Just to add more to my thought process, about subscriptions. I think they're intended to keep consumers hooked and guarantee a constant flow of money coming in. When the board isn't seeing profits, they just up the price a few dollars.
I stopped looking at games as something I need physically many many years ago. I don't collect games. I play games for an experience similar to going to the movies. When I spend my money on a game, I question if the time I intend to invest will be worth the price. I knew I would probably spend about 20-30 hours on Mario Wonder. That would be about $2-$3 per hour for entertainment. Yep, sounds good, buy. Going to a 2 hour movie cost about $15-$20. Going to a concert or sporting event cost significantly more money per hour. So I don't mind not owning a game, but I'm not sure I want to have another subscription in my life either. My problem with Ubisoft is that I'll need to keep a subscription active in order to finish a game. That I have a problem with.
@Bratwurst35 ha ha, I KNOW. But, they provide a service. If you don't like it, do what others do and take the time to sell the games yourself. Gamestop and other businesses like this do have overhead that must be paid for; and if the business isn't making profit, then what's the point? The last time I checked, they're not a "not for profit".
I have a close friend who owns a card store. People get so amped up when they try to sell him cards. "what, you're only giving me $5 for this? But people are getting $10 on ebay!"
I have less time for gaming then ever so I'm buying fewer games. I'm also in a better situation then I was as a kid. I no longer need to trade in games to get a new game. At the same time, I'm not a collector either. I prefer digital but I'm not opposed to picking up used games or new carts either.
@Vexx234 Your absolutely correct. However, Gamestop isn't going to give you $20 for a 4 year old game that they will only be able to sell for $25. For me personally, I was grateful that I was getting anything for games I no longer played and doing no work in the process.
Now's the time to open your own retro gaming stores in the UK!
I no longer go to Gamestop to trade-in games like I did when I was younger, but I always appreciated the service. When I was younger buying a game was hard. I would often trade in multiple games just to get one "new to me" used game.
I was never into Rugrats. My family never had Nickelodeon until I was older and by that time, Rugrats was basically over. BUT, I do remember friends talking about the show. Anyways, I know nothing really about the show besides the basics but I would still play this game. It really does capture the NES style. I always loved games with different characters to pick from.
Love this! Both are brilliant entertainment. Mr. Bean in Church cracks me up every single time I see it; and the Luigi games have so much charm and character.
@AtlanteanMan I can't agree with you more. I purchased Engage in the first week and I was so excited to play it. I think I made it maybe a 1/4 of the game before stepping away. That has truly turned into a $60 regret for me.
@ScalenePowers I personally could do without the life-sim inclusion. I feel this has almost killed the Fire Emblem series for me. I really enjoyed the Shining Force games back on the Genesis.
I was a huge fan of VF4 on the PS2. I thought it was a very unique 3D fighting experience. I know there's been one since that....I think; but it would be cool to see that series make a full comeback.
Also, I would love a modern Sega Rally.
For my third I picked other. Why is Shining Force not included??? I don't even understand how this mistake happened on this site.
Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games but the first time I played it, there was a glitch that prevented me from entering the Temple of the Union and being able to interact with Hannibal. I had to finish the game, then start a brand new game in order to experience that part of the game.
I love Mario 64 but the terrible camera makes it almost unplayable for me these days.
For me it's going to come down to this: Is $60 worth it to play City? Because I've already played Asylum and it sounds like Knights is borderline unplayable on the Switch. I may need to wait this out until it lowers in price or goes on sale.
While I've never been into Fortnite, I find the hatred this game garners to be totally ridiculous. It's not my style, but it is not a terrible game. I feel that the best part about it, is it's uniqueness and the fact that Epic keeps it fresh.
@SurprisedRobinChu I was thinking the exact same thing. I believe the inclusion of guns in the Lego world, besides zapper/star wars type guns, ended with pirates and the western sets many many years ago. I didn't believe my son when he showed me Lego was doing Fortnite. I thought it was fake. I'm still very surprised.
I have only played Asylum on the 360. I never tried the other 2 because there was just way too many games back then calling my name. Recently I thought about picking this or the Metal Gear Collection up because I missed out. Most of the time when I buy a collection, I end up playing 1 maybe 2 of the many games loaded in the collection....then I just move on. So I'm not sure it's worth it for me.
I love the series so much but outside of making it Nintendo Kart and opening it up to other Nintendo characters and tracks based in those worlds, I'm not sure what else they could do. They've kind of did or tried everything. Water, sky, anti-gravity, partners; I'm really not sure what can be introduced. Are graphical upgrades enough? Open world? Do they try to do something like Forza Horizon? Do they move further away from the formula and do more of a racing sim with Nintendo characters? Do they introduce RPG elements? It's Nintendo so I doubt there's a possibility of a Twisted Metal style car combat game.
I trust Nintendo and as I already stated, I love Mario Kart. I patiently await the next game in whatever form that comes. In the meantime, I'll continue to play MK8.
I didn't preorder them. I never preorder Amiibo. If I see ones that I actually want in the wild, then I'll purchase. I only buy at retail price too, no inflated prices!
I would like all three of the Splatoon 3 characters though.
I'm thoroughly enjoying Wonder at the moment. I was actually thinking about holding off on it and picking up a few other games first, but now that I got it, I can't stop playing it. It's way better then I thought it was going to be.
@Poodlestargenerica Yep! Okay, buddy! That's like saying you don't like FPS because you only like COD or Gears. I would say that it's still possible to enjoy and like a genre even if you prefer a specific game series.....but hey, nice try.
@UltimateInkling I wouldn't say that I don't enjoy them. It's that I feel they are not close to the same quality so that I would rather play the Mario series. I guess it's sort of like the summer blockbuster movies that are fun to watch once, but you'll probably not watch them a second time. It's that kind of thing for me. Sonic was enjoyable for a day or two. Crash about the same.
Just my opinion, but I've never played a "kart" style game that was anywhere remotely close to the Mario Kart Series. I know people like the Crash and Sonic versions, but I'm not a fan of those either. The closest to Mario has been the Diddy Kong effort on the N64.
I finally picked this game up on Friday. So far it's awesome, including the Poplins. I wouldn't say that I "need" them but I definitely don't hate them either.
This one I don't quite understand. I think it's a great deal for anyone who doesn't own Smash and is also looking to buy a Switch; but my guess is that most people looking to get into the Switch at this point, is a casual gamer (not always! but in general). My bet is that the Mario games would sell better then Smash. If I were Nintendo, I would do a combo of Nintendo Switch Sports and Mario Kart and watch this thing print money. But that's just me. I would target casual people who don't own the Switch at this point in it's lifetime, not Smash.
I think this is a great deal for anyone who doesn't own the game but is thinking about it; and anyone who's experiencing drift and needs a new set of joy-cons. For me, we already own that title and I don't think there's a reason to own 2 copies of that one.
There's nothing wrong with having goals. However, all I get from the statement above is that they want to copy everything Nintendo has ever done to make Mario successful. The problem is that no one is entitled to greatness. It takes hard work and sacrifices. It takes the mentality of ensuring quality and not willing to take short cuts that may endanger the quality of the final product. I don't think Sega has it in them....yet. Maybe. But I wouldn't bet on them.

@Druidsbrook I agree 100%. I looked at this trailer and saw the similarities for sure; but I also saw how it was unique in it's own right.
Re: Microsoft: ActiBlizz Acquisition Gives Xbox A Chance To Be A "Good Publisher" On All Platforms

Just to add more to my thought process, about subscriptions. I think they're intended to keep consumers hooked and guarantee a constant flow of money coming in. When the board isn't seeing profits, they just up the price a few dollars.
Re: Players Need To Start "Feeling Comfortable" With Not Owning Games, Says Ubisoft Subs Boss
I chose "other". Here's why:
I stopped looking at games as something I need physically many many years ago. I don't collect games. I play games for an experience similar to going to the movies. When I spend my money on a game, I question if the time I intend to invest will be worth the price. I knew I would probably spend about 20-30 hours on Mario Wonder. @Poodlestargenerica Nope!!!! I love Kart games. I just have the opinion that most don't live up to Mario Kart.
