As much as I'd like to play Kart and DK, I can't justify buying a Switch 2 yet. I'd also like to play Metroid but technically I could play that on the Switch.
Instead, I'll wait a little longer before making the purchase.
Absolutely not. I have a nice collection of Amiibos at home. But I refuse to pay the current prices, I don't care what state the economy is in. The DK one is really cool.....but not at $30!
@Ogbert I 100% agree with you! I recently played through the COD Modern Warfare 2 Remake campaign because I needed a linear experience. Previous to that, I've been on a run of deep open world games and I needed to take a break from that. So, I totally get you!
I do want to check this game out though. I have some friends that really enjoyed it.
I played it. I wanted to keep playing because of the story and main characters but I couldn't. I personally think the game doesn't live up to the hype....but maybe that's just me. I found the combat portion to be annoying, I dreaded every encounter. The world seems sort of empty. The graphics received a lot of praise but the world always seemed hazy to me, and the enemies boring visually.
I was really digging the story though. I may revisit it in the future and play through quickly on "Story Mode". The reason I stopped completely is that there are many many other games I haven't played that I don't need to do this in order to enjoy the game, so I'll just play those instead.
I don't own a Switch 2 yet. The primary reason is that I don't "need" one at the moment. I have many games yet to play on the systems/PC I currently own........BUT, with must-play games like this coming out, it makes me want one ASAP!
The first time I saw the trailer for this game, I was excited for Switch 2. This was the game I didn't see coming. For those who are already S2 owners: Go Bananas! and I'm jealous!
I finally got a chance to play on a friend's S2 over the weekend and give Kart a try. I don't know how I feel about it. There's something about it that doesn't grab my attention the way 8 did. Unless I was able to really put a good chunk of time into it, I wouldn't say for certain. BUT, there is no way this is a 0/10 or 1/10. Any score that low is insanity IMO.
I will say this, a lot of people are posting stuff specifically about EA like they're the only company that does this. Take a look around. It's every major corporation. We all buy stuff from these corporations and many of us work for them too. I'm not justifying it. It sucks! I'm just saying.....
Most of the time when the same CEOs get fired, they get compensated with millions in company stock. I always find that news to be despicable. Hey do a terrible job that effect lots of people. We'll lay them off and reward you.
As bad as CEOs are, imagine what the board room is making!
I'd like one. I'm not getting one on launch day as I don't feel I "need" one immediately. Although I love Mario K and I'll be extremely jealous that I won't be able to play it. I honestly don't feel there's enough at launch to warrant the purchase, but that's my opinion.
I love the product......but not at the price. Maybe if I see this make it to a clearance shelf someday. But with it being a Nintendo product, I highly doubt that will ever happen.
I'm sure it's just a matter of time until Gamepass goes up in price, but for now, I couldn't be happier subscribing to Gamepass Ultimate. I'm gaming more than I have in years. It's great value at a time when things aren't looking great....not just with the gaming industry.
I'm not going to say their games are trash like others on here, because they're not trash. I've had fun playing EA games over the years.
But I will 100% agree with the comments pointing out that EA's games tend to lean heavy with microtransactions so it wouldn't make sense to charge a higher fee that may take away from that strategy.
Gear of War is a fantastic game. The reason this is being done for a third time is purely to get it on the PS5. Everything that I've read is that it's basically the Ultimate Version that released around 10 years ago, but with some performance updates.
Hopefully this also gets release in some form on the Switch.
I got a great deal on a Xbox Series X back in November. I've been playing it non-stop since then. There are currently great games being released for the system. I haven't touched my Switch since January.
I have a huge backlog of games on that system that I don't have time to get to. I'm currently playing through Indiana Jones. I think it's great! Then I'm finally moving onto South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, or Elder Scrolls Remastered. I'm also taking advantage of Gamepass Ultimate, which at the moment is really good value....but I'm sure that will go up in price soon too.
The dimensions make it obvious, but to be honest, I never even thought of this. Now that I have, I think they should have made it work with both. It would have been really cool to have just one base work with both systems.
I stopped preordering and worrying about buying stuff many many years ago. Once it's out, if I happen across one in the wild and have the money, I'll pick one up. As much as I'd like to own one, I'm also very happy with my Switch as well as Xbox Gamepass Ultimate. I have too many games waiting for me at the moment anyways.
My sons and I miss this feature so much! We used to carry our 3DS systems everywhere we went. Every time we returned home, we looked forward to seeing who we passed. We would actually read the other person's interest and liked seeing what games they were playing. Of course getting that missing puzzle piece was always exciting too.
I actually just purchased the LG C4 77" recently. I extensively researched before buying anything. I honestly thought the Sony and Samsung comparable sets were very similar, but because of the track record of Samsung phones not holding up for me and because I have many family members with broken Samsung, I ruled them out early. The Sony set was great when I checked it out, but the LG was equal IMO, but with way more features and better reviews. In addition, all of the LG products we've ever purchased have lasted a very long time. Our other 2 much older LGs still work. We finished out basement and needed a TV. I have a Xbox Series X and one of our Switch bases connected. It's been awesome.
@darylb24 again.....he's not saying that Sony is better or that they don't do this. It's actually the opposite. He's saying that in his opinion, this is not what Nintendo typically does.
Now I personally disagree with him because Nintendo does do this! But just to be clear, he's admitted that non-Nintendo companies just improve on the previous system.
@mikegamer Absolutely! Just to be clear, I agree. I was just pointing out that your original comment tried to make it out like he was saying that Sony doesn't do this.
@mikegamer To be fair, he's not saying that Sony is better. He said that this is what other companies do. He's saying that in his opinion, this is out of character for Nintendo.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.......but, I think his is a stretch. There's nothing different about Nintendo's approach this time. They've done it before, and for longer than Sony has in the video game industry. It's not like every system they put out is some crazy new system.
I think the argument could be made for some of the decisions that they've made.
@RubyCarbuncle I 100% agree! I'm sure he does have some adults in his audience, but I'm willing to bet that the majority of his fans are below the age of 18, probably 10-15.
I could be completely wrong, but his job is creating content. It may not be mine or many other user's preferred entertainment, but I'm sure there's an audience for this.......and that's how he earns money!
I don't care that it's priced low. It still leaves a terrible bitter taste in my mouth after that direct. Are they really going to make or lose a lot of money if this game was free? I don't think so. So they decide to charge and put a low price on it because at that much, people will say, "sure, I spent more for my lunch today".
I "HATE" that Nintendo is selling this game at any price! Ridiculous.
I find it very weird how Nintendo is choosing to put different prices on games. Is this based on how much time went into the games or is it based solely on the fact that it's a heavy hitter and they know people will buy it? I understand that live sporting events have been basically doing this for years. If you're team is playing a derby or a rival or a popular team, most likely the price for those games will be more than when they play the bottom of the table/standings teams.
I don't like the higher price of games for the obvious reasons, but I'm not surprised. I'm not making excuses or justifying it, but hasn't the price gone up on most things?
In comparison, if my family of 4 go see the Minecraft movie this weekend, we'll spend 70+ for a 2 hour experience. At $80, if we were to put 80 hours into the game, it provides significant entertainment value even at the elevated price. I try to put a value on entertainment. I also understand that the system and additional controllers, as well as the online subscription also cost money. For that reason, I'm fairly confident that for the first time since the Gamecube (I went with the dreamcast that generation and later purchased the GC and PS2), I won't be purchasing a Nintendo system on day one.
This looks really cool. I'd be concerned about what the Nintendo one has that this one doesn't.
Overall, the camera is a really cool feature if you have friends/family members who also have it and buy into it. It could be really cool. But my gut instinct is that this won't be heavily used in future games and the user base will be small, so the use of this device will eventually just be gathering dust. I hope I'm wrong. I also think it should be included with the Switch 2 at the price that they are selling it for.
I think it looks amazing. It's the system seller for me at this point. I'm not sold on Kart's open world yet, and technically I could just play MP4 on my current Switch. But this new DK game looks awesome, and the trailer made me hyped to play it someday.

But what will actually happen is that this will be overpriced so the userbase will be small and this social side that they put a lot of focus on during the direct will see less support than it deserves.
wasn't there already something like this for the Switch and Club House Games? I'm very certain that we own one copy, then downloaded a free app that allowed us to play locally on the other 2 systems with one card. Called Guest or something??
I love this feature. It shouldn't be on "select", it should be on all games.

I'm also trying to stay open minded too. Let's see what the details are at the MK direct.
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?
I gave it a 7/10. The system and it's new features look cool. The gameshare feature looks promising, the new social tools look nice if they actually get used, I really want to play Mario Kart World and the new DK game, the release date is very soon!, and third party titles look great.
I gave it less points because the presentation glitched at one point, the price (it wasn't even in the presentation) was higher than I would like it, the camera is sold separately, the tech demo game is not included, and there was a lot of emphasis on having to re-purchase games and/or re-releases.
If the camera and tech demo game were included at $400, I would be less critical of the price being higher.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera Puts You Into The Game For Multiplayer Fun
This could be cool. It should be included at the price they're selling this for and because they're making the "C" button a big highlight of the new system. But what will actually happen is that this will be overpriced so the userbase will be small and this social side that they put a lot of focus on during the direct will see less support than it deserves.
