Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th September)

HammerGalladeBro

Yesterday I got Capcom Fighting Collection 2, so I'll be playing that.
I also intended to get Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection but I passed on it for now. Maybe in 2 weeks.

Sorry but other than Metroid itself, Metroidvanias aren't my thing, so I'll pass on Silksong and all its hype (which I actually got a bit tired of in the last few weeks). If you do, I hope you enjoy it.

Re: Switch Online's Mature N64 App Expands With Another Title This Week

HammerGalladeBro

Heads up: The western GBA NSO app was also updated. It didn't add games in the west but changed the boot up sound from the GBA BIOS to a Mario Advance coin, but it shows you the actual GBA BIOS if you move the right stick while the app boots up.
Oh, and button remapping as well.

And for whatever reason, the Japanese N64 18+ app was updated as well, but who knows what they changed.

Re: Capcom Vs. SNK 2 Director Really Wants To Make A Third Entry

HammerGalladeBro

On the one hand, sure. I'm up for more Capcom vs. SNK (not SNK vs. Capcom, though). Let me play as Mega Man (classic or X), Phoenix Wright, Viewtiful Joe, Blue Mary, Tizoc, Duck King, Mr. Karate and Shiki and I'm al set for CvS 3. Maybe even Bad Box Art Mega Man from Street Fighter X Tekken.
I recently read that Leon S. Kennedy and Mega Man were considered for Capcom vs. SNK 1, but Capcom decided to focus on characters from fighting games. That decision might also be the reason SNK characters such as Ralf Jones and Clark Still from Ikari Warriors aren't playable.

But on the other hand, if Street Fighter V, VI and Garou: City of the Wolves (and Tekken, come to think of it) are anything to go by, I can expect staples of both companies to be DLC or have irrelevant guests.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 System Update 20.4.0 Is Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

HammerGalladeBro

Now, I don't know if my Switch 1 suffered an issue or if my internet connection started to hate me, but since the weekend I haven't been able to play online (therefore I couldn't partake in the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds online mode) or browse the eShop without getting an error.

I even tried using the system on handheld mode in the room where the modem is and I still got errors. Has anyone else had this issue recently?

Re: Reminder: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds 'Open Network Test' For Switch Is Now Live

HammerGalladeBro

Don't have a Switch 2 yet, so I played on Switch 1. Nothing too bad, performance-wise during gameplay.

That said, I'm sorry, but something about it didn't click with me. Just as I feared, Extreme Gears don't feel like the Extreme Gears of Sonic Riders or even those from Zero Gravity (cannot say about Free Riders since I haven't played it).

The main menu looks very reminiscent of Disney Speedstorm, so it's easy to lose where the cursor is. Come to think of it, there are other aspects where it feels similar to Disney's racer but thankfully it doesn't have the individual leveling up system of it.

Finally. No, SEGA! I won't create a SEGA account just to get a piece of DLC that should be in the base game in the first place, in this case the Blue Star (Sonic's Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders). I have had enough of your subscriptions.

Re: Pokémon Legends Z-A's Latest Mega Evolution Looks Particularly Snazzy

HammerGalladeBro

So Hawlucha became Rey Misterio? Sorry, I don't know much about wrestling and that's the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the mask colors.
With that said, I love that Hawlucha is getting a Mega Evolution, but as others have said, I wish it also got an actual Evolution. Call it Maskle (mask + muscle) if you have to.

As an aside, I would've loved to have Hawlucha as the wrestling Pokémon in Smash Bros. and not Incineroar. Nothing against good ol' Gaogaen but I feel Hawlucha being Flying-type could've made for a more interesting moveset. That and the fact it's semi representation of my country and I could pretend it to be Tizoc from Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Re: Takashi Iizuka Explains Why Sonic Racing: CrossWorld's Guest Racers Stay Silent In-Game

HammerGalladeBro

On top of that, Iizuka claimed that the development team was keen to focus their attention on the Sonic characters first and foremost, ensuring that the interactions between them were nailed down before worrying about the wider cast. "They really had to focus, put all the effort into Sonic," he explained, "and they had to give up on the non-Sonic characters".

If Sonic gets top billing, why even bother making it a SEGA crossover? Let alone marketing it as such when said SEGA crossover won't even be in the base game.

Re: Nintendo Music Update Adds More Songs To Kirby And The Forgotten Land Playlist

HammerGalladeBro

Don't mind me. I'm only here for A Trip To Alivel Mall, The Wondaria Dream Parade and The Wastes Where Life Began.

EDIT: Listening to The Dream Discoveries Tour and Eternal Echo of the Thrilling Tour-our-our and I noticed they have the voice of the Japanese Guide.
Kind of wish they had included a toggle for the other guides, I love the European Spanish Guide dialogue of "Mmmm ¡Ya hemos llegado!" and to a lesser extent, the Latin American Spanish equivalent, "¡Por fin hemos llegado!", if only for how they say those lines. In English those lines correspond to "And here we are!".

Re: Japan's National Library Says Game-Key Cards Are Not Eligible For Preservation

HammerGalladeBro

I'm trying to see the situation from every possible angle. At this point, I don't think there's a good outcome for the consumer.

Nintendo requests 3rd parties to use regular carts once they're reasonably available? 3rd parties would likely say "Eff you" and either continue to use GKC or go to another system.

As much as I don't like it, I see GKC as a compromise to have the 3rd party support on the system.

With that said, I'll repeat myself. If an indie releases a game through GKC and legit cannot afford regular carts without resorting to LRG and similar companies, I'd gladly buy said GKC to support the devs.
If by June 2026, major 3rd parties such as Square Enix or SEGA are still using GKC, they can forget about my money.

While I'm on the topic of GKC, yesterday I went to a mall in my city and none of the stores had any GKC games apart from a Bravely Default. Either retailers aren't carrying them or they got a very small stock of them that they're sold out. For that matter, I haven't seen a single copy of Mario Kart World in my city since launch, but I've seen Cyberpunk and Donkey Kong Bananza. They did have the NS2 Editions of the Zeldas and Mario Party.

Re: Opinion: We Need To Talk About X Games

HammerGalladeBro

What about X (the Game Boy game that's the first game to ever feature Totaka's Song) and its follow up X-Scape (on the DSiWare, which also has Totaka's Song triggered in the same way as the original, also known in Europe as 3D Space Tank)?
As far as I know, those are called "eks" and "ekscape", the latter I initally called "eks scape"

Since it was announced I've been saying either Drag Cross Drive or just Drag Drive. I forget Nintendo calls it Drag and Drive. If that's the case, it should've been written as Drag & Drive not Drag X Drive. I also have that problem with Spy X Family and to a lesser extent with Hunter X HUNTER.
For every other instance I just say "eks" when it's not a crossover, if it is a crossover I tend to say "cross", so for example I call the game as "Xenoblade eks".

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Chibi-Robo!: Park Patrol

HammerGalladeBro

Technically there should be 3 contenders, because as @N00BiSH says the North American boxart has Walmart label. And the game also had an Australian release.
Even if it is the same art as the NA box, it doesn't have any labels, which would make it a potential 2nd victory for Australia in Box Art Brawl's history.
Please consider updating the poll if it is possible.

In its current state, I refuse to vote for the North American box art (the better one of the 2 current options) because it's not the real one.

Anyway, I believe the reason the Japanese box art has flowers instead of the garden/park background is because of the title, Sakasete! Chibi-Robo!, which roughly translates to Make It Bloom! Chibi-Robo!.
I just learned this yesterday when I was actually thinking about this game for no particular reason. I believe the game is calling me for another playthrough to get ready for the time I get a Switch 2 and play the original. Yes, I have it in my collection thanks to a second-hand copy that was available in 2010-2011 in Blockbuster/Game Rush when we still used to have them in Mexico.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (23rd August)

HammerGalladeBro

Today's my birthday, but I don't think I'll do anything special or play anything in particular other than maybe finally do the Pokémon League of Pokémon Black, which I'm not ready for (first time in my mainline Pokémon playthroughs where I'm not ready for the League).

With that said, I saw an image today that already made my day. I'll share it with you once I upload it to imgur (sorry it's the only image hosting site where I have an account).

EDIT: Here, I still hate this website (imgur).

Re: Review: Chibi-Robo (GameCube) - A Charming Game About An Altruistic Robot Or A Shambolic Scavenger Hunt?

HammerGalladeBro

I knew the game presented a dysfunctional family concept, but had no idea how it presented it.
To think that every other game (yes, even Zip Lash) is more light-hearted. Can't speak for the DS Japan-only game, never played it and haven't watched any playthroughs of it.

If ever see a not-so expensive copy (2,500 Mexican pesos at most), I'm sure I'll get it.

Re: Nightdive's CEO Reiterates Desire To Remaster 'Eternal Darkness'

HammerGalladeBro

@WheresWaveRace Ideas for new Sanity effects.

-Your character enters DK Mode from GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark.

-The game switches to graphics in the style of the original game.

-Updated Blue Screen of Death

-The game out of nowhere switches to a completely different one. As in, you enter a room and the game is now an 8-bit shooter in the same vein as Sky Kid or something like that.

-A prompt saying that to continue playing you have to buy DLC with a prompt to open the eShop. If you refuse to do so, your character blows up and the game ends.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Rating Spotted On Nintendo's Website

HammerGalladeBro

@Not_Soos well, for better or worse the Hunters one is just mentioned in the lore logs about what happened when Gorea (the final boss of Hunters) was on the loose, it never actually happens in-game.

There's a log entry that reads: "Our defenses were useless against Gorea as it swept through our empire in an orgy of annihilation.".

Also, in Hunters other log entries refer to Gorea as "the cancer".

Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

HammerGalladeBro

@ArcadianLegend99 True. It's only a matter of when.

My idea for her special would be to briefly ride a drawing of a mini Dyna Blade with the offensive abilities of the Hydra and the flight capabilities of the Dragoon, both Legendary Air Ride machines from the original. Either that or summon Ribbon to attack with Crystals.

Speaking of those machines, I hope they returm for the new City Trial.

Re: Round Up: Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 - Every Switch 1 & 2 Announcement & Trailer

HammerGalladeBro

Not sure how I feel about the Pac-Man X Sonic collaborations.

On the one hand, the Sonic stuff in Pac-Man World 2 looks nice and looks like those Nintendo levels in Sonic Lost World. But the Pac-Man stuff in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is directly interferring with what has been advertised as a Sonic & SEGA crossover racing game. But then again, that Nick stuff and Minecraft already broke what the game was supposed to be.

Re: Official Box Art For Kirby Air Riders Revealed, Price And File Size Confirmed

HammerGalladeBro

@Huntrix3 I already ranted about it, but let me bring this topic once again.
Even if a game is rated E10+, the violence and themes tend to be mild.
I'm convinced the ESRB doesn't know what E10+ originally stood for.

Something like Donkey Kong Jungle Beat on the GC or Mario Strikers Charged on the Wii are well worthy of the E10+ rating because the characters do go out of character and I'd say are even more aggresive and violent than even Smash Bros.
The modern Sonic games I'd say are also worthy of E10+ for their themes of serious death and destruction to a degree that goes a bit above what you'd expect from a game aimed at all ages. The gameplay itself is tame.

The Kirby games, however, are a stretch. Nothing in them is as aggresive, violent or suggestive as the examples I mentioned. At most you get a final boss that bleeds, which penalizes the entire game to that rating. And from what was shown, I suppose that dark creature riding a dark Wheelie Bike at the end might fill that criteria.

For reference, Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 and 2 are also rated E10+: Really, a puzzle series? What's it doing to get that rating? I mean, it deals with the destruction of the Puyo Puyo and Tetris worlds due to the merger, but it doesn't present it as a serious threat as in the Sonics. In my past comment on the link, I previously mentioned Satan/Dark Prince declaring his love for Arle Nadja.
Also, Mario Strikers: Battle League is also rated E10+, but it is the mildest in the series. Super Mario Strikers on the GC is more violent and gritty and it still got an E at a time E10+ was already a thing.

I'd agree if Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie were bumped from E to E10+, playing them again in 2021 after 20 years made me realize these games are gore for kids: characters blow up and get dismembered for no reason when they're defeated but is done in a cartoonish way and not a single splash of blood is seen.

Anyway, I'm going off a tangent here.
I like the box art, but the logo is seriously lacking. I was hoping that wasn't the final logo. Unfortunately, it follows the simplicity of the Japanese logo.
The illustration does the job of representing the fact you have more playable characters compared to the original, which was just Kirby for the most part.
