It's actually graphics and fps vs portability and better loading times in Trial of Mana's case. PS4 being 60fps and the Switch having the better loading times.
It really boils down to what you think is more important. I myself am going with the Switch version. I like to have RPG's portable and I'm not bothered by 30fps in games that don't require split-second reactions. Long loading times on the other hand really grind my gears >.<
Keep going Atlus, just a tiny bit more of this bs and I'll put you on the "I'll buy your games used, because I don't want to give my hard-earned cash to this kind of company" pile alongside EA and co.
What happened to you guys? You weren't like this in the past >.<
What happened is that Nintendo themselves seemed to not really believe in this game, and with how they handled its release it got victimized by Splatoon 2. It got far less promotion than Splatoon, was released just a few weeks before that game (and you could tell coz the playerbase dropped a lot when Splatoon came), and Nintendo never supported it as much as that game. Only 6 months for new content updates followed by a few months of smaller updates (they called it "small", but they added a lot of gametypes for their Splatfest-like event and some new weapons, so kudos to the devs) was all it got, while Splatoon got more than double that support.
It was also hard to create hype coz as much as I love playing the game... it's really boring to watch. Hype tournament material this is not. And there was that thing where as soon as you dared to speak positively of it online, you'd get swarmed by haters every single time...
And despite ARMS having all that going against it, it still managed to sell over 2 million copies. Truly an underdog boxer story in game form ^_^
Would love a sequel down the line, especially with some real arcade/story modes in it and far more unlockable stuff. The game's world is actually quite interesting if you dig into the backstory stuff that's sprinkled about.
PS
Sorry about the wall of text, I have a habit of doing that for games that I love xd
@SwitchForce Just make use of that awesome ignore function (man! If only that function was available in real life lol) and leave them be, those people never learn/change their ways anyway xd
On-topic: always great to see patent trolls losing to Nintendo. But I do hope Nintendo loses the joy-con drift case in the US. They really need to realize they can't keep ignoring that issue.
Don't count on it. The Indivisible devs finally responded to someone on the official forum, when questioned about the almost 6 month radio silence, and it was basically: "We're very busy working on that version and some other content we still need to release for Indivisible, but we have nothing to report now".
Yeah.... sounds like we can call ourselves very lucky if the Switch version launches at all this year, based on this statement and my experience with other kickstarter based games >.>
I'm also waiting for Super Cloudbuilt to be announced for the Switch, love that game and would gladly double-dip for a portable version, but I reckon the devs have moved on at this point v.v
I'll let you know what I thought of them once I'm done (them being poorly designed and probably unfair should be mitigated to a degree by all the rewind/save point stuff they added in these releases), but I don't do playthroughs anymore. Just don't have the time or energy anymore for all that Youtube stuff.
I have it physical, sitting here as part of the Megaman Legacy box they did in Japan a few months ago. When I'm done with Nier Automata I'm gonna do a big chronological run of all 25 Megaman games. I only played Megaman 1/2/9/10 and Megaman X1/X2 back in the days, so this is gonna be one heck of a ride!
I did watch some reviews for the Zero/ZX Collection and everyone is saying how good that release is, looking forward to it ^_^
Now they just need to fix the customization screen being 4:3 aspect ratio and the low-quality pre-rendered cutscenes.
Not holding out hope for the latter, but it's nice to see Capcom actually putting in a bit of effort to patch their releases for once.
I doubt they would ever do proper physical again on Switch, for all territories that is, since their current Cheapcom tactic works, but this news and the quality of the Megaman Zero/ZX Collection gives me hope for the future in terms of quality.
They found a Gogeta line in the data files that is an indirect reference to Omega Shenron. So there's hope for him, Pan on the other hand though... not seeing her happen.
Bought this game a few days ago after the season 3 announcements convinced me to take a chance with it, total fighting game noob that never played any game in the genre seriously except Smash coz I'm not a fan of having to learn dozens of inputs just for a simple combo and versus games are definitely outside my comfort zone, and my take after 4 hours is:
It's surprisingly easy to learn the basic stuff to get you going, think of auto combos that you do with mashing light/medium/heavy that already lead to some decent damage and some basic universal combos that take around 10-20 minutes to memorize. They also made sure to make everything either a directional input or just a quarter circle motion, no shoryuken/charge inputs or any of that more tricky stuff. Even the character specific combos in the combo trial are not that difficult to learn as they, based on Goku's combo trial alone so take this with a grain of salt, seem to be just small variations of the universal combo routes.
After these 4 hours I think I'm capable enough now to try some low level ranked matches, not something I expected to be able to say.
Finally, they're also gonna revamp the entire tutorial mode next week in the season 3 update to makes things smoother for newcomers, so that should help us ^_^
I know I've been hard on Capcom when it comes to their Switch support, but I've gotta give props to Capcom this time: they're doing an awesome job of making this Switch port worth the money bows.
But, I'm gonna hold off on this one for a while. There's always a possibility of them doing a physical (remember the Resident Evil 4 stunt they pulled?) a couple of months down the line and I prefer having a physical edition for a game I really loved back in the day. It's pretty much the game I bought a PS2 for and it ignited my love for hack & slash! ^^
Now we just need DMC 4 and we'll have the old generation of Devil May Cry all together on a portable device ^_^
Everything that wasn't a big Nintendo IP sold poorly on Wii U, can't really use that as a comparison to it selling poorly then and now being hyped about. People just didn't care for the Wii U and anything that released on it. Sad, but true v.v
As for the big second life it's getting now: A lot of word of mouth marketing has been done over the course of 7 years, by me and many others, making it a bit of a cult classic. Also, Platinum currently has way more mainstream appeal then they had back then, so if they announce something, the people will take notice ^^
They are good reasons for me as I still do all those things I mentioned and many others as well.
I did all digital with the 3DS and didn't like it one bit, good for you that you like all digital but I don't.
And just stomping all over people's choice for physical and their reasons for preferring it because you don't agree with it, by calling it selfish and entitled, is not only wrong, but also quite insulting and undermines any point you're trying and failing to make, coz as soon as you start the name-calling people are gonna stop listening to you.
I'm gonna pull the "sorry, but not sorry" card here like you did and cut this conversation short, because I don't feel like wasting my time talking to people that act like that, so sorry about that.
Pretty much this. Namco Bandai always has been against releasing stuff on Nintendo consoles, or they release something and then quickly make an improved version for other consoles..., for some unclear reason.
Having it on your shelves is a nice feeling. I go through my collection from time to time when I'm in the mood to replay something and it always brings back memories, you don't really get that with digital imo.
Plus, the ability to resell, loan it to a friend and not losing a lot of storage space are big plusses too ^_^
Edit: totally forgot that digital prices on Nintendo's consoles are quite often higher than what you pay for the physical version, so there's another big reason for me preferring physical.
Bought it on Switch, enjoyed it quite a bit. Hopefully this will get more attention on PC, releasing alonside Link's Awakening and the publisher refusing to let people cover the game really hurt its sales, and it will lead to a sequel down the line. Although I do vaguely remember an article awhile ago about the developers being happy with the sales they got?
There's a lot they can improve for a sequel, melee being slow, clunky, limited and just not fun in general is a big one, so here's hoping ^_^
Very happy about Luigi's Mansion 3 breaking top 10. Well deserved imo. Not in the top 10, but definetly one I'm very happy about as well, is Astral Chain breaking the 1 million barrier!
It's so nice to finally see Platinum Games get strong sales on their awesome games ^_^
Nope, you do need to remove the artbook stuff to put the Zero/ZX collection in it. The only gripe I have with the box set is that they didn't make it so you could put both the artbook stuff and the collection in it.
Oh well, it's Capcom so I'm not surprised. There's always a "but!" with them >.>
The developers said that they will release a physical edition down the line, but only when they've finished the DLC so that they can put everything on the cartridge.
Personally, I can wait. Plenty of stuff to play in the meantime ^^
Japan did get a fully physical boxset last month that contained Megaman Legacy 1 + 2 (I believe this is the only way to get 2 as a physical), Megaman 11 and Megaman X Legacy 1 + 2.
I got it in the mail recently and am very happy with it, as it even has room to fit the Megaman Zero/ZX Legacy Collection in once it releases ^_^
It was an error? What a surprise, not! Like Capcom would actually put something new-ish on the Switch instead of their usual overpriced re-releases of old games >.>
Just got the triple pack in the mail... and there are no downloads whatsoever.
No DLC on the eshop to download, no patches, nothing. And when I fired up Ayesha and Escha & Logy to check, they already had a bunch of DLC costumes ready to go.
It seems like Play-asia's info about needing to download the DLC is false, not that I'm complaining xd
Gotta tip my hat to Gust and Tecmo Koei, they actually put everything on the cartridge! O.O
I did a bit of digging, but I can't find what the DLC is exactly for this release, but I do know what it was for the older versions (based on my experience with Ayesha & Logy):
ability to use characters from the previous game in your team
music packs from previous games. Atelier games have a, imo, very cool feature where you can set what music is played for things in the game. I really digged the boss theme of Ayesha and Logy, Fulcrum, so set that as the regular battle theme ^_^
extra sidequests and areas. Usually some new and extra hard bosses tossed in as well
Their info states that the triple pack comes in 1 cartridge and that you'll have to download the DLC. So a partial download still, but way better than 19 gigabytes per game (or whatever the size of the other 2 is...).
My very first Atelier game, that I bought on a whim for 25 bucks a few years ago, and still a great game to this day. Bought Ayesha soon after.
Though, I quickly learned about the whole trilogy thing this series does, the very overpriced DLC, and the "Plus" re-releases. Decided to hold off on buying the last one back then to wait for a Switch release (it's Tecmo Koei, complete editions are a given with them xd) and I'm glad my patience paid off.
Just a few more week until my physical sets arrives. Looking forward to going back to the world of Dusk ^_^
Either a full fledged anime of Breath of the Wild made like this, or a full series of that awesome CGI Majora's Mask animated short would be amazing to see!
Sooo... new games and the Switch getting its long-awaited V 1.0 firmware update at last? xd
Also, Super Mario 3D World port needs to happen at some point. With how well it's made for quick sessions of play with a great multiplayer component, it's honestly baffling how this one hasn't been ported yet o.O
Yeah, Capcom's sales on Switch are mostly the prices the games should've been from the start. Best not to buy their stuff on Switch unless you really like portability...
Great little game that I enjoyed very much, that just had a lot of bad luck back when it first released. Great songs too, got a lot of them on my usb stick for listening to while driving ^_^
Since the Dream Catcher song heavily references Calamari Inkantation from Splatoon, I'm holding out hope for one of the new songs to reference Fly Octo, Fly (I just want a full version of that song with lyrics that I can actually pronounce). Though there are no characters in the game that match Pearl and Marina so the odds of that are very low v.v
Once they finish all the updates I'll boot it up again. Very fun game, even though there's quite a few things I'd like them to improve upon for a sequel, and I hope there's some new boss battles in the DLC, coz man! Those were really darn fun to fight against ^_^
Figured that would happen with the Switch version, my clan was very active and huge but quickly dropped off a few months ago. I guess the others also got tired of the crappy performance (Eidolon hunting is NOT a pleasant experience on Switch >.<) or something.
I haven't played the game since Nightwave Season 2 ended, but I would definetly try and get back into it if they did a cross-save feature.
Maybe a cross-saves announcement? That would be nice as I do want to migrate to the PC version (much, much better performance and getting all updates a lot sooner? Yes please!).
Oh, who am I kidding? It'll probably be just another trailer for their final big update, Railjack, which they promised would release in its entirety this year...
They actually showed in the past that they were too lazy to do that for something kinda similar.
The Wii version of Resident Evil 4 had the option to play with the original Gamecube controller (they probably just didn't remove the code for it or something), but if you did that you only had the buttons from the Wii Classic Controller show up during QTE's and stuff.
They couldn't even be bothered to copy-paste the GC buttons from the old version. And then came the Switch port where they were too lazy to copy the motion control support from the Wii version xd
On-topic: Crapcom going at it again with their "let's wring every penny out of those Switch people with our old stuff, hahaha" tactic.
I wonder when they will realise that treating the Switch crowd like this could potentially hurt them in the long-run, especially when the new generation starts next year and they won't be able to rely on the other 2 consoles' install bases as much.
It was tricky, but I finally managed to secure a pre-order for the Megaman + Megaman X Legacy Special Box collection (Japan only sadly, so importing is necessary, but the box has room for the Zero/ZX collection as well ^^), so it's a bit of a bummer it'll arrive before Zero/ZX does, but I can wait ^_^
It's good to see that Capcom now, for once atleast, cares about the quality of their releases on Switch, and here's hoping to them doing Battle Network and Star Force collections... and I personally am hoping for a Megaman Gameboy collection.
Spawn Wave had some more info on this issue in one of his recent vids about an interview with Sakurai, where Sakurai vents his frustrations about all the crap Cero (the Japanese age rating institution) put him through.
Seriously, Smash Bros for WiiU almost got delayed because they kept being a pain about Palutena and Wonder Pink (yes, a trophy...), forcing Sakurai and his team do multiple remodelings...
Daemon X Machina, Astral Chain and Paladins for me this weekend. Still need to finish my playthrough of Daemon and want to do another run on a higher difficulty level for Astral Chain.
Capcom being a disappointment when it comes to Switch releases, what else is new? sighes
Real shame though that they put in so little effort, as they've generally got a lot of good/great games imo, but everytime there's a "but!" making it really hard to justify buying their stuff.
edit: ninja'ed by the_beaver about them being a disappointment xd
Whoa! Didn't know that box set and the Etsy covers was a thing. Thx for posting that! ^_^
The box even has room for the Megaman Zero and ZX collection. And strangely enough, the box seems to have room for 1 more case.
Now if Capcom were to release a Switch collection of the 5 Gameboy Megaman games (the first one was the very first Megaman I played, so always had a soft spot for the GB series) to go in there, it'd be amazing! ^_^

Even the character specific combos in the combo trial are not that difficult to learn as they, based on Goku's combo trial alone so take this with a grain of salt, seem to be just small variations of the universal combo routes.

Re: Astral Chain Director Says Nintendo Switch Exclusive "Sold Above Expectations"
Great game with an amazing artstyle and combat system! ^_^
Looking forward to a sequel, especially as there are a few things regarding the plot that are left open.
Re: GameStop's Internal Database Lists Multiple New SKU For Nintendo Switch
Sooo... new games and the Switch getting its long-awaited V 1.0 firmware update at last? xd
Also, Super Mario 3D World port needs to happen at some point. With how well it's made for quick sessions of play with a great multiplayer component, it's honestly baffling how this one hasn't been ported yet o.O
Re: Mario Kart Tour's New Year Event Starts On 31st December
Can we have some new courses for Mario Kart 8's battle mode instead? Please Nintendo? v.v
Re: Get Super Savings On Capcom Switch Games This Christmas, With Up To 50% Off (North America)
@IronMan30
Yeah, Capcom's sales on Switch are mostly the prices the games should've been from the start. Best not to buy their stuff on Switch unless you really like portability...
Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Takes To The Stage With English Sub Overview Trailer
Re: Daemon X Machina's Next Update Resolves Witcher 3 DLC Bug And Adds New Mission
Once they finish all the updates I'll boot it up again. Very fun game, even though there's quite a few things I'd like them to improve upon for a sequel, and I hope there's some new boss battles in the DLC, coz man! Those were really darn fun to fight against ^_^
Re: A Special Warframe Announcement Is Happening At This Year's Game Awards
@Jeronan
Re: Get Excited Dood, NIS America Is Teasing New Announcements For PAX South 2020
"Could they be Switch related?"
Nah! Don't be silly, ofcourse its announcements for the Vita and the PS3 dood! xd
Re: A Special Warframe Announcement Is Happening At This Year's Game Awards
Maybe a cross-saves announcement? That would be nice as I do want to migrate to the PC version (much, much better performance and getting all updates a lot sooner? Yes please!).
Oh, who am I kidding? It'll probably be just another trailer for their final big update, Railjack, which they promised would release in its entirety this year...
Re: Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Gets Delayed, Producer Thanks Fans For Understanding
@RupeeClock
Ordered from Nin-nin games and yeah, I know that Amazon still accepts pre-orders, but they are a lot more expensive.
Re: The Devil May Cry Switch Trilogy Pack Includes Download Codes For The Second And Third Game
@Toy_Link
Re: Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Gets Delayed, Producer Thanks Fans For Understanding
Re: What Sakurai Really Meant When He Said Smash Bros. "Is For Good Boys And Girls"

Re: Random: This Smash Bros. Fan Dressed Up As Master Hand And Crazy Hand For Halloween
Respect for this guy, that's an awesome costume!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 2nd)
Daemon X Machina, Astral Chain and Paladins for me this weekend. Still need to finish my playthrough of Daemon and want to do another run on a higher difficulty level for Astral Chain.
Re: Video: Resident Evil 5 And 6 Switch Demos Marred By Poor Performance
Capcom being a disappointment when it comes to Switch releases, what else is new? sighes
Real shame though that they put in so little effort, as they've generally got a lot of good/great games imo, but everytime there's a "but!" making it really hard to justify buying their stuff.
edit: ninja'ed by the_beaver about them being a disappointment xd
Re: Gogeta The Powerful Fusion Warrior Joins The Battle In Dragon Ball FighterZ
Did very much enjoy the demo back then, but I'll wait until we get a complete pack as well.
Re: "No Additional Downloads Required" For Physical Version Of Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection
@JaxonH
