Re: More N64 Games Are Coming To The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack

dkxcalibur

There is absolutely no possible way that joy-cons hold up to the original Mario Party games!

We've been recently playing Pokemon Snap so I've been using the N64 feature of my NSO account. I've been saying for years that GoldenEye hasn't aged well.....but I've always wanted to play it with my sons anyways. Now I'll have the opportunity. Pilot Wings and 1080 were some of my favs so it'll be cool to revisit them too until my year runs out.

Re: Random: Billy Mitchell Claims Doctor Won't See Him Due To Donkey Kong Cheating Accusations

dkxcalibur

Seems like a silly reason to refuse to see a patient, but at the same time, he's a huge scumbag. Doctors at private practices do have the right to not see a patient. Now typically this means a "difficult" one, not someone who cheats on a video game. This one is a tough one. I think he's a slimy person that I wouldn't personally trust but at the same time is it really a big enough reason to refuse to see him for an annual checkup?

Re: The Hardest Games On Nintendo Switch

dkxcalibur

I fully completed DKCR:TF. I almost 100%ed 3D World. I played Mario Maker 2 but mostly the player created levels. I'm nowhere close on Enter the Gungeon....still fun to pick-up and play. I own Celeste but never played it.

Re: Hands On: Splatoon 3 Brings New Ideas, But Nothing Revolutionary

dkxcalibur

I must be part of the minority on this one. I keep going back and forth on whether to buy, skip, or wait. I bought my Switch for Splatoon 2. This time, I'm not sure I'm prepared to shell out another $60 to purchase the newest game in the series. It really feels like more of the same. The hub looks different but it's still basically the same exact thing. The characters are different but are still basically the same. I'm looking forward to new maps, but couldn't they just gave us those in the form of DLC? Same with new weapons? I don't know. I'm not asking for something completely different or major changes....I just feel like I'm getting ready to buy the most expensive DLC I've ever purchased and I don't really play #2 anymore so is it worth it?

That's where I'm at.

I am excited for three team matches. That sounds like a blast.

Re: Talking Point: How Were You Introduced To Metroid?

dkxcalibur

I played the original Metroid on the NES as a kid, but I never stuck with it. I think it was a matter of me being a young kid and having absolutely no clue what I was supposed to do or where to go.

I then skipped the SNES for the Genesis so I totally missed Super Metroid.

I would consider my first real introduction to be Metroid Prime. I was instantly hooked. The Prime games are all awesome! I've since gone back and played the originals.

Re: Deals: Still Haven't Played BioShock? It's Too Good To Miss At This Price (Europe)

dkxcalibur

First Bioshock is a classic! Probably in my top 20 for sure....maybe top 10.

Second Bioshock is good, but too close to the first with less of the feeling you get playing through the first game for the first time.

Third Bioshock is great but I prefer the "under the ocean" setting over the "floating city".

If you've never played them, at this price there's no better time. I strongly recommend.

Re: Sega Genesis Mini 2 Stock Expected To Be In Short Supply Locally

dkxcalibur

@delt75 I too own both the NES and SNES classics; but unlike you, I neither preordered nor purchased on day 1. I picked them both up once the initial craze went down. I bought them at two different local stores. So perhaps it depends on the area you live in. In my experience, all of them were hyped soooooo much that they initially flew off the shelves, but if you were patient, you could find them all eventually. The one exception would be the TG16 one. That one I never saw in person. This was also my experience with both the Mario & Zelda Game & Watch systems. At first I never saw them, they flew off shelves as quickly as they were stocked. But eventually, they showed up.

Re: Sega Genesis Mini 2 Stock Expected To Be In Short Supply Locally

dkxcalibur

Aren't these "classic" systems all released in limited supplies? Typically they don't provide the shortage excuse though.

I feel this is all part of the marketing strategy. Make people that are kind of interested feel that they NEED to buy this when they see it at their local store because if they don't they won't find it again.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About Wave 2 Of The Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pack?

dkxcalibur

IMO Mario Kart 8 was the best game on the Wii U and it's one of the best games on the Switch. I would be excited if Nintendo announced that 9 is coming, but I've still been playing 8 before the track expansion, and I'm really enjoying the track wave 1.

I like that the Mobile game tracks are included too. So far, the variety of the tracks released is really good. I hope they keep up with this trend with a mix of new, old, mobile, handheld tracks.

It's not going to happen, but I would love for a new wave of Amiibo costumes to be released on Kart.

Re: Asmodee Pulls eShop Release 'Pandemic' & Ends Switch Online Multiplayer In Catan

dkxcalibur

I own both in board game form. I also own the Pandemic game on my Switch. It was nice being able to just jump on my Switch and play it without setup and cleanup; but to be honest the reason I stopped playing it was because it's hard to read the text on screen and it's clunky to play. I prefer the board games I guess.

Either way, I feel this is a bit of a rip off to Catan owners. They should be refunded.

Re: UK Government Warns It "Will Not Hesitate To Consider Legislation" Against Loot Boxes

dkxcalibur

I'll add maybe a different thing to this discussion. In the 80's and 90's, many of the arcade games we all love were fully designed to make us want to keep feeding quarters into them. X-man Arcade anyone? Technically, Overwatch isn't forcing anyone into buying loot boxes; nor is a game like Clash. Overwatch boxes contain cosmetic items only, clash technically is a pay to win to a certain point; but it's not necessary either. Maybe I'm off subject at this point.

Re: UK Government Warns It "Will Not Hesitate To Consider Legislation" Against Loot Boxes

dkxcalibur

@BloodNinja @Paraka great responses. Addiction is definitely a real thing and a tough thing. I feel for any person, family, friend who is dealing with it in any form, for any reason.

The reason I asked Andy the question, was to support my opinion that the governments could use addiction as a reason to regulate anything; and when would that stop? Seems silly that we're this deep into "loot boxes" because some parents fail to fully take on the responsibility of being a parent.
