Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Three More Titles

HammerGalladeBro

Ok, so I played about 5 minutes of the first Bubsy level. What could possibly go wrong? Well, 3 things already.

1. The momentum during a running jump will always push Bubsy forward, you can reduce it by holding the D-Pad in the opposite direction but not completely cancel it. If you only press the D-Pad, Bubsy will simply fling himself facing the opposite direction. That will make jumping a little bit difficult.

2. One hit deaths. Granted I havent' progressed beyond the huge cliff after the second checkpoint to see if there's health. I want to believe there is.

3. Fall Damage. Really? There's fall damage in a 2D platformer? And one that counts as a hit, in other words, fall damage can also kill you with one hit.

Guess I'll play Mario & Wario in between the Marvel Vs. Capcom collection and Itadaki Street DS. Not a bad addition by any means.

Just like Fatal Fury 2, I can try the SNES version of Fatal Fury Special before I get the ACA NEOGEO version.

Including Bubsy when the collection is available is certainly a choice. Whether it's a good one or not...I'm not one to judge Atari.

Heads-up: Japan is also getting these three games. Yes, even Bubsy.

EDIT:
@Sunsy Also the rewind function should make our time with Bubsy a not so miserable one.

Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?

HammerGalladeBro

It depends on how we are measuring it. Every game I buy is technically new to me with a few exceptions such as a re-release or games (such as Luigi's Mansion) that I previously owned but had to let go some time ago.

If we specify, my stats for 2025 so far, per my backloggery:

Brand new/Sealed (regardless of price)? Probably not many, maybe 2-3 per year. 5 at most.
So far, I've bought sealed copies of Mario & Sonic Rio 2016 3DS, Pac-Man World Re-PAC, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection. My last purchase in this category for 2025 will be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Second-hand? Quite a lot since I tend to find them rather cheap, these can easily be 7-10 per year.
So far, Metroid: Samus Returns, Jump Super Stars, Tingle's Balloon FIght DS, Luigi's Mansion, Star Fox: Assault, Baten Kaitos 1, Tales of Symphonia, Fight Night Round 2, Itadaki Street DS. Jump Ultimate Stars doesn't count because that one was a gift from a friend that went to Japan.

Cheap, digital-only games (no more than 200 Mexican Pesos)? Yeah, these are also a lot and can easily be 15-20 or more per year.
So far: Picross S Namco Legendary Edition, Amanda the Adventurer, Omega 6: The Triangle Stars, JALECOlle Famicom Ver.: Pizza Pop!, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle (when it was on sale and the closure was nowhere to be seen), SNK Gals' Fighters, King of Fighters R-2, Q with VTubers, Shockman 1, Classic Racing Pack: Moto Roader MC + Rider's Spirits and the ACA releases of Rally-X, The Legend of Valkyrie, Art of Fighting, Kiki Kaikai, Mappy, Puzzle Bobble, Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands.

Some food for thought about the possibility of the baby being Baby Rosalina.

One thing I'll give credit to the Mario movie is that Baby Mario, Baby Luigi and to a certain extent Baby Peach look like their game counterparts.

This baby, however, doesn't look a lot like Baby Rosalina (other than the hair) or movie Baby Peach. I can give it the benefit of it being younger than the usual baby versions, though.
Untitled

Spoiler for anyone who hasn't played Super Mario Galaxy 1.
Also, per her storybook in-game, isn't Rosalina's mom supposed to be more or less another Rosalina without her hair covering her right eye?
Untitled
Why would they pull a live-action Inspector Gadget's Dr. Claw and show her face?
I imagine that for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie they will have a flashback of Rosalina as a girl teasing us about her mom in the same way as in Galaxy 1.

With all that said, the lack of an age rating from ESRB on this video (it is a NoA upload) might indeed mean it's something non-gaming related.

Re: SEGA Announces New Olympic Merch Collab, Reigniting Hopes Of A Mario & Sonic Comeback

HammerGalladeBro

@ShieldHero Just a little clarification. Yes, AlphaDream did some work in Mario & Sonic Tokyo 2020 but they weren't the main developers of the series, those would be Racjin, with help from others (apart from Nintendo itself) such as Marvelous AQL for Sochi 2014, Yuke's, Success and AlphaDream for Tokyo 2020.

You're probably thinking of the Mario & Luigi series.

Edit to the comment above me: No problem. However, you raise a good point. Would SEGA bring Acquire to have them do the same job AlphaDream did in Tokyo 2020?

Re: SEGA Announces New Olympic Merch Collab, Reigniting Hopes Of A Mario & Sonic Comeback

HammerGalladeBro

@MrCarlos46 somehow I can imagine the Galactic Federation having some sort of internal sports competition, similar to Blast Ball.

What a coincidence. A few hours ago I was saying on the forums how Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games DS is material for one of the best DS games.

Anyway, when are the next olympics? Be it summer or winter. Ok, I know there should be winter olympics in 2026 (they always occur in the same year there's a World Cup), I just don't know where they will be.
EDIT: They will be at Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy.

Re: Nintendo Denies Lobbying Japanese Government Over AI, Will "Take Necessary Actions" Over IP Rights

HammerGalladeBro

(The following comment is AI generated*)

As far as my job goes, no, I haven't used AI myself, my boss has used ChatGTP to redact letters, requests and permissions to local departments outside the school I work such as the transit, the commerce department or Civil Defense. He gives me the ChatGTP generated text and it is on me to do the human input to the results and give it format. Now, if a machine replaced me and did everything I do at said school (and I mean EVERYTHING), I will of course fight back.

I'm not advocating for the use of AI as replacement of the human resource, however, I'm gonna say that the best outcome for AI would be:
1. Train the AI with your own material.
2. Let it generate.
3. MANDATORY: Have an actual humans look at what was generated and have them do the corrections and touch-ups.

But let's be real, it won't happen because point 1 is immediately not respected and point 3 will either be abused by companies and cheap/lazy individuals or not have human input in the results.

*No, it isn't.+
+And yes, I'm gonna make that a running joke every time I comment on an AI article.

Re: 'Scurge: Hive' Spreads Its Isometric, Metroid-y Retro Virus To Switch This Week

HammerGalladeBro

This game got my attention when I saw the announcement article in Time Extension back in May, but for that price? I think I'm gonna wait a bit.

Not to sound like I'm whining, but I'm legit curious why it's more expensive than other retro releases by Ratalaika. If it has both the GBA and DS versions? Sure, I'll take it at that price, but if it's only the GBA version I'll wait a bit. Maybe after Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Re: Poll: So, Did You Get Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 For Switch?

HammerGalladeBro

Not yet, but eventually I will.
Yesterday my package of the Marvel vs. Capcom collection arrived, so I will be busy with that. Then I'm awaiting another package with Itadaki Street DS, which should be here next week. After that it will be the launch of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

If I have any considerable amount of money after it and the dinners for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, I'll be ready for the physical collection.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Teleroboxer (Virtual Boy)

HammerGalladeBro

A little more context for the cover arts.
From my understanding, Teleroboxer is a 2-human and 2-big robot sport. The human controls the robot, that's why there's a human next to the robot in the Japanese version. They're the main characters, while the American cover is one of the opponent robots.

The robot is called Harry and it's the only Virtual Boy representation in Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Spirit, apart from the VB itself on the Gamer stage.

After defearing a robot, you can see the human controlling it. But I believe Harry and his human are never shown in-game, I might be wrong on that last part.

Re: Review: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Switch) - Still Out Of This World

HammerGalladeBro

@SillyG Thanks a lot.

...there are plenty of physical releases that spawn separate icons for the included games.

That's the reason I'm asking, I'm afraid my progress on the digital version couldn't be used on the physical release if it were just one icon.
I intend to get Galaxy 2 digitally at first, then get the physical copy if I come across a cheap one in the future.

Re: Rumour: A Bunch Of LEGO Games Might Get The 'Switch 2 Edition' Treatment Soon

HammerGalladeBro

Count me in for LEGO City Undercover, if only to make it more stable.

How is it that on the Wii U (unpatched, I might add) is far more stable than on the Switch (with at least one update currently under its belt)?

I don't even care about loading times, just make sure the Switch version doesn't crash during normal gameplay, something that didn't happen to me on the Wii U. That's all I'm asking for this one, on the Wii U it's easily top 5 for me, but on Switch it's more of a dread experience since I don't know when/if it will crash.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's GBA Library With Two More Titles

HammerGalladeBro

I don't know if it means anything, but I'm currently updating the GBA NSO app and decided to casually try to update the other NSO apps just to see if there's any other minor update or if the remaining apps change from "Nintendo Switch Online" to "Nintendo Classics", and to my surprise the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis one is updating.

Or it could just be a past minor update.
