Re: Switch 2 Named One Of The Best 'Entertainment & Gaming' Inventions Of 2025

SirLink

Well deserved, Switch 2 is an amazing machine, although I still often use my Switch OLED because of the battery lifecycle. It's basically a more powerful Switch, which is exactly what most people had been asking for.

@1UP-HUSKY it doesn't say it had to be an innovation.

@BaldB3lper78

Xbox Ally X will sell what - £1 million in its lifetime if it’s lucky.

Sure? The demand for affordable gaming PCs is pretty high. Right now I own a pretty ok'ish gaming laptop, but if I had to buy it again, I'd probably choose this new machine alongside a cheaper laptop for work. I'd end up spending the same, but I would have two dedicated machines.

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online SNES Game, Ranked

SirLink

If they made a cartridge with all the best games for the SNES, I'd be willing to pay good money for it even if the same games are already available on NSO. Yeah, you read it well. Seriously, it only takes a quick look at the top games of this ranking to see how the SNES really represented Nintendo's golden age.

Re: Switch 2 Bundles Get A Surprise Price Drop At Select French Retailers

SirLink

I'm not surprised at all, it’s not the first time that sellers of goods and services in France show some sensitivity when it comes to pricing and purchasing power. Here in Italy, it happens occasionally too, but only at some local sellers and never officially, as it almost feels like something shady. Otherwise, the attitude here is basically: "Can't afford it? Bwahahahaha, poor loser, we know you're hiding your cash, so we’ll just raise the prices! Just don't say you didn't ask for it!". Dazn is another good example of this.

Re: Final Fantasy VII / VIII Remastered Twin Pack And IX Switch Physical Releases Confirmed For North America

SirLink

@YoshiAngemon I wouldn't do it. A while ago, I enjoyed the digital edition of Okami so much that I decided to buy the physical one from Playasia, as the latter had been released in Japan only. It was region-free and multilanguage just like the digital edition we got in Europe. Well, the game was fine, but all the saved games I had on the digital edition were not compatible against this one.

Re: Bloober Team Is Revisiting 'Layers Of Fear' Again On The Switch 2

SirLink

Bloober guys don't always seem to know what they do. I'm afraid this might be one of those cases, together with the second game of the series which was a total trainwreck (or better, a shipwreck), especially on Switch.
I mean, why revisit the first title which was already fine? Sure, it was just a "walking simulator", but very well made and pretty thrilling. Now they really risk to just make it laggy on Switch 2 for no reason. Why?

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Super Mario Galaxy + Galaxy 2?

SirLink

I obviously didn't vote since I didn't get them, but I heard many people are having issues with controls.
Also, while the original games were outstanding, I still don't get how some people can judge this a great remaster, since the only improvement seems to be about upscaling while the whole bundle comes for no less than 70 bucks, as if pricing were a secondary aspect.
Fortunately, the almost complete lack of criticism here isn't seen elsewhere.

Re: Review: Little Nightmares III (Switch 2) - A Missed Opportunity For Couch Co-op That Plays It A Little Too Safe

SirLink

The series' trial-and-error gameplay is present, along with its oppressive atmospheres and macabre set pieces, but it all felt more brisk, gentler, and less pulse-pounding than its celebrated predecessors.

To be honest, this aspect was fun in the first game, but it became quite annoying in the second one somehow. I hope it got back to being fun again now, as it's the main reason why I dropped the previous game, and I rarely do it.

Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?

SirLink

I used to buy way more than a dozen a year, but since the Switch 2 launched, I think I've only picked up 3 so far — including MKW that came bundled with it. The other two are Silksong and DK Bananza. Oh, I also got the Star-Crossed World DLC for Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
Prices went up (excluding Silksong, of course), purchases went down.
Next one will be MP4, then some more 3rd party ones next year. Period.

Re: More Switch Games Get Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes

SirLink

Trover Saves the World is now officially supported.
However, it's disappointing to see how slowly they are working on fixing incompatibilities, to the point that I wonder if they are even interested in doing so anymore. After all, they should have fixed them all by the time the Switch 2 launched.
The lack of support for youtube is utterly annoying.

Re: Talking Point: Can Metroid Prime 4's Title Screen Go As Hard As The Others?

SirLink

Prime 2’s title screen might be the best in the whole series. It’d honestly make an awesome Metroid movie intro.

The Wii Trilogy and Prime 3 screens looked great too, just not as cool. Out of the 2D games, I’ve always liked the title screens in Fusion and Super Metroid, even if they weren’t all that fancy.

Anyway, I’m usually not super into video game movies, but I’d love a Metroid one with serious Alien vibes. It’d have to be creepy and intense, though — and yeah, I really doubt Nintendo would ever go that far with it. Is it obvious I’m a fan of both?

Re: "OpenAI Is Trying To Get Sued" - Nintendo IP Floods Sora 2 Video Generation App

SirLink

AI was predicted since the very beginning of computer science. Everyone will be flooded by it, willingly or unwillingly, and that doesn't mean that I like it.

If Nintendo needs to sue someone, they should try with those who use such services, instead of those providing it. Otherwise it would be pretty pathetic to see a company that nowadays mainly speculates on the glories of the past, trying to defend itself from companies that do what Nintendon't, rather than start doing again what it became famous for.

Re: The Best Nintendo Switch 2 Games

SirLink

@Mommar people like me who started with a NES got pretty old now and don't feel like playing an unforgiving game unless its amazingness makes you forget about it. Glad this is the case of Silksong.

Re: Opinion: The Mario Movie Was Okay At Best, But I Can't Wait For The Sequel

SirLink

It must be because I'm not of the right age anymore for this kind of stuff, but I didn't feel the need to watch the Mario movie and indeed I didn't watch it.
In the same way I don't feel the need to watch the next one and I probably won't. I might do an exception if I have a chance to watch it for free, but I'm surely not going to spend a cent on it.

In my opinion, these modern movies based on games just feel like advertisement that you have to pay for and that's being pushed down your throat. On the contrary, the original Super Mario movie of the 90's was so bad that it looked cool, probably because at least back then it was still considered "pop culture", while modern ones do not represent anything.

Sorry but at this point I'm just interested in videogames and great movies, and my experience tells me that you can't have both at the same time.

Re: Opinion: Why Focus On Silksong's Difficulty When We Need To Talk About How Cute It is?

SirLink

I don't know if it's cute or not, but I love the style. The way the edges are emphasized with a thicker line makes the characters stand out from the background and gives it a comics-like look. The scenes are never fully lit, which creates an atmosphere of mystery, but you can still tell where the action is going on screen thanks to the lights pointing precisely at the right points. Despite this, the transition from dark to light is decidedly smooth.

The fact that the game takes place in an environment populated by insects seems to tell players: "This world exists, it's real and everywhere, but you can't see it because you're not looking closely enough. But don't be fooled, because it's a harsh and merciless world. So you'd better become skilled enough to master it, or it will be your downfall."

Re: Mailbox: Switch Game Pricing, Shovelware, Self-Nerfing - Nintendo Life Letters

SirLink

Who has the time to play a really difficult game? The same people who spend the very same amount of time boringly searching for scattered items in an overly easy open-world game, when they don't randomly smash stuff around. Same time, different players, but Silksong's success seem to show that, when it comes to gaming, regular players outnumber casual players (those who spend 70 bucks on two 15-year-old games). And they're definitely the ones who spend more often, because they can.
Now, Nintendo seems to be willing to drop the first group in favor of the second, but I'm not so sure it's a good idea.
