He was undoubtedly the true genius who gave Nintendo everything we love about it. He certainly had incredible talent in terms of technical skill, imagination, and management. The company still takes advantage of his contributions and would probably need even more of it.
I'm not sure he was exactly "consumer friendly" as some people dare saying, but I just think he rightfully defended the value (and the price) of his creations. Still, I strongly doubt he would have agreed with some stupid decisions Nintendo has taken lately and that are trampling on consumer rights. And I doubt he would have liked the NSO idea, at least not while denying to the customers the chance of buying VCs.
@FishyS with the only difference that to get banned from Steam you must really screw up big time, for example by being a d**k while playing online or buying or selling whole accounts. Still they have no way to brick your steam deck, while Nintendo bricks the physical console you legally bought.
Glad I didn't buy it on D1, and that they are "hoping to fix the performance issues over the summer", meanwhile this purchase is on hold for me until they manage to do it. I mean, I can understand that as of 2025 a game can be laggy on a Switch, but not on a Switch 2, there are no excuses for this.
@foursider nice choice, I heard it's able to wake the Switch 2 up. Please let us know how it goes with it!
@Brumblescope oh man, I understand everybody has their own opinions, but saying that a Switch 2 Pro controller is just as comfortable as a Switch Pro one is a lie. It's slippery and tough, and I left it right where I found it, i.e. the shop.
@dew12333 weird, I personally don't trust a company that's after my money like a vulture, just as I don't trust random people online. After all, behaving in a way that penalizes me isn't a good way to earn my trust.
Such a pile of rubbish would be fine for me if it were 20€, but since it's 86€, I'd expect it to last at least 10 years and to be easily repairable. I think I'm gonna wait for the next chinese controller that can wake the system up. Moreover I even held one in my hands and found it uncomfortable.
@dew12333 you're supposed to listen and understand what he says before judging, first of all.
These coupons never made much sense to me, unless you wanted to buy digital on D1 and save that €10. Otherwise, waiting for the sales has generally been more rewarding, but waiting for Amazon's discounts on physical editions has even more so.
I'm sick of hearing of haters of either consoles, they are different from each other and each is great in its own way. Besides, this console battle won't convince me to pay for the insane price of this game just to play it on either of them anyway. It runs fine and in full detail on my laptop, thanks.
Maybe we can talk about it if they cut the price.
I'm sure this company already has enough to send to charity, since they evaluate 8€ a used dock and 9€ a use Switch Pro controller, to resell them at 40€ and 55€ respectively.
It's very fast both on wifi and ethernet for me, surely way faster than my Switch OLED. I'm sure the write speed of the microsd express card helps a lot too.
Now you see what I mean when I say that there's just one system seller and that's DK Bananza. Maybe Wild Hearts S could be an exception, but that's unlikely as it's prequel was pretty average. Besides, I doubt Koei Tecmo will keep it as a Switch 2 exclusive.
The console is amazing, the screen is much better than most OLED whiners imagine, it is comfortable to use and the system is so powerful that it overcomes all the weaknesses of the old Switch.
The battery sucks hugely, but that was already pretty obvious well before the launch for anyone who already owns a gaming laptop (same for the overheating issue tbh); the problem is that you can't launch a console like this with a 5Ah battery. I mean, they did a miracle by making it last 2 hours, but it's still too small.
Also, the accessories are too expensive, especially the dock and the Pro 2 controller. Regarding the latter, I personally didn't like that they made the previous controller unable to wake the console just to push users to upgrade.
Anyway, aside from the hardware details that may or may not impact the gaming experience, the real problem is that the console needs system sellers. I love MK World, it's a really great game, but it's not a system seller, and some childishly say it sucks without even trying it because they don't want to spend all that money to upgrade their console and because they already have MK8.
Despite all my love for CDPR, CP2077 is NOT a system seller either. It's a great game, but it's already pretty old and most players have already played it elsewhere. Not to mention that using the Switch 2 is not even the best way to play it (I mean, c'mon, let's face it).
The BotW and TotK upgrade packs are amazing, but are they really enough to convince people to upgrade their console? No, they are not, especially when those people have no way to figure out how such packs would improve their gaming experience.
In general, a game that can already run on Switch or an old game can't possibly be a system seller for Switch 2. And yes, sadly that also includes MP4, even though I can't wait for its release.
So you already know where I'm going with this: there are high expectations for Bananza. This should be the title that really makes the difference, and Nintendo would do well not to make mistakes with its release. So I invite you to repeat this survey in a month. Meanwhile, let's hope for more exciting directs.
Game keys cards do not have any impact on Switch 2 sales, simply because there already were "physical" cards that required you to download game data, so those were not so different.
@Yydeckard wow you're right, I had never noticed that before! I've just checked the dock out and I've seen that there's no chance the inner fan can send air through the console.
That really sucks, I hope someone makes an alternative case that blows cold air through the console and has a rubber ring that stops air leaks all around. You know, kind of like how cooling pads like Klim Mistral do with laptops.
@Thomystic it's a shame they didn't, that would have increased the sales IMO.
@TheSaneInsanity so does mine when I enable the download in sleep mode setting, and there's nothing to download. I mean, there's something not right not only with the sleep mode, but also with the airflow design.
Apart from the bricking risks you take with 3rd party docks and from how anti-consumer and anti-competitive it is to implement a chip like this, I'd like to underline that SIWIQU's dock (which I wouldn't buy as it seems to lack inner fans) is 36 bucks while the official one is 110. Comments open.
Ok, now that this nonsense is still a thing anyway, I also want to be able to convert digital purchases into game key cards and viceversa. You still need to have an internet connection to run them, don't you? So, what's the problem with using blank key cards? There are several digital games that suck so much that I'd like to resell them for 1 cent.
@dskatter I doubt it is. Nintendo makes these makers sign agreements with them and still keep them behind, so that their products can't have cheaper competitors. That's why they are annoyed at 3rd party makers that refuse to have agreements with them.
@Yosher I used to get all the icons for the games I play, but I had to skip a lot of cool ones lately. I usually tend to ignore the icons for the games I don't play. I agree, getting a discount for a whole set would definitely be a great deal.
@Pillowpants I already do that, unfortunately I still had to skip a lot of cool ones I liked lately.
@ChessboardMan great advise, thanks! I didn't know those coins were the same as the platinum ones, I'm gonna play the mobile titles more often from now on!
Really nice, but I think we need Nintendo to give us way more ways of getting platinum coins, because I lost the count of all the icons I had to skip lately.
Thank you for the great review, it makes me wanna try this game and I definitely will! I see no demos in the eshop, so I'm going to get the demo on steam, but if I like I'll get it for Switch.
@TromboneGamer the OLED screen is spectacular, but it still feels like a downgrade. Have you ever played BotW on a Switch OLED and then on a Switch 2 and then back again?
@Koda1000
I'm not sure if you're looking for excuses not to upgrade, but in that case, I want to assure you that nobody's forcing you into doing it. Gaming is supposed to be just fun, period.

Actually, the higher the refresh rate, the more likely you'll see smearing and ghosting.
2. The Switch OLED is capable of 343 nits, so the luminosity of the Switch 2 screen with its 420 nits is definitely a big improvement over that. In fact, one of the reasons why I'm rarely using my OLED is because it feels like a huge downgrade now.
3. The whole Dbrand thing only shows that you shouldn't f**k with stuff that's designed with extreme precision, especially when you don't get how it works. If you change the distance between the joycon and the tablet or increase the length of the lever with which you might impress force on the joycon, you'll inevitably screw its ability to attach and stay sturdy. And I can assure you that the whole thing is as sturdy as a rock. For a reference, I'd invite you to check the Welcome Tour out, but I guess you can't as you don't have a Switch 2.
Finally, if you're waiting for an OLED version, you might have to wait forever.

@Ikswoltok you don't know what my emotions are. I'm on a Nintendo fansite, I buy most of their stuff, I think most of their stuff is awesome, but that doesn't stop me from knowing when they're wrong, because I do not let my emotions get the best of me, so that's the exact opposite of what you're saying.
I also don't like it when people, including companies, want me to side with them by finding imaginary enemies where there aren't to try to convince me that what they're doing isn't abuse.
You know, people are innocent until proven guilty, and if you believe your customers are potential thieves, then either change your mindset or change your business.

Yeah, he really does. And we noticed it.

As long as we won't have to wait for a Switch 3 for it to decently run a game specifically planned and designed for Switch 2, I'm fine.
