Re: Review: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (Switch) - A Near-Royal Return For The Addictive Monster-Catching Spin-Off

The game looks like an upscaled 3DS game at points - not a problem, the aesthetics are charming, the colours are vibrant, and it has this sort of PS2 / PS3 retro charm to it, which is all fine and dandy.
Textures are flat and blurry & there's noticeable pop in - again, not super bothered, as one can ignore these when the gameplay is good, which thankfully it is!
Load times - patience, not at all bothered.
The FPS chugs along like your running through treacle.... ah, this one I can't ignore as it hinders enjoying the open segments / environments. This is inexcusable considering we can see it done properly in pretty much all first party games and many others to boot. Something tells me this is poorly optimised and rushed out the door for a quick sale. Luckily, I highly doubt the devoted DQ fans would not let their voices be heard, so hopefully a few patches will tidy things up. For now, I'm going to shelve it.
Hopefully Tose can sort this out as they are an accompished developer with a rich history of gems.

Re: Talking Point: What Are The Worst Parts Of Your Favourite Games?

There's plenty to choose from, but I'll stick to Ninty games here:
Splatoon 3 - every single ride rail mission in the single player campaign that requires precision shots to destroy the targets.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Rainbow road (various iterations).... 200cc... yeh....
Breath of the Wild - 900 Korok seeds...900! And to top it all of... no specific spoilers yeh... it's absoluetly pointless after a set amount, but for a completionist, it's very annoying.
As for other games, as a general rule of thumb, I hate when you have to fight multiple bosses in a row with no checkpoints, usually rehashes of previous bosses, or ridiculous platforming sections during a big boss battle and one simple incorrectly timed button press can send you right back to the start.

Re: Video: Where Does Mario Kart Go From Here?

New tracks / racers based on Nintendo IP, like Kirby, Kid Icarus, Pikmin etc.
Track editor!
New multiplayer modes with more courses (and a return of Block Fort!)
Weather, course hazards & maybe random / rogue elements added into specific racing / survival mode to mix things up a bit.
Weekly / monthly challenges to unlock kart customisation, keep us coming back for new unlockables - ties in with collecting coins during races to spend on cosmetics maybe? (absolutely no loot boxes etc, just in game currency)

Re: Talking Point: Which Zelda Game Should Be Adapted For The Movie?

@Aneira Oh don't mind me, I'm just be my usual dimwitted self rather than having a dig at you fist bumps I knew what you were aiming for ^_^ Apologies if my post came across as condescending.
Hopefully, the film won't stray too far from the source material with Miyamoto at the helm, but I imagine it will be its own thing with just references to many of the games to tick all the right boxes.

@dkxcalibur I have to agree with you bud - I tried Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing & subsequent offerings, but couldn't get used to how the vehicles felt. I also thought the majority of the courses and items were lacklustre compared to MK. I know some love it though, so I'm glad it has its fans.
I did used to love Street Racer on the Mega Drive, but the graphics and experience haven't aged well compared to the wonders of Mode 7.

Re: Reaction: What's Your Gut Feeling On The Zelda Movie News?

I can picture the trailer now..
Present day New York, goofy sophomore stumbles across a magical ocarina during orchestra recital and gets transported to Hyrule Castle. Now, disoriented & fully clothed in the legendary green hero tunic, he hears someone humming a tune (the audience recognises this as the melody of the Hyrule Royal Family, Zelda's lullaby) & he stumbles into Princess Zelda's dressing room where she angrily shouts 'Well, EXCUSE ME!' & throws a clay pot at the door..
Stereotypical deep announcer voice Next summer, you'll experience a Link between worlds... & it will be dangerous to go alone...

Re: Newly Discovered Nintendo Filing Shows Off "Dual-Screen, Detachable Device"

This notion of 4K 60FPS needs to stop - expectations are way too high, especially seeing as XBSX and PS5, for the most part, can't handle this. I'd be very happy with 1080p & 60FPS. Realistically, the specs for a Switch 2 are likely to utilise Nvidia's Ampere architecture, so expect specifications somewhere around the base Xbox One or PS4 at best, which is more than enough for a portable / docked hybrid. Let's just focus on the fun factor & quality first party releases (& pretty please with sugar on top, backwards compatibility with some smoothness updates for old titles struggling to reach 30FPS)
