Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week

HammerGalladeBro

My guess for the lack of Donkey Kong 64 is because they're figuring out a way to fix the weird widescreen it had to make it full widescreen, a la GoldenEye 007, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark and Banjo-Tooie.

The game has native widescreen, but it only seems to work on cutscenes and areas where a cinematic plays (when you see the black bars), but not during gameplay itself.

Re: EA Worker Pay Continues To Dwindle As CEO Picks Up $5 Million Bonus, Thus Creating Amusingly Tall Financial Graph

HammerGalladeBro

We need more CEOs like the exception that was Satoru Iwata.
Not only he was a programmer that had his CEO duties, but also accomodated some time to partake in skits on Nintendo Directs, do interviews with developers on Iwata Asks and, most importantly, he did listen to his workers and, if could, help programmers.

Heck, remember that Game Center CX mini-episode where Iwata goes to the GCCX game room to play some Balloon Fight? Arino was surprised he went to them to Tokyo instead of them going to him at Kyoto.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week

HammerGalladeBro

This is the second most aggresive Mario and friends have ever been, top spot is Mario Strikers Charged.

It still amazes me that Nintendo let Next Level Games get away with a few ideas seen here and in Charged. For all intends and purposes, this game should've been ESRB rated E10+ and not Battle League.

Seriously, don't sleep on Super just because Battle League disappointed you.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart World Speeds Past 1 Million Physical Sales

HammerGalladeBro

@tourjeff First-party Switch2 offerings for the future so far include Donkey Kong Bananza, Drag x Drive, Kirby Air Riders, and Splatoon Raiders plus the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions (which include major additions or enhancements over their switch 1 versions) of Super Mario Party Jamboree, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Metroid and Pokémon pending release on Switch 1 as well.

I'd include Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, but that one's not strictly 100% first-party, since Koei Tecmo will publish the game in Japan and Nintendo in the west, making it susceptible to the usual KT shenanigans. Still up in the air if it will be a full physical release or Game-Key Card.
Meanwhile, The Duskbloods will apparently be published by Nintendo in the west while FromSoftware will handle it in Japan.

Re: Another Yoshi Soundtrack Joins Nintendo Music, Here's Every Song Included

HammerGalladeBro

@Mana_Knight Not really the only time.

From what I remember, they also announce Nintendo (and sometimes other companies) in Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (though it's only 1 Yoshi), Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Power Tennis (I think also the GBA games announce it), Super Mario Strikers (funnily enough, in Mario Strikers Charged only Next Level Games gets announced), Super Princess Peach, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story, Luigi's Mansion, Doubutsu no Mori (the N64 release of Animal Crossing) and Animal Crossing.

Technically not "Nintendo", but in the Japanese versions of the Pokémon Stadium games, some kids announce "roku-yon" (sixty-four) on the N64 logo that appears when you boot them up. The international versions instad have Pikachu saying "Pika!"

EDIT:
In fact, I just remembered they also announce "Nintendo" in Panel de Pon and it's Western localization, Tetris Attack/Yoshi no Panepon.

Re: Sega Knows You Hate Mario Kart's Blue Shells

HammerGalladeBro

@The_Nintend_Pedant From what I remember, Blue Shell in Mario Kart 64 doesn't really target opponents other than the leader. But so happens that most of the off-screen opponents get hit by it, and by hit them I mean "hitting the brakes full stop for a brief moment, then countinue as if nothing happened, like every other item and obstacle that hits opponents off-screen". Now, CPUs never get Blue Shells here, and that's probably for the best given their rubberband AI.

Trust me, if Blue Shells behaved the same as Red Shells, they'd go slam to a wall for no reason. Try throwing one to an off-screen racer on Toad Turnpike and see what happens.

Blue Shells in Mario Kart 8 and 8 Deluxe don't target enemies either, but they travel along the track and can hit others, usually goes on the middle of the track, and only rises in the air when is about to hit its target.
Another thing I've seen about Blue Shells in MK8D is changing targets at the last minute. Like, I have a Blue Shell about to get over my head and then it goes to the racer that just a moment ago passed me.

Re: The DK Rap Is Back In Donkey Kong Bananza, But Nobody Told Its Composer

HammerGalladeBro

@Fiergala

Does Koichi Sugiyama not deserve credit for using the Japanese-famous Dragon Quest theme that every game uses, because I'm pretty sure that man has been credited in every game that theme appears in. Y'know because it's a sign of respect.

It's not really for respect, as far as I know, he owns the Dragon Quest music the same way Nintendo owns most of the soundtrack of their games. Yes, there are exceptions where they don't fully own it (as proven by Smash Bros., where select songs from Xenoblade 2 and Ring a Ding and its Japanese variant, Ring! Dong! Dang!, from Style Savvy: Styling Star plus some others don't state "Composition Copyright Nintendo") or the rights are shared (such as F-ZERO GX/AX).

Well, Sugiyama owned the DQ music, but now that he's passed away I don't know if he has an estate that manages his music rights, I'm guessing he does because the music rights has been credited as SUGIYAMA KOBO for a while.

So in that case they do have to credit him.

Re: The DK Rap Is Back In Donkey Kong Bananza, But Nobody Told Its Composer

HammerGalladeBro

For someone who made the so-called "worst track in the history of rap tracks", he sure loves to have it treated as "the best song ever".

Why is it always Grant Kirkhope? I'm pretty sure Dave Wise's compositions from Donkey Kong Country have been used way more and more frequently, yet you don't see him complaining that he doesn't get credit.

Look, I love Grant's music, it's the reason I actually keep going back to Donkey Kong 64, but he needs to live and let die.

Now, if Ubisoft or Nintendo didn't credit him on the Mario + Rabbids games, he would have a case.

Re: Pauline's Age In Donkey Kong Bananza Has Been Revealed

HammerGalladeBro

I couldn't care less about DK's lore as long as the games themselves are fun, and so far they have been.

Though ever since Donkey Kong Country Returns, my headcanon is that just like seemingly there are multiple Yoshi's Island, there is at least more than 1 DK Island, each with their unique Kong family. Hence why DK Island looks like DK's head in the SNES games and Donkey Kong 64 but in the Returns duology looks completely different, complete with a volcano.

Now, about Pauline's age. I don't mind her being younger, but the makeup she wears on that costume unlocked by the amiibo might be a little too much for the age.

Re: Say Hello To Pauline In Donkey Kong Bananza

HammerGalladeBro

Somehow I'm not too enthusiastc about Pauline. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the character, but since Odyssey she has been nothing but that song, I kinda hope I don't hear it on Bananza (granted I haven't watched the Direct, saving it for later).

Other than that, I was already sold on this game. Getting the amiibo for sure, if only to have something with DK's new design on my shelf.

Re: Pokémon Fan Loses "20 Years Worth Of Data" After Performing Switch 2 Transfer

HammerGalladeBro

@Maxz More than Colosseum, I wanna see that possibility with Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

I remember a lot of Shadow Pokémon learn moves that they otherwise can't once they're purified. Examples include Rhydon with Helping Hand (a move a lot of Pokémon learn when purified), the legendary birds with Extrasensory and Lugia with Psycho Boost (Deoxys' signature move as of Gen 3).

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - An Elegant But Nonessential GameChat Companion

HammerGalladeBro

Like I said before, maybe my sister and I could do this to do some sort of Zoom video call if our mom is around.
Though the real reason I'd get one is if they use it for games, kind of like in Jamboree NS2 Edition.

My initial reaction to the camera was the same one as the Kinect. That it was made for WarioWare. If they ever make one where you use the camera Ill be on board, especially if it's called WarioWare: In Your Face!

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game Card Cases

HammerGalladeBro

I understand I'm in a minority here, but since I tend to game at home only (even for handhelds) I mostly take the small carts out of their boxes and put them on different empty Ferrero Rocher boxes and just take out whatever I feel like playing.

This is for games on the Game Boys, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS and Switch, with Switch 2 joining once I have games for it. Disc-based games are on their boxes and big carts (SNES and N64) are loose, but organized, hence why the lack of end labels on N64 games isn't a problem for me.

When I travel I just take the box of games whose system I intend to play while I'm not home.
