Re: Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period

Well it's pretty pricey, comparatively speaking, and with the cost of living what it is, I dare say that the average consumer has other priorities. I think that consumer is also fairly happy with the current Switch and feels no overwhelming desire to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading. It's currently a luxury item competing with other luxury items.

Since the Switch 2 is an iterative upgrade, I wasn't broken up over the transition. Threw my OLED in the drawer with the OG and haven't looked back. That said, 8 years is a long time and the Switch has seen me through some hard times. New jobs, going back to school, breakups, mental breakdowns, it helped me regulate over the years. For which I am very grateful.

Bought the OG model on launch day with Zelda and upgraded to the OLED when that launched. Got a Lite at some point just for the cute factor as I love miniatures. It would have been my primary unit if it had TV output. Interested to see what new models of Switch 2 they have in the pipeline.

I do wonder what they'd do if push came to shove and the only way to remain profitable was to shut down hardware and go third party. They love money, same as any company, but they're also fiercely protective of their IPs and maintain a strong, some might say insane, degree of integrity. So would they sooner go out of business than start making games for other consoles? Or would they bite the bullet and do whatever is necessary to stay afloat, pay their employees, and keep their investors happy?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

Pokémon Legends Z-A mostly. I completed all the research tasks and got the shiny charm so I've started shiny hunting, but honestly it's not a great game to hunt in. I love how they brought back the sound effect, persistent sparkles, and icon next to name but you can't increase the odds past the charm and the spawn numbers are tiny, so SV are the better games to shiny hunt in.

I played through Luigi's Mansion yesterday and today. Only five hours long if you go for all the Boos, probably less if you're not rusty like me. The big time sink this weekend, though, is Tales of Xillia Remastered. I'm still pretty early but my impression is, yep it's another Tales game all right. Which isn't a bad thing, I love the series for a reason. I also love that these remasters come with the grade shop unlocked at the start with enough grade to get everything. Makes for such a breezy, chill experience where I can just coast and enjoy the story.
