Re: Shuntaro Furukawa: Switch Successor Will Utilise The 'Nintendo Account' System

Please understand, whilst we will utilise existing accounts, each one will need to be manually transferred over to the 'New Nintendo Account'. This process will require the use of the Nintendo Switch Online Application, which you will firstly have to upgrade / transfer over to the 'New Nintendo Online Application'. Don't worry though, as this process will feature adorable little Pikmin carrying across your data and will make your old console a paperweight, just like the Wii to Wii U process. Please note, all cloud saves will not be compatible because we have no idea how to offer this service until 2 years after launch, but you will be entitled to a free copy* of Balloon Fight (*free copy will be distributed as part of the 'New Nintendo Online Subscription' which is not to be confused with the old Nintendo Online Subscription)

@RetroGames I agree - it's everything it needed to be; a well crafted fun adventure that never outstays its welcome. Not a massive fan of Illumination's previous entries, but I think the writers / creators did an incredible job. I suspect it helped that Miyamoto was on board to make sure it doesn't stray from the formula and retains that Nintendo magic.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Let's be honest, this Phillips CDI remake even fails to create the magic and splendour of Balan Wonderworld.... probably.
Yehhhhhh, I haven't played it yet. Still need to finish off BotW! Does make me wonder if a Switch successor is in the pipeline for the next year or two and whether it would run better on that (assuming backwards compatibility & some sort native upscale tech / patch for major games)

Very nice, but I do wish things like this would be kept under wraps for those only just receiving their copy. I don't want all those magic moments spoilt by reading dozens of headlines, so maybe consoldiate them into compilations and try not to give too much away in a headline. I realise this is a minor thing in this case, but I want to keep visting your awesome site without fear of spoilers during these next few weeks ^_^

Re: Nintendo Switch Successor Chip Rumours Are Doing The Rounds Again

@Almighty-Koz considering that XBSX and PS5 can barely do 4K at 60FPS, without sacrificing graphical fidelity in some form, I doubt that power is ever going to be high priority for Nintendo. They do however use modern technology, but they are more focused on innovative & cost effective tech they can reproduce and sell to the masses. Personally, I would be very happy if the Switch successor system had the power for constant 1080p, 60FPS and decent anti-aliaising.

FYI - Even after March 27, 2023, and for the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to redownload games and DLC, receive software updates and enjoy online play on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
In summary, get the games and DLC you want before the cut-off, but don't worry about updating all of your games, especially if you haven't bought your physical game you've been longing for yet (I'm looking at you Yokai Watch 3)

Re: Saudi Arabia's PIF Is Reportedly Now Nintendo's Biggest Outside Investor

This is not something new - there are all sorts of unsavoury trust fund structures with fingers in many, many pies. I took a look at a few in in my time in Trust & Corporate & by Waluigi, it's very scary. The proposed Microsoft merger with Activision is but a mere drop in the water compared to the stuff I've seen & I bet what I've seen is tame compared to the stuff going on behind the scenes.

Re: Video: Everything The February 2023 Nintendo Direct Didn't Tell You

People seem to forget that manufacturers are still struggling with chip shortages after Covid. I highly doubt that a Switch Succesor will enter production before 2024, so a 2025 release year is more probable.
Also, with the state of the world with war & looming recession amongst other issues, I think Nintendo will be very careful when they choose to release the next console. They have a wealth of back catalogue titles and other games waiting in the wings that will tie them over until then.

Re: Video: One Month In, What Are Your Predictions For The Switch's 2023?

sikthvash

A fairly quiet release schedule after ZTotK, with one or two nice surprises from third parties. After the closure of Wii U & 3DS shops, I suspect we might a see a few entires like Mario vs. Donkey Kong & Doctor Mario / Luigi pop back in to existence & another re-hash of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon in Q4. Doubt very much we will get any major releases like Pikmin 4, Metroid 4, but we might be lucky and get a few ports / remasters like the Metroid Trilogy and Wind Waker to fill some gaps.
