What do some of the other readers think of RCT Classic on Switch? I was (am) a big fan of the original PC game. I've actually played it within the last week. And that makes me hesitate. I'm curious what more people think of the Switch version... does it hold up? What are things you found good? Things that could be better? Thanks in advance!
@SpaceboyScreams
You're on. I'm up to 35 now. 4 chancey and double digit each of the other 3. Still no lapras.
It seems so one extreme or the other when you see feedback online. Crazy.
Edits: Clefairy not chancey; it was 34 at the time of posting; but most importantly on 35 pull got a Lapras! FINALLY
At this rate I'm going to need someone's help getting that Lapras EX card... I've opened 29 of the promo packs and not 1 Lapras. There's no way it's equal odds for the 5 available cards.
@ROBLOGNICK Maybe for local multi-system play? Similar to how 3ds could local with an og ds and game. Seems like it should, but just being able to play something from last gen doesn't necessarily mean it can directly communicate with last gen hardware.
Not a feature I can even remember using. But hey, more accessibility is always a good thing!
I can't say I've noticed any frame rate or other performance issues... not sure what others are getting on about. Brilliant game, loads of fun. Someone else mentioned sifting through echos, that's my only negative so far as you search for the perfect one. If someone knows of a better way, please let me know.
I'd like to see more eeveelutions - round out the types. But I don't think cross types, as someone mentioned here. Then it gets too "where to we draw the line?" Just stick to one of each type.
Beyond that, is what it is. I already find myself too comfortable in what I know. I have to try to create/use new teams each game cause I otherwise fall into the trap of what I already know.
One way to fix (though sure, recently you could technically go anywhere in any order) the falling into old habits would be having all new mon available early on and returning mon later game. I don't mean as drastic as Black and White. But if I couldn't catch something familiar until after 5 or 6 badges, I'd be far more likely to stick to a new team.
Mini rant alert: that was a tough part with even gen 2. The likes of larvitar, houndour, slugma, sneasel, murkrow, etc. only being available post game was a shame. Let me build a whole new team I've never seen before early on to take on the journey. And then deal with catching my 500th Pikachu or geodude in the post game. I know there were some new available earlier, but I listed some of the cooler new mon there. Trapped post game is a shame.
Jokes aside though, you can see this in Nintendo games (Poké aside) and their quality at launch. Far better than the alternative — where we'd be complaining of half baked b.s. all the time.
I'm sure it's in part a voucher thing. Makes those that go the voucher route think they're getting a deal when in reality Nintendo is squeezing another sale out of you by forcing the pair for $100. I'm sure they're plenty happy getting $50 for their titles.
There will be enough variant. A Link Between Worlds was fantastic because of its gameplay. Not because it was a mostly reused map. This will be no different in that regard — fantastic for the gameplay. I'm looking forward to being able to explore in a whole new way, using the "infinite possibilities" Tri mechanic. Can't wait.
@Expa0 Best of luck, mate. 12 hour flight doesn't sound like fun for your first time. I hope you have noise canceling headphones and wish you the ability to sleep 👍
How about both? Where the defined strategy could simply be more effective? I'm thinking of Zelda where it can be a do X-then-Y-then-Z and you'll do damage. Repeat 3-6 times and boom you've won. If such a sequence means you do say 18-30% damage of the boss, then how about other attacks doing significantly less? This would leave the defined strategy to still have that success, but allow someone that maybe can't get the timing, etc., just right another option to grind it out.
I don't think even the money and sales figures of third versions makes an argument anymore. While I have done zero research to back this up, I'd say the DLCs of recent gens sold plenty enough to cover that gap. The less expensive DLC that's available for both games is more in the "heck, why not" price range to attract more players than a full priced new game.
For the record, I don't mind the two versions still. It gives reason to trade with a friend or stranger to complete the dex. I don't see it going away for the mainline games.
@Max_the_German are you saying Nintendogs is not in fact better than A Link to the Past?! (hopefully don't need to spell out the sarcasm here, but some may not see it)
Of the ones that are almost certainly not going to be on other platforms, I'd go with Halo and Fable. Even with scaled back visuals, I'd 100% buy these on a Switch 2.
@nhSnork Zero expectation here 😅 Just really took a line from the article and noted when about that would line up with. I personally don't see it happening this year, but would love to be wrong.
Legends Celebi and you can sign me up. I posted on one of the articles that I'd probably get a let's go togepi too, and I'll stand by that. Johto is still one of my favourite regions.
@sanderev If that's true, I'd be on board for it. But I'd hope it includes both regions, as Gen 2 did. Made based on Crystal would be fun. The mechanics of Let's Go were a bit gimmicky, but it was still fun to revisit Kanto with a fresh coat of paint. A certain egg pokemon would be a good cover 'mon, too.
Zelda HD, please. I wouldn't be surprised if they come separately and at full price. But to be honest, I'd just pay for it at this point. I've been waiting too dang long.
Not sure when it was added, but this is the first time I've seen Canadian eshop credit through NL store — thank you! I'm excited for this and figure buying through here means NL gets something for it. All the better.
I've been playing the game and so far enjoying it. I'm not sure how I feel about some assets being quite similar to TPCs. There have been others lately that use Nintendo success to draw in an audience. I'm not saying it's fine cause "everyone's doing it," as again I'm not sure how I feel about it.
In the end I spent the $40 already so I'm gonna keep playing the game. And if the first while has any indication, I'm gonna keep enjoying it.
Is there more to the character stats than what vehicle size they use? I'd flip through the characters and see how big the kart looked compared to others and think "ok they're heavier, etc." but this makes it seem different. Can there be a light or medium character that uses a large kart? Where's a good resource for this information?
I was really hoping this would happen... but animated. And I don't mean Mario Movie like, but more like the Spider-Verse style. Animation just lends itself it be more versatile. Really hoping this goes well, but at the same time I was hoping for a different direction. If anything makes me feel better, I think Nintendo would scrap it completely if they felt it wasn't good, rather than release a subpar movie. Can't wait for all my doubt to be washed away with an awesome trailer.
So even announcing a Zelda movie should bring enough hype to drive sales of a WWHD/TPHD release, right?? I'll die on this hill.
But to the Mario point, this is fantastic. I wouldn't say it's driven me to purchase more than I would have already, but I'm certainly finding more enjoyment in Mario again. To see such an impact on sales though means good things for future projects. Good things all around!
Zeldas story was great. I wish there was more order to the dragon tears though, because I had it sorted out long before completing the tears.
But character you get to interact with — I'm actually a bit surprised master kohga didn't get any votes. It was cool to see more to him than just being a bit of a bumbling idiot/fool.
My answer feels familiar so a similar question must have been asked recently... maybe Mario 1? Anyways:
My vote went to SNES, because I prefer the downward angle between Y to run and B to jump - it just feels more natural. However, I must admit I play the GBA version more often because of the portability. GBA SP all day. Love me a clamshell handheld console, still use my SP or 3DS more than the Switch in handheld mode.
Pretty rough that even #1 on the list couldn't crack a score of 8. Don't get me wrong, 8 should be a pretty darn great game. Tho technically correct as is, it just seems like a "Best of" list should probably have a great game on it.
It's an in person "event" so I won't complain. Wifi distributions with codes posted online just seem less special. This one I'll at least remember "oh yea, I had to drive to GameSpot for that fake electric mouse"
This tracks. While I can't deny how impressed I was with ToTK scope, physics, etc., it was a bit expected coming from BoTW as a base. The sheer shock and awe of BoTW on release will be difficult to replicate going forward. It was such a shift in direction and leap in performance.

Not having a ToTK situation again... Likely be $70 and not covering that spread for customers.
Weird it took this long, though.

Long answer: Nope.

I wouldn't get your hopes/fears up for Pokémon Mastersex. I'm confident Pokémon Sleep is as far as they'll go into the bedroom.

By the time I read this it was back up 11% so that's a whole lot of panic in so short a time some of us couldn't even get in on the fun.

Great for me. The long awaited (and surely coming at some point, right?!?) WWHD and TPHD would have pushed it to excellent or outstanding.

I have not bought a second switch. Still rocking the OG.
