Crikey, it's the weekend already..? Ah well, we'll take it!
Looking back on this week, it's kinda felt like a bit of a quieter one, but we've still had some pretty sizeable news items drop. The top story this week was undoubtedly the reveal of the new Lego set based on the Legend of Zelda franchise's Deku Tree; it's an expensive one, but a beautiful one.
We also received a very brief tease for the upcoming Dragon Quest III remake (or could it be an entire trilogy..?), so that's pretty exciting. In other game reveals, although not quite confirmed for the Switch at this time, Celeste's composer revealed the intriguing ANOTHEREAL for Steam.
It's also heavily rumoured that 2K might have secured the licensing rights to FIFA, which would put it ina position to legitimately challenge EA's own footballing franchise, EA Sports FC.
So with that done, let's check out what we're going to be booting up this weekend, shall we?

I rolled credits on Animal Well this week which means I only have about 97% of the game left to complete. I’m planning to do a good bit of exploring this weekend and see how many times I can mutter to myself “Wait, how long have I been able to do that?”
I have also got a real hankering to play some Astro’s Playroom on the other console. Despite it sitting there as long as I’ve had my PS5, I’ve never touched it. I should probably rectify that, right?
Ollie Reynolds, Staff Writer
I've been drawn back into the world of Danganronpa, so I've been playing Trigger Happy Havoc again. I'm in the market for a PS Vita, so I've been scouring eBay quite a bit recently. I've got such good memories of playing Danganronpa on my original Vita during lunch breaks at work, and I'm so annoyed at myself for getting rid of it. Stoopid.
Elsewhere, I finally bought God of War Ragnarok on the PS5. I don't know why I put it off for so long, but goodness, it's really good so far. The combat is top notch and I absolutely love Ryan Hurst's performance as Thor.
Alex Olney, Video Producer
Last Christmas, I received NieR Automata: End of YoRHa Edition, and I'm ashamed to say I've only very recently started playing it. Naturally I went straight in on the Hard difficulty, and anyone who knows the game will know that that was likely a mistake. After an hour or so of trying I just decided that 'Normal' is fine too.
So I'll be playing that this weekend. That and some Nocturnal (good game).

After dipping back into Tears of the Kingdom last weekend, I'm now busy in the skies above Faron. I'm also eager to get back to Shadows of Valentia, and the talk around Hades II over the last month has me wanting to return to the original and escape the Ol' Man a few more times. If I remember correctly, I only beat him twice, so there's plenty more work to get to the proper ending.
I've also (fingers crossed) managed to bag myself a free PS4 from a relative, so I'm compiling a shortlist of exclusive last-gen PlayStation games to catch up on. Right now it's Last of Us Part II, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne, and Spider-Man. Let me know in the comments if there's anything else truly unmissable I should look out for.

This weekend I'm on holiday, and — don't kill me, please — I didn't bring my Switch. But I did bring my Steam Deck. Most of the newer games I've bought have been PC exclusives, so it made more sense, even though it's a lot bulkier.
I'm going to Banff, which means most of my weekend will hopefully be spent outside, but when I'm not outside I might give Slay the Princess a go! I've been looking forward to playing it for a long time and just haven't had the time. I also just bought Sun Haven to fill the farming game-shaped spot in my heart that has been going unfulfilled for a while. I hope it's good!

It is somehow June and I am still dabbing in Unicorn Overlord. With the last continent under the crushing iron fist of my absolute rule, the end game is at hand. It will be of no surprise to tell you I have yet to conquer the final boss from Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown so maybe, possibly this weekend I can put that behind me. I’ve dusted off my 8bitdo arcade stick and will be playing inhuman amounts of Devil Blade Reboot, Astrolancer, Ginga Force and Natsuki Chronicles on PC. When that shmup itch hits, you have to scratch it. And on that note...
My game of the week is Macross Shooting Insight. By far this is the definition of “average shmup” on all accounts but the special physical edition was priced just right for me to resist. Being a huge Macross fan I confess that this is fan service done right. Sadly as you might imagine, the licenced soundtrack is very streaming unfriendly, with copyright notices popping up on every boss fight. Curse you, protoculture!
That's what we have planned for the weekend, but what about you? Fill in the following poll with the game that you will be maining over the next few days and then slide into the comments to let us know what other titles are on the cards.
What are you playing this weekend (1st/2nd June)? (526 votes)

This weekend I will finally try out Baldur's Gate 3. I think I will start with a dwarf
On the side I am trying to finish The Outer Worlds on the Switch JUST from the cartridge to be 100% sure that the game is playable from start to finish without any updates (even if there is "internet required" on the front of the box!). Currenly somewhere in the middle of the game (I have to find some chemicals for Phineas)
I will start my Claire A - Leon B run of Resident Evil 2
And If I find some time I will chip away some chapters in Half-Life 2.
Happy gaming everyone!!!
Finished a few games this week.
Finished Young Souls, 100% complete.
Really enjoyed it. Great rpg elements and nice combat, beat it on hard which was, well, hard.
Finished They Always Run, I absolutely loved this game, beautiful to look at, great gameplay and tight combat. Add in an ending I didn't expect with a great song and soundtrack means this game will stay with me for a while. Excellent.
Finished Gal Guardians.
This game annoyed me, repetitive sound bytes that grate by the end of the game.
Padding the game with a fetch quest that requires you to go through most of the levels again including the bosses to open the final battle felt like a very lazy design choice. Gameplay was ok, so too the visuals but not as good as I hoped sadly.
I have a copy of Haak being delivered after I scored a cancelled copy from Super Rare Games after I missed out from the initial sales window.
A nice surprise and excellent service from Super Rare Games so I'll probably play my digital version again as I wait.
Also going back to my playthrough of The Messenger I never finished so I'm going to fix that mistake this weekend.
Playing Bloodborne on my PS4 after I picked up a like new copy for $2.50 from an op shop which was a good score, enjoying it so far.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Tonight I'm seeing my friends, we'll play D&D.
Tomorrow I'll continue with my schedule of alternating between:
I beat the main levels of Tiny Thor during the week, so I'm going to attempt a few of the challenge levels now. I recommend the game to anyone who likes really tough platformers. Some of the levels towards the end were frustrating as the gaps between checkpoints were a little long, but it was really satisfying managing them. I'll be playing something much easier next, but I'm not yet sure what.
Was signed off work this week, following my little accident. Have been carrying on with Library Of Ruina, although I am a little stuck at the end of Urban Plague! Am struggling to complete two of the story missions, so am grinding general invites for extra books. Balatro is still a regular feature. Just cleared Purple difficulty, so on to Orange! My wife gifted me Paper Mario: TTYD, so it would have been rude not to start it! 😆 Am about to start Chapter 3 now. Still utterly magical, even after all these years, and the new graphics are gorgeous. And... I have just started the third floor in Wizardry. Am really enjoying it so far. Have a great weekend, guys, and please take great care of yourselves out there.
Started Baldur's Gate 3 this week. Just threw a halfling-corpse i've had in my inventory for 15 hours on a treasure trap-mechanism
Nintendo Switch:
CAPCOM ARCADE 2ND STADIUM:
STREET FIGHTER ZERO3 – completed the game as M. Bison(Boxer) without using continues. My new highest score is 1894500. My previous highest score was 1637400, as Juli.
ACA NEO•GEO The Last Blade 2 – tried to unlock Kôryû for a 30 minutes, before finding out that it was impossible, because ACA version is based on the MVS version, while Code Mystics's version is based on AES version, where Kôryû is playable. *uck Hamster Corporation.
Android:
Hidden Folks – completed "The Forest" levels and completed 2/3 "The Desert" levels. Completed 7 levels in total.
Nokia 105 (2017):
Snake Xenzia – got new high score in Classic game – 1808. My highest score is 2216.
Doodle Jump – played Space level. Wanted to get new high score, but failed.
Well, for now, that's all what I've played on this week... Have a nice gaming weekend, everyone.
Update #1:
Crypt of the NecroDancer – tried to beat All Zones mode as Tempo, but failed. Beated All Zones mode as Eli. Unlocked Bolt and completed the game as Bolt.
Update #2:
Zombie Night Terror – finished 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th levels of the first "movie". Finished 1st and the 2nd levels of the second "movie", and cleared the 3rd level.
Skullgirls 2nd Encore – completed Arcade Mode as Peacock.
UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II [Sys:Celes] – played VS Mode for a bit, unlocked some characters' victory demos.
Crypt of the NecroDancer – tried to complete 4th Zone as Monk multiple times, but failed again...
Pinball FX – I've played it for a 40 minutes, got tired, and deleted it a few minutes later. I like pinball, but chasing high scores is not an interesting thing for me...
Bought WarioWare Move It a few days ago - thanks to using Xbox Rewards points was able to get it for like $10 - so might angle to finish that. Past that I dunno, been thinking about replaying Three Houses.
Paper Mario: TTYD and nothing else till I finish. Currently going for the 5th star.
More TTYD. I get why it's held in such high regard.
Also, Super Mario Odyssey. Bought the art book last weekend and felt inspired to start a new playthrough. It's been more than 6 years since I last played it.
Patrick's Parabox on PC
Slowly getting through TTYD…just got the second star. I’m enjoying it a lot more than SMRPG (and I liked that a lot).
Also got Sleeping Dogs on Steam Deck for next to nothing so playing a bit of that. Really really good and holds up great today especially visually. Shame they never brought it to Switch!
Been taking my time on the main story. Two weeks in and I just defeated the pirate robot to get the bow and arrows in Skyward Sword HD. I kinda like how a staple of the Zelda series like the bow is gotten later in the game and the cool new items like the beetle were up first. Hope to play more this weekend. I do have that cross country flight tomorrow morning…
Baldur’s Gate 3 arrived so I’m taking my time with that, but business as usual, TTYD, FFXVI are going smoothly.
I'm going to Japan with a small group of friends. 's going to be a fun trip I would hope.
I got my switch with me so I'll maybe do some gaming in the 12+ hour flight if I don't end up feeling completely sick (it's my first flight ever). Maybe start up the 2nd Pokemon Violet DLC and/or finish up Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon (NES) which has been my travel game since it dropped on the system. Maybe some Smash with friends, idk.
Rayman Legends Definitive Edition. Beat the main story ages ago, but decided to go back and try and get all the teensies. Got them all on the Legends levels, and got about 3/4 of the ones on the Origins levels.
@Gavin Lane, add God of War and the 2016 Ratchet and Clank to that list, if they're your thing. Both great games. Concrete Genie is a short but sweet lesser known first party delight that's worth a go.
Finishing up TTYD (I'm on the last chapter) and after that I'm gonna start either Animal Well or Paper Trail
I've also picked up some Groove Coaster Wai Wai Party dlc on sale so I've been playing that a bunch
Seeing as I leant it to my brother whilst I was only halfway through back when it originally released, I finally revisited the incredible Metroid Dread yesterday. I thought it best to start a brand new save file and I’ve just beat the first boss. Having a blast, too. This is peak gaming right here!
Because it was mentioned above I just got Astrolancer and I love it! It feels like I'm playing a Compile game that just got discovered. Thanks! Also thanks to Time Extension I've been enjoying Devil Blade Reboot, another great shoot em up. This week saw the release of an awesome SNES style Mario Kart romhack that's really like an entire sequel to Super Mario Kart. Super Mario Kart Horizons is amazing, with awesome tracks, music, and gameplay.
I've mainly been obsessed with Gran Turismo though. I played hours of GT2 and 1, then got so sick of the music I switched to the Japanese releases and am enjoying progressing through those 2 classics at 60fps on Duckstation. I love the music in East Town in GT2 (all regions)! Also playing TxK, Tempest 4000, PO'ed (so weird and fun, and 90fps on OLED Deck), Majora's Mask, BOTW, and Jumping Flash!
Also, I just played Diddy Kong Racing at 60fps because about 1 day ago someone released a fan patch that allows 60fps in DKR. I loved that game decades ago and am excited to play it at a decent frame rate! Thank you to whoever made that possible!
ALSO, I got Super Mario 64 set up with raytracing on my 3 year old laptop and it is incredible. I don't know why I've never played anything with Ray tracing before, but this has been an awesome way to see it! It really is gorgeous and it's hard to stop playing once I start it up.
Finally, I've been playing a lot of Nexzr and what an awesome shoot em up it is! I can't remember who developed it, but it feels like classic Compile or Star Soldier dev team. Great music(maybe perfect, in a relaxing music kind of way), satisfying power ups that look cool, and just fun levels and enemies. I've got it all dressed up with nice artwork in my favorites, of course.
Tea of the week is a lovely 3 flower herbal we got a sample of this week (chrysanthemum and 2 others).
Oh and I keep playing lots of Rocket League and Super Mario 64 Coop DX.
Happy gaming everybody!
This weekend, I’ll continue to play through both Lego Jurassic World, as well as Pikmin 2. Outside of that, I’ll probably get around to firing up the GrimGrimoire OnceMore Demo, while I’m at it.
I'm still playing ACNH and Stitch every day. I realised I was a bit harsh on Xenoblade Chronicles last week, so will go back to that at some point.
I've been a bit cranky this past week or so, and it's made it harder to enjoy games. However, I did enjoy playing through A Moose Lost In The Woods on PC.
I'm starting to feel better, and feeling eager to play Witcher 3, Lego City Undercover or Elden Ring. Hopefully I can start one of them.
TTYD - what else?
I've been playing these games all week and I'll keep on doing that this weekend:
I'm officially taking a break from the Hatsune Miku rythm game (literally just put it down), and I think I will start Just Shapes and Beats this weekend.
Have fun & happy gaming!
This week I will be mostly playing
Fire Emblem Echoes
As I've been going through what I hope is just an acute case of insomnia over the last ten days, I was playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Mega Drive at 2am this morning before I finally managed to fall asleep at around 4am - Sonic 2 was an easy choice as it was the first video game I ever played and I know it so well, it's basically just playing on autopilot and is thus very calming.
Otherwise, I'll continue my adventure in Final Fantasy 12, have just got to Balfonheim Port this week.
Any suggestions from the folks here on any very, very calming games that will help me soothe my currently fried and sleep-deprived mind?

Backlog
I'm rotating between Stellar Blade, Witcher 3, and Diablo IV. Im also really trying to get into Fallout 4 and Baldurs Gate 3 again but those games just arent clicking for me at all (yet).
I've been beating Rawk Hawk again and again and again.
As always, shameless plugs for Ps4 games, Ps5 games AND the steam deck. “Journalists “, fans” or neither? Hmm.
Finally gotten back to playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and it's grown on me far more than when I initially got it. I can see myself finishing it this month. Not sure whether I'll finish Touhou: Luna Knights first though, but I'm sure I'm sure I'll have tons of fun!!😁❤︎♥︎
I'll be continuing TTYD this weekend.
Started Monster Hunter World on Steam last week (my 6th MH title), so that'll remain my focus for a good while. Believe I'm currently HR5 (HR stands for 'hunter rank); next objective is exploring the Great Ravine, but not until I'm done farming Rathian armor first.
Went back to Picross S+ this morning, starting e3 next.
Have a great weekend y'all!
Ori and the Blind Forest for me. Looking forward to the Big Big Run on Splatoon 3 next weekend.
I’m going away today and travelling light, so no gaming for me for 2 whole weeks. I’ll have to be content with playing through games in my mind.
Maybe I’ll finally actually play Banishers this week. I’m caught up on the backlog, so technically that’s all that’s left for me on my to-play list til Erdtree (unless I decide to get Still Wakes the Deep or we get some Summer Game Fest surprises).
I’ve been fluffing about in Elden Ring mostly, regaining my skill, but the stuff I skipped is stuff I’m not able to beat. Lol. I was Elden Lord long ago, but now… Man, I can’t beat Commander Niall… Was I that dependent on others to help me through the game? Yesterday I was having a great time clearing Farum Azula though. Really fun area to practice in.
I might watch my son play Hauntii for a while. He quite likes that one.
Picked up a copy of Def Jam Vendetta for my Gamecube recently. Can't believe I never gave it a look 20 years ago. It's the same AKI engine as WWF No Mercy, only further polished. Incredible wrestling game with a fun story mode.
In the past month, I bought 4 physical games, thank you Woot! And PlayAsia: and beaten most of them this week.
CryMachina: was on sale on Woot so I decided to give it a chance. Beaten.
Got the next 3 from PlayAsia
Ghost Trick: I hadn’t played it since the DS, and really wanted this one physical. Had so much fun again, but remembered a few too many of the tricky puzzles. Beaten.
Sanabi: This was a good one! Although it was a bit narrative heavy, I minded the narration less and less as it got closer to the end. Beaten last night.
Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights : I have high hopes for this one. Starting this one today.
Prince of Persia:The Lost Crown: I need to go back and beat this one, but I’m having so much fun with my other games.
Groove Coaster: Wai Wai Party: I always make time for a little Groove Coaster in between other games.
@deecas it depends on what kind of games calm your mind. I will play puzzle games to calm my mind and play them before bed. I played through a lot of my Ace Attorney library at night before bed; just a bunch of reading. Also Cloud Gardens puts me in auto pilot. The Shape Of Things also lulled me to sleep at nights I played before bed.
I've been going down memory lane back to the good old PS2 days on the Steam Deck. I'm trying to finish Jak II for the first time, having given up as a kid, and I'm playing the first God of War.
On Switch I'm still playing and loving Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, slowly getting to discover Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and going through Persona 5 Royal.
Have fun gaming everyone!
Finally upgraded my phone (from a decade-old iPhone 5S) and been replaying Pokémon Platinum and Gold via Delta. Also been playing Go whenever I can, and started “playing” Sleep and bagged me an Entei.
I also finally caught Iron Leaves in Violet, which was such a frustrating chore, and my Blueberry Dex is complete at last.
Way, way too much Pokémon.
After finishing Unicorn Overlord, Little Kitty Big City and Tinykin last weekend (all of which were awesome games), I'm now giving Cursed to Golf a shot. I picked it up on sale a few weeks ago (it's also on sale now), and I just played the tutorial. The blend of golf and roguelite seems like a fun concept to mess around with before I go to my next big game.
EDIT: Forget it, tried it. Hated it. Gonna play a different game instead.
I'm also playing quite a bit of Splatoon 3, with the new update. I tried the Mint Decavitator and it's enjoyable to use, but I'm not sure it fits my playstyle as something I want to stick with. And the Wellspring...I just suck with bows, so that's a nope. I'm gonna stick with my Explosher. The train station is a very fun map though.
TTYD! I’m loving it so far. Very phenomenal game!
Isn’t banff the noise Nightstalker makes when he teleports? 😌
I finished Unicorn Overlord earlier this week, very good game overall. So now I'm focusing on Splatoon 3 for the new content and Endless Ocean Luminous.
Considering the State of Play on Thursday officially started event season and there's a load of showcases next weekend alongside Big Big Run, I think I'll hold off starting a new single player game until after the Direct whenever that happens.
A good few genre moods this weekend even for Switch library alone to scratch - RPGs (from the newly procured .hack//G.U. and the tried'n'true Xenoblades/Rune Factories/Fuga/Tokyo Mirage Sessions/Mary Skelter 2 to stuff like Skyrim, Torchlight 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Harvestella and Dying Light), puzzles (another fresh recruit in Indigo 7 plus others like Ironcast, Roundguard, Little Inferno and Puyo Puyo Tetris), roguelites (be it the relative usuals like Isaac, Children of Morta, Caveblazers, Rogue Legacy and Undermine or less recurrent options like Enter the Gungeon, Swindle or Crown Trick), drivers from Wreckfest and Disney Speedstorm to Mudrunner and Saints Row 4, builders like Minecraft, DQB and Terraria, readers like Danganronpa, Will and Great Ace Attorney... and that's not to mention other stuff that may yet elbow in, from MHR, Borderlands 2 and RE0 to BotW, Portia and 8Doors.😆
Other platforms? Potentially more XCX, Final Fantasies, NoA and Watch Dogs on Deck, more NFS2015, IaF, RE3R and [futile attempts at progress in] Bloodborne on PS4, more Endless Frontier and Chase Begins on 3DS, more Eternia and Gravity Rush (with a potential addition of some Freedom Wars) on Vita.
I KILLED CRAWMERAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Weekend set.
Art of Rally and Splatoon 3 for the new content. Also a quick go on F Zero 99.
Happy Weekend all. 😃
I’ve been playing Bread & Fred with my daughter. I recommend to anyone who wants a genuine belly laughing inducing game.
Other than that, I completed Animal Well during the weekday evenings so going to crack on with the end game stuff. It was so reminiscent of Fez that I’ve started a new play through on that as well and already got to new game+, it’s been great remembering how to solve certain puzzles.
Happy gaming all
The popular choice - Paper Mario TTYD!
Also, a very profitable walk this morning. You know how some people leave DVDs/Books outside their homes with 'Please Take'? Someone was giving a big stash of boxsets away. Sadly, none of them appeal to me, all gory/sex filled HBO stuff, but worth £38.60 in exchange at Cex according to the site. So, off to get a voucher for future use
@Chibi It's quite common for gamers to own more than one system. There are always games available on one system, but not others. What is so strange about that? I like the variety myself. Not everyone is only playing Switch games all of the time. Why shouldn't other systems be mentioned?
Recently I finished FF7 Rebirth so I plan on moving on to the next game to play through, hopefully over the weekend I’ll be able to make some more progress in P5R then on the switch. Some of the other games I’ll find myself playing over the weekend include R6 Siege, Multiversus, and The Finals. It’s been a long week so happy gaming everyone!
Just started chapter 6 on Dave the Diver,
Rounding up all the last eggs in Animal Well
And started Act 6 in Diablo 4.
Hopefully finishing these games this week!
I’ll be splitting time between Rogueport (Paper Mario: TTYD) and Fevrith (Unicorn Overlord) this weekend, as the kids could care less about the nuances of fantasy tactical min-maxing when the fun and colorful adventures of Mario and Goombella await. Either choice is fine by me! 😁
Hoping everyone finds just the right game to play this weekend! 🕹👾
It’s a new season in Splatoon 3, so I’ll want to get a good start with the new catalog and Wandercrust on SplatNet 3. However, as far as I’m concerned, the end is near. I’m going to start seriously cutting back on Splatoon 3, so this summer will be huge for my backlog. I’m mainly just going to play Splatoon 3 for Salmon Run, Tableturf Battle, story modes, and in-game events like Splatfest and Big Run. I’ll only occasionally play Turf War for fun. The new weapons seem pretty fresh, and I love that there’s Dousers with a bomb now, but I’m done with weapon grinding. I’m content after securing the five-star Octo Shot Replica badge!
@geo-shifter how was Crymachina? I was so disappointed by the demo ...
I love rythm games but never tried Groove Coaster, what do you find so nice about it?
I just recently finished Ender Lilies and had a blast, wish you have a great time with it as well!
@deecas playing a rythm game on the easiest difficulty would put me straight to sleep, maybe something like Deemo, with the lovely and soothing piano tracks. Good luck!
After dedicating 190 hours into Totk, getting all the Shrines and Lightroots I decided to go back to BoTW, haven't played it (botw) since 2022.
This time however I'll be doing Master Mode, currently I have the Zora domain cleared and now heading towards the Rito. Feels great to go back to Botw not gonna lie.
Note: Not bashing Totk, I had a great time with it, as a standalone game it's great but as a sequel to BotW it was dissapointing.
That said I still feel people tend to jump on the hate bandwagon for totk too quickly.
Paper Mario TTYD and Evil West/ Fallout 4 on xbox. Can't decide what smaller title to play in my backlog. I tried out Gimmick Special Edition but I did not like the slow combat mixed with the fast enemies. So I might give kudzu a shot from the backlog, or buy tiny thor.
10-Yard Fight (NES) - With CFL starting up again, I figured I'd play a few games of this today.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (Windows Phone) - At the end of this now.
Princess Peach Showtime and Apollo Justice Trilogy. Same as last week.
Dragon’s Dogma 2. My maxed out Thief and trusty Sorcerer, Schemer, have just reached Battahl. I sneaked in by pretending to be a slave on a phantom oxcart. It was a good time. And now we are on the hunt for a Medusa’s head in order to petrify a griffin for a sculptor. This game is an all-timer for me.
A somewhat lax weekend, with a lazy Saturday with nothing going on at all! It's rainy today anyway. Perfect for some reading and gaming. Besides knocking out some pages in Stephen King's The Shining, there will be plenty of gaming.
Happy gaming!
@Yalloo don’t get CryMachina. Lol. Or wait until it’s on a VERY steep sale.
With rhythm games, it’s about the music type, along with the controls for me. I enjoy the controls, and the music selection is awesome. If you’re into Vocaloid, that’s in there, but there’s quite a bit of happy hardcore type music. I listen to Hardcore Tano*C, and there are quite a few track from some of those contributing artists. I enjoy the DLC, although they can be cumulatively pricey for some.
I find rhythm game fans to not be all that uniform. I’ve considered Project Diva, but don’t deem the control scheme worth the price, even when on sale. Soundfall was a little disappointing. Deemo, Musynx, and Thumper never caught my attention, despite watching many videos. I bought Super Beat Xonic, and the controls on the Switch were not well-matched for it; that one might be better with a different type of controller, where the analogs are in the same mirrored places.
I’ve played Wacca recently and wished I had a cabinet of my own. Lol. Of course love DDR; I have stepmania with a bunch of song packs on PC and bought a custom dance mat from overseas. I enjoyed Necrodancer, although I never went back to beat it. And I hope Arcaea goes on sale on Switch so I can have it there instead of iPad. I’d say always watch videos of gameplay, and find out what the music selection is like for any rhythm game you think about buying.
NES pew pew pew
Paper Mario: TTYD - currently on Chapter 3 and thus far like the original Paper Mario a bit more.
Adding some more SMT IV (3DS) and Persona 4 (NS). I’m about 45 hours into the latter after having spent time with Persona 3: Reload (PS5). Decided to stick with completing P4 for now as P3 hasn’t grabbed me yet.
Tears of the kingdom, heading into Gerudo canyon for sun and fun.
@Expa0
Best of luck, mate. 12 hour flight doesn't sound like fun for your first time. I hope you have noise canceling headphones and wish you the ability to sleep 👍
Working today, but hopefully some more time for Wizardry on Switch. Have my party to about level 9 so far, which felt like a necessary grind once monsters can poison you. I'd never played the original game, but this modern presentation is really great. Also may get back to Penny's Big Break Away.
@NintendoByNature
Mr Gimmick on switch has insane input latency. Played it a few months ago and really hated it but decided to give it a go on MiSTer fpga which is accurate to how it's played on NES.
Turned out to be one of my favorite nes games when i could actually control the little green guy
I finished chapter 2 in The Thousand Year Door last night. I’ll play more of that this weekend along with some rounds of Stick Fight: The Game.
Playing Nier Automata this week and it's so good and unexpected. Usually I prefer easy modes, but here I do pretty well on normal.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is my primary gaming time sink this weekend. Just got to the pig town, and I am reminded just how eerie this tale can be!
Granblue Fantasy Relink just got another update, so we ran some last night, and we'll be running some more Sunday evening.
We're planning some Saturday night Helldivers 2 as well, so lots of good times with friends.
Otherwise, more old games.
Catching the Haikyu movie in theaters today, followed by a trip to the bookstore, so there'll be some reading on the horizon, too.
@Aispen interesting. I'm not sure if it was Input latency or just crummy design in general. Hitting is literally such a long build up and enemies are just flying at you. Shame too. Had a lot of potential. I love lost NES games since I only had what I had growing up. I didn't know about much as a kid, just bought what I thought looked good on the box art, which, was once a year, and only 1 game. It wasn't until the 16bit era where I was a tad more aware of what games were good as I was about 8-9 at the time.
TTYD. It's a terrific remaster-or-remake-whatever it is. It makes me happy.
I also got a free physical copy of Rune Factory 4 for the Switch. It's fun to play it on the TV.
I'll be doing my usual of playing tanks and fallout. I do have a urge to play my 3DS but the charger does not work anymore so i gotta get a new one.
@geo-shifter thanks for your detailed feedback! Seems we have different taste in rythm games, or just music in general 😅 you've mentioned some titles I had never heard of before, so I'm gonna check them out too.
I was also initially not convinced with the gameplay of Diva Mix, but in the higher difficulties it gets quite intense. I think I managed to get the game + all DLC bundles for 40 EUR, took me years of checking my wishlist though, but after the money well Taiko no Tatsujin was .. I learned XD
Thumper is quite unique, and short compared to other rythm games (and there's no DLC!), so if you're into the old NIN or industrial kind of music, definitely give it a try.
Cheers!
We had a tornado go through our area this week, so it took out our electric and trees all around us. Thank God me and my family are safe and the house is still standing. We just recently got power back late the other night.
So while I'd probably already be done or getting close, I'm still playing TTYD. Enjoying every second of the game too!
On the second chapter of paper Mario and the thousand year door. Beginning it anyway. Love the game so far. Never finished the original.
Also playing 13 sentinels with my friend while he plays it on ps5. I am playing it on switch. We are both loving it. Very deep and complicated but it’s a good thing in this case. I am doing the characters/visual novel part until I can’t anymore or get bored with it and then go do some battles.
Golden sun 2 the lost age. Played and beat the first one a few years ago finally 😂. Was happy to see these games be on switch online. I am still only a few hours in. I am not happy being the other cast after playing with the original cast from the first game but I know that they come later in the second game. Just want to reach that point. 😂
Why Paper Mario, of course! About to start Chapter 6, my favourite one. Just that, I don't know how some of you can juggle piles of games all at the same time.
Stellar blade still for me this weekend 😊
I know this is blasphemous to admit but I haven’t started Tears of the Kingdom yet. So I’m starting tonight!
Currently playing Zelda Phantom Hourglass. I never finished the ds games so I'm finally getting on that.
I've got a few great games on the go at the moment:
Metroid Dread (Switch)
Binary Domain (Steam)
Resident Evil 3 (Xbox One X)
God of War Ragnarok (PS5)
When my weekend starts I'm finally hoping to wrap up the last expansion "Tales of Valor" from the Company of Heroes Collection. That game is such a gem.
Rolled the credits on Animal Well last night. Is there really that much left to do? I'm sure hoping so. I've really enjoyed it so far.
Paper Mario! Also, I randomly went back to Pokemon Sword for a bit yesterday, so I might kill some time playing that while watching some One Piece or Bleach today.
Final Fantasy XVI - Halfway done with the Rising Tide DLC.
Cat Quest - A few hours in on this one and having a very fun time with it.
Tears of the Kingdom - Finding 8 more Shrines to finish that part of the game. Will probably complete a few side quests/adventures too while finding those Shrines.
Still recovering from being sick, so just a couple low-energy no-coordination-required games for me this week. Happy weekend and gaming everyone.
XDefiant (Series X) Double XP weekend time to grind out some guns.
World of Warcraft (PC) About to hit level 70 with my Troll Paladin in MoP Remix. Never thought I would enjoy playing a Paladin so much.
Apex and Fortnite since SP games bore me too much anymore. Why am I trying to best a bunch of lines of code again? There's no test of skill in that.
It's lovely seeing the sweaty Fortnite kids seethe because of this seasons car meta though. I think it's just pure fun chaos. Sadly the whiney "influencers" have already had Epic start nerfing the fun.
After trying again and spending close to half an hour adjusting settings, Apex gyro controls aren't THAT bad but they still feel weird to me. I think it only uses the Switches center readings on the gyro so you have to hold it in a certain position or it gets drifty feeling trying to correct itself. Definitely not as buttery smooth and perfect as Overwatch's gyro but I'm still squad wiping on my dinky Lite at 30fps.
Was ambushed by a dogsitting request so will be playing Picross S Namco Legendary edition this weekend. And i bought Please, Touch the Artwork cuz it was dirt cheap and Gavin seemed to get a real kick out of it.
Next week i have eyeball surgery.. so i might have to lay off gaming for a few days. Not sure. But after, i shall be free of work and medical stuffz and intend to game at will.
Happy gaming all and take care of each other!
@Total_Weirdo - Is the online on Switch still pretty popular?
going between doom eternal/ancient gods part 1 which is hard and diablo 2.
@Yalloo I’m into all kinds of music, industrial included. It’s just when it comes to rhythm games, I get into the game more when the music is high energy.
Taiko no Tatsujin is a decent one. I just haven’t bothered to purchase it still.
I think Groove Coaster and (once I get it) Arcaea will be my mains for Switch.
I’m totally willing to spend a good $3k-$5k for a Wacca machine if it’s the only way I can play. Lol
Actually not going to be playing much this weekend, aside from the Daily Commissions in Genshin Impact. Going to a wedding here in a few minutes, which is going to take up most of the afternoon and part of the evening, and then I'll be spending tomorrow with my girlfriend; we'll be going to the movie theater to see The Garfield Movie, and then we'll probably go back to her place to continue watching The Mandalorian.
I may give my "brand new" copy of Wii Party U a go.
I say in quotation marks because the cardboard box containing the bundle was open and it was missing the black Wiimote Plus, but the GamePad horizontal stand was there and the game itself is sealed. Not bad for 300 Mexican pesos (about $16-$18), especially when appaarently the horizontal stand by itself can cost about $25.
May eventually also buy a copy of Wii Party from the same guy who sold me the Wii U game.
I'll be playing Paper Mario TTYD of course! That'll be the only thing I really play until I finish it
Super Mario Bros
Metroid
Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
Working double shifts today and tomorrow, so little time to play. Dredge is free on PSN. I'll give that game a quick try.
Shin megami tensei IV apocalypse on my 3DS. (A masterpiece)
Senua Sacrifice 2 on xbox (Because I Really like Ninja Theory games, and the lack of menu and upgrades, and skilltrees ans all that modern stuff they fill the games with now)
And veeeeery slowly progressing though GOW ragnarock (Its fun… but the story does not hold my attention like the first one did)
Paper Mario TTYD and Tears of the Kingdom for me!
@Total_Weirdo - Same for me! I was born in 1984 so prime Ghostbusters era here! Wanna trade FCs so we can maybe play together sometime?
My UN is CRB1984 and FC is 5658-8476-2295
Pokemon Scarlet. I have such a hard time staying focused! I was prepping my team to take on one of the Indigo Battle League reps, but I keep getting distracted catching more 'Mons.
Honestly, playing it these days, I'm enjoying it even more than I did at launch! All the updates have helped make the game run more smoothly, and dare I say it actually looks very pretty with the shimmering reflections on the rocks and water.
Pokemon Legends Arceus. Getting around to catching and training some of my favorite Pokemon hiding around Hisui, as well as looking up how to collect all the starters in one save. Really enjoying the differences between Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet, like the graphics, art style, battle animations, etc etc., especially the ability to walk around the battle freely before selecting an attack. Also enjoy how PLA is structured closer to a survivalist game with resources to collect and items to craft. If Legends Z-A doesn't do this, then I hope another spinoff explores these survivalist mechanics again soon!
On Switch - Endless Ocean Luminous and Paper Mario 1000 Year Door.
On Steam - Hellblade 2 (Amazing game btw) and finishing up Ghost of Tsushima.
I wrapped up getting the Autobuild in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and my affairs at Lookout Landing, so it's off to Lanayru next. It's on to World 2 in New Super Mario Bros. Wonder and it's a joy so far. I got a few demos I'm going to play too:
Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog
Penny's Big Breakaway
Picross S Namco Legendary Edition
No retro this week, so the Picross S Namco Legendary Edition demo will have to suffice.
I've recently got back into playing Octopath traveller and really stuck at it this time and appreciated the game. I'll admit I got put off because you couldn't just build up money and buy the best weapons, which now I really enjoy this aspect of the game. I'm also playing Bravely Default 2 and really enjoying the story and job system in that game, I want do everything I can in it. Paper TTYD is another one I've been giving time too, I missed out on the GC release and really I got it this time round, its just soooo good!! FF6 pixel remaster is another one I've enjoyed playing alot of recently, I love the story and atmosphere it conveys. Considering this came out in 1994 that's some feat!!
Just finished EarthBound again last night. The last few hours of the game were just as chillingly beautiful as I remembered. I also explored the postgame a little more than before…biking in Deep Darkness is still a highlight. Kept my old Baseball Cap from Magicant so I could put that back on at the end, too (yeah, ik it’s just a weak defense item but idc). I believe Ness was level 89 by the end, at least partly due to my Sword of Kings grind in Stonehenge (which was grueling, but still worth it). Still a very special game…and quite possibly my favorite of all time. That’s saying a lot, because Beginnings and Mother 3 are really special, too.
And speaking of Mother 3, it’s that game’s turn now! It’s very different from Beginnings and EarthBound in setting and tone, but it remains another shining masterpiece from Itoi, and I’m looking forward to crying at the ending all over again.
Aside from that, I’ll be checking in on my island in Tomodachi Life. So far, I’ve married Maya Fey from Ace Attorney, and Nate Adams from Yo-kai Watch has successfully brought together Mario and Peach as well as Ninten and Ana from EarthBound Beginnings. Peach is best friends with Katie Forester, Phoenix Wright has an opera solo about tough cases and Peter Pan is watching all this unfold as he remains 12 years old forever. Only Tomodachi Life, y’all.
Darkstalkers 3 (Switch), Panzer Dragoon: Orta (Xbox), Prehistorik Man (Evercade)
Working this weekend, so not a lot of time to play, maybe a game of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate with the kidlets. Still in my quest to catch up on the Legend of Heroes series, although Falcom is coming out with games faster than I can finish them 😅
Happy gaming everyone!
@Link41x the height of option football from days long gone by.
I just feel compelled to recognize anyone who remembers that somewhat obscure little gem.
Guys...

Finally I bought PS5 machine yesterday. 😁
And I played these two PS5 games on this Sunday after I have installed all my 16 PS5 games.
1. Kao the Kangaroo
2. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
Arkham Asylum. Since I've only ever owned a Nintendo, I never played this before. Really cool.
@DemonKow I wasn't sure anyone on here would even know what the CFL is I've been an Argos fan for nearly fifteen years at this point.
Just got Super Mario Bros. Wonder a few hours ago, so time to fire this baby up and use Daisy of course.
@Anti-Matter LOVE your choices for first PS5 games.
@Anti-Matter well are you enjoying your new PS5?
@AmplifyMJ
Yup.
Looks like my hype is switched to PS5 currently and I will play a lot of my purchased PS5 games.
@Anti-Matter enjoy!
Well this is a bit of a late WAYP this week but you gotta forgive me it’s what occurs when you gotta deal with the state of Maryland. Yes I’m officially back home and done with vacation. That’s where I wanna start actually as I just feel really sentimental. Got a lot of cool stuff that happened over the vacation. Beat loads of games like Another Code and Princess Peach and the FFXVI DLC. Got to start cool new ones like Paper Mario. Stuff like experiencing Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261 in the midst of a brutal sunburn just absolutely destroying me making me feel like I was in the chapter will be memories for years. Getting into X-men or seeing King and Queen of the Ring equally as awesome. But really yall the thing that was the best was quality time with my stepdad on the beach. The most beautiful beach you could ever imagine. The most delicious dinners you’ve ever had. The most relaxing times you could ever imagine. I guess I’m saying all this to encourage all of yall to take a step back from games sometimes and enjoy a beautiful thing like a beach. Anyway onto the games like these things are meant for ahaha. Weekend was chill with just some Nayuta before Trails Through Daybreak and yet some more Persona 3 Reload before Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. Honestly in between going back to work this week I’m thinking this weeks gonna be kinda chill with games. Just some Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door. Some Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Some AI:Nirvana Initiative. Some Stellar Blade. Some Sand Land. Some Star Ocean 2. Next big game I’m working on is gonna be Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and I wanna get that done before the launch of FFXIV: Dawntrail at the end of this month. Only other real plans is Furiosa on my birthday on Saturday. Oh and Summer Game Fest on Friday too ahaha. Got these excellent Japan only Monster Hunter Stories amiibos too they’re absolutely beautiful. Anime of the week gotta go to Kaiju No.8, The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio, Delicious in Dungeon and Urusei Yatsura of course. Simply excellent shows that always make me smile. Podcasts of this week gotta go to the usuals of Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast,Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind and Cultaholic Wrestling. And of course we wouldn’t be quite done without a big amazing shoutout to my dear friend over at twitch,tv/akibread and their superb streams please give them a watch. As we head into the Summer Game Fest streams by all these different companies I gotta admit I’m pretty dang excited. Oh and Happy Pride to all. But as always yall stay safe, be kind to each other, have a excellent week and weekend and Happy Gaming.
