@Samalik Sorry, but it's Capcom. I don't know where you live, but here in Europe it would surprise me a lot if they even did a keycard release, let alone a full physical cartridge.
Outside of Monster Hunter they've shown no interest whatsoever in doing physical releases in this region for Switch for the past 8 years.
Very pleasant surprise! Never had a chance to play this back as a kid, time to rectify that ^_^
It's nice to hear from Treasure after all this time, but I do wish they'd sort something out with Square Enix and get Mischief Makers to the NSO service. Such a weird and fun game that really deserves a re-release.
This and now being able to farm coins and NPC characters using custom items in VS mode are some really big, and much appreciated, changes.
I too hope they'll add p switch obstacles and rails to a lot of other intermission tracks, that's all most of them need imo, just more stuff in the track.
@Stormcloudlive Nintendolife just using a poor choice of words to describe the demo. It's a limited-time demo, you get 3 hours to play it and choose from a limited number of activities to get an overall feel of the game.
They really should have just put "limited time demo" or something in the tagline instead imo. There's no catch where the demo suddenly starts draining your bank account or something lol
Love the Tales series, but Namco really needs to start putting some actual effort in optimizing these before I ever buy one of their games again.
It baffles me how they still can't manage to do 60fps and good loading times on games that had that back during the Wii days on much, much, MUCH weaker hardware. And I'm willing to bet money on their next Tales re-release being just as mediocre in terms of performance.
I'm glad I put this one on hold until after Metroid Prime 4 and cleaning up some of my back log. All the updates and changes are most welcome. Always gets a big thumbs up from me when a developer does a lot of post-launch support and listens to feedback.
Also, one strange benefit of having a massive backlog is that by the time you get to a game, it most likely has received multiple updates and/or DLC for you to go through in one go ^_^
It's a great time to start too, they've done a lot the past few years to make this game make accessible to newcomers. The October 15th update even adds a much needed quest to explain the modding system to new players.
I'd actually recommend downloading the game now and making your account in advance and play a tiny bit up until you get access to your orbiter (your base of operations), I believe this is right after the first quest where you escape from Vor. I say this because the new update will give players a free Oberon Warframe from the 15th until the 21st if you log in during that time, to celebrate his rework, and he's a Paladin style healer who's normally kinda hard to get in the game.
It's currently only for people with the Steam version, but they do mention console support and I'm guessing we'll hear about that too in that presentation they're doing next week.
@Dee123 That's exactly the reason, it's "serviceable", but not great like they wanted it to be. On release it disappointed many, the developers themselves included, and they want to fix that.
They've changed so much for this re-release, from controls and graphics to adding much more challenges and enemies and even completely redoing the opening segment and adding more story, that imo they should have just called it a remake.
Even people who really didn't like/hated the original are very positive about the game in recent previews thanks to all the changes.
And personally speaking, it would be nice if this release finally made the haters shut up and we could talk about this game without an angry mob jumping us for daring to like it ^_^
It did have a bunch of smaller exclusive games, with some made with that crank handle in mind, so if this patent from Nintendo ever actually gets made the developers will have an opportunity to reach a much bigger audience.
Hmm, reading through their website it actually has quite a few features. Even stuff like tools to make your own games for it.
I feel like this game and the Welcome Tour tech demo would've been a great fit as part of a Nintendoland 2 (anyone remember that one?) game or something. Had quite a bit of fun with that on WiiU and it was a good showcase of what the system was capable of.
And Drag x Drive really needs a better artstyle! Why does it look so bland and lifeless?
Around 1 hour when a friend came over. Knockout Tour was a blast and I can see myself really liking the free roam and missions, but free roam not supporting local splitscreen co-op was a gigantic bummer as I love 100%-ing games with my friend if possible.
Haven't played it afterwards, I've a backlog with a bunch of games that have priority over this.
Really enjoyed the first game, despite its issues, but always felt it needed a sequel to iron out all the kinks and make something really good.
This is looking great and it being all on the cartridge means it's gonna be one of the few Switch 2 games I'll do day 1, instead of waiting for sales. Great job Marvelous! ^_^
Great to see, but I'll stick to PC for Sonic games.
The modders of the Sonic community are on a different level, so I'm always looking forward to whatever great stuff they cook up to enhance the games ^_^
The 2 Nioh games and Dead or Alive 5 are well regarded and Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound looks to be a very good game as well. They also did Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty which was a lot of fun and Rise of the Ronin was pretty good too. It was rough for a bit, but they've gotten back on their feet and are doing very well imo.
The only time I felt they really dropped the ball was with Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection. A lot of issues (performance in Razor's Edge can get rather iffy with some parts having VERY bad resolution), missing features, lack of easy QoL things they could've added, etc. I feel like that was just an easy cash grab with almost zero effort put into these ports. Ninja Gaiden deserved better than that v.v
A better question is: has Itagaki made anything great since he left? And sadly for his fans the answer is a big fat NO! Only 2 games in 17 years and one was a gigantic failure and the other is just okay at best...
Extremely well made game and would've been my GotY if Freedom Planet 2 didn't release this year as well, but Ubisoft really dug their own grave with all the discounts they do.
This game was 50% off in my country, just 3 weeks after release O.O Why would you ever buy their stuff day 1?! And now the general audience has also figured this out and their sales plummet, what a surprise. NOT!
I feel sorry for the team that made this game. A lot of love and hard work went into this game, you can tell, but upper management clearly didn't believe in this game (very little promotion of this game too) and they apparently had to fight real hard to be allowed to do the DLC.
This franchise just can't seem to catch a break v.v
Most of the things you mentioned they're already doing. Filling the levels with more collectibles, challenges and enemies, snow now reacts to you walking through it and a bunch of other small things to make the levels less empty and lifeless. (I do wish they'd show off more then just the snow level, but it was the most empty and lifeless level in the game, so I get why that one gets shown off so much)
A bunch of QoL improvements too like a map and fast travel system and a bunch of gameplay flow improvements. From what we can tell, they're going all out on polishing the game as much as possible.
Fixing load times is gonna be the difficult one, the Switch is not good when it comes to loading times. Nintendo themselves are wizards at optimizing, but you can tell with 3rd party games that this part of the Switch is just plain weak.
But considering the graphical enhancements and the original game struggling on Switch, I really think this remaster is gonna be a Switch 2 game and the few leaked specs we have do point to the Switch 2 having wayyy better hardware in terms of loading power. Them announcing the game for all platforms and just saying "Nintendo" instead of Switch, also hints at this.
Been loving all the changes they're making to this fun, but very flawed game, and I hope this'll become the great Banjo love-letter it was meant to be ^_^
Getting all moves from the start is something I'm 50/50 on though...
On one hand it'll avoid potential problems for newcomers with stuff like the security camera section in the 1st world and not knowing that it requires an ability from later in the game, but how are they gonna balance stuff like getting the flight ability this early?
It also removes one of the big nice things of entering a new world: getting new moves to play with.
Hmm... now that I think about it, they could do it like Banjo-Kazooie did and make it tied to specific pads in the worlds, so you can't activate whenever you want and cheese everything.
It was a matter of time before this one was announced, but glad to see it!
First one was one of the better arena fighters out there, in terms of combat mechanics, and very fun to play, but a lack of content, bad online netcode and poor roster balance (Susamaru and Akaza ruined the game competitively and Susamaru even got buffed in the final patch?!) really dragged down the experience.
I hope they'll improve on those points, this game has the potential to be truly great.
Day 1 if it's shown in the reviews that they've fixed the graphical errors that were present in the trailer, otherwise I'll get it on a sale or used down the road.
Played it at a friend's place who got lucky and got it early, but god! The game has some godawful pacing with the nonstop dialogue interruptions, it's not even particularly good dialogue, that you can't skip for some reason...
And while the combat is fun and all, it's not enough to compensate for just how mediocre and downright exhausting the rest of my 2 hour play session was.
The Smurfs on the old gameboy was the very first game I ever played. Very fond memories of that one and replayed it recently and it still holds up as a very solid platformer (a banger soundtrack too).
Haven't played another smurf game since then, but gotta admit I'm kinda tempted by this one.
I've played the Shadow part at a friend's place yesterday and it ran just fine. No noticeable framerate issues and the loading times were better than expected, not bad at all O.O
I'm still gonna get the PC version myself though, the Sonic modding community is amazing and am looking forward to what they'll do for this one ^_^
It's a really crazy patch, changes a lot about how the game is played and a lot of characters have received insane buffs. Super Broly getting easy super meter charges with auto combos and infinite recharging super meter after using his level 3 super is just an example.
Got a chance to play the DLC at a friend's place, he's a reviewer that got an early copy and wanted my opinion as a long time Prince of Persia fan, and I'll keep this spoiler-free (spoiler tags just to be safe, I'm not entirely sure what people consider spoilers nowadays):
It's 5 bucks, 3-6 hours depending on skill and if you're gonna hunt the talismans that you'll get to keep for the main game and it's accessible after doing the first major boss battle and escaping The Depths.
It was a lot of fun with the usual top-notch platforming sections and combat this game has and Radjen was a very cool fight with a lot of tricky moves. They also gave a a fair bit of backstory on Radjen and also explained why Anahita kidnapped the prince.
The only downsides are the high difficulty for how early you can access it (first time players are NOT gonna have a good time with the difficulty spike), the difficulty and the requirements for unlocking the secret boss make me think this was intended to be a DLC for much farther into the story at one point but they changed it, and not getting a new Athra Surge for beating Radjen was a bit of a bummer to end the DLC on.
Seriously though, very impressive DLC for only 5 bucks.
Now THIS is great news! Have very fond memories of Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon and was hoping this one would come to the west.
Day 1 buy for me!
(I hope the 2 N64 Goemon games come to NSO one day as well, I never saw the 2nd one in the local stores as a kid so never got a chance to play that one)
Starts out decent, has some genuine great moments like the musical, but quickly detoriates in the 2nd half to some of the worst **** I've seen in a long time.
I could feel my IQ dropping during the whole bowling part. It was THAT dumb! >.<
SwitchUp did a review and it's 30fps, with some drops here and there mostly in combat with certain effects. Also has some weird flicker effect in the water when traversing with the hovercraft.
It's good enough I guess and this version does feature a lot of good tiny tweaks and additions to make it the best version of the game on a Nintendo console.
Do wish Ubisoft put a bit more effort in the performance side of things, but alas...
I wonder if this update for The Lost Crown also fixes some of the real nasty glitches it has:
The Impossible Climb sidequest glitching out, not starting or giving you the reward
Weird audio issues like no sound for some things, or an annoying "whoosh" sound that gets really loud too
The Kiana boss fight has a glitch where you can end up stuck outside the arena after doing the cinematic counter
And more glitches than that and those things do put a bit of a damper on what's otherwise a really great game >.<
Anyway, looking forward to the story DLC and I'll be firing up the game again for those trials. Loved some of the platform puzzles in the base game and I won't say no suped-up versions of the bosses ^_^
The game does hint multiple times that Sargon is the actual son of the current queen. But considering the whole thing where she usurped the throne and Vahram is the child of the previous king and thus the rightful heir, there's certainly an argument to be made for Sargon NOT being a prince...

Re: Nintendo Patent Featuring Crank And "Clickable Wheel" Attachments For Joy-Con 2 Surface

A quirky but "why would I ever play games on this" kinda system imo XD

SwitchUp did a review and it's 30fps, with some drops here and there mostly in combat with certain effects. Also has some weird flicker effect in the water when traversing with the hovercraft.
It's good enough I guess and this version does feature a lot of good tiny tweaks and additions to make it the best version of the game on a Nintendo console.
Do wish Ubisoft put a bit more effort in the performance side of things, but alas...
Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Is "Real And Happening" According To Latest Update
Loved Final Fantasy Tactics Advance as a kid!
I hope this comes out, never got a chance to try this one out and I'm curious how it compares.
Re: Nintendo Is Seeking More Talent To Help Run Its Switch Online Service
NSO definetly needs improvements like being able to swap buttons (the Super Game Boy could even do that >.>) and a bunch of other stuff.
Hopefully that'll happen next gen, don't see them doing anything big in the current gen anymore.
Re: Round Up: Every Switch Announcement At Ubisoft Forward (June 2024)
I wonder if this update for The Lost Crown also fixes some of the real nasty glitches it has:
And more glitches than that and those things do put a bit of a damper on what's otherwise a really great game >.<
Anyway, looking forward to the story DLC and I'll be firing up the game again for those trials. Loved some of the platform puzzles in the base game and I won't say no suped-up versions of the bosses ^_^

Well, regarding The Lost Crown:
The game does hint multiple times that Sargon is the actual son of the current queen.
But considering the whole thing where she usurped the throne and Vahram is the child of the previous king and thus the rightful heir, there's certainly an argument to be made for Sargon NOT being a prince...
