Hollow Knight Silksong. The trial and error-based progression makes it very hard but it's really what I'm enjoying the most about it together with its art style: it forces you to think, there's no way you can beat a boss until you understand how he fights, and it also reminds me of older titles with the same features.
It is not a "bad" game, but it's still pretty much always the same, regardless the fps. I guess I'll never understand why some people keep buying it every year.
All amazing games, but the fun I had with Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario Land 2 and Super Mario 3D Land is still unsurpassed, and I played them all.
Odyssey is the most beautiful.
It looks like making most of two of the best works of Iwata's era is the best Nintendo can do today. I started to doubt that Nintendo would still be capable of creating something similar nowadays. But judging by some comments, they've undoubtedly become way better at squeezing money from fans.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant exactly. They make very few of them because the main buyers are a niche of die-hard fans. If they made more of them and put them on the shelves, they'd stay there forever and their price would eventually plummet, as shops would want to get rid of them at the end.
@Lofoten the fact that a product is too expensive is not a secondary detail when you buy something. When you see a product, you assign it a value and decide whether its price exceeds it (and this has nothing to do with whether you can afford it or not). If it does, then it's perfectly fine to judge it negatively.
The fact is that in this case people are rightfully feeling ripped off.
I definitely do NOT want to buy a piece of plastic for 80 bucks to be able to play games (coming with a paid subscription!!!) even a pirate would refuse to share and that were made for the cr*ppiest console Nintendo has ever created.
These newest DLCs are all pretty disappointing in terms of new contents.
This DLC for DK Bananza doesn't add anything valuable to the game, just like the Star-Cross World doesn't add any "great" contents to Kirby and the Forgotten Land (although I had WAY more fun with Kirby's game than with DK Bananza), just like the DLCs for BotW and TotK don't add any valuable contents to the respective games (which are the top of fun IMO).
Despite this, all of them but this DLC have been sold with the promise of enhancing the gaming experience on the Switch 2, which can't possibly apply to this DK Island & Emerald Rush as the original game was already for Switch 2 only. This makes it even more a ripoff than the others.
Now, dear people who believe that anything Nintendo makes is great and worth good money by default, I can't and don't want to tell you how to spend your money, but I just want to remind you that whenever you criticize someone who is disgusted by the latest pretty obvious ripoff strategies, you, deep down, know what the truth really is.
Well, make us pay 200 bucks for it then, even 500 maybe, but 490 on sale. From many comments, I'd get that many people don't get the difference between not being able to afford something and not willing to be ripped off.
I wonder why this people even gets interviewed at all. I want to see interesting products, not excuses. If a product is feasible then make it and maybe I'll buy it, otherwise don't.
I was going to preorder it despite the fact that I already have Galaxy on SM All Stars 3D, but I changed my mind when I read about the price. As we say here, Nintendo really peed outside the toilet this time.
These are some expensive pieces of plastic, I have to say, but I'm sure that if I save the money that Nintendo expects me to spend for a year, I could buy a really good 3D printer with which I could make all the pieces of plastic I like for decades.
Full digital for me. I already find it annoying that Switch and Switch 2 have just one slot, and I hate having to swap cards over and over, let alone if I have to insert a card and keep the slot busy to play a game that's completely in the internal storage.
I wasn't expecting much, apart from the release of MP4 planned for December, as I had predicted. Nonetheless, I was surprised to see this game including open areas, it's going to be very interesting to see how they did it.
Yoshi's return is also very welcome (but why is it in this poll?), and I'm hyped to see FFVII remake getting finally ready.
Now the negative part.
While I'm very excited to see SM Galaxy 2 finally ported to Switch (as it should have already been for the SM3D All Stars collection), bundling it with SM Galaxy for the physical edition is just a lazy move to milk more money off the fans, especially because the latter had already been released on the very same console. Not to mention the crazy price.
Also, I had the feeling that DK Bananza was released too early, and now I'm confirmed, since they can't have possibly developed a DLC (shipping today!) in less than 2 months. They had it ready when they released the main game, and now asking 20 bucks more for it is just disgusting.
Finally, no DLC planned for MKW, but we still get a totally new racing game. Nonsense.
I'm not overly happy with the way they are handling DK Bananza, which I felt like it was released way too early, as I have already written several times.
Now, there's no way they developed a DLC in less than 2 months, I'm sure they had it ready when they released the main game. And now game + DLC come at the modest price of 90 bucks.
Hopefully, at least this DLC has less random and senseless smashing and more adventure fun.
Well, this mix of 3D metroidvania and open areas made me curious and want to try it before criticising.
As expected, it's going to be released a few days before Christmas, smart move by Nintendo.
@Gatorclops it's nice to see there's always someone ready to tell you that you don't realize something whenever you criticize prices that are out of this world, as if criticizing were illegal. How do you keep yourselves in exercise?
@UltimateOtaku91 I'd be happy in either case. Anyway, even if a Galaxy 3 game was announced now, I doubt it would be released before late 2026/early 2027.
To be honest, since my backlog is becoming ginormous, I'm not "hoping" to see anything new, apart from a release date for MP4, but a new Mario game or some updates or DLCs to existing Mario games or a new port/remaster (not a new NSO entry please) would still be very very nice.
@Aloha after several years of experience, I've come to the conclusion that the money spent on hobbies will simply never be recovered, there's no point in deluding yourself. If you can even slightly mitigate your losses, consider yourself lucky, but the effort required to do so is often not worth it. I've fallen for it many times, but every time it's the same.
This is why I consider buying a game-key card with the hope of reselling it simply madness. My advice is to buy a game if you like it, without any other reason.
Anyway, I can understand if you want to gift it to some friend after you've done with it, but if I want to make a gift, I'd rather buy it new.
It's not too difficult, but it's still very difficult, and I think I should have played the previous game first.
I think I got way too used to the very low difficulty levels usually set by Nintendo.
Anyway, it's a great game, its fame is well deserved.
Too much of the usual stuff. Sometimes it seems to me that we are getting some "Netflix effect" in gaming: we get way too much of what we'd like to see, until we feel fed up with it. Unfortunately, the further we go, the sooner this seems to happen.
@chiptoon good question, but I guess it wouldn't be a biggie on Switch 2: on Steam I obtained a refund for some Ubisoft titles because I refused to install their bloatware, but there's no such thing on console.
@GgGames I fail to see what piracy has to do with the fact that you have to pay an arm and a leg for a used copy of some older games. Greed sounds like a more reasonable cause to me. Besides, most old games wouldn't even be known to the newest generations of gamers if it wasn't for piracy, and "some publishers" wouldn't have had the chance to earn from them again 20-30 years later by selling toy consoles and subscriptions to "online services" (coughs). I mean, let's not deny that the interest for old games has often been kept alive by rom sites for quite a long while.
Outstanding performance of the Switch 2, although this is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. Hopefully, Steam will show us more about its new Steam Frame. Anyway, Ubisoft did a great optimisation work here.
Btw yesterday Factor of Games did a similar comparison using Cronos and, loading time apart, unfortunately it looked damn better on the Steam Deck because of the OLED screen, since it's a game that has many dark scenes. I suppose that game is best played on TV.
I'll never understand the amount of sympathy some people show for this kind of stuff. I mean, they won the lawsuit, good for them, they didn't risk to go bankrupt and become homeless anyway, but well done on not getting any more "significant and irreparable harm" (lol). 1st world problems, I guess. So what's the reason for all this cheerleading anyway? Go figure.
LOL now CP2077 got above the Zeldas. Great game, but c'mon...
@Mommar contrary to what I had planned, I started playing Silksong, and what I can say so far is that this game is just unforgiving. So, it's pretty much the exact opposite of what most of Nintendo gamers are used to, but this doesn't mean that it can't be a great game. The amount and the care for graphic and sound details is just amazing.
Set between the events of Empire and Return of the Jedi which, let's face it, is way, way cooler than anything that's happened in Star Wars since
I totally agree.
Anyway, as long as the framerate doesn't drop below 30fps, I'm fine with it. The only issue I have with this game is that I'm not going to spend 60€ for a game-key card, I'd rather buy it from the eshop, preferably on sale.
I'm still aiming to 100% complete Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star Crossed World and loving it, although last week I didn't have much time to play it.
Afterwards, I'm going to move onto Hollow Knight Silksong. I got it on D1 and I don't want to wait ages before I play it, as it's been a while since last time I played a 2D metroidvania.
This game seems to have quickly become a cultural phenomenon; apart from causing servers to go down, everyone's talking about the price (especially with envy), but no one's mentioning the lack of DRM. @The_Nintendo_Pedant yeah, back in those days it wasn't rare to get some real bargains even at the shop nearby your home.
