re: 'The Hundred Line' Dev Too Kyo Games Is Still "On The Brink Of Going Under"

Arawn93

@Glasso Yup. Don’t care how some people here want to downplay censorship. If there is a version available that has less censorship then I support that version simple as that.

Too bad Nintendo lately been dropping the ball on that front when most of Switch 1 life they were pretty good which was why I never touched Sony versions for example back then.

Re: Opinion: Switch 2 Finally Gives Star Wars Outlaws A Second Chance

Arawn93

Game was a major disappointment. Had high hopes as a SW fan. Game needs a Cyberpunk/No Man Sky level of turnaround bare minimum. It tried to be the Red Dead Redemption Star Wars and came up way too short.

The first Red Dead that came out several years ago to the point that it got a rerelease did a better job as being an outlaw open world game with bullet time mechanics. Hell it’s embarrassing when you see videos comparing RDR2 and Outlaws despite the latter being the newer game. It’s pretty obvious Ubisoft tried to cut corners as usual with their latest batch of open world games

That is the issue with Ubisoft these days. They try to inspire themselves with elements of past successful games, but the end product just feels watered out and mid at best.

It also doesn’t help that the protagonist has the charisma of a wet towel in this game. She is no Han Solo.

People who downplay the criticism/flop of this game usually making the excuse that “it’s because PC is not a Jedi” is clueless. If everything else remained the same, but she can swing around a light saber now and force push it would still be negatively received

All in all I would have been more excited to see RDR2 port on Switch 2 then this game.

Re: Analyst Predicts Record-Breaking Launch Numbers For Switch 2

Arawn93

Anyone thought Switch 2 wasn’t gonna sell just because of a machine being $450 or games being $70-$80 are being completely clueless.

Ton of people will complain for months, but end up caving in the end to buy it because of various reasons like “well I can still afford it” or “it’s not like it was that much cheaper before + it has games I want.”

Re: Major French Retailer Says Switch 2 Pre-Orders At "Historic Level"

Arawn93

Did anyone think otherwise? It was really a vocal minority complaining online about the pricing when it’s all said and done.

Also most of the said complaining wasn’t even about the console being $450 or whatever the region equivalent is. It was about the “$90 games” which is irrelevant toward the hardware purchasing especially if people are gonna treat it like a PS5 and play their old games on it anyway.

Anyone hoping this thing will flop here will be blind as the “experts” that thought the Switch 1 would flop.

Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Is Set To Be Officially Announced Tomorrow

Arawn93

@Antraxx777 You must not have played Oblivion vanilla. It’s nothing like Skyrim for example. In Skyrim if I wanted to be a Stealth Archer, a War Hammer Barbarian, Sword Mage, or be a Pacifist then the game doesn’t actively work against those interests. Just choose the trees you want doesn’t matter if you level up from blacksmith as long you meet thresholds to still develop one-hand if you want to use one hand weapons.

Oblivion does a lot of things right. Even some better than Skyrim. The leveling/scaling wasn’t one of them.

Oblivion leveling is janky as hell with how they did minor/major skill stat rolling + the “don’t level up too early” and the reason the top mods for Oblivion is various changes to the leveling system.

For context in vanilla it’s difficult to even properly build a character direction you are aiming for without a spreadsheet because for example jumping too much at a specific level can mess with a stat build and lead to undesirable results.

Then you factor in with the terrible enemy scaling (Which Morrowind didn’t have) as you level up with those bricked stats where you have a bricked character on significantly harder enemies (level 1 runs was always easier then 30) it can ruin the fun of the run.

If the Freedom Wars Remaster can go back and fix one of its badly aged critical issues (craft system) then it shouldn’t be hard for Oblivion considering there have been mods for years for their level system.

If they don’t want to touch their archaic level system then they definitely NEED to fix the enemy level scaling. Even the people that defends vanilla level system rarely ever defends that. Skyrim scaling was much more balanced for the most part where some enemies scaled, but others didn’t. Lot had caps for said scale as well. Even the scaled enemies was made more bearable though because you had the better level system so your planned character builds can deal with bandits with better gear that can sponge more at that point fine.

Re: Digital Foundry Dives Into Cyberpunk 2077 On Switch 2

Arawn93

The difference between the Switch 2 and portable PC machines like the Steam deck is there is actual port optimization specifically for one machine which tends to lead to better results. It’s easier on the developers of said port to troubleshoot and correct.

If you got two machines of similar enough spec levels, but one version was optimized specifically for one machine then it’s much easier to make said port perform better to squeeze as much juice as you can.

As someone with a SteamDeck there are plenty of non optimal ports that I play on Steam Deck that functions purely just from the raw specs. It leads to less then ideal results when most PC games was not designed for a Steam Deck or whatever in mind. The amount of time I had to tinker or download some MoD fix is a testament to that.

Someone brought up Witcher 3 on Switch. That is an example of what an optimized port was despite much worse hardware specs. In the case of CyberPunk the game definitely was ported without much Steam Deck optimization in mind despite there being a “Steam Deck” mode (which ironically isn’t even an optimal experience for Steam Deck since you would still have to customize to get better frames/stability.)

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

Arawn93

I mean I’ll just skip them like I did with Switch 1. Digital only people here are unable to understand of what actual ownership is and not being tethered to crap. If I wanted to play digital games then I would just play on a Steam Deck lol.

If CyberPunk can be a legitimate physical then so can low memory space games like Bravery Default of all things. Sorry I don’t reward companies with my sale by taking the lowest effort route.

Re: Switch 2 Game Cart Max Capacity Is 64GB, Says CD Projekt Red

Arawn93

No idea why people acting like Switch 1 never had compressions so their game sizes wasn’t remotely as big as the game download of the same game on Steam. Reminder Witcher 3 with both dlc expansions fitted in a 32

Wouldn’t surprise me if the case is the same for S2. Even their “big” games is not really that big. None of these 100+ GB games. I doubt 50+ is gonna get crossed very often.

Re: Nintendo Comments On Mario Kart World's Controversial Price

Arawn93

FYI tbf.. there was similar pushback here when Tears of Kingdom was gonna be announced to be $70 in a $60 market. People still bought the game in droves and forgot about the $10 difference in the end because they self justified the game was worth the extra money.

There is nothing to suggest this won’t happen with this game as well with a $80 game in a $70 market. It’s open world Mario Kart that seems to be ambitious. A vastly improved Paradise.

Re: The Switch 2 Won't Have Achievements Or eShop Music

Arawn93

Probably the most worthless additions so I wouldn’t care either way. Achievements/trophies are just arbitrary/artificial imposed conditions to make it feel you didn’t “complete” the game if you didn’t unlock them all. Lot of them are just wasteful grinding as well. Flexing achievement scores shouldn’t be a priority for Nintendo.

Also Eshop music…? People actually pay attention to that crap especially when lot of people just buy their games on a PC Eshop since it’s faster?

How about putting your own music or at least Nintendo themed music BACK as home screen customization features if we are talking about music?

Re: Opinion: Oh No, I'm Not A Fan Of Switch 2's Mouse Mode At All

Arawn93

@FantasiaWHT Detachable joy cons is actually not a gimmick. It has some actual gameplay boon applications besides just being an alternative way for one person to play.

For example it lets one person with one Switch still play local multiplayer with another person on the same machine since the joy cons can act as two “controllers”. That gives the system extra versatility if you and a family member/friend/whatever waiting for a flight or whatever and want to play multiplayer despite owning one system. I seen people play Smash Ultimate that way. It’s obviously not “optimal” compared to if two switches was present, but it’s nice to have the option then not at all.

Re: Nintendo Appears To Have Given Its Game Cases A Makeover On Switch 2

Arawn93

The boxart design layout is so much worse than the Switch 1 ones. Luckily I don’t care too much how the box art presents itself. That is like a distant secondary issue since I’m more concerned if the “physical” actually has a legit cartridge or not.

SE is stupid for not going the cartridge route for a small game like Bravery Default yet CyberPunk is getting an actual cartridge.

Re: Switch 2 Was Very Nearly Called 'Super Nintendo Switch'

Arawn93

People acting like Super Nintendo Switch was a good name probably thought the Wii U was a good name too. I can already see bunch of non informed consumers skip it because they think it’s just another Switch upgrade.

End of the day you want your name to be clear and concise to the consumers that it’s a new system which is numbered iteration accomplishes.

Re: FromSoftware's 'The Duskbloods' Looks Like Bloodborne 2, Coming To Nintendo Switch 2 In 2026

Arawn93

@LeJuiceCup He can cook all day, but if he is gonna serve fish to people that don’t eat fish then it’s all moot.

Still don’t know what the audience this game is for. Traditional Nintendo gamers won’t touch it, Lot of FS fans isn’t gonna own a S2 so they won’t touch it by default, even the FS fans that will potentially own a S2 (like me) is turned off by the genre choice.

Sorry, but unless he updates that the game has a single player component (there is a lot of time until release) then I see the game EoS pretty fast. Just a weird FS release right after ER.

Re: Uh Oh, Switch 2's Home Screen Looks Just As Bland As We Feared

Arawn93

Sorry it looks like crap.

Don’t care what the “less is more!” minimalistic huffing people think. For the price Nintendo asks…you would think less people would give them a pass of a bare minimum/plain effort.

Why can’t we go back to how they did 3DS? You actually could customize. The “you don’t use homescreen anyway!” people here could still ignore the homescreen while the rest of us actually enjoy it again.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Priced At $449.99 For The Base Console

Arawn93

Wild for me that people actually think base PS5 has more “value” just because of likely better specs. Did those people literally fall asleep on why the Switch 1 was so valued for customers?

People bought the systems for the robust 1st party exclusives + portability feature. Both what PS5 lacks.
