Re: Feature: Farewell, Nintendo Switch - It's Finally Time To Bid Our Old Friend 'Adieu'

SirLink

I've just said goodbye to another Switch OLED, the TotK edition this time, and let my niece have it. She couldn't believe her eyes, it looks like she had been craving for that edition for quite a long time and I was glad to see her happy with it.

I find that the Switch 2 gives me more options, but the OLED is still a great console with an outstanding battery life, so I fully understand those who want to stick with it.

That said, despite the undeniable progresses, Nintendo really needs to hurry up making the remaining titles compatible against the Switch 2, unless they don't mind seeing people get the same games on Steam.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Massive Switch 2 eShop Discount Was An "Error"

SirLink

@cedarhyped @GoldenSunRM a seller can void the sale contract if there was a mistake which is clearly recognizable by both parties. If I set a Ferrari for sale for 400€ instead of 400000€, then there is obviously a mistake which can be easily acknowledged by the buyer (article 1428 c.c.)
But in this specific case, the mistake is not so obvious, so the seller would be forced to sell it for the price shown (article 1336 c.c.)

Re: Feature: Games Of The Year 2025 - Nintendo Life Staff Picks

SirLink

Great selection, no less. I was surprised to see how starting a whole new CP2077 game on Switch 2 could still keep me engaged and entertained, although I had already beaten it on PC.

Also, Silksong is definitely the "best bang for your buck" game. It's a really amazing title that also comes at an ethical price, although somehow this seems to annoy some people, for reasons I'm not even interested in hearing about.

MP4 and MKW are this year's best Nintendo games IMO. I'm still struggling to find the time to beat the former due to this month's crazy work schedule, while I still enjoy playing the latter from time to time, especially in free mode while listening to its wonderful soundtrack.

Since most of the games listed above are currently on sale, I'm also keeping an eye on Blippo+ and Time Flies since they're both from Panic, which is the same publisher as Untitled Goose Game and Thank Goodness You're Here, a couple of games that I loved playing. I know there are also titles like Hades II in this list, which I'll end up getting sooner or later anyway, but they also seem a bit too engaging and long for my current backlog. Absolum is definitely tempting though, and it shouldn't take too long to beat.

Re: Video: Pragmata Hands-On Impressions Shared By Capcom

SirLink

It looks very well made but I'm not sold, or better, being cyberpunk/futuristic themed is cool for a game but definitely not enough nor necessary for it to be fun. I might change my mind after trying the demo, but I doubt it, since my wishlist for next year is already pretty packed.

Re: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Updates Planned For Switch Platforms

@Dang_69 I think I could be accused of many things, but toxic positivity is definitely not one of them. Still, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen you going around criticising people just because they don't share your negative view about this or that, completely unprompted.

Just as I dislike people pointing fingers at others for being negative, I also loathe those who do the same when it comes to positivity.

I’m glad you preferred the 360 edition. I’ve beaten the Steam version several times—even recently—and it is by far the most detailed version available. Yet, I still enjoyed this Switch edition.

Can it be improved? Absolutely, just like everything else. Can it be enjoyed? Yes, and I did enjoy it, so I see no reason to make such a fuss about it. They haven’t even released a physical version yet, so there isn’t even the excuse that it’s not being updated in time for release. Not to mention that the price is a bargain.

If you don’t like it, then don’t play it—but rest assured, that’s your problem.

Re: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Updates Planned For Switch Platforms

SirLink

Jeez… This game runs just fine and smoothly at 60fps. It's damn fun, and I'm glad to finally have a port of such a great game on the Switch 2. I wish people would just learn to enjoy great games like this and stop overanalyzing things nobody asked them to, either because they’re not published by Nintendo or because they feel the need to act like scientists for no reason.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th December)

SirLink

MP4, of course. Besides, I've been playing Thank Goodness You're Here since yesterday evening and I've already beaten it. It's a pretty short game and I had a hard time understanding some dialect expressions, but it's a really imaginative game and I truly enjoyed it. What a nice surprise it was!

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2025 Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

SirLink

Well, it's obvious they didn't mean to offend Nintendo, so they HAD to give them some awards lol

Also, I'm surprised to see a pretty boring game like NMS still getting awards.

Anyway, congratulations to Sandfall Interactive, I hope to see their game published on Switch 2 someday.

Re: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

SirLink

Don't get me wrong guys, I love Super Metroid to pieces, but it isn't as thrilling as Fusion, in a way you wouldn't expect from a 23-year-old 2D game. That's my #1.
Also, Zero Mission and Dread are underrated. And honestly, does it even make sense to have two editions of Metroid Prime in this ranking? The Switch edition is far superior to the GCN one, just use that.

As for Prime 4, I haven’t really had the chance to play much because of crunch at work, but I’m planning to spend this weekend playing it, so hopefully I'll be able to judge it soon.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2) - Samus Returns In Prime Form

SirLink

I've just started this game tonight, so it's still too early for me to judge the gameplay. What I can say so far is that this game is just so astoundingly beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.

Seriously, the environments, NPCs, mechs, everything — it goes beyond any expectations. Hopefully, I'll soon be able to say the same about the gameplay, though it's a busy time for me right now.

What's really disappointing, though? An additional 2.1GB download for the Switch 2 cartridge on D1. Wtf, Nintendo, seriously, just stop this once and for all.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - SNES Classic Mini Console

SirLink

The American box isn’t bad, but the thing is, I just don’t like the American console case at all.
The Japanese box looks cool, but it still doesn’t show the actual product.
So I guess the European one is the best. Glad I managed to grab one before scalpers showed up.

Re: "Consumers Generally Do Not Care" About AI In Games, Says Former Square Enix Exec

SirLink

@Arkabed

Overall IQ dropped by half in the last 20 years and corporations are doing all they can to continue making ppl stupid.

What you said deserves to be written in giant letters everywhere for everyone to see.

People are afraid of AI, yet they haven’t cared for decades about other fundamental issues, like the worsening of their quality of life, the decline of the welfare state, or the fact that people are becoming more and more ignorant despite having greater technical knowledge, just to name a few. All of this was often met with relentless demagoguery.

We were growing zombies long before AI came along.

Re: Surprise! Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Is Available Now On Switch & Switch 2

SirLink

Maaaaaaan, I picked it up and embarked on another run yesterday evening, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying every moment since! I absolutely adore it, and I sincerely hope Aspyr is planning to release the entire trilogy soon, as it truly deserves the attention.

Frankly, I think far too many people are quick to criticize this company without any real justification.

Re: "Consumers Generally Do Not Care" About AI In Games, Says Former Square Enix Exec

SirLink

Using or not using AI services isn’t really a binary thing. What really matters is how it's used and in which parts, and the results of this are evident to everyone. I also use it in my daily development work, and it has significantly sped up my tasks.
No, AI doesn’t fill in for me, and I’m not afraid it might steal my job, as it’s completely useless without my intervention, knowledge, and experience.
Besides, I always avoid giving it sensitive information about what I do, as it might become a double-edged sword. You’re always the ones who make the difference, guys.

As a customer? No, I don’t care whether AI was used or not, as long as the product doesn’t suck.
Besides, to be honest, I believe most people blabbering about a product's quality have no real basis to evaluate it properly.

Re: The Game Awards Nominees Announced, Donkey Kong Bananza Up For GOTY

SirLink

@iLikeUrAttitude @FishyS The reviews are exactly what I was talking about. Still, I guess you’re right, seeing DK Bananza on that list isn’t really shocking, especially with obviously biased sites like NL reviewing games on what’s still a niche platform like the Switch 2.

Speaking of Silksong, I love it to bits, but I’ve got to admit it has its flaws (mainly its economy and the fact that you can run through the same screens over and over without even realizing a boss is nearby), mostly carried over from the previous game. So I doubt it deserves a GOTY, sadly.
Still, it’s way more deserving than DK Bananza, if nothing else, it reached far more people by not being tied to a single platform, earning a wider approval.

Honestly? I’m not that excited about this year’s lineup.
