Re: Opinion: We Really Don't Need A Donkey Kong Timeline

TheBigK

But dude, it's like they went out of their way to mess with the already established timeline. Pauline is 13 but hanging out with modern DK. Cranky Kong, in his youth, kidnapped adult Pauline, but here he's the same super old gorilla he's been since DKC? Nothing makes sense in this crazy world, man.

Re: Best Donkey Kong Games Of All Time

TheBigK

DKC2 is among the greatest games ever made and will always be my #1 DK game. I'm having a great time with Bananza but I'll need some time after rolling credits to let it settle and avoid the whole recency bias thing. As things currently stand, my top five are DKC2, Tropical Freeze, DKC1, DKC3, and DK94. We shall see if Bananza will knock something down a peg or two.

Re: iFixit Performs A Full Teardown Of Nintendo's "P**s-Poor" Pro Controller

TheBigK

I'd prefer a more respectful tone. Especially if this dude is about product reviews and repair tutorials.

"Unfortunately, Nintendo's official controller is not easily repaired by the average consumer. Damage to the unit is a very real possibility and professional repairs are likely to be quite costly, whether they be through a third party repair service or that provided by Nintendo themselves.

Overall, the build quality leaves something to be desired, so I'd advise some discretion when looking to purchase a Switch 2 controller, especially with the price point Nintendo has set."

Something like that.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza, Like Mario Kart World, Was Initially Planned For Switch 1

TheBigK

The wording has me curious. They say production was shifted when they learned of the Switch 2, but Nintendo typically begins development on the next console soon after the current one releases, right? Maybe? I think I read that somewhere once. If so, either the game started development super early or the higher ups didn't tell game dev teams about their plans for some time.

Re: Poll: How Many Hours Have You Spent In Mario Kart World So Far?

TheBigK

10 hours according to my system, but I'm the type who will walk away and let a game idle. It's okay, I give it a 7. It's a good game but it's one of the weaker titles in my opinion. I might be inclined to come back if they add more content down the road or ditch the intermission races outside of Knockout Tour but I don't see that happening.

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

TheBigK

So revoking access to games I understand. You're not purchasing the software, you're purchasing a license to run it, physical versions included. Does that extend to the hardware, too? Like you don't actually own the machine but instead have the license to use the OS? Is this something that exists for products in other industries? Regardless, I'm fairly certain this is not a new thing that is unique to Nintendo but the Switch 2 is the new hotness so of course it's making the rounds.

Re: Nintendo's President Apologises For Not Being Able To Meet Switch 2 Demand

TheBigK

They must just be having trouble maintaining stock in Japan, where the Switch is an actual phenomenon. It's doing well over here in North America, but everyone who wants one seems to have little trouble getting one. I walked into the electronics section of my local Walmart the other day out of curiosity and saw a console sitting there behind the glass. It was just the one but it was there!

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

TheBigK

Most of my games are digital and I think the whole key card deal is so stupid. They absolutely defeat the purpose of the convenience that digital games provide. The main appeal of physical media, to me, is to save on storage space. If the games are gonna be on my storage anyway, they may as well be able to be launched without having to swap carts out.

Re: Opinion: I Never Felt True Nostalgia Until I Played GameCube On Switch 2

TheBigK

Nice to hear the experiences of the older staff, makes me feel less ancient lol the GameCube came out when I was 12 and just entering middle school, so it was the defining video game experience of my teen years. I still have it sitting around in the closet somewhere. I'm getting zero nostalgia from the Switch app, though, as I had no interest in these initial games back then. Looking forward to future releases, especially Fire Emblem, which came out before I really got serious about the series. I would love Animal Crossing to come, but I'm not holding my breath on that one just due to save states messing with the timekeeping mechanic and cloud saves and all that.
