Mine is a New 3DS XL that I modded to accommodate a USB-C port, so that I can recharge it via commonly available cables when I can't bring my original Nintendo charging cradle with myself.
@justin233 I appreciate your advice about being strong and doing something productive. But let’s be real — no one has to buy or play everything just because Nintendo releases it.
Twenty bucks per game isn’t a fortune, but it quickly adds up if you try to grab those and a whole bunch of other titles you probably won’t even have time to play. Or if you already pay for a subscription you don’t even need.
If you genuinely like something, buy it and enjoy it thoroughly.
Just don’t be greedy — fight your gaming “bulimia.”
Quality over quantity.
Nowadays, people buy hundreds of games they’ll probably never play. At this rate, they'd need a thousand years to clear their backlog. And yet, they keep adding more, subscribe to services like NSO, grab every sale, expand their libraries, knowing they'll seriously play only a handful of those titles.
At some point, it stops being passion and starts looking like accumulation for its own sake. If you really love a game, you buy it to experience it. You take your time with it. You don’t rush through it just to move on, and you don’t leave it untouched as part of a growing collection. And you definitely want to OWN it.
@KayFiOS nobody forces you to buy them, which is a good thing as it's your choice. Instead, removing VCs and finding it fine just because some people didn't like the pricing sucked for everyone.
@Skunkfish I still have a strong preference for those good old days, especially since many bugs became features over time, if not distinctive traits. Examples of those are endless, like the backward long jump in SM64, the wrong warping in Ocarina, the bunny hood glitch in Majora's Mask, the Cape Glitch in SMW, the bomb jump in ALttP, the dashing glitch in Samus Returns etc.
Sometimes imperfection is perfection.
Besides, here I'm talking about "glitches", while "bugs" that prevented you from running games properly were very rare. These game fixes look like the latter case. How is it that this kind of bugs have become so common?
Unfortunately, hardware manufacturers are basically robbing consumers, pushing them into cloud desktops and storage subscriptions using AI as an excuse. The shortage is being created on purpose, and when the AI hype bubble bursts, it’ll be obvious to everyone.
People don’t want AI everywhere, so someone is making sure they won’t have any other choice. The longer the AI hype bubble lasts, the longer they can squeeze money out of people.
We’ve seen this kind of thing over and over: with NAND keeping SSD prices from ever really dropping, with DRAM several times in the 2000s, and more recently with GPUs used for mining. But hey, it’s “the market,” so just be happy to be robbed.
Meanwhile, Nintendo can afford to sell its consoles at a loss for a while—but not forever. Investors are well aware of that, so they’re playing it safe for now.
Actually, racing at 120fps must be great fun. Oh... right, you get that with MKW too.
Shame for the 2000s graphics tho, but I'm gonna give it a try anyway.
Great and useful review, thank you. I was actually looking for a backup controller that would feel great on both the Switch 2 and PC and these ones look like the best choice. Shame they still aren't being sold on Amazon here, but I guess I can wait and save money in the meanwhile.
It's been a crazy time for me lately, so I haven't had any time to play and couldn't get distracted at all. My career strongly benefited from that as it got an advancement, but now it's time for me to get serious and resume my Metroid Prime 4 game lol Actually no, I think I'm going to restart it from scratch, as the whole intro gives me some strong Quake IV vibes. Happy gaming everyone!
I've just said goodbye to another Switch OLED, the TotK edition this time, and let my niece have it. She couldn't believe her eyes, it looks like she had been craving for that edition for quite a long time and I was glad to see her happy with it.
I find that the Switch 2 gives me more options, but the OLED is still a great console with an outstanding battery life, so I fully understand those who want to stick with it.
That said, despite the undeniable progresses, Nintendo really needs to hurry up making the remaining titles compatible against the Switch 2, unless they don't mind seeing people get the same games on Steam.
@cedarhyped @GoldenSunRM a seller can void the sale contract if there was a mistake which is clearly recognizable by both parties. If I set a Ferrari for sale for 400€ instead of 400000€, then there is obviously a mistake which can be easily acknowledged by the buyer (article 1428 c.c.) But in this specific case, the mistake is not so obvious, so the seller would be forced to sell it for the price shown (article 1336 c.c.)
I normally wouldn't mind, provided that this would help cutting the final prices. But if they use gen AI and prices keep growing at the same time, then there would be something very wrong. And somehow I have the feeling that the latter is exactly what's going to happen.
Great selection, no less. I was surprised to see how starting a whole new CP2077 game on Switch 2 could still keep me engaged and entertained, although I had already beaten it on PC.
Also, Silksong is definitely the "best bang for your buck" game. It's a really amazing title that also comes at an ethical price, although somehow this seems to annoy some people, for reasons I'm not even interested in hearing about.
MP4 and MKW are this year's best Nintendo games IMO. I'm still struggling to find the time to beat the former due to this month's crazy work schedule, while I still enjoy playing the latter from time to time, especially in free mode while listening to its wonderful soundtrack.
Since most of the games listed above are currently on sale, I'm also keeping an eye on Blippo+ and Time Flies since they're both from Panic, which is the same publisher as Untitled Goose Game and Thank Goodness You're Here, a couple of games that I loved playing. I know there are also titles like Hades II in this list, which I'll end up getting sooner or later anyway, but they also seem a bit too engaging and long for my current backlog. Absolum is definitely tempting though, and it shouldn't take too long to beat.
It looks very well made but I'm not sold, or better, being cyberpunk/futuristic themed is cool for a game but definitely not enough nor necessary for it to be fun. I might change my mind after trying the demo, but I doubt it, since my wishlist for next year is already pretty packed.
I'm not sure what this game has to do with Zelda, but it doesn't attract me much. I'd rather keep waiting for the release of Mina the Hollower instead.
@sarcasmasquach not sure if multiplayer counts as "couch co-op" but this game can be played by two players as long as both are using their own Switches and both own the game. I suppose you could play it on a tv while your friend plays it on his own Switch in portable mode to have the "couch effect".
I absolutely loved this game. I’m rather glad they didn’t translate it into Italian, as it encouraged me to play in dialect mode, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I did struggle with a few expressions here and there, but it was great fun overall. The humour is spot on, and the world is wonderfully imaginative.
@Dang_69 I think I could be accused of many things, but toxic positivity is definitely not one of them. Still, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen you going around criticising people just because they don't share your negative view about this or that, completely unprompted.
Just as I dislike people pointing fingers at others for being negative, I also loathe those who do the same when it comes to positivity.
I’m glad you preferred the 360 edition. I’ve beaten the Steam version several times—even recently—and it is by far the most detailed version available. Yet, I still enjoyed this Switch edition.
Can it be improved? Absolutely, just like everything else. Can it be enjoyed? Yes, and I did enjoy it, so I see no reason to make such a fuss about it. They haven’t even released a physical version yet, so there isn’t even the excuse that it’s not being updated in time for release. Not to mention that the price is a bargain.
If you don’t like it, then don’t play it—but rest assured, that’s your problem.
Jeez… This game runs just fine and smoothly at 60fps. It's damn fun, and I'm glad to finally have a port of such a great game on the Switch 2. I wish people would just learn to enjoy great games like this and stop overanalyzing things nobody asked them to, either because they’re not published by Nintendo or because they feel the need to act like scientists for no reason.
MP4, of course. Besides, I've been playing Thank Goodness You're Here since yesterday evening and I've already beaten it. It's a pretty short game and I had a hard time understanding some dialect expressions, but it's a really imaginative game and I truly enjoyed it. What a nice surprise it was!

Once upon a time, you could buy a cartridge and be sure the game on it could run on your console regardless.

I've checked the store pages for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077—both are PEGI 18.
Given that, it's hard to understand how cr*p like Perky Little Things passed Nintendo's guidelines, while Dispatch was rejected. Something feels off.
Was there an attempt to slip an adult game through without proper labeling?
