3 is a masterpiece, one of the greatest JRPGs I've ever played. 1 is also a fantastic game that I have a lot of affection for. 2 can rot in a ditch, I hated the gameplay and systems so much. I just watched the cutscenes on YouTube to give more context to 3. I played X very briefly on the Wii U but I fell off pretty quickly. Not because it wasn't a good game but because the Wii U wasn't exactly a pick up and play console with the load times and being tethered to a single room. I'm excited to give it a real go with this port.
Well... Red wears a baseball cap. Balls are thrown around. I can see it. So you whack a Poké ball out of the park, and you try to aim for a monster to catch it? Or you miss the swing and the pitcher's monster comes out of the ball for a battle? There's something there!
Definitely Donkey Kong 94 and Mario's Picross, I'm pretty happy they were added to NSO. Animal Crossing for sure, and maybe some shiny hunting in Pokémon Violet. I did the Skeledirge raid last night, which made me think of the other fire starters, so I'm gonna hunt for one I don't have a shiny of yet.
Yeah he implemented that 25% tariff on Canada, too. Which we responded with tariffs of our own, and a lot of businesses are refusing to stock American products outright. It's a bit of a mess. As long as it's just American game prices that are affected, I'm good. But we'll see.
They need to fix the loading and buffering issue. Playback frequently just stops with that loading symbol going. Sometimes it'll start up again, and it can be over a minute waiting, and other times I need to pause and play or drag the bar a bit to jostle it into playing again.
It's been a ride, that's for sure. The Switch came out the year I started with my current employer. Since then, I've gone back to school and obtained my full certification. It's seen me through the biggest career-focused part of my life so far and so I'm looking forward to seeing how the Switch 2 supports whatever the hell comes next.
I was in my late 20s when the Switch came out and now I'm in my mid 30s. It saw me through the establishment of my career. I'm making enough money now to comfortably afford the Switch 2 and so I wonder what life milestones it'll get me through. This is when things kinda slow down and get monotonous, right? It'll be the ultimate boredom killer!
Wolfe Glick has a theory where this will more or less become the platform for VGC moving forward. If that's the case, the selection isn't like super important. They really just need to focus on what's tournament legal for the time being. That's still a lot of Pokémon, though.
@AussieMcBucket Here's my logic with the starter selection:
Megas are back and I figure the starters will each get a new Mega Evolution.
The Kanto starters already have Megas, plus they were like secondary starters in XY.
Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott were in the last one so they're out.
The Hoenn starters already have Megas. Out.
Kalos is being showcased and they want to distance this from the last Legends game, so the Sinnoh starters are out.
Snivy is eligible, maybe it came down to it and Tepig so they went with two Johto and one Unova, but it could have been the inverse?
Kalos starters are obviously out.
Litten and Popplio are eligible, as are the Galar starters? Maybe? Is Galar too recent? Are the other Alola starters too recent to warrant Megas? Surely they won't relegate new Megas to Gen 6 and prior. I dunno, I feel like they could have used one of these. Maybe Snivy, Litten, and Totodile. Keep Totodile, I want a badass regional and Mega Feraligatr.
I have a Lite that I could part with. I love the little thing but it's just a collectible for me. I have an OLED but it's a little banged up so I don't think I'd get much for it.
What I'll probably end up doing, though, is selling my PS5. I'd really rather not but honestly it's not my primary device. I hardly touch it outside of the odd exclusive that comes out once or twice a year. I have some significant and necessary expenses coming up so I gotta sell some stuff if I want the Switch 2.
After BDSP, I am done with the remakes. What I loved about the remakes prior to that is that they brought the older games up to the standards of the then-current generation. Same visual style, same mechanics, compatibility with its contemporaries, and all Pokémon available up to that point. Like the third version but just in a totally different region. But the Pokédex got too big so now each set of games has its own selection. So it's not like a remake can be based on the paired versions anymore. Which means that they have to be their own standalone thing now, and more mechanically faithful remakes seem to be the easier approach. There is the Let's Go route, but I consider those more spin-offs than remakes because of how wildly different they play. They don't modernize Yellow in the same way FRLG did with Red and Blue.
I'm not expecting Legends, but who knows, it's been a literal year since the initial announcement. They have to have something, right? I'm just used to Pokémon Presents being largely uninteresting.
Those money grubbing landlubbers! I'd they're gonna just do a replacement on the next system, at least wait until we approach its release date. This is dumb.
I'm pleased to see Wario Land 1 that high. But Wario Land 2 down that far??? I don't think so, man, that deserves the top spot. My order would be WL2, WL1, WL3, WL4, Shake It, and even though I've never played Wario World or the VB one, I'm certain they'd be better than Master of Disguise.
@Tyranexx That's how I feel as well. Functionally, my digital alarm clock plus my phone are more than enough to get my arse out of bed. Despite that, I do still consider buying one of these just because it seems so fun lol
No. I vastly prefer NSO and I am not concerned over ownership. Yeah I'm totally gonna dig the Wii out of the closet and hook it up to my ancient CRT to play Donkey Kong Country. Just give me the catalogue on whatever the current hardware is so I don't have to keep buying the same games over and over. It's simple, super convenient, and the yearly fee is inconsequential.
You guys suck. Suck ered me into clicking because my tired arse read that as something pertaining to Metroid Prime 4. You can take my view but you can never take my fighting spirit!
I'm most certainly not an image quality snob; I'll often play on the TV without my glasses on because I literally can't be bothered to wear them. I do have an OLED Switch but it was less an upgrade and more my OG unit was falling apart. The screen is pretty good, but I also have a Lite I play on occasion and I find that screen just as good, takes me no time at all to adjust. If it keeps the price down, I say give 'er
At the very least, there should be a tagged by user function but allow the user to create the tag themselves, because I'm sure Nintendo wouldn't create "terrible" or "slop" tags.
That's only $50 more than the OLED, so I really hope that's what it ends up being. It's basically the cheapest I'd expect it to be. Way more palatable than, say, the $960 PS5 Pro
Abyss for me. I only played the 3DS version and it's still my favourite in the series. Know what else I want to see? Legendia. That game is so weird but I have an inexplicable attachment to it and if it somehow gets a rerelease, I'd get it day one.
Those are some really neat suggestions. Bowser's castle could be really cool and totally be the setting for a darker entry. Super Nintendo World is such a neat idea, too. I will never in a million years get to visit it myself so a 1:1 recreation to explore would be pretty dope. Then then darkness sets in, the fog rolls in, and the spooky creatures come out, it would be a blast.
No. People think they want it back because it's a meme. No one cared when it was around then and I'm sure no would care if it came back. I suppose that's as good an argument as any to bring it back... Sure, why not, hardly anyone will actually do anything with it but there's no harm in extra features.
I'm honestly surprised Donkey Kong is selling as well as it is, continuing to be up top. I personally find it to be the weakest of all the Country games and is not great compared to Tropical Freeze which is right there alongside it for comparison, but maybe I'm just the weird one.
Waiting with bated breath on this one. I knew they weren't going to slash the price on the Switch and there is no reality in which this thing costs the same as or less than the current OLED model. The OLED is $450 here, and I expect the Switch 2 to be around $550. Then the 15% provincial sales tax on top of that.
Precisely why I'd never in a million years consider games as a profession. I rather enjoy games as a fun way to unwind and working with them as a full-time job would suck the fun right out of it.
I don't foresee them lowering the price. Number sales just don't concern them, they care about dollar sales. They drop the price and they cut into their profit margins. It'll beat the PS2's bs numbers in time as long as they keep it on the market anyway.
I figure we'll get a February direct, with the big ol' [please note that neither the Nintendo Switch 2 nor its software will be featured in this event] precaution slapped on the post
Gardevoir is one of those Pokémon that I try to avoid using because of its weird, too human design, but that 125 special attack fairy coverage is too powerful. It's just so useful in a playthrough team.
I can't believe it's been almost five years since New Horizons came out. It still feels pretty new and fresh to me. Unlike New Leaf, which felt stale and played out at this point.
