@BranJ0 Agree. The energy did seem off. And speaking as a demonstrable fan boy, I thought the graphics looked pretty tired across the board. Not bad! But yeah, creaking somewhat. That said, day one non-the-less.
I worked at the pr agency who supported the launch of SMB in London. We of course handed out branded bananas to gamers . I also got a few SMB plush toys. They had to scrap/return thousands of them because they weren't up to EU fire code...I have 3, I just don't set them on fire. Great game.
Hugely off topic - but I’d love to see a feature in the Japanese Xbox fans. Are the ex pats ? What are they like? It’s borderline niche over there but I bet there is some interesting stories …
Not generally my genre but I love the look and the atmosphere it imparts. That, and the the tins of good reviews and comments are making it very tempting….I’ll wait on physical though.
I haven’t played it but look forward to doing so. I’m going to hang about for the physical release though.
One question, how much text is there and how easy is it to read? I find Witcher played portable difficult to enjoy as I like to read about all the items and lore etc, but can’t as it is so titchy, even with reading specs.
That said, I like the cozy and relaxed genre at times, and I appreciate games I can complete without too much sweat, but this seems way too short for 13 bucks…
Happy to see all this Pikmin love. Although I'm just up to my neck in Zelda, so they may have to wait a while....and I should really finish Advance Wars....
@HammerGalladeBro there is a marketing called “false scarcity” it may be that? Gets people involved and engaged fast so they can brag to their share holders , plan a financial future model and generally make people think it’s special as it’s limited time only! Maybe.
I popped into Target at about 9am yesterday. Apparently there had been a bit of line. I was offered the collectors version at $130 or the regular release, which I opted for. It came with a surprise “adventure pack” a Fanny/bum bag which I’ll never use but is a nice keepsake.
@larryisaman sort of with you on that. I like the exploring and can't always be bothered with the crafting. This said, I'll give it a go, maybe they've nailed it in a way that is more engaging for me...we'll soon find out!
@FishyS good post. I’d add that the weekend I saw it, there wasn’t much else on! That didn’t matter to me, I love a bit of Mario, but to the average parent and kid, it could have become the default weekend thing to see. Regarding other comments about “the critics” and trust. I find that I will listen to one or two that I’ve come to appreciate have similar tastes to me, which is useful for, say, album reviews.
Walked into my local Target and grabbed one. They hadn’t put them out so a fella went into the back to get it. Now I have it and can’t play until this evening - gah!
@makk_zucc me too. I even have the original games and a machine to play them on and I'm STILL dropping cash like a fool . I'm just looking forward to the new look and maybe some online capers.

Sad to hear people are losing their livelihoods, but given their resumes, I'm sure they will land somewhere - there's always a need for talent.
Selfishly, I'm rather more bothered about Bandcamp which I love and the company recently bought. Do. Not. Mess. With. Bandcamp.
