I played this when it released on Xbox. It was my "game of the year", that year. I strongly recommend it. Although some may not see it the same way. There may not be enough action for some gamers.
I'm still a Nintendo fan who hasn't pulled the trigger on the Switch 2. It was just something about the original high price that irked me. The game library hasn't swayed that feeling either. Star Fox is the first game that's calling my name and making me really think about the purchase. It's a game that's been re-released before, and I own that one too, but I just love this game. The new version looks amazing.
Other than that, I'm not blown away by anything; and now they increase the price? I really did think about buying one this past weekend, but I chose to wait for now.
I was holding out for better reasons to buy the Switch 2. I just don't feel that there are any games currently that I "NEED" to play at the moment. I know there will eventually be.
Now I'm thinking about skipping the Switch 2. It pains me to say that.
If they pulled this off, I'm impressed! I played this on my Xbox Series X when it came out and it was my game of the year. I was hooked from beginning to end. Everything about it was really good. It may be too slow paced for some games but I found the story and exploration to be highly entertaining.
I personally love my series "X". I got it right before prices went up. I've had an active GP Ultimate subscription the entire time. During this time I've gamed more than I have in years. I play most of the Indies on my PC and the bigger games on my "X". I stacked months when they announced that the prices were going up. I have mere weeks left on that stack. After that, I will reevaluate my options. Many of the games they have under their control are some of my favorites. Supposedly they're in discussion about the prices for GP being too high. Hopefully they come down in price or at least add different option.
As for Nintendo, I'm still hanging tight with my Switch. I've had no desire to purchase a Switch 2. In my opinion, there are 3 games that tempt me, and 1 of those games I could play on the OG Switch. Like usual, most of the third party games play better on other systems. So until Nintendo drops enough 1st party games that really peaks my interest, I won't be buying the Switch 2.
I agree. I believe Nintendo, even when they're not successful, they are at least ALWAYS interesting. Xbox's systems and PS's systems are boring in comparison; in my opinion.
I think Xbox needs to reevaluate the Gamepass Ultimate pricing. They seem to be doing this internally. Hopefully it comes down in price. If it does, that and the Microsoft games are it's strength. I was loving GP Ultimate at it's previous price point. When it went up in price, I stacked months at the old price. When that runs out in a couple weeks that will be it for me.
On a side note: My preference is always the Xbox controllers. I think they're the best.
I absolutely loved this game when it was released on Xbox. It was probably one of my favorite games that year. The combat does grow a bit stale but in my opinion, it's such a small part of this game. The music, atmosphere, character design, bosses, art style, and story are all excellent. If the graphical issues that are called out in this review are minor, I would strongly recommend this to Switch 2 owners.
I'm excited to see the movie. I might actually go to the theatre for this one. I haven't been to a movie since seeing the Bob Marley movie in Liverpool while on vacation. I really enjoyed the first Mario movie.
As for these promotional items: 2 thumbs up for the bobblehead, it would fit in well with my Amiibos. No desire for the popcorn bucket.
I like this approach. I think it's too late for Switch 1, and you can't go back in time and fix earlier mistakes so having a higher bar with Switch 2 makes sense to me.
With some of the really great indie games to come out over the last 10+ years, how can this be a negative thing?
People want the next Nintendo Direct, to announce the next big 1st party game, I get it! But come on! Some of my favorite gaming experiences in the last 10 years have been indie games.
I don't own a Switch 2 yet, but I also don't double dip either. So I wouldn't be buying this again.
Fallout 4 is awesome! I do like Fallout 3 better, but it's like comparing an Oreo to a chocolate chip cookie....they're both good! For those who missed out on Fallout because you've only ever gamed on a Nintendo System, here's your chance. Buy it!
My youngest son has enjoyed every game since X/Y but he's never played anything older. I would love to play these with him but spending $40 to do so is ridiculous. The entertainment value would bet worth it. I know we'd both put 30-40 hours in to these, so it basically comes down to fifty cents per hour. That's not bad!
BUT, this is more about the principle of what Nintendo is doing. My opinion echoes what many many others have already posted.
This is the best lineup of pokemon in my opinion, too many great designs to pick from!
I'll go Chespin only because I thought he was awesome in the cartoon.
I really like Froakie & Greninja, Fletchling & both evolutions, Vivillon, Pancham, Honedge & Doublade, Malamar, Heliosk, Noivern, and I thought both Xerneas and Yveltal were really good.
I have not purchased a Switch 2 yet. I have not had the "need" to buy it yet. I would like to play Kart, Kong, and Prime but none of those are making me want to shell out $450+ at the moment.
Now this talk of a price increase sort of does sort of doesn't. I think for me, I'll either buy one soon, or I will skip this system. A price increase, even if it is warranted, will not make me want to buy one more, obviously.
@PinderSchloss I couldn't agree more with you. I'm really thinking hard about buying a Switch 2 before a potential price increase, but nothing listed or guessed by others, is making me want a Switch 2.
I think we'll see Microsoft drop a few items or update a few dates for previously announced games. I'm going to go with a COD game for Switch and a date for Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones is awesome; but I wouldn't buy it again. Maybe 1 or all 3 Obsidian games that released last year?
I'm guessing we'll get something from both Atlus and Square.
I've already played Blue Prince; it's terrific. But I won't buy it again. It's silly if this doesn't come to Nintendo.
I also played Expedition 33. I know I'm going to get blasted, but I found it to be overrated. Like Blue Prince, it would be silly if this didn't come to Nintendo. I think it would do really well.
@deezcronuts That's where I'm at! I really could live without a Switch 2 at the moment. I want to play Kart, Kong, and Metroid; but I could also wait. My original plan was to wait until that one game comes out that I can't resist, and jump into it with a backlog of a few earlier released games. Now I'm getting the itch to buy now to avoid paying more later.
God forbid the shareholders don't make as much as they said they wanted. This isn't just the video game industry, this is how the entire world operates; and it all starts at the top with the shareholders. Then because they made less than they wanted, we'll just fire some people at the bottom and up our prices!
I've been personally holding out on purchasing a Switch 2 because I'm not dying to play anything specifically at the moment. I "want" to play Kart, Kong, and Metroid but I don't "need" to at the moment...but now there's talk of the Switch 2's prices going up. Do I buy now????
Wow what a great game they added! This might be my favorite title from the series. This doesn't apply to me currently, but for all of you who it does; ENJOY!
As much as I'd like to play Kart and DK, I can't justify buying a Switch 2 yet. I'd also like to play Metroid but technically I could play that on the Switch.
Instead, I'll wait a little longer before making the purchase.
Absolutely not. I have a nice collection of Amiibos at home. But I refuse to pay the current prices, I don't care what state the economy is in. The DK one is really cool.....but not at $30!
@Ogbert I 100% agree with you! I recently played through the COD Modern Warfare 2 Remake campaign because I needed a linear experience. Previous to that, I've been on a run of deep open world games and I needed to take a break from that. So, I totally get you!
I do want to check this game out though. I have some friends that really enjoyed it.
I played it. I wanted to keep playing because of the story and main characters but I couldn't. I personally think the game doesn't live up to the hype....but maybe that's just me. I found the combat portion to be annoying, I dreaded every encounter. The world seems sort of empty. The graphics received a lot of praise but the world always seemed hazy to me, and the enemies boring visually.
I was really digging the story though. I may revisit it in the future and play through quickly on "Story Mode". The reason I stopped completely is that there are many many other games I haven't played that I don't need to do this in order to enjoy the game, so I'll just play those instead.
I don't own a Switch 2 yet. The primary reason is that I don't "need" one at the moment. I have many games yet to play on the systems/PC I currently own........BUT, with must-play games like this coming out, it makes me want one ASAP!
The first time I saw the trailer for this game, I was excited for Switch 2. This was the game I didn't see coming. For those who are already S2 owners: Go Bananas! and I'm jealous!
I finally got a chance to play on a friend's S2 over the weekend and give Kart a try. I don't know how I feel about it. There's something about it that doesn't grab my attention the way 8 did. Unless I was able to really put a good chunk of time into it, I wouldn't say for certain. BUT, there is no way this is a 0/10 or 1/10. Any score that low is insanity IMO.
I will say this, a lot of people are posting stuff specifically about EA like they're the only company that does this. Take a look around. It's every major corporation. We all buy stuff from these corporations and many of us work for them too. I'm not justifying it. It sucks! I'm just saying.....
Most of the time when the same CEOs get fired, they get compensated with millions in company stock. I always find that news to be despicable. Hey do a terrible job that effect lots of people. We'll lay them off and reward you.
As bad as CEOs are, imagine what the board room is making!
I'd like one. I'm not getting one on launch day as I don't feel I "need" one immediately. Although I love Mario K and I'll be extremely jealous that I won't be able to play it. I honestly don't feel there's enough at launch to warrant the purchase, but that's my opinion.
I love the product......but not at the price. Maybe if I see this make it to a clearance shelf someday. But with it being a Nintendo product, I highly doubt that will ever happen.
I'm sure it's just a matter of time until Gamepass goes up in price, but for now, I couldn't be happier subscribing to Gamepass Ultimate. I'm gaming more than I have in years. It's great value at a time when things aren't looking great....not just with the gaming industry.
I'm not going to say their games are trash like others on here, because they're not trash. I've had fun playing EA games over the years.
But I will 100% agree with the comments pointing out that EA's games tend to lean heavy with microtransactions so it wouldn't make sense to charge a higher fee that may take away from that strategy.
Gear of War is a fantastic game. The reason this is being done for a third time is purely to get it on the PS5. Everything that I've read is that it's basically the Ultimate Version that released around 10 years ago, but with some performance updates.
Hopefully this also gets release in some form on the Switch.

@Chimichanga They are. South of Midnight was awesome on the Xbox. Indiana Jones is coming soon right? It too, is an awesome game.
Are you looking for Forza, Gears, or COD?

Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase February 2026: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer
There are some great games coming to Nintendo that haven't been there before. I think it was a great showing.
Indiana Jones in one of my favorite games I played last year. I'm happy Switch 2 owners will be able to play it.
I'm a huge Fallout fan. I thought Fallout 4 was really good. Did I play it as much as 3? Probably not. But it's really good.
Bomberman is worth owning on Nintendo solely for the local multiplayer.
Wow! Orbitals looks incredible. That one is on my radar for sure.
