Re: Overwatch 2 Announces Its First Ever Anime Collab, Available In Season 3

dkxcalibur

I played a ton of Overwatch. Once Overwatch 2 was released, I gave it a fair chance. I wasn't going to bash it because it was Blizzard or because it was free to play. I played it for a few weeks but lost interest. This is a sequel that is not as good as the first, in my opinion. The worst part is that I purchased the first game and can't play it anymore. That's the shadiest thing about the series that people don't really talk about.

Re: Nintendo Wins "Switch Joy-Con Drift" Class Action Lawsuit

dkxcalibur

I've been a customer of Nintendo since the NES days. I'm loyal. But I can't believe how they're getting away with the joycon drift issues. They are easily the worst 1st party controllers I've ever owned.

I think fixing them for free isn't as cool as everyone thinks. First, they should repair overpriced garbage controllers that are prone to break. Secondly, it's a waste of time for the consumer. Just my opinion.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Engage - Relationships Get Sidelined By A Thrilling Combat-First Focus

dkxcalibur

@Beefcakeyamato I'm really enjoying it but I'm progressing slowly. I usually have time to play one-two chapters at a time. I believe I'm on chapter 6 or 7, but with all the training/skirmishes available completed. I like the story, the strategy/combat, the rings, characters. I'm not the biggest fan of the Somniel, but I don't hate it either. It just feels like filler.

How about you?

Re: Video: One Month In, What Are Your Predictions For The Switch's 2023?

dkxcalibur

I think we'll see a secret Mario game that will be released around the same time or right after the movie.

I think Metroid will actually not even come to the Switch. I think at this point it'll be a day one release for the next Nintendo System. So no, I don't think we'll see that in 2023.

Other then those two predictions, the other games that were previously announced will all come out as scheduled.

Re: Poll: Which Of Rare's Classic N64 Games Would You Like To See On Switch Online?

dkxcalibur

I think this poll should have had none and/or all of the above options.

I personally hope all come out. Despite feeling that this generation of games have aged poorly. I still like playing them in short bursts. I would love to play KI again. That was my first N64 game I owned. Diddy was awesome! I actually like it better then Mark Kart 64. Blast Corp was very unique and fun. Those would be my top 3; in that order.

Re: Round Up: Here's What Switch Online Players Think Of GoldenEye 007 So Far

dkxcalibur

I fired it up Friday night. I was excited to show my sons this game. After trying if for a couple minutes and tinkering with the control settings, I turned it off. If Nintendo doesn't fix this issue, I won't play it. Maybe this sounds shallow or lazy, but I'm not going out of my way at this point to try to fix the controls, and I'm not holding joycons in the opposite hands. Forget that! There are waaaaaaay too many other games to play.

Re: Review: GoldenEye 007 - Aged And Flawed, But Still A Masterpiece Of Game Design

dkxcalibur

I think most of the games from this generation have aged very poorly. I've said this in many many post. It actually breaks my heart to say this too. Many of the games I say this about were groundbreaking games when they were released. I feel the same way about Mario 64. It was awesome when it was released but it's aged poorly and is no comparison to every 3D Mario game since. Same is true about Mario Kart 64. The only classics that came from the N64 that I feel can still hold up is Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 (best in series). There are a few other games that are okay, but I'm talking about the classics. As for Goldeneye, it was fantastic gaming back in the late 90's. I have memories of playing this with family & friends for hours and hours. Making our own rules, talking trash, watching each other play the single player missions...it was awesome! But when it comes down to it, I would much rather play a modern game in the same genre that controls well, has less wonky cameras, and the challenges of creating early 3D games has been worked out. I'm ultimately thankful to have lived through this age of gaming. I appreciate these games. I have fond memories of these games. I'll fire this up over the weekend, but long-term, I doubt I'll play it much.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Fire Emblem Engage?

dkxcalibur

Okay, I got a chance to play it yesterday but I'm only 4 chapters in. I'm really enjoying it so far. I happen to like the art style and I wouldn't call myself a fan of anime. The combat is Fire Emblem with slight improvements. The emblems/rings are cool. I'm not ready to give it a score.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Fire Emblem Engage?

dkxcalibur

I've been playing the series loyally since Path of Radiance. I decided to skip the last one, Three Houses, because I just wasn't as interested. With the new game coming out, I've struggled with the question of "Do I go back and play Three Houses first, or do I just buy Engage?". On a whim, I pulled the trigger last night at Target. I only had time to do the update and I can't wait to get home from work today!

Re: Talking Point: In 2023, Do You Still Care About amiibo?

dkxcalibur

From day 1, my family has only purchased the ones we think look cool. It's one of the few things we actually collect. I'll continue to buy the ones I like. Some I open, some I keep boxed. The plan is to eventually display in our finished basement.

I wish they were used in games more then what they are. My favorite use of Amiibo is on Mario Kart. I love how your Mii character can wear character themed uniforms/helmets. I always said they should have made an Amiibo style Party game in the the style of Mario Party. They kind of did, sort of twice....but in my opinion the neither game was fully designed around the amiibo figures.

Re: Talking Point: Does Nintendo's Next Console Have To Be 'Another' Switch?

dkxcalibur

Honestly....I have no preference. I fully trust Nintendo to put out a great system. Now if people buy it and get behind it is a totally different thing. I personally thought the WiiU was an awesome system; but there were obvious marketing mistakes and people just didn't gravitate to it like they did the portable systems and the Wii. I think they found their niche spot at the table of video game systems. If I was a betting man, I would bet that the next system is portable with the option to play at home on a TV. Hopefully with much improved more reliable controllers!

Re: Disney Speedstorm's New Crew System Will Let You Build Your Racing Dream Team

dkxcalibur

I try not to bash every single F2P game that comes out. I'm willing to check them out because ultimately, what do you have to lose? I also understand that it's a growing trend that may not be good for gamers in the long-run. This is a tough one for me. There are many F2P games out there that are really fun to play and you can actually play the full game for free if you don't mind not unlocking cosmetics. Some even let you unlock stuff too; but at a much slower pace.

Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Says He Prefers To Buy Video Games Digitally

dkxcalibur

I consider myself on "team digital" but I'm not totally opposed to buying physical. In my house, we have 3 different Switches. For a single player game, or a game that has good local multiplayer support, we will buy a physical copy to share amongst the three. For a game that has online multiplayer (Splatoon/the first Overwatch) we purchase multiple copies digitally. If we buy games that only one person is interested in, we buy digitally.
