Re: Poll: What's The Best Xenoblade Game? Rate Your Favourite For Our Upcoming Ranking

TheBigK

3 is a masterpiece, one of the greatest JRPGs I've ever played. 1 is also a fantastic game that I have a lot of affection for. 2 can rot in a ditch, I hated the gameplay and systems so much. I just watched the cutscenes on YouTube to give more context to 3. I played X very briefly on the Wii U but I fell off pretty quickly. Not because it wasn't a good game but because the Wii U wasn't exactly a pick up and play console with the load times and being tethered to a single room. I'm excited to give it a real go with this port.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8th March)

TheBigK

Definitely Donkey Kong 94 and Mario's Picross, I'm pretty happy they were added to NSO. Animal Crossing for sure, and maybe some shiny hunting in Pokémon Violet. I did the Skeledirge raid last night, which made me think of the other fire starters, so I'm gonna hunt for one I don't have a shiny of yet.

Re: Feature: These Past 8 Years Have Been A Privilege

TheBigK

It's been a ride, that's for sure. The Switch came out the year I started with my current employer. Since then, I've gone back to school and obtained my full certification. It's seen me through the biggest career-focused part of my life so far and so I'm looking forward to seeing how the Switch 2 supports whatever the hell comes next.

Re: Anniversary: Nintendo Switch Launched On This Day Eight Years Ago

TheBigK

I was in my late 20s when the Switch came out and now I'm in my mid 30s. It saw me through the establishment of my career. I'm making enough money now to comfortably afford the Switch 2 and so I wonder what life milestones it'll get me through. This is when things kinda slow down and get monotonous, right? It'll be the ultimate boredom killer!

Re: Pokémon Champions Limited To "Select Pokémon" At Launch

TheBigK

Wolfe Glick has a theory where this will more or less become the platform for VGC moving forward. If that's the case, the selection isn't like super important. They really just need to focus on what's tournament legal for the time being. That's still a lot of Pokémon, though.

Re: Feature: Every Pokémon We Saw In The New Legends: Z-A Trailer

TheBigK

@AussieMcBucket Here's my logic with the starter selection:

Megas are back and I figure the starters will each get a new Mega Evolution.

The Kanto starters already have Megas, plus they were like secondary starters in XY.

Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott were in the last one so they're out.

The Hoenn starters already have Megas. Out.

Kalos is being showcased and they want to distance this from the last Legends game, so the Sinnoh starters are out.

Snivy is eligible, maybe it came down to it and Tepig so they went with two Johto and one Unova, but it could have been the inverse?

Kalos starters are obviously out.

Litten and Popplio are eligible, as are the Galar starters? Maybe? Is Galar too recent? Are the other Alola starters too recent to warrant Megas? Surely they won't relegate new Megas to Gen 6 and prior. I dunno, I feel like they could have used one of these. Maybe Snivy, Litten, and Totodile. Keep Totodile, I want a badass regional and Mega Feraligatr.

Yeah Paldea is out, obviously.

Re: Poll: Will You Trade In Your Switch When Switch 2 Arrives?

TheBigK

I have a Lite that I could part with. I love the little thing but it's just a collectible for me. I have an OLED but it's a little banged up so I don't think I'd get much for it.

What I'll probably end up doing, though, is selling my PS5. I'd really rather not but honestly it's not my primary device. I hardly touch it outside of the odd exclusive that comes out once or twice a year. I have some significant and necessary expenses coming up so I gotta sell some stuff if I want the Switch 2.

Re: Poll: Which Pokémon Game Really Deserves A Remake Next?

TheBigK

After BDSP, I am done with the remakes. What I loved about the remakes prior to that is that they brought the older games up to the standards of the then-current generation. Same visual style, same mechanics, compatibility with its contemporaries, and all Pokémon available up to that point. Like the third version but just in a totally different region. But the Pokédex got too big so now each set of games has its own selection. So it's not like a remake can be based on the paired versions anymore. Which means that they have to be their own standalone thing now, and more mechanically faithful remakes seem to be the easier approach. There is the Let's Go route, but I consider those more spin-offs than remakes because of how wildly different they play. They don't modernize Yellow in the same way FRLG did with Red and Blue.

Re: Best Wario Games Of All Time

TheBigK

I'm pleased to see Wario Land 1 that high. But Wario Land 2 down that far??? I don't think so, man, that deserves the top spot. My order would be WL2, WL1, WL3, WL4, Shake It, and even though I've never played Wario World or the VB one, I'm certain they'd be better than Master of Disguise.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2

TheBigK

No. I vastly prefer NSO and I am not concerned over ownership. Yeah I'm totally gonna dig the Wii out of the closet and hook it up to my ancient CRT to play Donkey Kong Country. Just give me the catalogue on whatever the current hardware is so I don't have to keep buying the same games over and over. It's simple, super convenient, and the yearly fee is inconsequential.

Re: Talking Point: Why An LCD Screen Isn't The End Of The World For Switch 2

TheBigK

I'm most certainly not an image quality snob; I'll often play on the TV without my glasses on because I literally can't be bothered to wear them. I do have an OLED Switch but it was less an upgrade and more my OG unit was falling apart. The screen is pretty good, but I also have a Lite I play on occasion and I find that screen just as good, takes me no time at all to adjust. If it keeps the price down, I say give 'er

Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?

TheBigK

Those are some really neat suggestions. Bowser's castle could be really cool and totally be the setting for a darker entry. Super Nintendo World is such a neat idea, too. I will never in a million years get to visit it myself so a 1:1 recreation to explore would be pretty dope. Then then darkness sets in, the fog rolls in, and the spooky creatures come out, it would be a blast.
