Re: A New Limited-Time Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Tera Raid Battle Has Begun

Tott

Was able to drum up a code online (I haven't beaten the game yet) and was able to catch it. But what's this about a mightiest mark? Is that supposed to be shown somewhere or what? Mine says nothing of the sort.
Just an innocently under informed trainer here... mostly on purpose, trying to fly about as blind as I can through the game.

Re: Soapbox: How To Improve Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's Open World

Tott

@N8tiveT3ch
Agreed. I'd love to see something like HG/SS size — a couple regions so there's more than 'just' 8 badges, and a decent post game. But give it to me in something like HD-2D style.

3D has been a great advancement in gaming. But once in a while I'd love to see some more 2D releases mixed in.
New HD-2D Zelda game? Sign me up.
New 2D Mario game (closer to SMW than NSMB style)? Hell yea.

We don't always need the 100+hr sprawling open world games. Mix it up.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Overtakes Zelda In Famitsu's Most-Wanted Games List

Tott

I'll buy both, don't get me wrong. But far more excitement for ToTK, simply because that's where I have more faith in a proper end product. Both will be good, but SV will have aspects, no doubt, that they'll be lacking in and I'm sure it'll bring down parts of the game a bit. Where I fully expect ToTK to be brilliant in almost every aspect.
...and based on track records, well...

Re: Poll: What's The Best Mario Party Game?

Tott

Probably nostalgia speaking, but Mario Party 4.
I want to see updates to Superstars. Different modes, more boards, more characters all available for online play. Then Superstars could be there. I want more than 4 boards and what, 10 characters? It's rather stale already.

Re: Soapbox: Endless Zelda Remakes Are A Poor Substitute For Backwards Compatibility

Tott

I don't really understand what all the negativity in the comments is about here. I liked the article.
Overall I feel very similarly to the spirit of the piece — I would like easier access to those previous generations' games that I've already purchased and can no longer play.
Does Kate need to have solutions? No, it's a soapbox article, not a technical presentation. Nor should writers of opinion pieces be subjected to constant put- downs, rude remarks, and arguments just because they have a different view or you think it's not practical.

Is this how you respond to hearing an opinion in person? Do better.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Online, Game Pass, And 'New' PS Plus - How Do They Compare?

Tott

This is like comparing rich and poor kid athletes with the emo kid out by the bins.

Xbox (rich kid) has parents with money to throw around and buy them the best coaches and assistants ever to give them the leg up.

PS (poor kid) is trying admirably and arguably out performing in some areas but just can't quite compare to the competition overall due to the additional assistance the competition can afford.

Nintendo (emo kid by the bins) you shouldn't even ask because they just don't give AF and will continue to do their own thing regardless.

Re: Feature: Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Is The Best Mario Kart, Right? Let's Find Out

Tott

The mechanics of getting team specific items (which I saw someone already mentioned you didn't need both members to get, I always mixed too) and being able to store an item for later I think should make a return. You've always had the ability to have two items, sure, but to continuously bank a red shell in first place while you keep getting coins and bananas is surely missed.

Re: Talking Point: Which Other 'Old' Switch Games Would You Like To See Get New DLC?

Tott

Mario Party Superstars, and more Mario Golf. The "party" type games like these would be a no brainer.
Golf got a few more courses and characters, but I'd like to see more proper courses as opposed to the ones we got where "hole 16 is just hitting from 4's tee box onto 12's green" type design. The free stuff was good, but I'd pay for more full courses and characters at this point. It's such a good base, just needs more.

Re: Feature: 5 Accessibility Features That Every Game Should Have

Tott

Love this, and love that it's becoming more and more of a talking point.

While I don't doubt some of these options aren't easy and could cost a decent amount to implement, I think it should become more standard in the extremely popular and profitable franchises. This way it'll get out to many many people quicker — and in theory they can afford it. I'm thinking Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon as easy targets on Nintendo systems. And once it's been done, they have a strong base to tweak in the future as opposed to having to build an entire accessibility package for the next game.

I don't know the slightest about coding, so I'm sorry if it doesn't work quite like that.

But especially for these large franchises, I'd like to see more options included in every game. It's only going to help then sell more anyways.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

Tott

OG Switch. Got a screen protector and case right away, so it still looks brand new.
Been lucky to only have to send in one pair of joy con for drift issues (I have 2 pairs).
Been pretty lucky with Nintendo units. Though I'm also very picky about hand hygiene when using my expensive things, so that's certainly helped all around.
