I'm very glad that they decided to go with the current apps. I got to play a lot of weird and interesting games that I absolutely would not have paid for individually. And it's nice to have them included with my NSO subscription instead of having to spend more money to buy them.
I've been primarily playing my PS5 the past couple weeks, but on the Nintendo front it's been my daily check-ins for F-Zero 99 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I feel like I should start chipping away Dragon Quest 3 and Yakuza Kiwami, but I'd rather play the other remakes coming out next week 🤣
With all these crazy leaks and rumours going around, it's hard to keep track of everything so I really appreciate you guys compiling it all here. Even if it all turns out to be fake, I'm still having a lot of fun engaging with it. Also the black one looks super sleek. I usually like white consoles but the black one here does look better.
Thank you! Yes, it is too big. I like my portables to be as portable as possible. I mean, I'm still buying it day one but I'd have preferred it smaller. If the Switch Lite was dockable, it would be my version of choice. That form factor is beautiful. While handheld is my primary way to play, I like docking it on weekends when I play for extended periods. I assume a Lite version of the successor won't be dockable either, which would be a bummer. Assuming this is all legit idk
I always dismiss rumours in the like, but this thing is being showcased at an official industry event, so I'm actually inclined to believe it's the real deal. I really wonder what Nintendo is thinking and doing about it.
It would be super funny if this was all just an elaborate red herring "leaked" by Nintendo themselves. They'll announce the real thing as the Bait N' Switch and it'll be some bizarre monstrosity from the darkest depths of R&D hell
I'm most concerned with the price point, and I'm not expecting it to be low. As loath as I am to say, I firmly believe it'll be $500 USD. Here in Canada, the PS5 price converts to $650 but the current exchange rate of 500 USD is 720 CAD. $720, before taxes. That's the potential I'm looking at and that's simply too much money.
I mean, Mario & Luigi looks pretty decent, but among the best? No way, man. A tad bit bland. Now the Paper Mario remake, those visuals are hot diggity dope
Stealing is fun. But I will say that I'm so used to linear, brisk gameplay that I now find it a pain in the arse to explore towns when I enter them. Like, I normally just make a beeline for the item and equipment shops and then continue the story, so I'm finding it a chore to aimlessly wander a town in Dragon Quest looking for loot. It's sad, I grew up in the 90s where this was the norm but modern games have sapped away my patience and attention span ðŸ˜
I'm enjoying it for the most part. Levels are a little too long, though, and I'm dying a lot in the boss fights. That's more a commentary on my casual tastes, though, rather than faults of the game.
My gut says January but who knows. In any case, it would be really funny if the official name is "The Successor to Nintendo Switch." Leave no room for interpretation lol
Animal Crossing, then F-Zero 99, then the GBA app. I worked on my Animal Crossing island a ton during the back half of the year and decided to actually complete the DLC, so it being number one comes as no surprise.
I did a lot of the F-Zero events this year, so that tracks. I did let it idle quite a bit, though, so the hour count isn't entirely accurate.
I don't remember what released on GBA this year but I love GBA so it still makes sense lol
It's pretty amusing if nothing else. I'm perfectly happy with the current Switch and have tons to play, but I'll still be purchasing the follow up day one whenever it does come because I have no self control whatsoever lol
I don't really remember what all came out this year, and I don't wanna pore through that big list. I guess Zelda was pretty good? Not mind blowing or anything but it was enjoyable.
I'm hoping we'll get it at some point. Though there's a good chance I'll find the gameplay unpalatable to my current soft tastes and drop it like I did with Banjo Tooie. I can't believe I 100%'d Banjo back then, because man is it ever a slog now.
I doubt Microsoft would commit to keeping a handheld alive, and they'd just make it a Game Pass machine which needs to be always online, which kind of defeats the purpose. I'd be interested in a new PSP type thing from Sony in order to actually play through the meaty JRPGs I enjoy, but they would need to support it and forgo expensive proprietary storage options.
I dropped it pretty quick after it came out originally and I don't really remember how it plays. I'll check out a gameplay video and decide if I want to buy this full one.
Mario & Luigi mostly. I've finally reached the endgame, so I'm hoping to have it cleared out tonight. The game was pretty decent but it really did overstay its welcome. I'm beating it just out of sunk cost fallacy at this point. Then it's on to the Donkey Kong Land games!
The too much water idea has been around since the GBA games, people just really played it up when ORAS released. I'm pretty sure it was something poked fun at for some time beforehand.
Day one 100%. I have both previous versions but I like playing old favourites on new hardware and also just the convenience of having things on my current device.
No idea. I am interested, though. Prime Remastered was my first serious go at those games, and after a fair bit of initial frustration, it eventually clicked and I loved it. So I'm intrigued about a remastered second and third title.

Re: Poll: Does Anyone Actually Use The Switch Joy-Con Straps?
Yes on the very rare occasion where I'm playing a game with motion controls on the TV. So basically just Pokémon Let's Go and Mario Party Jamboree. And that's more about comfort than safety

I'm surprised Pokémon Violet didn't make the top three because I did quite a bit of shiny hunting this year but F-Zero idling probably skewed the numbers.
Re: Those Switch 2 Leaks "Might Be Legit" According To New Report
Rumour has it that the rumours are true!
Re: Your 'Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024' Stats Are Available Now
779 hours over 56 games. Animal Crossing up top at 95. F-Zero 99 at 82, then GBA at 55. Pretty decent.

Day one, can't wait!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (7th December)
I got a few things on the go right now. Animal Crossing, both New Horizons and the GameCube one, Donkey Kong Land 3, F-Zero 99 again, Pokémon Violet to shiny hunt the Wooper outbreaks, and Dragon Quest 3. Mario & Luigi is finally finished so now I can move on with my life 😂

Day one 100%. I have both previous versions but I like playing old favourites on new hardware and also just the convenience of having things on my current device.
