@gabrielthorn lol I've never played this game, but if it's like the previous one then I guess the performance is the least of the problems. Reading the review here was enough to convince me to stay away from it ("Not Bad 6/10", "Story is an excuse for fights and not much more", "Exploration, whilst fine, is simple in nature")
@DangoTown honestly, I’ve had a very similar experience with my Switch 2. It’s definitely a great piece of hardware, but whenever the gameplay isn’t negatively affected, I still find myself preferring my Switch OLED to play the games that run on both — mostly because of the longer battery life.
I’d probably use the Switch 2 a lot more if there were more compelling reasons to do so, but I’ve already finished all the 1st party exclusive titles and the upgrade packs available so far. And right now, Nintendo isn’t giving me many strong incentives to really make full use of it.
As for the quality of the games, they’re still good — no doubt about that — but they’re not exactly reaching the heights we’ve seen in the past.
Honestly, I’m starting to wonder whether Nintendo can still deliver those truly astonishing, genre-defining experiences like they used to. Maybe they can, but I’m not so sure anymore.
And yeah, they do seem more focused on defending themselves from imaginary enemies than on just making great games.
The truth is that they still are not sure what was leaked and consequently what really happened and how. However, for some reason I still read many optimistic comments. Well guys, I really hope you're right.
I'd rather not see this game compared to other successful titles, or worse, to old classics, because if the comparison doesn’t hold up (as it usually happens), I’ll be pretty disappointed.
I really hope LN3 is more fun than the previous game in the series. I guess for once I can ignore metacritic's low score and just get it, after all they even praised LN2 and I still didn't like it.
@mikegamer good question. I guess the only reason is that they have to compare it against Switch 2, just to show that the latter seems affordable — but even that’s misleading, since they’re ignoring the cost of every single game. In the end, it’s really like comparing apples to oranges.
I guess many people fail to understand that someone looking at a device like this isn't choosing between a Switch 2 and Rog Xbox Ally X, but between a Rog Xbox Ally X and a $2k-$3k gaming PC/laptop. The Steam Deck’s also starting to fall behind with the newest games, so it’s kinda out of the comparison at this point.
Well deserved, Switch 2 is an amazing machine, although I still often use my Switch OLED because of the battery lifecycle. It's basically a more powerful Switch, which is exactly what most people had been asking for.
@1UP-HUSKY it doesn't say it had to be an innovation.
@BaldB3lper78
Xbox Ally X will sell what - £1 million in its lifetime if it’s lucky.
Sure? The demand for affordable gaming PCs is pretty high. Right now I own a pretty ok'ish gaming laptop, but if I had to buy it again, I'd probably choose this new machine alongside a cheaper laptop for work. I'd end up spending the same, but I would have two dedicated machines.
@Coalescence I agree they aren't Robin Hood, in fact there doesn't seem to be any moral or ideologic reason for their actions, but they never ever bluffed before. If they claim they hit Nintendo, it's very likely they did for real.
If they made a cartridge with all the best games for the SNES, I'd be willing to pay good money for it even if the same games are already available on NSO. Yeah, you read it well. Seriously, it only takes a quick look at the top games of this ranking to see how the SNES really represented Nintendo's golden age.
I was already keeping an eye on this game since it looks very promising. If it doesn't take ages for an average player to beat it, I'll take it soon. Apart from the style which is evidently inspired by Hades, the gameplay itself must be pretty unique.
Somehow I saw it coming. I was playing the SM 3D Collection this morning and I found that Sunshine aged better than Galaxy, despite it didn't meet everyone's tastes. Shame they aren't selling that collection anymore to make place for an overpriced bundle.
This is my third very very busy w/e in a row, but at least I get to sleep at home this time lol. So probably no gaming for me, but if I get some spare time, I’ll try to play Silksong.
It looks pretty cool but... how about a version that you can hold in your palm and that isn't more than 20 bucks? I mean, you could almost keep this one on a carnival float, but does people really need anything like this?
@Oldwhig I doubt it's a choice by Nintendo, I don't see why they'd want to risk to have everyone from all over the EU to buy from France for lower prices.
I'm not surprised at all, it’s not the first time that sellers of goods and services in France show some sensitivity when it comes to pricing and purchasing power. Here in Italy, it happens occasionally too, but only at some local sellers and never officially, as it almost feels like something shady. Otherwise, the attitude here is basically: "Can't afford it? Bwahahahaha, poor loser, we know you're hiding your cash, so we’ll just raise the prices! Just don't say you didn't ask for it!". Dazn is another good example of this.
I've never been a fan of R-Type, but I never had the chance to play this game which looks pretty impressive. I think I'm gonna get the digital edition but once again, I don't get why publishers rely on LRG for physical releases. That's just a silly choice.
@YoshiAngemon I wouldn't do it. A while ago, I enjoyed the digital edition of Okami so much that I decided to buy the physical one from Playasia, as the latter had been released in Japan only. It was region-free and multilanguage just like the digital edition we got in Europe. Well, the game was fine, but all the saved games I had on the digital edition were not compatible against this one.
Bloober guys don't always seem to know what they do. I'm afraid this might be one of those cases, together with the second game of the series which was a total trainwreck (or better, a shipwreck), especially on Switch.
I mean, why revisit the first title which was already fine? Sure, it was just a "walking simulator", but very well made and pretty thrilling. Now they really risk to just make it laggy on Switch 2 for no reason. Why?
I obviously didn't vote since I didn't get them, but I heard many people are having issues with controls.
Also, while the original games were outstanding, I still don't get how some people can judge this a great remaster, since the only improvement seems to be about upscaling while the whole bundle comes for no less than 70 bucks, as if pricing were a secondary aspect.
Fortunately, the almost complete lack of criticism here isn't seen elsewhere.
@Anti-Matter can you tell when assistitive AI stops being such and becomes generative? Could you identify any precise criteria that can be applied to laws?
The series' trial-and-error gameplay is present, along with its oppressive atmospheres and macabre set pieces, but it all felt more brisk, gentler, and less pulse-pounding than its celebrated predecessors.
To be honest, this aspect was fun in the first game, but it became quite annoying in the second one somehow. I hope it got back to being fun again now, as it's the main reason why I dropped the previous game, and I rarely do it.
I used to buy way more than a dozen a year, but since the Switch 2 launched, I think I've only picked up 3 so far — including MKW that came bundled with it. The other two are Silksong and DK Bananza. Oh, I also got the Star-Crossed World DLC for Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Prices went up (excluding Silksong, of course), purchases went down. Next one will be MP4, then some more 3rd party ones next year. Period.
Great for PS5 owners as they get an amazing game, while we get yet another remaster/port/whatever for a crazy price, and we show ourselves happy about it too. Duh.
It looks like they are trying hard to make something that sports some unique features since their controllers can't really have all the features of a Nintendo one, probably because of the agreement between these companies.
This is turning pretty pathetic now tho.
This game made by the creators of Shovel Knight might become a masterpiece. Although it's "Zelda-inspired", it still seems pretty unique. I can't wait to play it, but I also trust the developers, so I'm sure it got delayed for good.
Trover Saves the World is now officially supported. However, it's disappointing to see how slowly they are working on fixing incompatibilities, to the point that I wonder if they are even interested in doing so anymore. After all, they should have fixed them all by the time the Switch 2 launched. The lack of support for youtube is utterly annoying.
I didn't get it because I feel a dork spending 70€ bucks for a couple of 15 years old games, and if I did I definitely would be. Despite this, Nintendo thinks I am, but that's a problem of theirs.
I love MKW and I don't really get what people find so disappointing in it. Sonic Racing Crossworlds might be a good game too but my decades-long allergy to this IP stops me from trying it. Anyway, because of this, I can't and won't make a comparison. Kirby Air Racers is just a huge mistake by Nintendo.
Prime 2’s title screen might be the best in the whole series. It’d honestly make an awesome Metroid movie intro.
The Wii Trilogy and Prime 3 screens looked great too, just not as cool. Out of the 2D games, I’ve always liked the title screens in Fusion and Super Metroid, even if they weren’t all that fancy.
Anyway, I’m usually not super into video game movies, but I’d love a Metroid one with serious Alien vibes. It’d have to be creepy and intense, though — and yeah, I really doubt Nintendo would ever go that far with it. Is it obvious I’m a fan of both?
AI was predicted since the very beginning of computer science. Everyone will be flooded by it, willingly or unwillingly, and that doesn't mean that I like it.
If Nintendo needs to sue someone, they should try with those who use such services, instead of those providing it. Otherwise it would be pretty pathetic to see a company that nowadays mainly speculates on the glories of the past, trying to defend itself from companies that do what Nintendon't, rather than start doing again what it became famous for.
Apparently, talking about dirty money isn't a good thing when it comes to re-releases of 15-year-old games because they're "great value," but it's perfectly fine when you see the prices of mediocre games skyrocket to "standard price" for no reason, because "they have expenses".

@mikegamer useless and overpriced just because of Windows? As a very long time Linux user and advocate, that claim does not convince me at all.
