Re: Switch 2 Sales In The US Are Outpacing The Original Console By 75%

SirLink

@KryptoniteKrunch well I find ANY consideration about this quite amusing. These aren't statistics, there aren't any sampling criteria about the buyers. Personally, I see more and more people spending less on Nintendo games and feeling disappointed because of the prices, whereas a niche is speding more, and I'm saying this as a happy owner of a Switch 2. But this is just a sensation of mine so it still counts zero. Still, there's one thing I'm sure of: nobody will ever do some serious statistics about this topic.

Re: Review: Kirby And The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World - Kirby's Best Shines Even Brighter

SirLink

DLC preordered yesterday, playing this game again from scratch is going to be a pleasure for me, especially after completing DK Bananza at 100%, after BotW with the expansion pack, after MKW, after double dipping Ocarina on 3DS and Skyward Sword remastered, after DK Tropical Freeze, after Mario & Luigi Brothership and Super Mario RPG remake, and after Echoes of Wisdom, all beaten. With MP4 on the horizon and planning to double dip in TotK with the new expansion, it looks like I dedicated this year only to games published by Nintendo, and I'm definitely not complaining.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo's First-Party Switch 2 Games Continue To Dominate

SirLink

@Nintendo4Sonic oh 5h are nothing in this game, you definitely have to play it much longer to enjoy it. This is why I believe that it was released too early, sometimes it feels unfinished. I would have definitely shortened that initial phase of "blind smashing" and slipped in a couple of chapters more.
Anyway, I don't mean to spoil anything but the (true) ending is really great and... long. They probably wanted to make sure we'd remember about it for a long time lol

@poyo_pie oh I wasn't referring to skills. I think that all that smashing might get annoying for a more grown up public. But you know, that's Sakurai's mark lol
On the other side, the Metroid series is known to include some thrilling elements that might not be suitable for very young kids.

Re: UK Charts: Nintendo's First-Party Switch 2 Games Continue To Dominate

SirLink

@Nintendo4Sonic it isn't exactly a disappointment for me, but it's still slightly overrated IMO. On a technical point of view it's a 10 out of 10, but the gameplay for the first half of the game is underwhelming. Later on it improves anyway, enough to reach a 7, so it's a 8.5 overall. Anyway, we should also consider that it was probably aimed at the youngest players, whereas MP4 is definitely for a more mature public, which is why I wouldn't bet that it will be forgotten that easily.

Re: Mario Kart World Wins "Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game" Of Gamescom 2025

SirLink

@raymond23

How does this game stay at the top of the sales chart except for MK’s track record of amazing games, and bundling it with the console (like when Apple gave everyone an unwanted U2 album then claimed it to be the top selling album of all time). MKW is straight up trash.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but literally nobody forces you to get the more expensive bundle. Nobody will ever find MKW installed on their Switch 2 against their will, even those who receive the bundle as a gift, since they can resell the code.
Ah, if only people read such pearls of wisdom in NL's comment section, sale charts would surely be turned upside down!

Re: Mario Kart World Wins "Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game" Of Gamescom 2025

IMO Donkey King Bananza paid for the undeniable flaws present for a good initial part of its gameplay, but it still got the "best gameplay" award probably because of its originality. On a technical point of view, the game is amazing, the graphics, the physics, all the details deserve praises, you can feel the touch of Nintendo EPD everywhere. But for a good initial part of the game, they seem to have forgotten that a game is mainly supposed to make you have fun, not just make you awe. And for that part, the gameplay feels like a huge, repetitively boring and senseless smashing (which also might give you some motion sickness, as in my case).
Sakurai really needs to place a limit to this fixation for smashing actions.
Anyway, after that phase, the "Bananza" begins to make sense by introducing various animals, and that's where the actual fun begins, because you have to use new, different and changing features. This is why I would have shortened that initial phase drastically, and replaced it with the Bananza of a new animal, and that's also why I believe that game was released too early. In any case, my vote to the game is 85, any vote reaching at least 90 is purely biased IMO, especially if we are talking about the gameplay.

On the other side, MKW is criticised mainly by people who are already fed up with the Mario Kart series, or are still in love with MK8 and keep comparing them with each other, or have taken MKW as the object of their disappointment for Switch 2.
Actually, the latter two reasons don't clash with each other.
But if you can get past of all this, you can discover a really outstanding game that gives you hours and hours of fun. No wonder it won the best Switch 2 game award.
In any case, I agree with those saying that the MK series doesn't need new games for a long while. Now it's time to improve the game with DLCs.

Re: Video: Uh Oh, Elden Ring On Switch 2 Has Issues In Handheld Mode

SirLink

@AmplifyMJ I'm sure that getting used to games that are more and more performant and detailed at the same time is like an addiction, as you always end up wanting more of it, but this is not a good reason for feeling happy to get laggy games after spending 50, 60, 70 or 80 bananas on them.
The best answer to this is probably to feel happy with what one already has, without constantly feeding a market that purposely pushes beyond the current technological boundaries, and that, after all, rarely introduces improvements over the gameplay of existing titles. After all, it isn't a problem of ours if they don't sell enough.

Re: Video: Uh Oh, Elden Ring On Switch 2 Has Issues In Handheld Mode

SirLink

I'm excited to hear about more titles getting ported to Switch 2, but it's also impossible not to notice that while the performance of this title's port seems to suck, CDPR also had to remove as many details as possible from CP2077 to make it run in a barely acceptable fashion (which is why I laughed my a$$ off when I heard it was full price), and a first party game like Bananza is having frame drops which IMO contribute to the motion sickness many customers like me are suffering from, all of this happening on a 500 bucks priced console.

I think we should get way more selective when we choose videogames, instead of thinking about things like "supporting the gaming market" or "supporting this or that publisher" as if it were a problem of ours, because what they're really doing is pushing for a next generation console, when a brand new one just came out.

Re: Rumour: Another Bethesda Game Is Landing On Switch 2, It's Claimed

SirLink

@Jeronan oh, I already quitted listening to hype about new games after this and also after paying Lego Star Wars 60€ and seeing it for sale at 15 a year later.
Anyway, I'm not sure if it's all just about getting clicks, I heard about journalists of "some" websites I can't name aiming at personal extra "benefits" (no, not THAT kind of benefits lol) for showing some shameless public bootlicking in favour of some publishers. I'm not saying that such publishers seek for that kind of "journalists" (there would be no need for that anyway), I'm just saying that the latter try to curry favor with them, which sucks hugely and ends up damaging the public image of the magazine they work for.

@Peach64 I don't feel like criticising the way a magazine uses to make money, I just think that every way can have a more or less morally acceptable measure in doing so. Furthermore, I doubt the magazine even had anything to do with any of this, in this case.

@Questionable_Duck oh man, I hate the word "haters".

Re: Rumour: Another Bethesda Game Is Landing On Switch 2, It's Claimed

SirLink

Starfield is probably the most overrated game of the last decade. What really sucked wasn't only the game itself tho, but also the media hype that preceded it. I remember some gaming websites publishing a new article about Starfield every-single-freaking-hour before its release. What skill can't do, money can.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza: Walkthrough

SirLink

What I think we really need is a Piggyback-like strategy guide for Bananza that leads you through the game without spoiling anything, not just a plain walkthrough. On the other hand, Piggyback guides are not exactly known for being pocket friendly lol

Re: Feature: 32 Games We're Dying To See On Switch 2

SirLink

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle above all.
Then the Forza series, Alan Wake 2, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Final Fantasy XIV, System Shock remake and finally a proper port of the Resident Evil games that were released as cloud editions such as Biohazard, Village and Requiem, but also the remakes of 2 & 3.
Nope, no cloud versions will ever run on my Switch 2, I didn't buy it just for the sake of owning an expensive client.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th August)

SirLink

I'm going to restart Bananza after putting it on hold to restart BotW from scratch and beat it. I hope this time I'll be able to overcome my motion sickness and enjoy it throughly.

Speaking of BotW, I found the Zelda Notes very useful for getting at least 400 Koroku seeds and 100% on all the rest. In other words, it was useful but only at the end of the game (jeez time flies... I already passed 220 hours on it since I restarted it!)

Re: Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered Has Been Updated, Here Are The Patch Notes

SirLink

I LOVE the quality of these remasters and the fact that they finally managed to include the localized voiceovers. They're putting a lot of care in them.
I'll be looking forward for the release of a remastered third trilogy with Legend, Anniversary and Underworld (a second one to tell the truth, as a first one was already released for Xbox 360 in 2011).

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Third-Party TV Docks

SirLink

Nah, I'm not gonna risk it. Besides, I'm still keeping my totk oled on another tv too, and that can still run most of the available games. The sooner Nintendo guarantees 100% titles compatibility with the Switch 2, the sooner I'll let my oled go and get another dock instead.

Re: Captain Toad Returns In This Week's Nintendo Music Update

SirLink

I think we need a smart TV version of the app, I'd love seeing it available also on other eshops than Play.

Speaking of Treasure Tracker, it's a great game, I already had it on my 3DS but wanted to get it again for my Switch 2 after I saw it on sale on the eshop. It's fun and challenging, no reason not to love it!

Re: After Some Early Issues, Genki Has Finally Upgraded Select Switch 2 Accessories

SirLink

Crazy prices, good items but nothing special, unclear practices regarding shipping, which is firstly promised to be free but only if you spend a slightly higher amount than the price of the most expensive items (how unfortunate!), then denied because the small item you added to your cart to get the free shipment can't be shipped to your country, and finally denied again for no apparent reason after you added another, more expensive item. I don't trust them, I'd rather buy some other Chinese items from Amazon.
