Re: Sony Vet Shuhei Yoshida Says Nintendo Is "Losing Their Identity" With Switch 2

dkxcalibur

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.......but, I think his is a stretch. There's nothing different about Nintendo's approach this time. They've done it before, and for longer than Sony has in the video game industry. It's not like every system they put out is some crazy new system.

I think the argument could be made for some of the decisions that they've made.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Price Has Been Confirmed

dkxcalibur

I don't care that it's priced low. It still leaves a terrible bitter taste in my mouth after that direct. Are they really going to make or lose a lot of money if this game was free? I don't think so. So they decide to charge and put a low price on it because at that much, people will say, "sure, I spent more for my lunch today".

I "HATE" that Nintendo is selling this game at any price! Ridiculous.

Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

dkxcalibur

I find it very weird how Nintendo is choosing to put different prices on games. Is this based on how much time went into the games or is it based solely on the fact that it's a heavy hitter and they know people will buy it? I understand that live sporting events have been basically doing this for years. If you're team is playing a derby or a rival or a popular team, most likely the price for those games will be more than when they play the bottom of the table/standings teams.

Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

dkxcalibur

I don't like the higher price of games for the obvious reasons, but I'm not surprised. I'm not making excuses or justifying it, but hasn't the price gone up on most things?

In comparison, if my family of 4 go see the Minecraft movie this weekend, we'll spend 70+ for a 2 hour experience. At $80, if we were to put 80 hours into the game, it provides significant entertainment value even at the elevated price. I try to put a value on entertainment. I also understand that the system and additional controllers, as well as the online subscription also cost money. For that reason, I'm fairly confident that for the first time since the Gamecube (I went with the dreamcast that generation and later purchased the GC and PS2), I won't be purchasing a Nintendo system on day one.

Re: Not Sold On Switch 2 Camera? HORI's Piranha Plant Model Might Change Your Mind

dkxcalibur

This looks really cool. I'd be concerned about what the Nintendo one has that this one doesn't.

Overall, the camera is a really cool feature if you have friends/family members who also have it and buy into it. It could be really cool. But my gut instinct is that this won't be heavily used in future games and the user base will be small, so the use of this device will eventually just be gathering dust. I hope I'm wrong. I also think it should be included with the Switch 2 at the price that they are selling it for.

Re: 'Mario Kart World' Looks Absolutely Awesome In Debut Switch 2 Trailer

dkxcalibur

So we're getting Mario Horizon? I really want to play this game but I'm not 100% sold on it either.

When I first watched the trailer for MK8, I knew instantly that it was going to be awesome and that I was going to buy it day one. I'm not sure about this one.....yet.

I'm also trying to stay open minded too. Let's see what the details are at the MK direct.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

dkxcalibur

I gave it a 7/10. The system and it's new features look cool. The gameshare feature looks promising, the new social tools look nice if they actually get used, I really want to play Mario Kart World and the new DK game, the release date is very soon!, and third party titles look great.

I gave it less points because the presentation glitched at one point, the price (it wasn't even in the presentation) was higher than I would like it, the camera is sold separately, the tech demo game is not included, and there was a lot of emphasis on having to re-purchase games and/or re-releases.

If the camera and tech demo game were included at $400, I would be less critical of the price being higher.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera Puts You Into The Game For Multiplayer Fun

dkxcalibur

This could be cool. It should be included at the price they're selling this for and because they're making the "C" button a big highlight of the new system. But what will actually happen is that this will be overpriced so the userbase will be small and this social side that they put a lot of focus on during the direct will see less support than it deserves.

Re: Ex-Nintendo Duo Unsure Mario Kart 9 Will Be An Instant "Slam Dunk" For Switch 2

dkxcalibur

I think they make great points. The fact that sooooo many people are getting triggered over 2 people talking about their opinions is crazy since most of these same people are also discussing their opinions.

Just to be clear, they're not saying the game isn't going to be great, they're saying that they don't think it will sell as well as 8.

I personally think that this series will always be a "must own" for most Nintendo system owners. But I will be shocked if it hits the numbers that 8 did. I just don't think the Switch 2 will sell as well as the Switch did so there will be a smaller amount of potential buyers.

Re: Pocketpair Recalls "Depressing Day" Nintendo Announced Its Palworld Lawsuit

dkxcalibur

For me it's a bit complex. On one side I feel that the mechanics of collecting pets can't and shouldn't be controlled by one developer. Could you imagine if this worked like this for other games? There would be only one 1st person shooter. Only one JRPG. Only one platformer. On the other side, the designs clearly look like Pokemon. Come On! If they would have just had a different style for them, we wouldn't even be talking about this, but that's what they were going for! They wanted this. No publicity is bad publicity.

Re: Niantic Sells Pokémon GO And Entire Gaming Division For $3.5 Billion

dkxcalibur

I'll be honest, I grow bored playing any of the Niantic games. When I first discovered their game Ingress (Before Pokemon Go) I at first thought it was unique and fresh. I dove into the game, spending hours walking, driving, checking into the game; in what amounted to lots and lots of wasted time. Ultimately it just felt like a chore.

As for Pokemon Go, my first impression was "this is Ingress re-skinned in Pokemon" and I was fairly close on that assessment.

Re: Random: Takaya Imamura's Holding Out Hope For A Star Fox Movie

dkxcalibur

I'm actually on board with this idea. I feel like this could be one of the Nintendo games that could actually be adapted to film. Now will this happen? Probably not. Would it gather enough support and would enough people pay to watch it? Probably not. Would I? Yes!

I would prefer it to not be animated or live action. Just do it with the puppet or stop animation. I always loved those original puppet characters from the SNES title.

Re: "I Felt Totally Overwhelmed" - Balatro Dev Releases Development Timeline

dkxcalibur

I'm finally playing the game now that it's on Xbox Gamepass.

I do find it crazy that so many people don't like or understand the game over on PureXbox. Blows my mind! I know it's maybe not for everyone, but the thought process that it's just video poker is insane.

This game is fantastic. I think I've finished a run only twice in a two week span. I keep wanting to play it more and more.

Re: 'Switch 2' Is Projected To Be The "Clear Winner" In The Next Console Generation

dkxcalibur

@Zeebor15 Yep! They cut some cartoons to hit that 6 billion!

I'm not arguing their business ethics. I'm arguing that they make money, lots of money.

Just to circle back, I was comparing what Xbox wants to do with their Game Pass to what Netflix has done for streaming media.

If any argument is dragged out and tired, it's the console war argument. Who cares who's 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?

Also, I wouldn't call what Xbox has done a monopoly. I would say the company has definitely made some big purchases, it's not even close to cornering the market.
