Re: US Physical Game Spending Continued To Decline Last Year, Now Sits At Half 2021's Numbers

TheBigK

See it's just that I want my games now and so I've largely abandoned physical media. Seriously though, it does boil down to convenience for me. Constantly swapping out cards is a pain and I love having all my games right there ready to launch. I save a little bit of money with the game vouchers and using a province with lower taxes for location, too. Now, does this number include phone and PC games? Because they only continue to grow.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (18th January)

TheBigK

I prefer to focus on just one or two games at a time, but there's just so much going on that I need to juggle quite a few.

Donkey Kong Country Returns of course. The 3DS port was the last time I played this, and my impression of the revisit is that man this ain't no Tropical Freeze.

Tales of Graces is among my favourite Tales games, fighting with Abyss for number one, so I'm pretty pumped to play through it again for the first time in many many years. It's still great!

Pokémon Violet to shiny hunt the Flamigo outbreak event.

And I'm just wrapping up a game on the PS5, which I won't get into here on the Nintendo site.

I wanna say that comes from his Japanese collectivist perspective. Don't be an arsehole and ruin things for the rest of us, you have a obligation to respect others whether you like it or not. Over here, though, yeah look out for number one and chase your own ego for pretend internet points, look how cool I am wooo!

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

It'll be interesting to see how it sells. Sales numbers of their iterative, more-of-the-same hardware have always been lower than their predecessors, right, so while I predict initial sales to be incredible, it'll remain to be seen whether the general user base will feel the need to upgrade. But hey, I've been wrong before. I thought no one would buy the Switch given the poor faith the Wii U generated, and look how that turned out 🤣

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?

TheBigK

It was pretty good. It's just nice knowing this is all real and concrete. Was hoping they'd show another game or two, and Mario Kart, at least from that footage, doesn't look terribly different than 8, but I'm not too worried about it. The close-ups were really nice, I liked the splashes of colour, the Joy-con snaps were cool. A little big for my tastes but I'm sure I'll get used it once it's in my hands.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th January)

I've been primarily playing my PS5 the past couple weeks, but on the Nintendo front it's been my daily check-ins for F-Zero 99 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I feel like I should start chipping away Dragon Quest 3 and Yakuza Kiwami, but I'd rather play the other remakes coming out next week 🤣

Re: Round Up: 'Switch 2' Renders Suggest A Sleek, Classy Successor

TheBigK

With all these crazy leaks and rumours going around, it's hard to keep track of everything so I really appreciate you guys compiling it all here. Even if it all turns out to be fake, I'm still having a lot of fun engaging with it. Also the black one looks super sleek. I usually like white consoles but the black one here does look better.

Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?

TheBigK

Thank you! Yes, it is too big. I like my portables to be as portable as possible. I mean, I'm still buying it day one but I'd have preferred it smaller. If the Switch Lite was dockable, it would be my version of choice. That form factor is beautiful. While handheld is my primary way to play, I like docking it on weekends when I play for extended periods. I assume a Lite version of the successor won't be dockable either, which would be a bummer. Assuming this is all legit idk

Re: Talking Point: Our 2025 Nintendo Gaming Predictions

TheBigK

I'm most concerned with the price point, and I'm not expecting it to be low. As loath as I am to say, I firmly believe it'll be $500 USD. Here in Canada, the PS5 price converts to $650 but the current exchange rate of 500 USD is 720 CAD. $720, before taxes. That's the potential I'm looking at and that's simply too much money.

Re: Feature: Open Your Drawers - An Ode To Rummaging Through Houses In RPGs

TheBigK

Stealing is fun. But I will say that I'm so used to linear, brisk gameplay that I now find it a pain in the arse to explore towns when I enter them. Like, I normally just make a beeline for the item and equipment shops and then continue the story, so I'm finding it a chore to aimlessly wander a town in Dragon Quest looking for loot. It's sad, I grew up in the 90s where this was the norm but modern games have sapped away my patience and attention span 😭

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024 - Our Most Played Games

TheBigK

Animal Crossing, then F-Zero 99, then the GBA app. I worked on my Animal Crossing island a ton during the back half of the year and decided to actually complete the DLC, so it being number one comes as no surprise.

I did a lot of the F-Zero events this year, so that tracks. I did let it idle quite a bit, though, so the hour count isn't entirely accurate.

I don't remember what released on GBA this year but I love GBA so it still makes sense lol

I'm surprised Pokémon Violet didn't make the top three because I did quite a bit of shiny hunting this year but F-Zero idling probably skewed the numbers.
