Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Mario Hoops 3 On 3

HammerGalladeBro

Maybe you want to update the poll to mention that the North American cover is shared with Australia.

Also, the Japanese cover is not entirely the same as the European one, the logo is positioned differently and doesn't follow the style of the western ones, and it has the text タッチでドリブル、スライドでシュート! (Touch de Dribble, Slide de Shoot!)
Untitled

Anyway, my vote goes to NA/AU for showing actual basketball. The European cover and name kind of look like they follow the conventions established by Mario Smash Football.

Apparently, years later there was a re-release of the North American version that came on a red box and the Nintendo logo was black on the cover. Must've been around 2010-2011, when Nintendo re-released various Mario DS games on red boxes.
I don't know if in-game there's any difference, though.

Let me use this chance to once again say to anyone who plays this game, you can cheat Tournament mode games as it allows you to restart the second half of a match as many times as you want, just make sure you won the first half. This is especially useful for the match against the Final Fantasy trio in Hard Mode.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Virtual Boy And GBA Library With Three More Titles

HammerGalladeBro

About Mario vs. Donkey Kong, I'm hopeful that the more people play it and see/hear the opening, the more people will be aware of the Spanish audio of "dos cero tres ochenta y ocho". Maybe that way I can finally find its origin and the full audio.

Other places where I've heard it: Space Ghost: Coast to Coast (from here I know it's a long audio), Shaq Fu's commercial and apparently was also used in the Mexican movie known as "Amores Perros", though I've read that a later edit removed it.

Re: Celebrate Mario Day With The Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Soundtrack

HammerGalladeBro

Lots of bangers for me this time, I'm here for all of these.

-Super Bell Hill
-Underground Theme (I've always liked this version of Underground Theme the most, with the 3D Land version in second)
-Chainlink Charge
-Footlight Lane
-Hands-On Hall
-Snowball Park (returning from 3D Land)
-Simmering Lava Lake (seemingly returning from 3D Land)
-World 8
-Bowser's Lava Lake Keep (returning from 3D Land)
-Super Block Land (returning from 3D Land, which itself is like a variant of SM3DL Main Theme)
-The Great Tower Showdown 2

-‐--

-Lake Lapcat
-Scamper Shores
-Fury Bowser Attacks! (Hopeful that this song makes it to Smash Bros. one day)
-Fury Bowser Withdraws (similarly, I hope the end of this song becomes Bowser's victory fanfare in Smash one day)
-Fury Bowser Driven Back
-Fort Flaptrap
-Furious Fury Bowser
-Mount Magmeow

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (7th March)

HammerGalladeBro

Unlike other people, this weekend I'll play Sonic Lost World (3DS version), I got a CIB copy yesterday.

This is a game I've always wanted to play but never found, just like any other handheld Sonic game.
I know it is a little divisive in that some people prefer the Wii U version and others the 3DS one. But the idea of it being the first 3D Sonic game on a handheld has to count for something.

We'll see where I stand.

Re: Kirby Air Riders Races Onto Nintendo Music This Week

HammerGalladeBro

I have to listen to the new soundtrack properly. I'm mostly here for the music from the original Kirby Air Ride and the anime, namely

-City Trial: City
-The Mysterious Bird Dyna Blade (originally called "Dyna Blade Intro" in KAR1 and "Destruction! Nightmare's Giant Fortess" in the anime)
-Drag Race (originally "Reserve Strategy" in the anime)
-Machine Passage
-Beanstalk Park
-Fantasy Meadows
-Nebula Belt
-Nebula Belt (Alt) (originally "Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land: Dream Land" in KAR, which itself is a slight remix of Fountain of Dreams from Smash Bros. Melee)

Props for having a track from Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, though. (Cyber (Alt) in case you're wondering).

That said, is Checker Knights (originally "Strong Star Warrior" in the anime) not in here? I cannot see it.

EDIT: Oh, I see. Is it still used in-game?

Re: Poll: 20 Years On, Does Your DS Lite Still Have Charge?

HammerGalladeBro

I was gonna comment on how funny it is that 100% of the poll is "I don't have a DS Lite to test " before I realized my vote was the very first. (I voted before commenting when the story went live).

Anyway, I only have a Mario 25th Anniversary DSi XL that still holds its charge as if it still were 2010-2011.

Re: Review: Pokémon Pokopia (Switch 2) - One Of The Most Enticing Pokémon Games Ever

HammerGalladeBro

Ok, let me repeat what I said before.

The reason Pokopia is a GKC is most likely a decision by TPCI, the actual publisher in Japan. There's the copyright notices that mention Pokémon (referring to TPCI) before Nintendo, Creatures and Game Freak? That makes me believe that TPCI decisions overrule Nintendo's.

I don't know if that's the case in other eShops (I know for a fact it is on the Japanese one), but on the Mexican eShop there are 2 companies listed as "Nintendo". One is your usual Nintendo where you have Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid, etc., and the other is one where only Pokémon games are listed, those listings match the ones on the Japanese eShop that say are published by "Pokémon".
I think by this point it should be clear that Pokémon operates differently to other Nintendo IPs and it's not 100% Nintendo's calls when something bad happens.

About Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, even if it was a proper physical release, it was still at risk of being a GKC due to it technically being a Koei Tecmo game that used a Nintendo IP, keep in mind Koei Tecmo is the publisher of Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors in Japan.
I suppose that Age of Imprisonment ended up being a proper physical at the request of Nintendo, which they coud because it was a game using an IP they 100% own, unlike Pokémon. Look at every other KT release so far, all of them GKC except for Age of Imprisonment.

All of this is not defending GKC, I'm just trying to put some perspective on why Pokopia is one. I said it before, but I need to see a Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Smash or Xenoblade as a GKC before I question Nintendo's claim of not releasing GKC of their own games.

With that said, eventually I'll get the game one way or another, provided that I get to play Dragon Quest Builders to determine if this is a genre I'm willing to invest time on, considering I'm not really into Minecraft and the like.

Re: 50 Best Nintendo 3DS Games Of All Time

HammerGalladeBro

Having not played many 3DS games due to my late acquisition of one, my top 5 would be (in no particular order)

Super Mario 3D Land
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
Metroid: Samus Returns
Miitopia
Kirby: Triple Deluxe

Runner-ups that just miss the mark.
Kid Icarus: Uprising; misses the mark due to how cramped your hands feel after a session. Otherwise, this is easily top 10 material.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games; yes, really. It misses the marked due to the lack of Dream Events and how the events are now only playable by certain groups of characters. Otherwise I love how good the game looks and sounds as well as how much more pickup-and-play it is compared the handheld versions of Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010.

Mario Kart 7; lack of single-player Vs. Mode is a real dealbreaker in an otherwise good game I would see myself going back to if it had it.

Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash; yes, really (again). It's not as bad as the internet makes you believe it is. If you want a 2D platformer with a lasso as the main mechanic, then this is for you. It misses the mark by how RNG-based it can be on the level select.

LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins; loading times. Enough said. I do pop up this one every now and then just to do things you cannot do on console LCU.

Rusty's Real Deal Baseball; this one I consider a true hidden gem once you get/buy all the games. Yes, you had to spend real money to get the games (the program itself was free), but thankfully you could bargain and give Rusty some items to lower the price. I think in total I spent about 450 MXN (about $25 at most) for all the games back in 2023 and I regret nothing.

I also cannot be angry with New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Paper Mario: Sticker Star. I did get some enjoyment out of them.
I also wish my copy of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games worked, though.

Other 3DS games I wish I played include Kirby: Planet Robobot, Metroid Prime: Federation Force (yes, for real), the Mario & Luigis, Sonic Lost World, any of the Pokémon versions (mainly Alpha Sapphire) and Tomodachi Life.

And no, modding my systems is not an option. Going by my own experience, I've been able to play most of the games I've wanted to play by legit means on many systems on their due time.

Re: Review: The Disney Afternoon Collection (Switch 2) - A Delightful Yet Difficult '90s Throwback

HammerGalladeBro

@Mana_Knight The worst thing is that Comix Zone and The Ooze were already in the Japanese GC release. At least the Game Gear games were available in Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Gems Collection, right?

Funny enough, Sonic Gems Collection also had games removed. Normally the only non-Sonic games you can unlock are Vectorman 1 and 2, but in the Japanese release you can also unlock Bonanza Bros. and the Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle trilogy.

Re: Marvel Maximum Collection Revives Six Classic Superhero Titles On Switch

HammerGalladeBro

Looking at the copyrights at the end of the trailer, I don't see why they particularly show the Konami logo at the beginning. Makes it look like this will be a Konami-published collection when it only has 1 game by them.

Also, I'm guessing it is Throwback Entertainment the one that owns the rights to LJN games. So really Throwback Entertainment is the real new LJN.

Depending on the outcome, I may get this digitally only for X-Men: The Arcade Game. I don't need to go through the same suffering of AVGN in SIlver Surfer and almost all of my Marvel needs are covered by Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (21st February)

HammerGalladeBro

It's probably more Star Fox Adventures for me. Just got the second Spellstone.

Next week I intend to buy copies of Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse, Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO and Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.
I'll see if the guy could also lend me a hand to also get NBA Sreet V3 and SSX On Tour.

EDIT: Due to "certain events" going on in Mexico, those games may have to wait a little bit since they would be FB Marketplace purchases from one of the affected states.

Re: PSA: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Switch Preloads Are Now Live

HammerGalladeBro

I just came to the realization, the Switch releases of FRLG bumped the ESRB rating from E to E10+, which in turn bumps the Mexican rating from A (all ages) to B (12+).

What the hey? Is it because of the Game Corner and the whole "Simulated Gambling" debacle? It is no more gambling than any modern Football/Soccer, American Football or Basketball game.

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 6 Pokémon?

HammerGalladeBro

By this point, my votes will be mostly about exposure to certain Pokémon and not because I like them since, like I said the last time, I haven't played X/Y (or Legends: Z-A if it matters).

With that said, it's either Pancham or Dedenne (chonky baby Pikachu). Screw Greninja, I'm sick of it thanks to Smash. Same to Incineroar.

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 5 Pokémon?

HammerGalladeBro

Oshawott is perhaps my favorite of this generation.
Other Gen 5 favorites of mine: Stoutland, Axew, Scraggy, Gothitelle, Krookodile, Zoroark, Chandelure, Vanilluxe (yes, I'm not kidding), Leavanny, Lilligant, Reshiram.

Would've loved to see Hydreigon with the original military theme, though.

With that said, this was the last Pokémon generation I played,. I may not objectively participate on the rest since I'm not familiar with all the Pokémon, except for Galar/Scorbunny.
