@KayFiOS I totally agree. Moreover, it’s not just illegal: if you're trying to "boycott" Nintendo by pirating their stuff, you're actually doing them a favour. It's still free promo, and the fact you're hooked on their games just keeps the buzz going.
Same with pay-TV, really. Some people use dodgy boxes to avoid paying, saying they want to stick it to the companies, but they're still glued to their shows.
I guess they need more consistency and fewer excuses.
MP4 is a D1 purchase for me, I can't wait to play it.
About Octopath Traveler 0, releasing it as a game-key card on Switch 2 is not a biggie for me, since I wasn't going to get it physical anyway, but I still fail to see any good reason why it's going to be released in that format.
I started Tormented Souls a couple of days ago and I can't stop playing it, I love the RE + Alone the Dark vibes it sends. Apart from that, I'm also double dipping in CP2077, since I took advantage of the recent sale to get it for Switch 2 too. Happy gaming everyone!
I ended up getting CP2077 for a double dip, the sale price definitely sold me. I'm not too bothered about not picking up the physical version, as I already have it DRM-free on GOG. I think my Piggyback guide works well enough as a 'physical goodie' to complete the experience.
Anyway, to get more into the Halloween spirit, I decided to pick up Tormented Souls as well, which curiously isn't on this list, and play it first. It really gives off a great mix of Alone in the Dark and the early Resident Evil games vibes.
@Glasso
it might be an unpopular opinion, but I fully agree with you on both.
Oh well, say goodbye to any chances of seeing a proper port. After all, why should they invest money in doing so when "fans" are happy whatever they do...
Not a big deal for me anyway, I'll just keep playing it on 3DS, which is the best version if you ask me.
I'd like to buy all the games in the 30 Generation Pack, but there's no point spending that much just to get the pack itself, as they're all game-key cards. I'd much rather buy the digital versions and take my time playing each game properly, one by one.
Honestly, I'd even choose a code-in-a-box over a game-key card any day: I've bought things before thinking I'd resell them later, but that never actually happens. So I'm not going to kid myself about it anymore.
It seems Smallthing Studios has handled this series' comeback brilliantly. This isn't just a prequel to Simon the Sorcerer, it’s also a lovely touch of late '80s/early '90s nostalgia. On top of that, this small Italian studio is handling several projects at once, which is no small feat.
Honestly, the art style isn't quite my cup of tea, as I have a soft spot for the original, but I'm confident that a good point and click game can make me overlook that.
That said, I'll be picking it up without a second thought!
Ybarra is totally right about what happened so far, but on the other side I also believe that lately the strength of Nintendo's exclusives has watered down significantly and, while they'll never give up on them, it's going take a lot of effort for them to keep the status of creators of groundbreaking games in the future. This could be why they wanted Switch 2 to be the perfect portable machine for any kind of games.
Sure, they can still make trendy titles, gadgets and movies that push them, but if you cut the trend out, there isn't much left. We've already seen it all over and over. Most of their successes of the last decade were based on exploiting the strength of their IPs, which is mostly the result of the work done during Iwata's era, but I still have to see a successful IP that came later. How long can they keep exploiting the old ones?
Anyway, I think Microsoft noticed this and is now trying to take advantage of this fact. Microsoft always wanted to grab everything in every market. They are like an octopus. They surely don't seem to totally understand the gaming sector, but they have money and power to wait for the best moment to hit for as long as they like. And, let's face it, if they haven't made an exclusive lately, it was their choice. So, I wouldn't take their failure for granted.
Clearly we're reading people that were never buyers or are obvious Nintendo haters.
"Are those Nintendo haters in the room with us now?"
Seriously, you guys should drop the passive-aggressive “hater” word from your vocabulary. I’m still laughing about being called “an old games hater” just because I criticized NSO.
It just tells us where they rank in September compared to other switch games.
Shhh don't tell them, people here love living in a parallel dimension and blaming others online outside NL for having a narrow view of the situation while theirs is even narrower. It's an enclosure inside another enclosure, but they still haven't realized it.
I finally bought it when I saw the price going down from 70 € to 55 on Amazon. It still annoys me that I had to get Galaxy twice (I had already got it with the Super Mario 3D Collection) to have Galaxy 2 physical, but at least Nintendo has come back to reality.

@Morsel it's a great game, shame it wasn't released on Switch for no other reason than to just push Switch 2. Double shame that we didn't get a proper port.
@h3s I've been working with their solutions for decades, their focus on security starts from the earliest development stages up to the infrastructures they provide to enterprises and even to governments. If they got hacked then I'm worried. Speaking of the potential fallout: https://www.theregister.com/2025/10/02/cybercrims_claim_raid_on_28000/
I love when stuff like this happens: one of the main manufacturers who’s never been officially licensed by Nintendo ends up making the most nostalgic Nintendo-themed gear. It really highlights how absurd it is to have officially licensed third-party products.
As for the price... when Nintendo shoots high, everyone else feels entitled to do the same. It was inevitable.
That said, for that kind of money, I expect the keyboard to also make espresso coffees better than many professional brewers.
For me, MP4 will be a test of Nintendo's pulse.
If it fails, I’ll have to accept that Iwata’s Nintendo is long gone, and start seeing the current one as yet another Disney, which is exactly what they wanted to become.
Too bad I don't like Disney, I'm more interested in gaming, so they'd better not fail this test.
@N00BiSH downplaying, you say? I don't know many games that can match BotW. It has literally sustained the Switch market since its release. Considering it started as a Wii U title first announced back in 2013, that’s an outstanding result. DK Bananza is a joke compared to it.
@Shiesty better security, you say? They managed to hack Red Hat, which is a company known for its obsessive focus on security. The truth is, no one is truly safe online.
@mikegamer well, saying that Windows is bloatware is a bit of a harsh judgment for a system with an architecture that's actually quite secure and well-designed for the machines it’s intended to run on. That said, yes — it does come with a lot of bloatware, often introducing unsafe parts, unfortunately. On the bright side, it's totally possible to remove most of it. About the Xbox brand, it makes sense as long as they're selling dedicated gaming hardware. Otherwise, yes, there are definitely cheaper ways to play games.
I didn't know of this book about the person who made Nintendo one of the leading names of gaming, I think I'm going to get it soon, even in the current edition.
@gabrielthorn lol I've never played this game, but if it's like the previous one then I guess the performance is the least of the problems. Reading the review here was enough to convince me to stay away from it ("Not Bad 6/10", "Story is an excuse for fights and not much more", "Exploration, whilst fine, is simple in nature")
@DangoTown honestly, I’ve had a very similar experience with my Switch 2. It’s definitely a great piece of hardware, but whenever the gameplay isn’t negatively affected, I still find myself preferring my Switch OLED to play the games that run on both — mostly because of the longer battery life.
I’d probably use the Switch 2 a lot more if there were more compelling reasons to do so, but I’ve already finished all the 1st party exclusive titles and the upgrade packs available so far. And right now, Nintendo isn’t giving me many strong incentives to really make full use of it.
As for the quality of the games, they’re still good — no doubt about that — but they’re not exactly reaching the heights we’ve seen in the past.
Honestly, I’m starting to wonder whether Nintendo can still deliver those truly astonishing, genre-defining experiences like they used to. Maybe they can, but I’m not so sure anymore.
And yeah, they do seem more focused on defending themselves from imaginary enemies than on just making great games.
The truth is that they still are not sure what was leaked and consequently what really happened and how. However, for some reason I still read many optimistic comments. Well guys, I really hope you're right.
I'd rather not see this game compared to other successful titles, or worse, to old classics, because if the comparison doesn’t hold up (as it usually happens), I’ll be pretty disappointed.
I really hope LN3 is more fun than the previous game in the series. I guess for once I can ignore metacritic's low score and just get it, after all they even praised LN2 and I still didn't like it.
@mikegamer good question. I guess the only reason is that they have to compare it against Switch 2, just to show that the latter seems affordable — but even that’s misleading, since they’re ignoring the cost of every single game. In the end, it’s really like comparing apples to oranges.
I guess many people fail to understand that someone looking at a device like this isn't choosing between a Switch 2 and Rog Xbox Ally X, but between a Rog Xbox Ally X and a $2k-$3k gaming PC/laptop. The Steam Deck’s also starting to fall behind with the newest games, so it’s kinda out of the comparison at this point.

@SpecialT your choice. If there were a slot dedicated to game-key cards, maybe even in a different format, it would be even better.
Re: Resident Evil Requiem Pre-Orders Live, Switch 2 Pro Controller And Amiibo Confirmed
@SpecialT because a game-key card would keep my card slot busy for no reason.
