Re: Video: A Look Back On The Switch's First Year Of Life

@johnedwin It would be a lovely surprise, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I would think Nintendo will wait & ride out the major manufacturing / chip shortages before commiting to a new model, plus they know the existing models sell well due to the huge library of games. Would love to be proved wrong though ^_^

Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Being Eyed Up For A Potential Takeover

They've fought off a takeover from Vivendi / Tencent a few years ago, so I'm interested to see what the plan is now. I say interested, but it's more trepidation as takeovers never have the consumers best interests at heart. Anyone who takes Ubisoft on will need to bleach the bad smells and working practices left behind by previous managment; hope they take a serious stance on ridding the misogyny / toxicity.

Re: Video: Let's Dissect The New Splatoon 3 Trailer

@HenHiro considering we know so little about it, it's hard to quantify how much of it is the same as the previous titles; I think we need to wait for a proper direct before anyone gets too pessimistic. What we do know is that there will be a new campaign, new weapons, new MP levels & new gear, whilst improving some elements of Salmon Run. I think it's safe to say there's a lot more information to be shared as there's likely to be all sorts of new stuff added (hoping a better lobby system for friends)
I do wish Splatfests in the second game could have gone on a bit longer, even it was once a quarter.

Square Enix: When we say Remastered / HD, what we mean is run the pixels through a smooth filter.
Fans: Oh. Can I at least have a semi-decent font for the reamastered text in this release please?
Square Enix: OK, OK OK! Jeez, just this once though OK? Here, have it in Times New Roman. Just be thankful it's not comic sans, but we're taking away the old OST privileges.
Fans: 😔

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023

@Ambassador_Kong 40 years ago? That's a bit of an exaggeration. There are of course exceptions, sure: No Mans Sky, Cyberpunk, pretty much the entire modding scene for multiple games like ME Andromeda (Thanks community!)... the list goes on and on, but if it's bad off the bat and doesn't deliver what it promised initially, then there's still this element that once tarnished with a bad review or poor first impression, it tends to stick & will likely hurt sales and faith in a developer / publisher. I'd rather see development cycles avoid the crunch, take the time required to make as good as possible for launch than rush an unfinished hot mess (FYI I wouldn't necessarily call any of the examples we've listed as a hot mess, but light on content & buggy, which can all be solved with updates for sure).

@BlackenedHalo I don't think that statement from Shigeru Miyamoto can really apply to the odd few games that transcend a lacklustre start. As you know, FF14 has been out for 12 years & received numerous overhauls in terms of content; it's an ever evolving MMO. You couldn't release a single player Zelda game and expect players to wait 12 years for it to get eventually good.

Re: Round Up: The Rune Factory 5 Reviews Are In

@Specters I was mostly lucky as I didn't have any real noticieable problems at launch with Elden Ring. I had a couple of issues of pop-in and maybe two stutters upon loading from a Site of Grace, but only in certain areas. Obviously, it was poorly optimised at launch & those with different hardware combinations and specs are going to have a myriad of different results. It could of course be I didn't sink enough hours in, but I had done a lot of exploring of Limgrave & Caelid in the intial 12 hours.
Maybe RF5 will eventually get ported to PC. Would be interested to see how it runs on an emulator compared to switch.

Re: Kit And Krysta Reveal Their Least Favourite Mario And Zelda Games

sikthvash

Here's my list, for what it's worth:
Best Zelda: BotW (Twilight Princess is a close second for me)
Worst Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - I really enjoyed some aspects, but the controls and the repetitive nature of the Temple of the Ocean King just kills it (I'm excluding obvious entires here like Tri-Force Heroes)
Best Mario: This is a super tough decision... but it's got to be Mario 64
Worst Mario: Super Mario Sunshine... it's a marmite game; you either love it or loathe it. I'm in the latter camp. I hated the mechanics, controls, the layout of the levels & the setting & characters were bland with little variation. It all felt a bit like busy work cleaning up Isle Delfino.
