Capcom 'Platinum Titles' Sales Update - Monster Hunter, Resident Evil And More

I'm curious how well Monster Hunter Wilds will last in the long run. According to some players and news sites, engagement with the latest game have dropped off significantly due to unresolved problems and lack of new content.

I really expected Ace attorney to be SOMEWHERE. That explains why they're not in a hurry! 😂

@Erigen If there's anything Monster Hunter fans are good at, it's whining about lack of content.

What I'm really hoping for is Switch 2 releases of all of these games.

I hope that capcom will not re-release resident evil remakes 2-4 and re7&8 again on switch 2 on download cartridge for full price for a game..they will just wait..again I hope that in this gen resident evil 9 will released on switch 2

Monster Hunter Wilds is deeply disappointing, in varios aspects.

The drop-off of Monster Hunter Wilds is crazy. It went from 10 million copies in its first month to being outsold by an 8-years-old game in its next three months.

I hate half the games on here lmao

Okay more like I hate three of those games and four of them have aspects I find disagreeable.

I wish Capcom would make another racing game. I have fond memories of playing Auto Modellista on my GameCube.

And this is why we're likely never getting a new Mega Man game. Why bother when SF, RE, and especially MH sell boatloads. I imagine that, if it wasn't for Nintendo, Capcom would have likely chosen someone other than Mega Man for Smash Bros like a Hunter or Chris Redfield. It's a shame how little they care for the Blue Bomber.

If they ever brought their most succesful ganes to the Switch 2 (no Key Card, please!), they would sell so much more!

At least, I want RE 2, 4 (remake), 7 and 8, Monster Hunter World and DMCV.

It is funny how few franchises capcom makes that I actually like and yet they have been one of my favorite devs/publishers for 35 years.

I’m not surprised; all those Resident Evil titles are excellent games (yes, even RE3 remake, I love blasting through it as a quick action game). Having recently played through RE2 remake and then going back and playing the original RE2 on N64 it’s clear just how much care and attention went into the remake to make it the way the original ‘felt’ in my mind back in the 90s/2000s. I’ve only played a bit of Biohazard (don’t like first person for Resi games) and recently finished Village in 3rd person mode, which was fun, though I’m not a fan of the whole ‘sentient mould’ theme. I want me zombies!

I really, really hope that the new Onimusha will sell well!

I just want to know what Ace Attorney Apollo Justice Trilogy and Ace Attorney Investigations Collection sold since the former launched in early 2024.
We haven’t had an update on those 2 since the first month sales of AA AJ T and the closest we got to one was the franchise as a whole selling over 1 million copies between late 2023 and late 2024.

Hmmm does it? I can’t find an overall bestselling list of Nintendo games, but I’m fairly certain they’ve had more +million sellers than Capcom.

I'm wondering if they're even slightly interested in doing some proper ports for Switch 2 of the Resident Evil games that they lazily released as "cloud editions". Now they have no excuses.

Certainly interesting data to look at that, but it's certainly no wonder why they decide to mostly ignore some franchises nowadays.

@Sambuc I watched a video on that recently, apparently the driving model was changed for the worse from the JP version for some reason.

Capcom has been on a great streak the last several years. I see it continuing with Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, etc...

While neat to see - Capcom indeed has some heavy hitting, well-received franchises - I'd also like updates on Mega Man and the Ace Attorney series. I'm quite a fan of the RPG takes of the former and have fallen head over heels for the latter. Hoping to start Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit once I wrap up my current gaming slate.

I WOULD be open to trying Dragon's Dogma II should I obtain a reliable means to play it.

I’m reading these numbers for wilds as a big issue. 8million on launch and a further 2million since is not great. Especially when it’s on all formats bar Nintendo

Honestly idk why people are saying Wilds is doing awful. The game already sold at least half of World's sales in one month and people expect it to just keep selling multiple millions for month after month, when I think that more so everyone that wanted Wilds super badly bought it on launch, and that everyone else that would want it are just waiting for sales and being slow with game purchases since World definitely got to where it is from said sales and just the current climate of the average game buyer requiring them to be more picky and slow with the games they get

How come Capcom can tell us Megaman Legacy Collection 2 finally reached a million units but Nintendo won't update us on any game other than their biggest ones outside of their first year?

@Pillowpants It’s not content as such, it’s how the game has evolved / devolved for me.
They invested too much time in massive open worlds voice acting and story.

Monster Hunter has and always will be about hunting monsters. At this point for long term fans like me, I could pass the story and massive open worlds and I just want to hunt extremely challenging monsters. They have made the game too easy on purpose, and monster roster is average or below. Now they’re releasing new charm systems etc making the hunter who’s already ridiculously over powered, more powerful.

So, less flashy giant worlds and story - instead, more monsters and challenge.

PC players would roast it for performance on top of my complaints.

@Coffee-Waffle fair enough. What most baffled me about the Monster Hunter fanbase is how much they act like an MMORPG fanbase. Never happy with the amount of content, or whining when something is nerfed, or changed. My advice is: If you don't like a game, don't play it. Life's too short to play games you don't like. But to each their own.

I understand where you’re coming from, but that could be your personality type. I tend to invest in things, and it’s very sad to see something with such incredible potential decline.
It’s not a horrendous game at all, far from it.
I play on average 1,000 hours per Monster Hunter game, this is the first where I’ve ever dropped off at around 100. I’ve done exactly what you said, I’ve moved into the FromSoft games.
I can’t help but feel a bit sad about that.

Capcom did a great job of rebuilding. I hope they are successful now at expanding the IPs they release.

@Coffee-Waffle The problem is that what you like is more niche and that strategy was bringing financial trouble to Capcom. I imagine Capcom wants to satisfy the hardcore fans as well and is trying to strike a balance.

But Capcom is far more successful now than it was before Resident Evil 2 Remake and World.

@roboshort Not exactly, as World was very challenging and it was their most successful game. Base game even had AT Elders.

I'm glad they still believe a million sold is a hit. Square and Ubisoft seem to find that standard quaint.
