@GrailUK I don't want them to ditch the 3DS, I just want to be rid of the "oh wow, a new interesting looking game is announced, I want that for my Switch! .....and it's only on 3DS, again! sighes" fase we're currently stuck in v.v
Never bought the first one on Wii U as the demo had a serious deadzone issue with aiming, there were a lot of topics on forums about this problem, which they never bothered to fix for the full game.
The game did intrigue me back then, so may pick this up down the line when the price is closer to what it costs on Steam (the portability is nice). It's a bit too pricey for me right now, especially with part 2 being digital forcing me to buy more memory for the Switch >.>
I'll get it used and cheap somewhere down the line if I haven't forgotten about the game at that point...
Having to wait this long compared to the other versions, having to pay more for physical (I don't see any of that 10 bucks "Switch tax" nonsense on 60 bucks games so I call shenanigans on it being a necessary evil) and a lower resolution to boot? Add mixed reviews to that and... Nah, not worth full price to me and don't want to support this kind of practise, but won't deny myself an interesting looking game.
Now when will we finally get some release date news on Yooka Laylee?! I really want to play that >.<
Just like I am Setsuna it looks like one of the millions of cheaply made chibi/super deformed style RPG's we have on the 3DS, the usual increased price trick for physical, most likely not properly optimized like with I am Setsuna's inexcusable lower framerate compared to other versions, etc. The mixed reviews of that game also don't make me hopeful about this game's quality...
Nah, not feeling this game at all. Wake me up when Square Enix gets serious about Switch and decides to bring their bigger stuff to Switch and stops treating the console like it's the 3DS...
PS
I AM gonna buy Dragon Quest XI though, as it's the only big/serious release Square Enix is giving us and the game just looks like a lot of good turn-based fun ^_^
The games I've played from THQ Nordic aren't exactly "masterpieces of software coding" and I'm putting it very mildly, so them having trouble making a game run smooth on a platform is not exactly news to me...
I really like how they're actively supporting every platform out there, even Nintendo whom others love to ignore, and do their best to keep their promises, but they really need to improve their programming skills >.<
One of the most underappreciated gems in gaming history and one of my personal top 10 games gets another shot at fame... and it's now portable as well?!
rips wallet apart
I really hope they manage to add some new stuff in it too, but considering Platinum Games dislike DLC and make it a point to cram as much into the base game as they can, it's unlikely though v.v
Edit: since the Switch doesn't have dual screens this means they'll have to re-do the few sections that made use of this and I'm happy for that as they felt forced and weren't very fun to play imo.
Also hope they kinda work on the flying/SHMUP sections where it was easy to get rammed by enemies suddenly coming in from behind or they already start shooting at you before you can see them, thus requiring level memorization instead of reaction skills to dodge some things... that was not fun on higher difficulties where you die in 2-3 hits >.<
Also hoping for some finetuning for the flying controls themselves as they were too sensitive in chapter 9-B for example.
.....okay, I'll stop ranting now before my unhealthy obsession with this game comes back in full force again xd
That sucks, guess I'll just wait for somebody to hack the Wii U to properly display 4:3 aspect ratios on old crt tv's and use that for my retro games (yeah, my Wii U is now my collective retro games on TV, Wii U games on the gamepad console). The 4:3 setting is there, but it doesn't work as intended, making it so that you have to play with either a part of the game outside of the screen, or black bars. Nintendo never bothered fixing that >.<
"- TAIL GRAB: fixed a bug where Tail Grab was unreliable"
Oh! That's nice! I had quite a few problems using this reliably, but always assumed it was because Noodle was too close to obstacles, preventing Doodle from grabbing him.
Once it supports SNES and N64 I will be all over it! My Gameboy is getting close to dying, my SNES pads are worn down and my N64 always gets so freakishly hot when playing for long sessions (it's because of that Expansion Pak without a doubt as it started as soon as I put that thing in...).
Something to replace those would be very appreciated ^_^
Didn't vote on the "are you planning to participate in the upcoming Global Testpunch?" question because there was no "I would love to, but all the online times are during my working hours/sleep time" option v.v
Gonna buy the game on day 1 anyway though as it looks really awesome so I guess I'll need to be patient until then...
The free updates thing is a great tactic for giving a game more longevity. It worked wonders for Splatoon, it's the main reason I kept playing it for so darn long as those new DLC toys just kept pulling me back in whenever I got tired of it, so I'm really happy to see it come back for ARMS ^_^
Had to look it up and it turns out to be a clone of an Amiga game from 1993... a 1993 game that looks better than this one? Yeah, I'm with ThanosReXXX on this one.
Got Legend as a birthday gift when I was a little kid and loved it. It's one of my favorite games on the SNES! It's one of those games that didn't get many good scores from professional reviews, but we gamers loved it anyway ^_^
PS
That Jailer mini-boss can go burn in hell! Got thrown in jail so many times because of that guy and that level is NOT easy to get out of >.>
@JasmineDragon Yeah, rubberbanding is a tricky beast to pin down due to it reacting to the player. I've seen multiple people who don't find it a problem at all, while others like me want to kill it with fire.
Doesn't really matter much at this point though as I doubt I'll be playing this game anymore once Mario Kart releases anyway.
Great to see this added, but I hope they also do something about the rubberband A.I. It's a fun game... until the CPU racers decide you've been in 1st place long enough and race past you with double your maximum speed v.v
@Yasume Big thanks to NintendoLife's staff for adding an Ignore button.
Time to test it out on you so I don't have to read your crap on every page anymore, coz I was getting really tired of that breathes a sigh of relief. Every online site should have ignore buttons, makes life so much more enjoyable ^_^
Took me awhile, but narrowed it down. Wanted to pick great games that could work well in any mode of play, multiplayer included if the game has it, and a lot of those games are great.
No splitscreen as Fast RMX has thought me that you really need the entire screen to properly see what you're doing when playing in tabletop aka portable multiplayer mode.
1. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Absolute gem of a game and imo the best 2D platformer since the SNES era. Has co-op that doesn't use splitscreen and is well suited for both extended playthroughs and short bursts of play while on the go.
This is also a game that deserves another shot at fame, coz it did not perform as well as it should have... probably due to us drowning in 2D platformers on the Wii U and it being the "why didn't Retro announce a new Metroid instead of this" game.
2. Smash Bros. 4. Smash Bros. always sells consoles and if there's one game that can demonstrate the "play anywhere, however you want" philosophy of the Switch to people... it's this game!
3. Xenoblade Chronicles X. Not a game that has any real multiplayer in it, but still my 3rd choice. Why? Because it's a really neat JRPG and the genre lends itself well to either long play sessions or short bursts on the go (just ask the 3DS with its huge amount of RPG's). Also, the game has a ton of issues, but most of those are small things that can be easily fixed in a re-release.
That Hearty Radish recipe is a good thing to know. Wouldn't recommend wasting the meat you get from wildlife for cooking anyway.
A Meat Skewer made from Gourmet Meat sells for 500 rupees and the same one made from Prime Meat sells for 200 rupees, making wild life hunting a great way of racking up cash fast!
I detest being treated worse than owners of other consoles like 3rd parties LOVED doing on Wii U and these guys WILL feel this.
I'll put this one on my "I'll get it dirt cheap and used a couple of years from now if it gets good reviews" list and perhaps I won't have forgotten about the game by then...
It's Tecmo Koei + Dynasty Warriors games... this did not surprise me at all. Those guys can't make fluid 60fps/properly functioning games if their lives depended on it and they have a reputation for trying to make lazy/quick bucks. Add the bad optimization a lot of Day 1 games on new hardware have and you get this.
It does, unfortunately, demonstrate the amount of effort they're willing to put into the Switch so expect similar performance issues with FE Warriors >.<
According to N1ntendo.nl the Japanese versions of I am Setsuna and Disgaea 5 also have an option for English text, so you can sorta add Disgaea 5 to that launch line-up ^_^
@SetupDisk Agreed, but it needs to be without stage rotation though so all stages can come up. Still some stages left that I never got to play on thanks to that stupid rotation mechanic v.v
And for the love of god, get rid of random abilities/locked main abilities on equipment! As it is now you usually can't look the way you want while having all the abilities you want. Make the abilities purchasable.
@UberMadman Just saw the awesome news, here's hoping we get more automatic Electric Terrain setters for competitive play as I very much doubt Tapu Koko will be legal considering its a Legendary.
Gen 7 is looking veryyyy interesting with all the new stuff its bringing to the table ^_^
I wonder if Alola Raichu gets Levitate? It would make sense and seems probable considering it's airsurfing on its tail and it being a Electric/Psychic type now as quite a few Psychic types have access to Levitate already.
