Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

HammerGalladeBro

About Echoes vs. Dark Echoes. Maybe I'm misremembering but the only instances of "Echoes" being mentioned in-game are the Echo Visor and Dark Samus' Dark Echoes (aka her clones).

So, I'm assuming the Japanese subtitle is referencing Dark Samus indirectly?

Also, am I crazy or you can see Samus' eyes on the Japanese cover?

EDIT:
@Zeugziumy as far as I know, the Japanese cover, be it the GC original or the Wii variants, isn't shiny.

Re: Sakurai Confirms Day One Update For Kirby Air Riders On Switch 2

HammerGalladeBro

Meh. As someone who favors physical over digital, it's not worth making a fuss if it's just for online and local-play. The former will eventually die and the latter won't be lost thanks to the aforementioned method of updating via "Match Version with Local User". Not many talk about this feature when discussing patches getting lost when an online service would eventually come to an end.
In fact, I'd go as far as to say that even if there is gameplay content on the update, even that won't be completely lost when the servers go down thanks to said feature because they're part of an update and not DLC you get from the eShop. If it were, yeah that would be lost forever, but it isn't.

With that said, if there is actual gameplay content on that Day 1 patch, then I might wait to see if they do a 2nd print with that content on the cart.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

@EarthboundBenjy the funny thing is that they actually updated the info for the reverse cover of the Japan-only Wii de Asobu (New Play Control!) release.

However, the regular Wii de Asobu cover still has the Gamecube info.

Anyway, if the western cover didn't have the Visor HUD and aim, I probably would've voted that, but really I just prefer the Japanese cover as it has more of a ligh-dark focus on Samus, whereas the western cover is more like "Samus gets sucked in in the middle of the conflict between the Luminoth and the Ing".

And I'm sorry, with that name. I cannot take the enemy race seriously, as Ing is the abbreviation of "Ingeniero", the Spanish of Engineer. My mind always thinks "Estoy peleando con los Ingenieros" (I'm battling the Engineers).

Itadaki Street DS
I finally understand what the CPUs are doing and now I've made some major progress. I cleared the Slime and Yoshi Tours by pure luck, but the Platypunk and Luigi Tours I had to understand what was happening, and thankfully I did.

I'm currently in the middle of the Alena and Wario Tours.
Alena Tour: Cleared Mt. Magmaggedon and unlocked it and Daisy.
Wario Tour: Cleared Mario Stadium and unlocked it and Carver from DQVI.

Clearing what's left of those Tours will unlock Slimenia, Bianca from DQV, Delfino Plaza and Waluigi.

I promise, if I manage to clear the entirety of Tour Mode in Itadaki Street DS (so far I've cleared 4/10 Tours, almost 6/10), I will finally give Fortune Street on the Wii its overdue chance.
My understanding is that the last 2 Tours are more or less duels against Dragonlord from DQI and Bowser on a single board each.

Re: Sakurai Has No Plans For Kirby Air Riders DLC: "Everything Is Here"

HammerGalladeBro

I'm fine with this not being an ongoing series, I don't really need the charm of this and the original to eventually drift away (no pun intended).

Not sure about how I feel about the lack of DLC, though.
On the one hand, I'm glad they deliver everything* at launch.
But on the other hand, what if my girls, Adeleine and Ribbon, and other favorites of mine such as Bonkers or Mr. Frost don't make it into the game?

*save for that day 1 patch on physical copies, a minor inconvinience, if I'm totally honest. That probably means the game had gone gold by the time they wanted to implement whatever is included in said patch.

Re: Japanese Charts: Surprise, Surprise, Pokémon Legends: Z-A Leaves The Competition In The Dust

HammerGalladeBro

@Bobb nobody talks about those merits, and if you do, you have lower standards than the average gamer. At least that's the narrative everyone is pushing. Either that or they're obsessed with wasting their time on wall textures, Mega Starmie or *Emma's )).

Anyway, My holiday 2025 game will be Metroid Prime 4, but I'm considering making space for Legends Z-A. However I still need to play Legends: Arceus.

*Ummm, can I do that? If not, let me know and I'll gladly edit my comment.

Re: Kirby Air Riders 'Global Test Ride' Demo Kicks Off Next Month

HammerGalladeBro

If I had a Switch 2, of course I wouldn't hesitate to try Air Riders before launch.
Can we expect a Global Test Smash for a future Smash Bros.?

Now, it wasn't mentioned, but with the Air Ride courses, can we expect to see the Top Ride courses as well? Probably not if past Sakurai showings are anything to go by.

Slightly off-topic: I love how the 2nd batch of Kirby Air Riders in Nintendo Music added the original versions of City Trial and The Legendary Air Ride Machine.
Makes me hopeful they can add the songs from the original game that were sourced from the anime, such as Dyna Blade Intro (Destruction! Nightmare's Giant Fortress) or Checker Knights (Strong Star Warrior).

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week With A Spooky Classic

HammerGalladeBro

As mentioned, play the PAL version for the true Hidden Mansion, which is akin to Hero Mode in Zelda games. Or at least that's how I understand it.

Since I have the NTSC version, I've never played it, but apparently Luigi can ride the Poltergust 3000 during the Boolossus fight.

The idea of being able to play the true Hidden Mansion alone makes me excited to play Luigi's Mansion by the time I get a Switch 2, nevermind the fact that this year I got another GC copy after my original one was...shall we say, lost?

Re: Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective Digital Sample Available For Free

HammerGalladeBro

I wasn't planning to get it, but I've change my mind after seeing concept art that, to my recollection, is brand new, such as the Zero Suit one, with the added bonus of a brand new artwork for Metroid: Zero Mission and what is essentially the original image used for the Samus silouette in the Japanese boxart, although edited foe the concept art.

Hopefully it is not hard to get here in Mexico.

Re: Can You Name These NES Games From The Mangled Box Art?

HammerGalladeBro

To the surprise of some, there were official SEGA games on the Famicom via other companies such as Sunsoft or Tokuma Shoten as well as some dubious (as in not official) ports by Tengen on the NES.

Officially there's After Burner, Altered Beast, Space Harrier, Alien Syndrome, Fantasy Zone I and II and Puyo Puyo (before it became a SEGA IP). Nowaday with SEGA Sammy, VICE: Project Doom is now considered a SEGA game on the NES, at least going by the NSO publisher.

Re: Nintendo's Trademarking 'Virtual Console' Again, But Don't Get Your Hopes Up

HammerGalladeBro

At this point in time, I'll stick with NSO for the most part.
But of course, if I'm given a chance to get the 3 Tetris games available on NSO, Kirby Tilt n Tumble, the Rare games (Rare Replay or not), Mario Paint, Mario & Wario and the Pokémon Stadiums, I'd gladly pay for those.

I'd welcome it if that's how we get the classic Pokémon versions, but I've reached a point where I don't really care about the series anymore (and no, the games and their performance have nothing to do with it, I simply stopped playing them due to lack of hardware that by the time I got the systems, I wasn't gonna play catch-up with what I missed)

Re: Football Manager Signs With FIFA In New "Multi-Year Partnership"

HammerGalladeBro

LMAO I don't know why I find this funny. Imagine if you get Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo via lootbox, microtransactions or whatever. Only to find out that it's to manage their teams and not actually playing as them.

I know Football Manager has fans of its own, but I can see some FIFA fans thinking this is the actual new FIFA after EA stopped calling their games FIFA.

Re: Sakurai Is Getting His Very Own Manga Biography

HammerGalladeBro

@Late beyond those 3 series plus Kid Icarus: Uprising, I think Sakurai once mentioned that prior to Meteos he did some supervising and consulting work in some games but opted to not have his name in the credits as people might erroneously think they were his games the same ways as Smash.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles

HammerGalladeBro

@Suketoudara @KingMike
Thanks for the tips. I found out that gliding is the Y button while midair. Since every face button is Jump, might as well remap Y to A or B since those are the buttons I use the most to jump.

Anything else we Bubsy newcomers should know? Other than "Don't play it".

@Riff-the-Don Best luck finding the mouse that suits your and your son's needs the best.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th October)

HammerGalladeBro

This weekend I'm free from general occupations, so my time will be spent on some casual matches in Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics.

For something more serious, I'm also playing Itadaki Street DS. I thought my time in Fortune Street would have helped me get the gist of the game, but apparently I still suck, so I'm gonna let the CPUs play some boards while I simply observe. Thankfully for human players there is an auto-play option, but it doesn't guarantee that you'll get results as good as CPUs.

I hope that doing that at least helps me understand what I'm doing wrong, other than the dice being against me.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles

HammerGalladeBro

@Riff-the-Don The lack of drivers for USB mice on the Switch is indeed mentioned in Q Remastered. So the advice is correct, look for a plug and play one.

That game also states that wireless mice with a USB receiver can be used, but for whatever reason mine doesn't work with the Switch.
As a matter of fact, I also have a generic wireless keyboard with a trackpad that can also serve as a wireless mouse; the keyboard part works on the Switch (and the Wii U, actually), but not the mouse one.

Both of my USB mice and the wireless keyboard are indeed plug and play, I actually bought them not knowing if they were PnP or not.

The wired mouse costed me about 35-40 Mexican Pesos, which should be $2 at most, the wireless one I believe was 100 Pesos (around $5).
That wireless keyboard was 250 Mexican Pesos (about $12.50), but I'm sure it can be found much cheaper than that.

It's a shame the trackpad of the wireless keyboard doesn't work, that would be the closest to a literal "mouse controller" for mouse-only games.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles

HammerGalladeBro

@Riff-the-Don I haven't seen any articles about "Best Mice* for Nintendo Switch" here in NL, I have a cheap Mexican store-brand one that I use exclusively for the Switch and it does the job pretty well. I originally got it for Q Remastered, but now I only use it for Mario Paint and now Mario & Wario.
I also have a wireless one via a receiver, but unfortunately that one doesn't work with the Switch.

*Is that the plural for "computer mouse"?

Re: It's Official, Minecraft Is Getting A Second Live-Action Movie

HammerGalladeBro

Watched the first first movie via streaming with my family, I think that was the best way I could've watched it.
For me it was just the usual Jack Black st, not really my kind of entertainment.

With that said, it was good quality time with the family when I watched it (not for the movie itself, at least not for me), so if the second movie can do the same, I'm all for it.
