I really don't know if people are doing this on purpose or not, but once again: You can play the physical Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cart on a Switch 1, only without the enhancements and extra contents. The cartridge itself already has the upgrade in it, no more downloads needed apart from patches/updates.
In other words, you can use a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cart to play the game on a Switch 1, as intended for the Switch 1, while you get a Switch 2 and be ready with the upgrade from the get-go by the time you get one.
This is true for all first-party releases that have had NS2Es, which means it will also be the case for the upcoming NS2Es of Animal Crossing and Mario Wonder.
And if physical NS2Es being actually Switch 1 carts with the upgrade is a compromise to have them also playable on Switch 1 in lieu of them being actual Switch 2 carts (which would mean faster load times but being unplayable on Switch 1s), I'll take it.
As it is, the physical NS2 Edition is a Switch 1 cart in red and with the upgrade on it, just like every other first-party NS2 Edition. This also allows it to be played on a Switch 1, only without the enhancements and extra content.
Trust me, if it were on a Switch 2 cart (thus, not allowing it to be played on a Switch 1), it would've created a bigger outrage for changing the playground that was already established for first-party NS2 Editions.
EDIT: Reading your comment below, I realize what you mean, but even then, if the physical NS2E didn't have the NS2 contents on the cart and needed to be downloaded, I think outlets (including NL) would've mentioned that on their reviews. I assume this upgrade prompt is only for versions (be it physical NS1 cart or digital) played on NS2 that haven't bought the upgrade digitally.
@The_Nintendo_Expat maybe as a sort of remaster or pseudo-remake, as in, have the SNES game as is (graphics and all) with the DS extras and the PS1 cutscenes (and optionally its soundtrack, I'm aware the song Boss Battle 1 is slightly extended in the PS version but I don't know if others are different as well). I really don't think it needs the FFVII Remake or HD-2D treatments.
Anyway, about future Chrono developments, I'm sure they can come up with something good, but without Akira Toriyama, the original Dream Team won't be together again for another go.
Jennifer Hale didn't deserve any of the hate she got. She was just filling a role that needed to be filled. Or would you rather have a silent Bayonetta?
Slightly off-topic: Do we know if her Samus grunts return in Metroid Prime 4?
Even at the hardest difficulty, the only game that's truly hard is Echoes. Prime 1 and Corruption feel a bit harder, but not to the extremes of Dark Souls.
Last time I played it was on 2023 when I got it on the Wii U Virtual Console before the system's eShop closure. It is not the best in the series by a long shot, but it is still a time I enjoy whenever I play it.
The music that plays on Vim Factory, the whole Toad Town/Star Road area, the interior of Thwomp Volcano and the Elder Princess Shroob battle theme have stayed with me all these years since I played it for the first time in 2011.
@mattesdude and then if you have amiibo-centric games, people still moan. It's like they don't know what they want Nintendo to do with amiibo (and yes, their immediate answer will probably be to quit the brand).
Like I've said many times in the past, all this time I've been getting amiibo as collectibles of my characters and of those that would otherwise probably wouldn't get anything such as Dr. Mario, Captain Falcon, Biker Wario or Chibi-Robo. And to me, Samus on VI-O-La as well as Sylux fit that bill. Maybe the former will eventually get a Figma, though.
Wonder what this means for Bandai Namco. As in, how this will affect their operations. Despite not having many games listed on their website, I'm pretty sure I've seen the name Bandai Namco Studios Singapore in other games.
@batmanbud2 Yep, Of Myth and Monster had its first Japanese release in 2012, I believe, via the 3DS Virtual Console.
Curious how I was thinking about Battletoads today a few hours ago. And then out of nowhere here's the NES version. Kind of wish they also had the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis version in there as well.
Anyway. It's worth mentioning that, outside the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis app, the NES/FC and GB are the only NSO apps still branded as "Nintendo Switch Online" as opposed to "Nintendo Classics", so hopefully this update rebrands them and adds button mapping to those systems as well as the GB Startup BIOS.
EDIT: It did update the NES/FC app to Nintendo Classics with button mapping, so I'm gonna guess it will be the same for the GB one.
Not sure I'd call Kirby niche by now, maybe back when the original Air Ride released. I'm gonna say his transition to non-niche started either with Kirby Super Star Ultra back in 2008 or in 2012 with the overall Kirby's 20th Anniversary. To my knowledge, he's been a bit more in the public eye in Japan thanks to the anime, the manga and some merchandise that predates the years I mentioned.
Though I agree that, just like the original, Air Riders is indeed a niche spin-off that you probably have to develop the taste for.
@KingMike Oh, really? I legit have no idea there was a preference for SFII Turbo. I meant superior as in "it has Cammy, Fei Long, T. Hawk and Dee Jay".I always appreciate when they show up.
@Potimarron Then I'm ready to get stoned. And yes, that sounds wrong in another context. I apologize.
The only thing I'd change from the American box is the mention of F-Zero for either Mega Man X, EarthBound, Kirby Super Star or Super Mario RPG. However, my vote goes to Japan for how clean it is compared to the western box arts.
When it comes to the games included, I feel the western ones are superior to the Japanese one. Of the five games that are different between regions, I only envy Japan having Panel de Pon and Goemon, but at the same time the western minis have EarthBound, Super Punch-Out!!, Super Castlevania IV and Kirby's Dream Course and the Japanese one doesn't. With that said, whose idea was to give the west Street Fighter II Turbo and Japan the superior Super Street Fighter II?
Finishing Amanda The Adventurer 2 (Switch version), it's not very lomg but I've been a little bit busy.
Some Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, working on clearing all the games with everyone. If not, it's casual Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 for me.
Try to figure out how to win the Alena Tour in Itadaki Street DS without losing my mind. I haven't retried in a while because after 5 tries and all of them at the doors of victory, Alena somehow manages to swipe victory from my hands.
If I'm in the mood, in the next 2 weeks I'll do some playthroughs of Metroid Prime 1-3 and Hunters in preparation of Prime 4. I wish I also had Federation Force (yes, really) to also include it on said playthroughs.
Going for a physical Switch 2 Edition myself. But like I said in the past, if I ever encounter a well-priced Switch 1 copy, I'd gladly have both in my collection.
During El Buen Fin (Mexico's Black Friday), I saw a brand new copy of Pokemon Legends: Z-A NS2 Edition for 1200 Mexican Pesos, I was tempted to get it but getting MP4 is my absolute priority right now, gaming-wise. For Mexican prices I feel that was a good one for a recent Nintendo-published game.
Also, I completely forgot about it, but how many Picross games there will be on Switch (and now Switch 2) by the time these come out?
Give me a second and I'll retrieve the ongoing list.
EDIT: According to my previouscomments and depending on how you look at it, there will be 22 or 31 Picross games on Switch.
Picross S1-9
Picross S+ (contains the puzzles and music from Picross e1-9 on the 3DS and then some; the initial purchase of Picross S+ has Picross e1, the rest are available as DLC and also marks the first international release of Picross e9)
Picross X: Picbits vs. Uzboross
Picross -Logiart Grimoire- (originally released on Steam as an Early Access game as Logiart Grimoire)
Picross S Genesis/Mega Drive & Master System/Mark III Edition (SEGA themed)
Picross S Namco Legendary Edition
Picross S Capcom Classics Edition
Picross S SNK Classics and NEOGEO Edition
Kemono Friends Picross
Picross: Lord of the Nazarick (Overlord themed)
Picross: Records of the Shield Hero (The Rising of the Shield Hero themed)
Picross S Doraemon & F Characters Edition (Fujiko F Fujio themed)
Mario's Super Picross (via NSO), now with mouse support, as in the original SFC version.
Mario's Picross (via NSO)
It goes without saying that there are now more Picross games on Switch/Switch 2 than there were on the 3DS, and that's including Picross DS, Picross 3D, Picross 3D: Round 2 as well as the Virtual Console versions of Mario's Picross and Mario's Super Picross.
I'm gonna say this as a Picross fan; with the amount of games there are, it's probably best to stick to the branded ones that appeal to you, the Picross e9 DLC in S+, Picross X, Logiart Grimoire and maybe the occassional S game.
One day I'll get the grand total of puzzles between different games.
Since even I was questioning my original comment of past Picross S games getting touch controls updates, I can now confirm that they indeed updated those games.
Picross S, the very first game from 2017, had them when I booted it up to confirm. Back when I got it in 2020 it didn't have them. Neither did the SEGA edition at launch.
The best way to know if a Picross game has touch controls is if on the menus there's an arrow pointing to the left, it indicates "Back" on said menus and only works on non-docked modes.
In fact, I may still be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Jupiter has been consistent in retroactively updating past games with the new features of more recent entries. If that's the case, I'm also expecting them to add mouse controls to past games eventually.
If I remember correctly, the moment they (re)introduced touch controls, they went back and updated past Picross S games so they also had touch controls.
We only need Marvel and Tatsunoko in there to have all the companies Capcom has had Vs./X installments with, there's already SEGA and Namco in Picross form (even if those don't necessarily include the characters from said Vs./X installments).
There better be puzzles of Dr. Wily begging, Bass, Blanka, Red Arremer, Blue Mary, Tizoc, Duck King and Nakoruru.
Too bad it doesn't include licensed games. I'd love to have puzzles based on The Magical Quest series and DuckTales.
As a kid, I didn't know better, but now that I played both games as an adult, I see how dark Tooie really is and how both games in some instances are gore for kids, so maybe that CERO B rating (12 and up) for both games in Japan is not much of a stretch.
I have to wonder if unconciously that darkness played a part in Tooie being my favorite N64 game, a sentiment that I still stand by after my playthrough of the NSO version.
I'm a bit lost here. How many Momotaro Dentetsu games have been released since the series came back in 2016? And yes, that's also including the unrelated Billion Road.
Is he seriously using a Roblox game as a counter-argument?
Look, I've said in the past that I believe AI can have benefits as long as there's the proper human input to the generated results, and I still stand by that. But if your entire pitch is "it's AI generated (no human input)", kindly get the hey out.
I'm gonna vote Europe for showing where gameplay takes place. The caption above the Japanese logo kinda ruins it for me, it looks like something you'd see on printed ads.
With that said, neither box art makes justice to the name Inazuma Eleven
There are thirteen characters in the European cover, and the Japanese one should be called Inazuma Two.
Anyway, why these weren't released in America again? Was it because Level-5/NoA think the only sports in the USA (i.e. not the entirety of America) are baseball, football and basketball?
These might as well could be unique characters and not necessarily Pokémon, kind of like Bonsly and Munchlax in Pokémon XD or that Dialga with orange accents from one of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th December (North America)
Not this week either, but Metroid Prime 4: Beyond before the year ends. Finally, 8 years of wait are finally over, just a little bit longer for me.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: Walkthrough, All Collectibles, Tips & Tricks
@canaryfarmer that actually gave me a much needed chuckle. Thanks a lot.
Re: Japanese Charts: Well, Look At Who's Snuck Back Into First Place
Quite the difference between top selling hardware and #2, isn't it?
Press F in respect for those 172 souls who bought an Xbox, unless they legit wanted one.
We'll see next week how Metroid Prime 4: Beyond fares in Japan, a territory where Metroid is even more niche than it already is in the west.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: Walkthrough, All Collectibles, Tips & Tricks
My biggest question about this game: Does Samus unmask herself, revealing her face, or show up in the Zero Suit in this game?
No spoilers, please. Just answer yes or no.
Re: Nintendo Reveals New Line Of Metroid Merch, And We Want It All
I love how the exterior of the Metroid Gadget Organiser Case is based on the Power Suit while the interior is based on the Zero Suit.
Re: Nintendo Music "Special Release" Adds Seven Tracks From Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
