Just let me have a good Pokémon Maker* so I can enjoy whatever the game has to offer to someone that's not into the competitive scene. Restrict it only to this game if you must.
But I understand that would be easily exploitable by hackers at one point.
*Let me choose which Pokémon I want to use, which moves, which held items or if it Mega Evolves (or whatever mechanic is the flavour of the day, I honestly stopped playing before Gen 6 so I don't know the mechanics of Gen 8 and 9), a good stat balance according to the Lv. 100 standards of said Pokémon.
@shiningpikablu252 Now that you mention it, for something like Jump Super Stars and Jump Ultimate Stars, there's a minimum chance. As far as I know the music in those games is original and none-taking from the animes of the mangas represented, which means the music (and other elements of the game) are owned by Nintendo and Ganbarion.
Though in Jump Ultimate Stars, specific stages such as those from Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto or Saint Seiya have music meant to sound similar to that of the animes, but they're still original compositions.
They probably would just have to get a license from Shueisha to use the name JUMP and to show the characters and stages. But given they partially own the music, I imagine it wouldn't be much of a hassle to deal with the licenses. If Shueisha doesn't agree, at the very least they could negotiate to show only the box arts.
However, things like the Ouendan games and Elite Beat Agents are definitely out of the question unless they add only the original songs: Title Screens, Menus, Tutorials, Maps, Pre-Stage Custcenes, Stage Clears and Endings.
Between the 3 games, it would be about 24 songs in total.
Cannot check right now, but the Clu Clu Land music is only vanilla CCL or does it include the Arcade music? Which was then used for the Famicom Disk System release.
EDIT: Sadly it doesn't have the Clu Clu Land Disk System music. Similarly, Ice Climber doesn't have the music of the arcade/FDS music and it seems VS. Excitebike (the FDS version, the arcade original uses the NES/FC music) will be a separate listing.
I understand the Virtual Boy wasn't a good system for most people, but what is up with all the snark?
Anyway, my VB collection currently has Mario's Tennis, Galactic Pinball and Panic Bomber.
If I boot up the Virtual Boy, it's to hear the banger soundtrack of Galactic Pinball and maybe a playthrough of Panic Bomber in parts.
Obviously my eyes won't take a full playthrough of either of them, but I could try. I already have astigmatism, might as well let it develop while doing something I like.
@KingMike Mario Superstar Baseball (Super Mario Stadium: Miracle Baseball in Japan) was indeed released in Europe in 2005, it's the Wii follow-up the one that wasn't: Mario Super Sluggers (Super Mario Stadium: Family Baseball)
Unfortunately as a Wii Download Version on the Wii U it wasn't released in Europe either.
@darkswabber technically 3, he's also playable in Mario Super Sluggers, which has all the characters of Mario Superstar Baseball plus Wiggler, Blooper, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby Donkey Kong (yes, really), Funky Kong, Tiny Kong, Kritters and even King K. Rool.
The real surprise to me is that they helped with Mario Kart World. Not so much that they did for Donkey Kong Bananza.
As @N00BiSH pointed out, since Super Mario 3D Land they've been assisting the main team with 3D Marios, and given that Bananza was made by the Odyssey team, it's no surprise that 1-UP Studio was also involved, but I legit had no idea they did some work in Mario Kart World as well.
Latin American Spanish voice by Elizabeth Infante, aka Anya from Spy X Family.
I know she's voiced other characters, but that's the only one of her roles I've heard.
Wishful thinking: They're retiring Takashi Nagasako to let him rest to get ready to be the Japanese dub voice of Chadondorf in the live-action Zelda movie.
@ShieldHero Yes, people are forgetting that you could scan amiibo during gameplay to do other things, but to unlock the costumes you first have to talk to Uncle amiibo.
The amiibo implementation in Bananza doesn't sound any different than that of Odyssey.
@HistoricKombat Oh, don't worry about me. I know interior art is still a thing.
I was making fun of people going to retailers and opening "pre-order" boxes (you know, empty boxes with quick prints made by retailers to promote pre-orders) and deduced that Switch 2 games wouldn't have interior art and everyone believed it.
This guide doesn't answer the biggest question I have about NS2 Editions.
Can you play Nintendo Switch 2 Editions physical cartridges on a Switch 1 (minus the enhancements obviously), kind of like the black cartridge Game Boy Color games which are playable in DMG Game Boys?
@WheresWaveRace I'm currently playing Eternal Darkness, and one thing that popped in my mind. Is there a way they could use the Sanity Meter in something similar to the Wonder Flower of Mario Wonder? As in, the lower the sanity, the crazier the level gets.
I believe this time it includes more countries. Last time, NSO accounts from Mexico were not elegible to participate, but this time they do. Too bad that during half the period I'll be on vacation and God knows how good the internet will be where I go.
I unironically love the fact they added the same song 4 times.
@N00BiSH I imagine it's because the Japanese version has kids shouting "MARIO KAATO" instead of Mario saying "WELCOME TO MARIO KART".
Granted they could've listed it twice.
Similarly, instead of having Mario's voice on the menus, the Japanese version instead has, I believe, the announcer of Wave Race 64.
I can see the effects of games on companies, I'll leave it at that. I personally couldn't care less about pirates pirating games, however I believe there's a collateral effect that somewhat affects me when it comes to availability.
I live in a small capital city on the north of Mexico where finding current Switch games (and PS4/5 and Xbox games for that matter) is not that hard. However, if you're looking for games for the Wii U , 3DS and older systems you're not gonna find anything, all because people don't sell them, instead they offer hacked systems and they explicitly state they "allow you to add more games for free"...and those sellers are strangely proud of it, promoting them on Facebook reels and the like.
One of them even says "Are games too expensive?"
Keep in mind, even if you're buying honest second-hand Switch games (as in not copied for piracy reasons), they're still within an accessible price range unless it is a special edition of sorts.
Unfortunately because most of what you see are hacked/chipped Wiis, Wii Us, 3DSs and even Switch systems, it's hard to even have a chance to buy second-hand games over here. And when you do find something, you have to be quick because it may not pop-up again in a while.
In short: In my specific area, I believe that lack of availability of certain games is because people are opting for modded systems with pirated games.
With that said, I agree there are other, more important things the FBI should investigate, at least I want to believe another division is doing that.
But, hey, who am I to say that? My goverment is a joke when it comes to investigating.
Man, it's hard to believe that Iwata left us 10 years ago. it really feels like it happened not too long ago.
More than ever, we need more CEOs like him. For all his "apparent faults" during his time, we can all agree that he saw and treated his employees as the human beings they are and not as disposable tools.
As for Kirby Air Riders, the only thing I really hope is more playable characters other than just Kirby, Meta Knight and King Dedede. At the very least I'd like to see Bandana Waddle Dee, Adeleine and Magolor.
I don't know how much time it has been in development, but what are the chances of making it an racing-adventure game, kind of like Diddy Kong Racing?
I'm gonna say it really depends on the genre of each game and with what intentions each one is made.
It really doesn't bother me if a game is viewed as art or not, what matters to me is how much fun I get of each one I play.
I think @Mesozoic_Masquerade said it best: I love games for being games.
@OwenGamer22 Not really unless you use said language.
I don't follow Mexican dub actors, but I know there's some controversy regarding the Latin American Spanish dub of Shrek 5, with Alfonso Obregón (Shrek's dub actor) demanding Dreamworks the same royalties as Mike Myers, or something to that extend.
At the same time, Eugenio Derbez (Donkey's dub actor) has said that Dreamworks wants him to nerf his dialogues to make them neutral Spanish. In the Latin American Spanish dub, Donkey uses a lot of Mexican expressions and forms of speaking, known as Mexicanismos.
This is not exclusive to Shrek, a lot of movies, cartoons or series dubbed in Mexico have Mexicanismos. Best examples in recent times would be Chowder and the first seasons of Adventure Time. Chowder even has the meme song "Quiero un mundo de michelada" in one episode, which was popular in Mexico in the late 2000s/early 2010s, I don't know how popular it was outside Mexico. My personal favorite is Captain Tsubasa and how Tsubasa/Oliver Atom was saved by the Guadalupe's Virgin in our dub.
These days, I believe the clients (the original production houses) demand dubs to be as neutral as possible.
However in Donkey's/Derbez's case, some people say he has the funniest dialogues in the movies due to the Mexicanismos, but I've read that the mastermind behind those dialogues was the late Gus Rodríguez. Yes, the same Gus Rodríguez who was heavily associated with Nintendo in Mexico in the 90s, one of the men behind the Mexican magazine Club Nintendo and regarded as one of the pioneers of gaming in Mexico and the whole Latin America.
Thankfully, neither Obregon nor Derbez have resorted to the tactics of Hellena Taylor, at least that I know.
@SwitchplayerJohn For one reason or another, prior to the Switch 2 announcement, this game was constantly at the top page of the Japanese eShop. So I'm guessing there are new players every week, at least in Japan.
@TYRANACLES On the Wii U Virtual Console, I can confirm Donkey Kong 64 had both Donkey Kong and Jetpack as they were originally seen on the N64 release.
However, I believe the Donkey Kong arcade game in Donkey Kong 64 is not 1:1 to the arcade original; it seems to use the pallete of the NES version (look at the platforms in 25m and 75m, they're red instead of pink) and the steps of Mario sound different. Also, I know Jetpack has a title screen but for some reason it doesn't on Donkey Kong 64.
Excitebike 64 on the Wii U VC also had the NES Excitebike.
While we're at it, I can confirm Metroid: Zero Mission also included the original Metroid (based on the NES version in all the releases of Zero Mission), but not the Metroid Fusion gallery, and Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures had Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. In the case of Pac-Man 2, I believe the idea that Ms. Pac-Man (both the game and the character) is the reason we haven't seen it re-released.
I'd say Donkey Kong 64 should be added after Donkey Kong Bananza's launch. Otherwise it might run the risk of tiring people or having them assume Bananza is as tedious as DK 64, when in reality it seems more in line with Super Mario Odyssey.
Got Mega Man 2-7 in 2022 as part of my final Wii U eShop purchases, had MM1 since 2014.
I have to say 2 is a solid game, worthy of it recogition, but I personally prefer 4 over 2, but overall my favorite of the classic Mega Man games is 7 for some reason. It blew my mind how well it plays and sounds considering the devs apparently only had 3 months to make it. Honestly the only part that feels rushed/unbalanced is the final Dr. Wily Machine.
Overall, I'd rank them like 7-4-2-3-1-6-5. Even if Mega Man 5 is my least favorite, it's still a good game.
Got Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 on Switch to play the rest of the mainline classic Mega Man games but for some reason I haven't yet.
I'm not exaggerating when I say I haven't seen a single widescreen CRT TV in my entire life, at least not here in Mexico. That alone kind of defeats the purpose of even trying to use HD systems on a CRT TV.
Admittedly I don't have a VRR TV so it wouldn't matter to me.
I'm not trying to spin this, I'm just assessing the situation from every possible outcome.
My guess about the confusing messaging is they probably wanted docked VRR out of the gate but couldn't, yet they wanted/needed to let people know that docked VRR is possible.
If they hadn't said anything about docked VRR, people would've been like "F U GIMME MAH VRR ON DOCK NOW. F HANDHELD". Let's be honest, if Welcome Tour and the pricing discourse is anything to go by, that would've been the loudest reaction.
This same reaction most likely would've had happened if they hadn't said anything about VRR in general and left it as a surprise.
If they were transparent and said docked VRR was possible but wasn't ready for launch, the reaction would've been more or less the same as in this comment section, only more aggressive.
@Pod To add to your comment on what Smash 4 did better than Ultimate, it gave us new stages for Star Fox, Metroid (one that's not acid/lava hazard) and Donkey Kong. All of which that should've returned in Ultimate.
It also didn't ruin the Super Mario World music. Let me explain.
In Ultimate, due to the possibility of playing all the songs of a series in any stage of it, now the only Super Mario World song that plays in Yoshi's Island (Melee), a Yoshi series stage, is Athletic Theme, every other SMW song in the game is associated to the Mario series.
That and also for the music in the Other category. Some of the music I miss in certain stages include the Tetris music in Luigi's Mansion, the Final Boss song from Golden Sun: The Lost Age in Norfair, the final boss of The Wonderful 101 in Mario Galaxy, Mach Rider in F-Zero stages, Chill (for) from Dr. Mario in 75m, Tomorrow's Passion from Captain Rainbow (a song associated to Little Mac) in Boxing RIng.
@DonkeyKongBigBoy Oh, I agree there, but I've read that the Master System was pretty popular in Europe (or at leats the UK), and my belief is that the SEGA Mark III was also quite popular in Japan (of course I could be wrong on that one).
@N00BiSH It's sad to see people still have the "Nintendo Has FORGOTTEN About Mario..." belief just becau(s)e we're getting a new (overdue) 3D Donkey Kong over 3D Mario.
A 3D Mario will come eventually, can't they let DK enjoy some glory? Or is it because they're secretly still angry about the redesign?
EDIT: However the belief I have is that my keyboard hates me, always FORGETTING to insert the letters I type or giving me different letters.
Guess Street Fighter VI needed a response to Cristiano Ronaldo and that DJ whose name I cannot remember (nor I couldn't be arsed to) in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
@RobTheIII I started since the public beginning and I gave up by the time they introduced that level up currency for everyone in lieu of dedicated item.

For no apparent reason I actually played a bit yesterday. Had forgotten that on Monday it will be 20 years since it first came out.

The song in the opening movie lives rent free in my memory, though.

Re: Romero Games Hit With Layoffs Following Microsoft Xbox Cuts
That's what he gets for making himself Microsoft's b****.
All jokes aside, I hope for the best to those affected not only at Romero Games, but across Microsoft.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 13.0.4 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Re: Sega's President Wants Company's Revival To Be His "Greatest Achievement"
@DonkeyKongBigBoy Oh, I agree there, but I've read that the Master System was pretty popular in Europe (or at leats the UK), and my belief is that the SEGA Mark III was also quite popular in Japan (of course I could be wrong on that one).
Re: Sega's President Wants Company's Revival To Be His "Greatest Achievement"
Start by not re-releasing only Mega Drive/Genesis games.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Developer Has Been Revealed
@N00BiSH It's sad to see people still have the "Nintendo Has FORGOTTEN About Mario..." belief just becau(s)e we're getting a new (overdue) 3D Donkey Kong over 3D Mario.
A 3D Mario will come eventually, can't they let DK enjoy some glory? Or is it because they're secretly still angry about the redesign?
EDIT: However the belief I have is that my keyboard hates me, always FORGETTING to insert the letters I type or giving me different letters.
Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Developer Has Been Revealed
To no one's surprise. (No, I don't say that as a bad thing)
Re: A Cancelled 'Animaniacs' GBA Game Has Been Rediscovered, And You Can Play It Now
@Splash_Woman either that or belch Jingle All the Way have to be a requirement to develop an Animaniacs game.
Re: Street Fighter 6 Reveals Special Collab Outfit Available For "One Year Only"
Guess Street Fighter VI needed a response to Cristiano Ronaldo and that DJ whose name I cannot remember (nor I couldn't be arsed to) in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
Re: Disney Speedstorm Is Getting A Free Switch 2 Upgrade
@RobTheIII I started since the public beginning and I gave up by the time they introduced that level up currency for everyone in lieu of dedicated item.
Sad to hear it has only gotten worse.
