Last time I played it was on 2023 when I got it on the Wii U Virtual Console before the system's eShop closure. It is not the best in the series by a long shot, but it is still a time I enjoy whenever I play it.

The music that plays on Vim Factory, the whole Toad Town/Star Road area, the interior of Thwomp Volcano and the Elder Princess Shroob battle theme have stayed with me all these years since I played it for the first time in 2011.

@mattesdude and then if you have amiibo-centric games, people still moan. It's like they don't know what they want Nintendo to do with amiibo (and yes, their immediate answer will probably be to quit the brand).

Like I've said many times in the past, all this time I've been getting amiibo as collectibles of my favorite characters and of those that would otherwise probably wouldn't get anything such as Dr. Mario, Captain Falcon, Biker Wario or Chibi-Robo. And to me, Samus on VI-O-La as well as Sylux fit that bill. Maybe the former will eventually get a Figma, though.

@batmanbud2 Yep, Of Myth and Monster had its first Japanese release in 2012, I believe, via the 3DS Virtual Console.

Curious how I was thinking about Battletoads today a few hours ago. And then out of nowhere here's the NES version. Kind of wish they also had the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis version in there as well.

Anyway. It's worth mentioning that, outside the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis app, the NES/FC and GB are the only NSO apps still branded as "Nintendo Switch Online" as opposed to "Nintendo Classics", so hopefully this update rebrands them and adds button mapping to those systems as well as the GB Startup BIOS.

EDIT: It did update the NES/FC app to Nintendo Classics with button mapping, so I'm gonna guess it will be the same for the GB one.

Not sure I'd call Kirby niche by now, maybe back when the original Air Ride released. I'm gonna say his transition to non-niche started either with Kirby Super Star Ultra back in 2008 or in 2012 with the overall Kirby's 20th Anniversary. To my knowledge, he's been a bit more in the public eye in Japan thanks to the anime, the manga and some merchandise that predates the years I mentioned.

Though I agree that, just like the original, Air Riders is indeed a niche spin-off that you probably have to develop the taste for.

The only thing I'd change from the American box is the mention of F-Zero for either Mega Man X, EarthBound, Kirby Super Star or Super Mario RPG.
However, my vote goes to Japan for how clean it is compared to the western box arts.

When it comes to the games included, I feel the western ones are superior to the Japanese one. Of the five games that are different between regions, I only envy Japan having Panel de Pon and Goemon, but at the same time the western minis have EarthBound, Super Punch-Out!!, Super Castlevania IV and Kirby's Dream Course and the Japanese one doesn't.
With that said, whose idea was to give the west Street Fighter II Turbo and Japan the superior Super Street Fighter II?

For me it will be

Finishing Amanda The Adventurer 2 (Switch version), it's not very lomg but I've been a little bit busy.

Some Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, working on clearing all the games with everyone. If not, it's casual Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 for me.

Try to figure out how to win the Alena Tour in Itadaki Street DS without losing my mind. I haven't retried in a while because after 5 tries and all of them at the doors of victory, Alena somehow manages to swipe victory from my hands.

If I'm in the mood, in the next 2 weeks I'll do some playthroughs of Metroid Prime 1-3 and Hunters in preparation of Prime 4. I wish I also had Federation Force (yes, really) to also include it on said playthroughs.

Going for a physical Switch 2 Edition myself. But like I said in the past, if I ever encounter a well-priced Switch 1 copy, I'd gladly have both in my collection.

During El Buen Fin (Mexico's Black Friday), I saw a brand new copy of Pokemon Legends: Z-A NS2 Edition for 1200 Mexican Pesos, I was tempted to get it but getting MP4 is my absolute priority right now, gaming-wise.
For Mexican prices I feel that was a good one for a recent Nintendo-published game.

It goes without saying that there are now more Picross games on Switch/Switch 2 than there were on the 3DS, and that's including Picross DS, Picross 3D, Picross 3D: Round 2 as well as the Virtual Console versions of Mario's Picross and Mario's Super Picross.

I'm gonna say this as a Picross fan; with the amount of games there are, it's probably best to stick to the branded ones that appeal to you, the Picross e9 DLC in S+, Picross X, Logiart Grimoire and maybe the occassional S game.
One day I'll get the grand total of puzzles between different games.

Since even I was questioning my original comment of past Picross S games getting touch controls updates, I can now confirm that they indeed updated those games.

Picross S, the very first game from 2017, had them when I booted it up to confirm. Back when I got it in 2020 it didn't have them. Neither did the SEGA edition at launch.

The best way to know if a Picross game has touch controls is if on the menus there's an arrow pointing to the left, it indicates "Back" on said menus and only works on non-docked modes.

In fact, I may still be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Jupiter has been consistent in retroactively updating past games with the new features of more recent entries. If that's the case, I'm also expecting them to add mouse controls to past games eventually.

We only need Marvel and Tatsunoko in there to have all the companies Capcom has had Vs./X installments with, there's already SEGA and Namco in Picross form (even if those don't necessarily include the characters from said Vs./X installments).

There better be puzzles of Dr. Wily begging, Bass, Blanka, Red Arremer, Blue Mary, Tizoc, Duck King and Nakoruru.
Too bad it doesn't include licensed games. I'd love to have puzzles based on The Magical Quest series and DuckTales.

As a kid, I didn't know better, but now that I played both games as an adult, I see how dark Tooie really is and how both games in some instances are gore for kids, so maybe that CERO B rating (12 and up) for both games in Japan is not much of a stretch.

I have to wonder if unconciously that darkness played a part in Tooie being my favorite N64 game, a sentiment that I still stand by after my playthrough of the NSO version.

I'm gonna vote Europe for showing where gameplay takes place. The caption above the Japanese logo kinda ruins it for me, it looks like something you'd see on printed ads.

With that said, neither box art makes justice to the name Inazuma Eleven
There are thirteen characters in the European cover, and the Japanese one should be called Inazuma Two.

Anyway, why these weren't released in America again? Was it because Level-5/NoA think the only sports in the USA (i.e. not the entirety of America) are baseball, football and basketball?

Before I make a general comment about Nintendo using Game-Key Cards, I would need to see them using them on Mario in general, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Smash Bros. or even Xenoblade.

Pokémon? It is in a weird position and at this point, I'm convinced TPC gets the final say that overrules Nintendo's for everything Pokémon, at least when it comes to the games.

It is a cool stunt, I won't deny that. But when everyone does it, it gets old really quick for me unless they do it differently (such as Shadow doing it vertically outside a building) or the slide has an actual purpose (an attack in Samus' case).

Edit/Side note: Of all the characters shown doing the slide, one that I'm surprised hasn't done it is Mach Rider. I know the game predates the movie, but not even fan arts of her doing it exist.
