The Legend of Zelda Monopoly Dated for 15th September in US

Posted by Thomas Whitehead

GameStop exclusive edition confirmed

Back in March this year USAopoly confirmed a special edition Legend of Zelda Monopoly along with a variety of other licensed products. There was no real insight into how it would look, but a pre-order listing by GameStop shows it off, while confirming a $39.99 price tag and 15th September release in the US.

As you can see in the image above it's a stylish setup, and details of the contents are below, including some aspects that are exclusive to GameStop.

6 Collectible tokens:

Bow
Hookshot
Boomerang
Triforce
Hylian Shield
Ocarina of Time (Game Stop Exclusive token)

Houses renamed Deku Sprouts, Hotels renamed Deku Trees

Chance and Community Chest cards are renamed Empty Bottle and Treasure Chest

Custom Deed Cards

6 Item Power Cards for added game play (Game Stop Exclusive)

Goddess Harp
Wind Walker
Minish Cap
Spirit Flute
Phantom Hourglass
Ocarina of Time

Zelda themed money

Custom rules including Item Card instructions

11"x17" Hyrule Map Lithograph in Treasure Chest Holder (Game Stop Exclusive)

Other retailers will likely be selling this too, minus some extras, but this certainly looks attractive. Check out the images above and below and let us know if you're planning to pick this up.

Thanks to Alias for the heads up.

This would be really fun to play.

But dang, do I wanna spend $40 on it? I'd probably only play it once, with my brother (a fellow Zelda fan, and the only one I know that would even remotely be willing to play Zelda Monopoly with me lol)

WHY!? Why can't I preorder it in Canada!? The website doesn't allow me to!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I will go to the eb games near my home and demand an explanation as to why! And if I am not satisfied and still can't get the game...

Someone will suffer greatly.

That someone being me.

@XFsWorld Re-introduce them to family game night. No Gamer should go without some old fashioned gaming in their lifetime. Plus it's good for the family, you're sitting around a table face to face and interacting. You have to put away the cellphones.

My family and friends love Monopoly. We've bought so many different Monopoly variations: Original, 50th Anniversary, Vegas, Shrek, Jr, Disney, World, Cities, Canada, The Walking Dead. Heck, I just bought Monopoly Empire last week!
So, it's no doubt I'm going to buy this on day 1.

Kinda cool but the main picture on the board looks a wee bit hodgepodged to me. I'm sure they could have done something that looked a bit more apt than just picking some random image of link from an instruction manual or whatever, along with the more rendered looking Zelda Logo, and slapping it on the centre of the board.

@Kyloctopus Ganon thought he could fool Link and Zelda by winning the triforce in a game of Monopoly, but fail terribly. Ended up sealed into the board game itself.

Quite late in the timeline where he was running low on ideas...

Our family still plays Monopoly from time to time and it's the same price as normal Monopoly here so I'd gladly buy it if it wasn't for paying 20€ more to get it shipped in Finland making it 50€ ($65). But even for that price it may still end up in my shelf. Have to think this through.

@BigH88 I'm a big fan of boardgames. I love playing them. I played Monopoly a lot when I was younger, but it always takes about an hour too long and someone decides to quit. Plus, when a player loses, the game can still go on for hours, leaving that person to watch Monopoly, the only thing worse than playing. One of my brothers is always defending the game, but I despise it. Definitely one of my most disliked games. But if you like it, more power to you! The Zelda version does look nice.

@JaxonH - "do I wanna spend $40 on it?"

Glad to see you say that, makes me feel better thinking I wanted it right away, but for $25. It's a $15 board game, that would still be a $10 mark-up for licensing. My kid paid $15 for Mario chess on clearance at Target and that has lots of of cool pre-amiibo figures.

I wish they would do this with other board games besides Monopoly. I already have 3 editions of Monopoly (Basic, ESPN, Nintendo). I don't need a 4th. Link could have been a good clone for like Risk, only with a different board layout.

He's got more talent in funny goop in his bones than the AVGN, but ultimately he lacks charm, he's not interesting at all when he's not in character and his newer episodes are weak. :P He started off strong, but eh. I could watch anything with James rolfe in it.

True, but it took longer for the AVGN to plummet. Talking classics got stale in a little over a year. The guy started promoting all of this crap, merchandise and creating all of these unfunny characters, trying to get his next big break in the commercial/movie biz. he over did it. heck he's still over doing it. His keith Appicary character isn't even that funny anymore...he's going way too over the top with it now. :P

As for the AVGN, he was the b-bomb during 06-07' he lost his mojo after the amazing Bible games episode. He was at his peak imo with the friday the 13th halloween special. that was easily his all time greatest Nerd vid. These days, he doesn't feel like he's trying that much anymore and he's lost his youthful nerdy look which made him funnier...Now he just looks like some tired boring dude in his mid 30's. :P

@Phantom_R Seriously! What's up with exclusive cards and pieces now??

Also, if the Ocarina is a GameStop exclusive piece, and Monopoly is 2-6 players, what does the 6th player use if you buy it somewhere else? Ridiculous.

After the problems I had with the Wind Waker special edition being a GS exclusive, I really wish Nintendo would stop dealing with them only. Bad for business and consumer relations IMO.
