Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong: Walkthrough & All Collectibles

SirLink

This game seems to have quickly become a cultural phenomenon; apart from causing servers to go down, everyone's talking about the price (especially with envy), but no one's mentioning the lack of DRM. Despite this, apparently, even pirates are telling people not to steal the game.
This is a complete victory for Team Cherry on all fronts, with a final humiliation for those publishers who have been whining about piracy for years as an excuse to pursue anti-consumer policies.
And this is making me change my gaming schedule, as I hadn't planned to play 3rd party games any time soon.

Re: Poll: Three Months In, How Would You Rate Switch 2's Library So Far?

SirLink

The lineup is slowly growing but we aren't there yet: Switch 2 owners can enjoy from an amazing range of games, but to be honest there are still not enough reasons to convince most existing Switch 1 owners to upgrade.

MKW is great and so is DK Bananza, although the latter got out the beta stage a bit too early IMO. Anyway, they absolutely need to release MP4 within the end of the year... and a Mario game too wouldn't hurt. Kirby Air Riders was announced too close from the MKW release, that doesn't make sense. And I can sense too many smashing actions in these games anyway. The upgrades to existing titles are amazing, but let's face it: they can't really be considered part of the Switch 2 line up.

Backwards compatibility is great, but unfortunately still an issue with many titles, and this shouldn't have happened. I hope they restart progressing on this aspect.

I still haven't played any Switch 2 specific 3rd party games yet and haven't planned to do it any time soon because of my backlog, but the upgrades for Hogwarts Legacy and No Man's Sky looked great when I tried them quickly. To be honest, I would love if CDPR did the same to Witcher 3, even only bigger textures would be enough for me, I'd even be willing to buy CP2077 again full price if they did lol

Anyway, now newer 3rd party devs could screw badly by pushing the console specs beyond its limits, so I can understand if Nintendo doesn't really give the development kit to everyone, but I'd really like to know what they planned to do with it in the future, because I'm not sure publishers would love to stand this for long. We'll see.

Re: "I Can't Afford To Give It Away For Free" - Silksong's Low Price Is Causing Devs To Re-Evaluate Their Own Games

SirLink

It's not like ONE or TEN or ONE HUNDRED buyers need to repay you for all your efforts. Sometimes such problems are solved either with advertising or by lowering prices. Lower prices, higher sales.
If it goes well, fine, otherwise, welcome to the club: there are plenty of things I'm good at and that I wanted to do in life, but I realized I wouldn't be able to make a living from them.
Do you know what happened? Some of these have become my hobbies, which I can pay for with another job.

Re: More Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes

SirLink

I didn't even know those titles existed lol
Still no YouTube, no South Park TFBW, no This War of Mine, no Borderlands 3, no Chrono Cross, no Trover Saves the World, no KOTOR2, some games like Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein TNC still untested etc. So, not exactly minor titles...
The fixes of compatibility issues were progressing well, but now they slowed down dramatically.

Still, I have to admit, they're good at not making a big deal out of the fact that these issues should have already been fixed on launch day.

Re: Review: Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion (Switch 2) - Decently Deep Mech Combat, But Clunky In Parts

SirLink

@BTB20 I'm not denying that those publishers you mentioned can discount their games heavily, although not always, but they are just a small minority. But hey, I think it's pretty pointless to do a challenge between you and me on who's got it longer when everyone else here know and can see by themselves what the truth of the eshop is, even by checking out on deku deals. It's not like I'm making anything up.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give 'Kirby & The Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World'?

SirLink

@Rijzebrew I completely agree with you. Of the hundreds of games that take more than 50-100 hours to complete, I've probably only had fun with the Mario (not really) RPGs, the Zelda series, and a few others. Most of the rest, while not "bad," is simply bloated. Once upon a time, games used to be incredibly entertaining in just 10-20 hours, though you often ended up spending much longer on them, but you already knew the challenges each one presented, and you tried harder and harder to complete them, and the more skilled you became, the faster you completed them. This Kirby game feels more "old school," while DK Bananza feels bloated to me, especially in the beginning. It feels like they released the latter unfinished but for some reason still wanted to make it last THAT long in advance, so they stuffed the beginning with unnecessary stuff. But it looks like there isn't much care for those gamers that have a life. Meanwhile, backlogs grow more and more with games that most people haven't even tried to play.

Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games & Accessories For September and October 2025

SirLink

Simon the Sorcerer Origins looks like an interesting sequel. Speaking of point & click adventures, it looks like GOG and Steam are getting this "Shadow and Steel" collection of old Revolution glories (which is pretty much nonsense on PC, since you can already get each game for free). Anyway, if they ever decide to release it on Switch, I'd definitely pick it up.

Re: The Force Isn't Strong With Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2, Initial Impressions Suggest

SirLink

I guess I'll be able to tell my impressions of this game when I try a demo, since I've never played it before. But if these impressions are confirmed, then it'll be another new Switch 2 game crossed off my wish list. I mean, come on, you can't do something like this just a couple of months after the release of a new console.
Maybe Nintendo should either be more selective about developers when deciding who to entrust with the development kit, or just give it to anyone requesting it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th August)

SirLink

I restarted Kirby and the Forgotten Land on the Switch 2 edition from scratch with the Star-Crossed World in Wild Mode, intending to play and complete both the "old" and DLC portions of each level 100%, including completing all the time trials before moving on to the next level.
I'm enjoying the performance and graphics boost.

Re: Poll: When The Heck Is Metroid Prime 4 Actually Launching?

SirLink

Releasing it on December would probably be their smartest move. Anyway, I'm fine with any date as long as they tell us when soon, hopefully in September.

Meanwhile, I'm also wondering what Nintendo is going to do for Mario's 40th anniversary, which will be next September 13. I can't believe they haven't planned any Mario release.

Re: Bloober Team Wants To "Open A New Chapter" For Horror Games On Nintendo Consoles

SirLink

I like Layers of Fear, it doesn't make you cry out for a miracle but it was well made, while Layers of Fear 2 sucks hugely. The Observer was ok but pretty short, which might not be a con according to some. Cronos looks great but I'm not interested in shooters. Inventing a good horror novel/game from scratch is very hard, and it definitely is not just a demonstration of manufacturing ability. We'll see what they have in mind.

Re: Switch 2 Sales In The US Are Outpacing The Original Console By 75%

SirLink

@KryptoniteKrunch well I find ANY consideration about this quite amusing. These aren't statistics, there aren't any sampling criteria about the buyers. Personally, I see more and more people spending less on Nintendo games and feeling disappointed because of the prices, whereas a niche is speding more, and I'm saying this as a happy owner of a Switch 2. But this is just a sensation of mine so it still counts zero. Still, there's one thing I'm sure of: nobody will ever do some serious statistics about this topic.

Re: Review: Kirby And The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World - Kirby's Best Shines Even Brighter

SirLink

DLC preordered yesterday, playing this game again from scratch is going to be a pleasure for me, especially after completing DK Bananza at 100%, after BotW with the expansion pack, after MKW, after double dipping Ocarina on 3DS and Skyward Sword remastered, after DK Tropical Freeze, after Mario & Luigi Brothership and Super Mario RPG remake, and after Echoes of Wisdom, all beaten. With MP4 on the horizon and planning to double dip in TotK with the new expansion, it looks like I dedicated this year only to games published by Nintendo, and I'm definitely not complaining.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo's First-Party Switch 2 Games Continue To Dominate

SirLink

@Nintendo4Sonic oh 5h are nothing in this game, you definitely have to play it much longer to enjoy it. This is why I believe that it was released too early, sometimes it feels unfinished. I would have definitely shortened that initial phase of "blind smashing" and slipped in a couple of chapters more.
Anyway, I don't mean to spoil anything but the (true) ending is really great and... long. They probably wanted to make sure we'd remember about it for a long time lol

@poyo_pie oh I wasn't referring to skills. I think that all that smashing might get annoying for a more grown up public. But you know, that's Sakurai's mark lol
On the other side, the Metroid series is known to include some thrilling elements that might not be suitable for very young kids.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo's First-Party Switch 2 Games Continue To Dominate

SirLink

@Nintendo4Sonic it isn't exactly a disappointment for me, but it's still slightly overrated IMO. On a technical point of view it's a 10 out of 10, but the gameplay for the first half of the game is underwhelming. Later on it improves anyway, enough to reach a 7, so it's a 8.5 overall. Anyway, we should also consider that it was probably aimed at the youngest players, whereas MP4 is definitely for a more mature public, which is why I wouldn't bet that it will be forgotten that easily.

Re: Mario Kart World Wins "Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game" Of Gamescom 2025

SirLink

@raymond23

How does this game stay at the top of the sales chart except for MK’s track record of amazing games, and bundling it with the console (like when Apple gave everyone an unwanted U2 album then claimed it to be the top selling album of all time). MKW is straight up trash.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but literally nobody forces you to get the more expensive bundle. Nobody will ever find MKW installed on their Switch 2 against their will, even those who receive the bundle as a gift, since they can resell the code.
Ah, if only people read such pearls of wisdom in NL's comment section, sale charts would surely be turned upside down!
