I admit to drinking the kool aid here. I prefer solo play first and foremost, followed by “couch play” going back to the snes days and after pub Mario kart sessions with flat mates. I’m sure I’ve missed out on some great online gaming experiences, but I can live with that. There are always annoyances with online stuff (“we are checking to see if your game can be played”) whereas with solid media and an offline game, you’re always good to go (and free of constant mega corp behavior tracking and monetization).

I’d be interested in what all the removed comments are saying. At least they are keeping the comments open this time…

I was all about the handhelds in the 90s, so this area kind of passed me by. Sure I had a 64 and a gc but not a huge amount of software for either of them outside the core Nintendo titles.

I had the pikachu pedometer and used to go clubbing with it…yeah yeah….it was rave, people had dummies in their mouths….anyways, I gave it away to mates kid and always regretted it ha ha.

Love it. I have so much knackered gaming kit that would be enhanced by this treatment

@SteamEngenius " a paint drying simulator". Y'know. This is Linda genius. I guarantee if someone made this and put it for sale $1, enough daft/curious people would try it. . Works for such screens. "no the paint is still wet"

A part of my childhood, sad to hear this. I can still vividly remember their chromo logo, thinking it was so futuristic and cool

I’m always up for a game of Tetris but I wish there could just be a basic version, full screen portrait mode. It would look great!

Skyrim is one of my fave games of all time. Second playthings ugh just now on Xbox 360, and absolutely loving it. I can almost justify 30$ for a portable version and a third play through at some point but….not quiet…..if you haven’t played it and you like the genre, you owe it to yourself to get it, 11 years old or not.

@Gs69 anywhere between 100 and 250k depending on the abject, time taken, seniority of design staff, asset creation, brand guideline book, revisions etc. might be less of f it’s a design firm that they currently retain or if it was doe in house.

If you can apply the game recipes in real life that would be a great piece of "edutainment"

@SoapMonki don’t despair! We MOSTLY don’t fight and do work together. I’ve read there is less war now than at any point in history. Collectively, we live longer than ever, healthier than ever, we are better educated, women are treated better. Not saying it’s perfect, there’s a long way to go yet. During disasters it’s always useful to look at the helpers, those that rush to do something, like this software dev for instance or those that give blood during a crisis.

Played these to death back in the day and mug that I am , will be buying and playing it all again

Will map editors be able to share? I don’t see the point in making your own to play? Or am I missing something ?

@frabbit Debatable! I don't see why not. Age shouldn't matter if the gameplay is there and if we are basing this on overall experience as opposed to breaking it down to Sound, Graphics etc. On the basis of overall gaming I'd give Tetris 10/10 today, even the GB version.

I’m a stickler for nice controls, so I’m not sure about this one. Otherwise I love the premise, the visuals and seemingly no stress gameplay.

@Don no it wouldn't. As the legalization of marijuana across the states has proved without a doubt. In fact the legalization of medical research into mushrooms is leading to breakthrough treatments particularly in the areas of mental health. Treated with respect, these plants can be wonderful for healing purposes as well as spending up your Mario Kart

This looks great - good review too. I'm heading off to YouTube to see if I can watch it in action (sorry NL, but I do see other sites from time to time).

I've played this for all of ten mins and couldn't get into it. Clearly, I need to persevere and crack on! Mind you, I was the exact same with Isaac, once I got fluid with it, I couldn't put it down

@WoomyNNYes ugh. I sold my beloved soectrum 48 and a ton of games to fund my c128 purchase and boy was I disappointed 12 year old. Glad you found some joy out of it though.

@Bydlak spectrum all day! I’m still feeling the sting from the Vega Indiegogo con. 100 quid I won’t see again. C64 was never my jam but his is still great news for fans .

Looks like some real care and love has gone into this , sweet art style too. If the controls are on point, I’d give this a whirl.

I’m back into games again after a few months of doing nothing but slobbing with graphic novels to relax. So, I’m now 6 hours into Skyward Sword and loving it, despite the controls tripping me up a bit (still), metroid dread, in short bursts, ace attorney, first time with that and I’m loving my second play though of Skyrim on 360. If I was rich I’d buy it again on switch but yeah, can’t quite justify it . Happy gaming weekend everyone!

Nice video. I’m in a little huff with my (new oled) switch, can’t find my AC save data….a crushing blow! In the meantime, I downloaded Ace Attorney in the sale, a game series that I missed the first time round and home it’s a good sofa slobbing game. Also bought Skyward Sword. Bought Snooker 19 too. Metroid, I’m stuck on , of course! Plenty to get on with on the run up to Xmas. I’m happy until Advance Wars comes out

I somehow missed this, it looks great! I’ll track the physical copy down. Posted before I saw the above post, $2 is hard to beat

This one had escaped me . I’m down. I’ve actually being playing a little Boulder Dash. Not bad and a good package available on the switch, including the original. Dig Dug was also a fun time at the arcade….so yeah, I like the look of this one and am happy to wait.

I would lay good money to have a port of dune 2 battle for Arakis on switch. Also, the new film is fantastic, even if it is just a third of a film

@oconnoclast you are not alone! I put a screen protector on a little DAP player I love. It has so many bubbles , it looks like bubble wrap. I only need to hold it up to render my kid helpless laughing at my Gen x fumbling….

Been a good five years of Nintendo gaming, and with my nice fresh oled , I can see many more happy years, if the slightly delicate (by Nintendo standards) tech lasts out.

I’ve also enjoyed the fact it’s been so popular, making news sites like this one a bit more fun…I know sales and popularity aren’t super important but as an N fan for so many years, it’s made a nice change

Metroid. BUT I really need to sort out the complicated muddle ive got myself in. New oled , my og is dead, some of my save data is on my kid’s lite. I tried to play Mario kart (from the kart) last night, won’t even play without some syncing with something. It’s massively frustrating. I know I’m aging myself here but I miss the days when you’d just slap a cart in and play the game without needing the internet and an account….grrrrrrr…….talk about first world problems but yeah, it’s frustrating.

10 mins into it and I’m like, oh cripes, this is going to be way to hard for me to enjoy. Having spent the cash I’m going to hope that enough play will allow me to memorize all the controls and get fluid. It’s a very beautiful game, fantastic atmosphere, I’ll keep on!

Works for mr. Specially if they keep the cheesy music

My launch OG has given up the ghost entirely (which is annoying and rare for Nintendo kit), so this is a must for me. Looking forward to Metroid, obvs, but it may also be good for Witcher - I found the text to small #oldman. Nice excuse to run through my library too, see how the games look. Course, the only issue is getting one. I'm hoping that the target near me will have one - I'm right out in the boondocks so, fingers crossed! The only negative has to be the lack of addressing the drift issue - seems liked a missed opportunity to me.
