Re: FBI Shares Official Statement After Seizure Of Major Switch ROM Site

HammerGalladeBro

Here's my take on piracy on my specific case.

I can see the effects of games on companies, I'll leave it at that. I personally couldn't care less about pirates pirating games, however I believe there's a collateral effect that somewhat affects me when it comes to availability.

I live in a small capital city on the north of Mexico where finding current Switch games (and PS4/5 and Xbox games for that matter) is not that hard. However, if you're looking for games for the Wii U , 3DS and older systems you're not gonna find anything, all because people don't sell them, instead they offer hacked systems and they explicitly state they "allow you to add more games for free"...and those sellers are strangely proud of it, promoting them on Facebook reels and the like.
One of them even says "Are games too expensive?"

Keep in mind, even if you're buying honest second-hand Switch games (as in not copied for piracy reasons), they're still within an accessible price range unless it is a special edition of sorts.

Unfortunately because most of what you see are hacked/chipped Wiis, Wii Us, 3DSs and even Switch systems, it's hard to even have a chance to buy second-hand games over here. And when you do find something, you have to be quick because it may not pop-up again in a while.

In short: In my specific area, I believe that lack of availability of certain games is because people are opting for modded systems with pirated games.

With that said, I agree there are other, more important things the FBI should investigate, at least I want to believe another division is doing that.
But, hey, who am I to say that? My goverment is a joke when it comes to investigating.

Re: Sakurai Gives An Update On 'Kirby Air Riders' And Pays Tribute To Iwata

HammerGalladeBro

Man, it's hard to believe that Iwata left us 10 years ago. it really feels like it happened not too long ago.

More than ever, we need more CEOs like him. For all his "apparent faults" during his time, we can all agree that he saw and treated his employees as the human beings they are and not as disposable tools.

As for Kirby Air Riders, the only thing I really hope is more playable characters other than just Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede. At the very least I'd like to see Bandana Waddle Dee, Adeleine and Magolor.
I don't know how much time it has been in development, but what are the chances of making it an racing-adventure game, kind of like Diddy Kong Racing?

Re: "That's Some Real Coward S***" - Hideki Kamiya Discusses The Fallout From The Bayonetta 3 Voiceover Controversy

HammerGalladeBro

@OwenGamer22 Not really unless you use said language.

I don't follow Mexican dub actors, but I know there's some controversy regarding the Latin American Spanish dub of Shrek 5, with Alfonso Obregón (Shrek's dub actor) demanding Dreamworks the same royalties as Mike Myers, or something to that extend.
At the same time, Eugenio Derbez (Donkey's dub actor) has said that Dreamworks wants him to nerf his dialogues to make them neutral Spanish. In the Latin American Spanish dub, Donkey uses a lot of Mexican expressions and forms of speaking, known as Mexicanismos.

This is not exclusive to Shrek, a lot of movies, cartoons or series dubbed in Mexico have Mexicanismos. Best examples in recent times would be Chowder and the first seasons of Adventure Time. Chowder even has the meme song "Quiero un mundo de michelada" in one episode, which was popular in Mexico in the late 2000s/early 2010s, I don't know how popular it was outside Mexico. My personal favorite is Captain Tsubasa and how Tsubasa/Oliver Atom was saved by the Guadalupe's Virgin in our dub.
These days, I believe the clients (the original production houses) demand dubs to be as neutral as possible.

However in Donkey's/Derbez's case, some people say he has the funniest dialogues in the movies due to the Mexicanismos, but I've read that the mastermind behind those dialogues was the late Gus Rodríguez. Yes, the same Gus Rodríguez who was heavily associated with Nintendo in Mexico in the 90s, one of the men behind the Mexican magazine Club Nintendo and regarded as one of the pioneers of gaming in Mexico and the whole Latin America.

Thankfully, neither Obregon nor Derbez have resorted to the tactics of Hellena Taylor, at least that I know.

Re: Blurred Art In Nintendo's N64 Switch Online Trailer Suggests Exciting Upcoming Additions

HammerGalladeBro

@TYRANACLES On the Wii U Virtual Console, I can confirm Donkey Kong 64 had both Donkey Kong and Jetpack as they were originally seen on the N64 release.
However, I believe the Donkey Kong arcade game in Donkey Kong 64 is not 1:1 to the arcade original; it seems to use the pallete of the NES version (look at the platforms in 25m and 75m, they're red instead of pink) and the steps of Mario sound different. Also, I know Jetpack has a title screen but for some reason it doesn't on Donkey Kong 64.

Excitebike 64 on the Wii U VC also had the NES Excitebike.

While we're at it, I can confirm Metroid: Zero Mission also included the original Metroid (based on the NES version in all the releases of Zero Mission), but not the Metroid Fusion gallery, and Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures had Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. In the case of Pac-Man 2, I believe the idea that Ms. Pac-Man (both the game and the character) is the reason we haven't seen it re-released.

Re: PSA: You Can Play One Of The Greatest Platformers Of All Time In Street Fighter 6

HammerGalladeBro

Got Mega Man 2-7 in 2022 as part of my final Wii U eShop purchases, had MM1 since 2014.
I have to say 2 is a solid game, worthy of it recogition, but I personally prefer 4 over 2, but overall my favorite of the classic Mega Man games is 7 for some reason. It blew my mind how well it plays and sounds considering the devs apparently only had 3 months to make it. Honestly the only part that feels rushed/unbalanced is the final Dr. Wily Machine.

Overall, I'd rank them like 7-4-2-3-1-6-5. Even if Mega Man 5 is my least favorite, it's still a good game.

Got Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 on Switch to play the rest of the mainline classic Mega Man games but for some reason I haven't yet.

Re: Switch 2 Dock Supports VRR After All, But It Doesn't Actually Work With Console

HammerGalladeBro

Admittedly I don't have a VRR TV so it wouldn't matter to me.

I'm not trying to spin this, I'm just assessing the situation from every possible outcome.
My guess about the confusing messaging is they probably wanted docked VRR out of the gate but couldn't, yet they wanted/needed to let people know that docked VRR is possible.

If they hadn't said anything about docked VRR, people would've been like "F U GIMME MAH VRR ON DOCK NOW. F HANDHELD". Let's be honest, if Welcome Tour and the pricing discourse is anything to go by, that would've been the loudest reaction.
This same reaction most likely would've had happened if they hadn't said anything about VRR in general and left it as a surprise.

If they were transparent and said docked VRR was possible but wasn't ready for launch, the reaction would've been more or less the same as in this comment section, only more aggressive.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 13.0.4 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

HammerGalladeBro

@Pod To add to your comment on what Smash 4 did better than Ultimate, it gave us new stages for Star Fox, Metroid (one that's not acid/lava hazard) and Donkey Kong. All of which that should've returned in Ultimate.

It also didn't ruin the Super Mario World music. Let me explain.
In Ultimate, due to the possibility of playing all the songs of a series in any stage of it, now the only Super Mario World song that plays in Yoshi's Island (Melee), a Yoshi series stage, is Athletic Theme, every other SMW song in the game is associated to the Mario series.

That and also for the music in the Other category. Some of the music I miss in certain stages include the Tetris music in Luigi's Mansion, the Final Boss song from Golden Sun: The Lost Age in Norfair, the final boss of The Wonderful 101 in Mario Galaxy, Mach Rider in F-Zero stages, Chill (for) from Dr. Mario in 75m, Tomorrow's Passion from Captain Rainbow (a song associated to Little Mac) in Boxing RIng.

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Developer Has Been Revealed

HammerGalladeBro

@N00BiSH It's sad to see people still have the "Nintendo Has FORGOTTEN About Mario..." belief just becau(s)e we're getting a new (overdue) 3D Donkey Kong over 3D Mario.

A 3D Mario will come eventually, can't they let DK enjoy some glory? Or is it because they're secretly still angry about the redesign?

EDIT: However the belief I have is that my keyboard hates me, always FORGETTING to insert the letters I type or giving me different letters.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week

HammerGalladeBro

My guess for the lack of Donkey Kong 64 is because they're figuring out a way to fix the weird widescreen it had to make it full widescreen, a la GoldenEye 007, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark and Banjo-Tooie.

The game has native widescreen, but it only seems to work on cutscenes and areas where a cinematic plays (when you see the black bars), but not during gameplay itself.

Re: EA Worker Pay Continues To Dwindle As CEO Picks Up $5 Million Bonus, Thus Creating Amusingly Tall Financial Graph

HammerGalladeBro

We need more CEOs like the exception that was Satoru Iwata.
Not only he was a programmer that had his CEO duties, but also accomodated some time to partake in skits on Nintendo Directs, do interviews with developers on Iwata Asks and, most importantly, he did listen to his workers and, if could, help programmers.

Heck, remember that Game Center CX mini-episode where Iwata goes to the GCCX game room to play some Balloon Fight? Arino was surprised he went to them to Tokyo instead of them going to him at Kyoto.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week

HammerGalladeBro

This is the second most aggresive Mario and friends have ever been, top spot is Mario Strikers Charged.

It still amazes me that Nintendo let Next Level Games get away with a few ideas seen here and in Charged. For all intends and purposes, this game should've been ESRB rated E10+ and not Battle League.

Seriously, don't sleep on Super just because Battle League disappointed you.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart World Speeds Past 1 Million Physical Sales

HammerGalladeBro

@tourjeff First-party Switch2 offerings for the future so far include Donkey Kong Bananza, Drag x Drive, Kirby Air Riders, and Splatoon Raiders plus the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions (which include major additions or enhancements over their switch 1 versions) of Super Mario Party Jamboree, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Metroid and Pokémon pending release on Switch 1 as well.

I'd include Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, but that one's not strictly 100% first-party, since Koei Tecmo will publish the game in Japan and Nintendo in the west, making it susceptible to the usual KT shenanigans. Still up in the air if it will be a full physical release or Game-Key Card.
Meanwhile, The Duskbloods will apparently be published by Nintendo in the west while FromSoftware will handle it in Japan.

Re: Another Yoshi Soundtrack Joins Nintendo Music, Here's Every Song Included

HammerGalladeBro

@Mana_Knight Not really the only time.

From what I remember, they also announce Nintendo (and sometimes other companies) in Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (though it's only 1 Yoshi), Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Power Tennis (I think also the GBA games announce it), Super Mario Strikers (funnily enough, in Mario Strikers Charged only Next Level Games gets announced), Super Princess Peach, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story, Luigi's Mansion, Doubutsu no Mori (the N64 release of Animal Crossing) and Animal Crossing.

Technically not "Nintendo", but in the Japanese versions of the Pokémon Stadium games, some kids announce "roku-yon" (sixty-four) on the N64 logo that appears when you boot them up. The international versions instad have Pikachu saying "Pika!"

EDIT:
In fact, I just remembered they also announce "Nintendo" in Panel de Pon and it's Western localization, Tetris Attack/Yoshi no Panepon.

Re: Sega Knows You Hate Mario Kart's Blue Shells

HammerGalladeBro

@The_Nintend_Pedant From what I remember, Blue Shell in Mario Kart 64 doesn't really target opponents other than the leader. But so happens that most of the off-screen opponents get hit by it, and by hit them I mean "hitting the brakes full stop for a brief moment, then countinue as if nothing happened, like every other item and obstacle that hits opponents off-screen". Now, CPUs never get Blue Shells here, and that's probably for the best given their rubberband AI.

Trust me, if Blue Shells behaved the same as Red Shells, they'd go slam to a wall for no reason. Try throwing one to an off-screen racer on Toad Turnpike and see what happens.

Blue Shells in Mario Kart 8 and 8 Deluxe don't target enemies either, but they travel along the track and can hit others, usually goes on the middle of the track, and only rises in the air when is about to hit its target.
Another thing I've seen about Blue Shells in MK8D is changing targets at the last minute. Like, I have a Blue Shell about to get over my head and then it goes to the racer that just a moment ago passed me.
