Re: Players Need To Start "Feeling Comfortable" With Not Owning Games, Says Ubisoft Subs Boss

dkxcalibur

I chose "other". Here's why:

I stopped looking at games as something I need physically many many years ago. I don't collect games. I play games for an experience similar to going to the movies. When I spend my money on a game, I question if the time I intend to invest will be worth the price. I knew I would probably spend about 20-30 hours on Mario Wonder. That would be about $2-$3 per hour for entertainment. Yep, sounds good, buy. Going to a 2 hour movie cost about $15-$20. Going to a concert or sporting event cost significantly more money per hour. So I don't mind not owning a game, but I'm not sure I want to have another subscription in my life either. My problem with Ubisoft is that I'll need to keep a subscription active in order to finish a game. That I have a problem with.

Re: Retailer GAME Is Officially Ending Physical Trade-Ins (UK)

@Bratwurst35 ha ha, I KNOW. But, they provide a service. If you don't like it, do what others do and take the time to sell the games yourself. Gamestop and other businesses like this do have overhead that must be paid for; and if the business isn't making profit, then what's the point? The last time I checked, they're not a "not for profit".

I have a close friend who owns a card store. People get so amped up when they try to sell him cards. "what, you're only giving me $5 for this? But people are getting $10 on ebay!"

Re: Poll: How Often Do You Trade-In Your Switch Games?

dkxcalibur

I have less time for gaming then ever so I'm buying fewer games. I'm also in a better situation then I was as a kid. I no longer need to trade in games to get a new game. At the same time, I'm not a collector either. I prefer digital but I'm not opposed to picking up used games or new carts either.

Re: GAME Apparently Ending Physical Trade-Ins From Next Month (UK)

dkxcalibur

Now's the time to open your own retro gaming stores in the UK!

I no longer go to Gamestop to trade-in games like I did when I was younger, but I always appreciated the service. When I was younger buying a game was hard. I would often trade in multiple games just to get one "new to me" used game.

I prefer digital these days.

Re: Talking Point: What Classic Sega Franchises Do You Want To See Rebooted?

dkxcalibur

I was a huge fan of VF4 on the PS2. I thought it was a very unique 3D fighting experience. I know there's been one since that....I think; but it would be cool to see that series make a full comeback.

Also, I would love a modern Sega Rally.

For my third I picked other. Why is Shining Force not included??? I don't even understand how this mistake happened on this site.

Re: Talking Point: What Are The Worst Parts Of Your Favourite Games?

dkxcalibur

Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games but the first time I played it, there was a glitch that prevented me from entering the Temple of the Union and being able to interact with Hannibal. I had to finish the game, then start a brand new game in order to experience that part of the game.

I love Mario 64 but the terrible camera makes it almost unplayable for me these days.

Re: Video: Batman Arkham Trilogy Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison

dkxcalibur

I have only played Asylum on the 360. I never tried the other 2 because there was just way too many games back then calling my name. Recently I thought about picking this or the Metal Gear Collection up because I missed out. Most of the time when I buy a collection, I end up playing 1 maybe 2 of the many games loaded in the collection....then I just move on. So I'm not sure it's worth it for me.

Re: Video: Where Does Mario Kart Go From Here?

dkxcalibur

I love the series so much but outside of making it Nintendo Kart and opening it up to other Nintendo characters and tracks based in those worlds, I'm not sure what else they could do. They've kind of did or tried everything. Water, sky, anti-gravity, partners; I'm really not sure what can be introduced. Are graphical upgrades enough? Open world? Do they try to do something like Forza Horizon? Do they move further away from the formula and do more of a racing sim with Nintendo characters? Do they introduce RPG elements? It's Nintendo so I doubt there's a possibility of a Twisted Metal style car combat game.

I trust Nintendo and as I already stated, I love Mario Kart. I patiently await the next game in whatever form that comes. In the meantime, I'll continue to play MK8.

@UltimateInkling I wouldn't say that I don't enjoy them. It's that I feel they are not close to the same quality so that I would rather play the Mario series. I guess it's sort of like the summer blockbuster movies that are fun to watch once, but you'll probably not watch them a second time. It's that kind of thing for me. Sonic was enjoyable for a day or two. Crash about the same.

Re: Nintendo Confirms New Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch OLED Bundle For Black Friday

dkxcalibur

This one I don't quite understand. I think it's a great deal for anyone who doesn't own Smash and is also looking to buy a Switch; but my guess is that most people looking to get into the Switch at this point, is a casual gamer (not always! but in general). My bet is that the Mario games would sell better then Smash. If I were Nintendo, I would do a combo of Nintendo Switch Sports and Mario Kart and watch this thing print money. But that's just me. I would target casual people who don't own the Switch at this point in it's lifetime, not Smash.

Re: Sega's Executive Director Wants Sonic Games And Movies To "Surpass Mario"

dkxcalibur

There's nothing wrong with having goals. However, all I get from the statement above is that they want to copy everything Nintendo has ever done to make Mario successful. The problem is that no one is entitled to greatness. It takes hard work and sacrifices. It takes the mentality of ensuring quality and not willing to take short cuts that may endanger the quality of the final product. I don't think Sega has it in them....yet. Maybe. But I wouldn't bet on them.
