Re: Pokémon Pokopia Is Seemingly Nintendo's First Game-Key Card Release

HammerGalladeBro

Before I make a general comment about Nintendo using Game-Key Cards, I would need to see them using them on Mario in general, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Smash Bros. or even Xenoblade.

Pokémon? It is in a weird position and at this point, I'm convinced TPC gets the final say that overrules Nintendo's for everything Pokémon, at least when it comes to the games.

Re: Feature: Now Samus Is Doing It - What Is It About The 'Akira Slide' That's So Great?

HammerGalladeBro

It is a cool stunt, I won't deny that. But when everyone does it, it gets old really quick for me unless they do it differently (such as Shadow doing it vertically outside a building) or the slide has an actual purpose (an attack in Samus' case).

Edit/Side note: Of all the characters shown doing the slide, one that I'm surprised hasn't done it is Mach Rider. I know the game predates the movie, but not even fan arts of her doing it exist.

Re: Hiroshi Yamauchi Might Feel Envious Of Switch 2's Success, Says Miyamoto

HammerGalladeBro

@JohnnyMind I'm not sure if the Donkey Kong Land series counts as rereleases. The only thing in common between the DKL and DKC games is the music, settings and bosses, but the plot (save for DKL2, whose plot is more or less the same as in DKC2) and level design are different between the DKL and DKC games.

In fact, DKL1 is way more different to DKC1 than how DKL2 and DKL3 are different to their respective DKC.
It is the most original of the DKL trilogy and, ironically, the one with the least stakes in the series since it is just a test by Cranky, arranged by himself with King K. Rool, that Donkey and Diddy can stop King K. Rool on less-powerful hardware.

Re: Nintendo Releases A Storefront App For Android And iOS

HammerGalladeBro

For everyone asking why wasn't this on the Nintendo Today! app, it says it in the story. This app predates NT!, by a few years, as the original version, My Nintendo, was available only in Japan. This is the international version of that app.

If anything, it should be the other way around, meaning Nintendo Today! should've been part of My Nintendo / Nintendo Store.

Anyway, I booted up the app, and yes, I'm surprised to see my Wii U and 3DS registers being there. Unfortunately, it won't be complete because it's missing my addition of Metroid: Samus Returns from February 2025 and Wii Party U from June 2024.

Re: Metroid Prime 4's Sweet New Trailer Builds The Hype For Next Month's Launch

HammerGalladeBro

@LastFootnote As a Metroid fan, I really don't understand why people want a Direct, I doubt a Direct will sell the game to many who aren't already in Metroid's target audience (which I'm willing to say is on the niche side when compared to other Nintendo series). The only thing it will do is spoil more than it needs to.

A trailer explaining the basic plot and how/why Samus gets the VI-O-La Suit and bike would be enough for me. The rest I don't need to know.

As for myself, I was expecting to buy the game at launch or near-launch, but now I'll probably wait a bit and get it by Christmas Eve at the latest, but maybe now I can also get it with the Sylux amiibo at least.

Re: Dragon Quest Creator Yuji Horii Has Been Awarded One Of Japan's Highest Honours

HammerGalladeBro

A well deserved award. Something about the combination of what made Dragon Quest what it is cannot go unappreciated.

Thanks for the reminder that I still need to play Dragon Quest XI. Realistically the only mainline DQ I've played is IX. I've also played Monsters: Joker 2 and, if you want to be technical, DQ Wars, Itadaki Street DS and Fortune Street since they also share elements with the DQ series. No, Slime in Mario Sports Mix and Hero in Smash probably don't count.

The actual little content of DQ I've played over the years did leave me wanting more. One day I'll play the HD-2D trilogy, Monsters: The Dark Prince and VII Reimagined.

With that said, I wonder what the deaths of Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama mean for the future of Dragon Quest?

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Animal Crossing: Wild World

HammerGalladeBro

@Nintendomatt64 It's only a matter of time before we see Animal Crossing: Galaxy Colony and you can also live along with aliens.

Aa for the box arts, despite being the same image, I like both for different reasons, as both actually emphasize their names. The western one shows a World, while the Japanese one encourages the characters to say おいでよ (Oideyo, which can mean "Come here"), implying the distance between players.

I love how Blathers' sister (forgot her name, sorry) had to be relocated to the top of the museum in the Japanese cover.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st November)

HammerGalladeBro

Itadaki Street DS
I'm convinced the Slimenia board in the Alena Tour hates me, I've tried to win it what? 4 times already? And when I'm practically at the doors of victory, some nonsense happens that snatches victory from my hands. Either that or Alena goes forced buyout-happy (think trigger-happy in purchasing already owned properties) in my properties on districts I already own entirely.

The funny thing is that the Mario equivalent, Delfino Plaza in the Wario Tour, was a piece of cake. I cleared it on my first try.

Disney Illusion Island
Taking advantage of the NSO Trial to measure if Mickey and Friends controlling like in Rayman Legends are enough to entice me into Metroidvanias.

Re: Opinion: Animal Crossing On Switch 2 Has Me Equal Parts Buzzing And Baffled

HammerGalladeBro

Animal Crossing has had a game or new content to a previous game about every 3-4 years.

Doubutsu no Mori in 2001 on the N64, which then had international versions and re-releases on the Gamecube in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 (this one for the Chinese iQue).

Animal Crossing: Wild World in 2005.

Animal Crossing: City Folk in 2008.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf in 2012/2013.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer in 2015. Is this one a spin-off? I never played it to know if it's a proper AC or not.

Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival (let's stop pretending it doesn't exist), a board game spin-off made by ND Cube that probably doesn't count towards that 3-4 years trend, also in 2015.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, a major content update for New Leaf in 2016.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, a mobile game from 2017, may also not count towards the trend. Was shutdown in 2024, but a Complete edition was released almost immediately after.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons in 2020.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise DLC in 2021.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + major content update for both the NS2 Edition and regular NS1 version in 2026.

Going by that trend, I'm expecting a Switch 2 Animal Crossing by 2028 at the earliest.

Re: Talking Point: When Did 'Good Enough' Become Good Enough For Pokémon?

HammerGalladeBro

Count me in for the "Pokémon has always been good enough" crowd. I was there in Gen and I remember it as a coding mess, softlocking (there's a reason why I stopped using Softboiled in the field) and glitching out of nowhere during normal gameplay (never forget that Lass that started the battle normally and ended it as a Machoke back sprite).

Now, despite the fact of how the rights of Pokémon are split, I'm convinced The Pokémon Company has the final say.

There's a reason TPC is usually listed in the copyright (as simply Pokémon) before Nintendo, Creatures and Game Freak and may actually hold some of the rights to the series if the composition copyrights in Smash Bros. starting with Ruby/Sapphire music is anything to go by. Those songs state: Composition Copyright Pokémon. / Nintendo / Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK inc.

TL;DR TPC's decisions most likely overrule Nintendo's starting with Gen III, but before that the mainline series was already a coding mess.

Re: Round Up: Limited Run Games 10th Anniversary Special - Every Switch Announcement & Physical

HammerGalladeBro

@TYRANACLES thanks for the info. When Nintendo Life put up the story they only had the listing of games and the release windows. For Zero they had it listed as a separate release from the Aero collection.

@RupeeClock I believe the original story, like the Aero and Zero confusion, did mention those games but for some reason NL removed them. I remember seeing AVGN on the list and reacting like "****, AVGN has sold himself out to LRG".

Re: Round Up: Limited Run Games 10th Anniversary Special - Every Switch Announcement & Physical

HammerGalladeBro

Ok, apart from the obvious that Capcom is now succumbing to LRG, I have 2 questions.

1. Why only Capcom Arcade Stadium? Why not make both CAS and call it Capcom Arcade Complete Stadium or something like that?

2. Why the hey they didn't include Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel in Aero the Acro-Bat Collection? It's not like there are a lot of Aero games, not even if you include the SEGA Mega Drive versions. Including those, there are 7 games in total: Aero 1 SNES/MD/GBA, Aero 2 SNES/MD and Zero SNES/MD. It would go up to 8 if they somehow included the unreleased Aero 2 GBA.
EDIT: See below.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Is Confident Mario Will Be Around For "A Long Time To Come"

HammerGalladeBro

@Anti-Matter
I'm not really insightful to know, but I feel if you change too much the design of a character from one game to another, you run the risk of also changing its appeal. At least that's how I perceive it.

I feel like what they've been doing in the sports spin-offs (Golf, Tennis, Strikers (since the GC days) and Mario & Sonic) where they now wear proper clothing for said sports is a good approach. Though at the same time, I miss seeing Mario running in Athletism or in swimming competitions while wearing his usual overalls and shoes.

Re: Nintendo Updates Its Music App With Another DS Soundtrack

HammerGalladeBro

Don't mind me, I'm only here for the appreciation of the Minigames, and maybe Mario Vs. Luigi - Stage 2 BGM.

Anyway, since I'm playing Itadaki Street DS, eventually I'll get to Bowser's Castle as one of the final boards, which uses a Koichi Sugiyama version of the Castle Theme of NSMB using the sound engine of the DS Dragon Quests.
Might as well get used to the song once again since I'm expecting to hear it a lot.
