One of my favourites in the series, so I will be playing through it for the millionth time. I should do a bad unit run. Actually I'm pretty sure the Japanese version is more difficult so I might give that a go instead.
Oh wow so now they're more expensive than the Canadian ones; their 16 USD ones are 21 CAD here. Which means it's only a matter of time before ours are hiked as well because we also pay for America's mistakes 😒
I'll wait to get one until the prices start to come down a bit. As much as I dislike physical media, I'll be going physical for the time being to save on storage space. And avoiding this key card nonsense as much as I can.
Not the Donkey Kong game I was looking for, and I'm having a hard time accepting his new design, so I'm not all that interested. If nothing else, there aren't any must plays around launch so I'll be less disappointed if I don't manage to secure a console.
@BrianJL I was thinking more like an option on the home menu or something. I feel like the controller should be tailored to the average user, with more specific functions that not everyone can use left to the UI. It sounds dumb but it's just my personal idea of a good controller.
I think just having the button on the controller at all is silly. The majority of the user base will not have NSO, so dedicating a whole button on the controller to a niche and largely inaccessible function doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. And I highly doubt it will result in a significant number of users subscribing if it just brings up a prompt or something.
Don't Xbox and PlayStation games have to be fully installed from the disc anyway? That's my understanding, and if so, this is no different in practice. Not that I'd buy a key cart because the primary reason I buy the odd physical game is to avoid eating up storage space. Although I'm mostly digital with the current Switch, I do plan on changing to mostly physical with the Switch 2 because those microSD express cards are just a tad bit pricey.
@Rykdrew Some of us have empty lives devoid of meaning and this is all we have to provide some semblance of emotion. Not that I speak from experience or anything 🥴
Oh that's amusing, I just purged my entire friends list because I don't know any of those people lol a little spring cleaning before the new thing rolls around
Oh good, I assumed that I'd need to use the transfer tool. It's still a little aggravating that the game doesn't support cloud saves. Save data tampering blah blah blah
I remember when DK64 launched at $80 in 1999, and before that there were SNES games that were $70+. So honestly I'm not bothered by the pricing. Bound to happen, inflation ain't kind.
World is definitely bouncier with the characters and vehicles, but otherwise it's pretty similar to 8. In fact, I prefer 8's lighting and contrast. I'm sure I'll notice a larger difference once the game is in my hands, though.
I searched for accessory compatibility on their website earlier today, actually. I'll have no money for any after the console itself, so I wanted to know if I could still use my pro controller for the time being. The sleep mode thing is weird but okay, I'll deal with it for now I guess. Also! The Switch 1 power adapter will still the charge Switch 2 one if you plug it in directly, but it can't be used to power the dock.
At first I like, yeah so what? But then I quickly remembered that that's the American price. 60 USD games are 80 CAD. So... This is gonna be like 100? Inflation, I guess?
I registered for the invitation thing but I'm gonna try to get a preorder at a retailer next week so I can get it on launch day. I am not hopeful. So I'll likely be waiting until May for the invitations to go out, and I'm thinking that even meeting the eligibility criteria won't guarantee one. So we'll see 🤷♂️
The Mario Kart Bundle, which is what I'm gonna try to get, is $805 Canadian after that pesky 15% sales tax in my province. Yikes. But I prepared for this, I have a fat stack of cash from selling stuff.
30 hours in and just finished chapter 5. This game is massive and I'm having a great time with it. I will say, though, that it's so big that I might not actually finish it. The Lunar collection comes out in a few weeks and I am not confident in my ability to clear this before then.
See I want to say Pokémon Scarlet and Violet but its problems aren't due to the Switch being unable to run it properly. It feels rushed, lacks polish, and it very poorly optimized for the hardware. The game itself needs to be built better.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 would be super dope to see get cranked up. And give me a 4K Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Increased horsepower might help the pop in, dropped frames, and slowdown in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as well. My island has a lot of stuff set up and it gets pretty laggy when I run through the more densely populated areas.
I was expecting preorders to drop shortly after the direct. I booked the day off in preparation for hunting one down, with my first stop being the Best Buy app.
I was working when the direct happened so I just watched the trailers of what I'm interested in during my lunch break. So basically just Pokémon and Metroid. Didn't miss a whole lot, it seems.
I kind of get it but not really. I'll definitely play around with it when the update drops. I have a Lite that I like to play every now and again but it mostly just sits in a drawer because the primary secondary thing is a pain to deal with.
I dunno, man. We have countless committees at work and believe you me, nothing meaningful is ever accomplished on any of them. Except for like OHS evals
I occasionally bounce off for a couple weeks, but I'm pretty consistent. I still play every day for the most part. Especially since I've started playing the stalk market and revamping my island with new areas and major layout changes. It still feels like the hot new thing to me! I am curious about what the next one will be like, but I imagine it's still a few years away. Which is totally fine, I have a ton to do already.
I haven't owned a third party controller since the N64 days. Always afraid that they won't live up to the quality of official hardware. This is a great review, though, so it's gotten me curious.
While I do enjoy the odd Western developed game, from Rockstar for instance, my tastes definitely skew toward Japanese games. They just hit different, y'know? It's hard for me to put into words. JRPGs are my jam, homie.
Kit Ellis said he thinks that date is a bunch of baloney, especially that store opening malarkey. Yeah that makes sense, centre a worldwide product launch on the opening of a single store in a single city in a single country. Not even a single market, a single country within a single market. The US isn't the centre of the world. He used to work at Nintendo so I trust his opinion a bit more than some YouTube rando.
That's fine, I sold some things specifically for my Switch 2 fund and I can cover that fully. If it's closer to the low end, I'll be able to get a game, too, without having to use anything from my bank account.

Re: Swapping To Switch 2's Mouse Mode In Metroid Prime 4 Is As Easy As Pie
