Best Buy Gearing Up For Enticing Buy One Get One Free 3DS Game Promotion

Posted by Thomas Whitehead

Starts 20th July, deals on 3DS XL, Wii U Pro Controller and Remotes, too

Now over three years old, the 3DS has amassed an impressive library of games, including plenty developed and/or published by Nintendo. For those still gradually building collections, or perhaps only now jumping into 3DS ownership, there's plenty of choice.

Best Buy shoppers in North America — let's assume it's US stores at this stage — may want to head down to a local store from 20th July, as it's running a buy one get one free deal on some excellent 3DS games, listed below.

In addition, the Mario & Luigi 3DS XL bundle will be reduced to $169.99 from $199.99. The Wii U Pro Controller will be $20 off at $29.99, while Wii Remote Plus controllers ($39.99) will come with a $10 gift card (Update: this gift card isn't included with the Wii U Pro Controller, as originally stated).

Are you tempted by any of these deals?

The only game I can say I want is Bravely Default. Either I have the rest or don't care about them. I'd probably just get another Pokemon copy. I really wish Animal Crossing was included. I'd love a second copy.

Joalro said:

Dear... God. you NEVER get deals like this on Nintendo games.

For the love of any being who has control in this universe, allow this to come to Canada!

Things I might pick up:

Bravely Default
Tomodachi Life
Kirby Triple Deluxe
Yoshi's New Island
Mario Golf
Mario Party

brewsky said:

Or I can ad match at Walmart or Target, since they're both closer to me.

brewsky said:

Also, the Pro controller does NOT come with the $10 gift card, only the Wii Remotes do.

NintyMan said:

Looks like I might finally be able to get Mario Golf after all. I'm torn between Disney and Yoshi for my free game, though, and I may even consider Bravely Default, though I don't know if I'm up for an RPG right now.

kingston589 said:

Does anyone know if i could price match an amazon price and then still get the buy one get one?

DarkCoolEdge said:

That's awesome. I would get Pokemon Y and Kirby Triple Deluxe. Too bad we're not getting something like this in Europe.

Retro_on_theGo said:

So many games I want on this list. Except you Tomodachi Life, ew.
When does this deal end?

XFsWorld said:

I would buy Zelda A Link Between Worlds and get Kirby Triple Deluxe, but Best Buy is so darn far..

Shepdawg1 said:

Does anyone know if we can purchase download codes of these games and have the deal still apply?

King47 said:

I don't mind getting pokemon y, but there aren't any games on the list that I want and don't have. The pro controller is tempting. I have one at time, but I don't have friends that play games. I'll have to think about it. I'm going to pre-order a bunch of games this week, so I need to watch my money.

OdnetninAges said:

Yesss! It includes Tomodachi Life and Bravely Default!

I hope I'll be able to take advantage of this...

bofis said:

So wait, does that mean the WiiU Pro Controllers are $30 AND you get a $10 rebate, or are they $40, but effectively $30 because you get the $10 card?

rjejr said:

My birthday is July 20th and I have been suggesting to Nintendo a 3DS XL $30 price drop to $169 is due. Might be time. Are we sure only the games in the ad are on sale, I could sure go for some FE:A abut now? Or Luigi's Mansion 2. My kids already have Kid Icaurs, Dream Team, Kirby Triple Deluxe and I think they might have save slots available. Though Link and Bravely Default seem like a really nice pair.

Oh, and if anybody can't wait until Sunday Target has the 3DS XL for $175.00. It says black, blue red or pink. Maybe I'll just go there, my 5% more than makes up for the $5 difference. I think I might have to go buy 1 tomorrow.

Mega719 said:

I guess I'll finally get Pokemon Y and Tomodatchi Life then but I wish they spreaded out more we need 3rd parties

Gerbwmu said:

I may have to add to my 3DS library and pick up a 2nd pro controller . Then again I will be on vacation so I may miss out completely

Webby-sama said:

I'll be picking up Kirby Triple Deluxe and something else. Maybe give Tomodachi Life a shot.

SethNintendo said:

Was thinking about getting a pro controller and now I might actually have to buy something from Best Buy (it has been awhile since I shopped there).

dkxcalibur said:

Wow, these are great deals. Unfortunately I own too many games that I've yet to play and I don't have enough time to play them. So as much as I hate to pass this up, I'm going to.

SuperPokefan95 said:

I was not expecting this kind of deal to pop up. I guess now I can finally get Kirby: Triple Deluxe & Bravely Default. Very excited.

ValiantPixel said:

But I have no money left...and I'm saving up for Smash Bros. and Alpha Sapphire I have to make it work somehow! Kirby Triple Deluxe and Tomodachi Life shall be mine!

Spoony_Tech said:

Pro controller might as well be 20 if it comes with a 10$ gift card. I can definitely find something else to buy at a later date.

Samurairu said:

@Joalro Tell me about it. I would have been buying eshop cards out the whazoo if we were getting the promo's like in the US and not to mention how we are getting gouged on the eshop price wise now with pricing 10+% higher than the US for no explicable reason as the dollar has not been that far below for years and is currently around 6%. It's the beauty of living in a country 10x's smaller than the US which no one cares about.

Blaze8937 said:

This is a great sale time to finally buy an xl for smash and a couple other games

Spoony_Tech said:

@ThomasBW84 I'm not so sure that the pro controller comes with the 10$ gift card. It's lumped in the same picture yes but it actually doesn't say it does.

Gerbwmu said:

@samurairu - I care about Canada......because you have better beer then we do.......and I quite enjoy vacations to the north.

GalacticMario28 said:

This sounds like a great deal, but I don't think there's a Best Buy anywhere near me. That makes it harder to take advantage of this deal. I'd love to pick up Bravely Default and Kirby: Triple Deluxe.

Hy8ogen said:

@Raghav Nope. Look closely at the flyer, it says When the US gets it does not mean we get them as well unfortunately. There has been past deals that happened in the US, but did not happen in Canada.

I once walked into the bestbuy canada thinking the we got those deals as well. I came out disappointed

VIIIAxel said:

Oh wow, this is really tempting! I'm already trying to save up for the games coming later this year, this really isn't helping. Tomodachi Life, Yoshi, Link Between Worlds, and Bravely Default all look very tempting.

FragRed said:

And this is the reason why living in the UK sucks. Can you imagine anyone over here doing anything like that? Even our so called 'Sales' aren't much more than small decrease in pricing on Nintendo first party.

timtimdaunholy said:

there are a lot of good deals, ive been dragging my feet on some of those 3ds games. ill probably pick up 4 and maybe another pro controller

tiger47 said:

I would get Tomodachi Life and get eith The Lengend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds or Mario Party: Island Tour free.

2Sang said:

Will be picking up zelda + Yoshi's island along with a pro controller

Mint_Pepper said:

The ad doesn't say the Pro Controller gets the gift card, only the wii remotes. I will be picking up the controller either way to prepare for smash bros.

Epicnessofme99 said:

I'll probably end up getting Yoshi's New Island and Mario Golf, I have all of the other games and to get both at 20$ each that's a steal. I'll also probably pick up some wiimotes and another pro controller with those deals.

Discostew said:

If I wasn't pressed for cash, I'd possibly get Bravely Default and Tomodachi Life.

Darkness3131 said:

Wow. I might actually spring for this since I'm only missing my eventual Pro Controller and two games on that list. I was just planning on leaving the leftovers until Christmas and saving, but maybe I'll get in on this deal if it comes my way.

brewsky said:

@ToyfareMark I know Walmart does, because I've done it before. They ad match buy one get ones that feature a specific price, like buy one get one for $10. They do not ad match buy one get one XX% off, like buy one get one 50% off. But, since buy one get one free features a specific price (free), you can ad match it!

xInsomniax said:

I'll buy Kirby for myself and get Mario Golf for the gf as she watches me play and is jealous. I'll also get the Pro Controller because I've been wanting one and I need another Wiimote for friends when they are over. Great upcoming week for me!

IcyWolfosKelsos said:

Really thinking about hopping on that Pro Controller. I always have been wanting one but never wanted to drop a good amount of money for the controller. I am also tempted to get Bravely Default, and maybe Kirby. Not exactly sure.

Ryu_Niiyama said:

pro controller, kirby, yoshi tomodachi, and either mario party or the disney game.
This is why I have no money.

liavcol said:

Will we be able to just order the games online? I don't live in the USA and I want to buy the games and ship it to my aunt who lives there. I want The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Yoshi's New World so badly...

Tasuki said:

Thinking I might pick up the Pro controller and maybe Braverly Default and the Disney game.

Dpishere said:

Too bad it isn't an online deal as far as I know... My money is waiting to be spent but there are no Best Buy's within an hour's drive at the least.

HyperSonicEXE said:

I should be all over ALBW and Triple Deluxe.
But the plots are so paper thin and missable, I can't justify the money.

J-Manix98 said:

I have all the games I want out of that selection already. And I literally just found a Wii U pro controller at GoodWill (10 bucks baby!) So I think I'll pass this time. I may know a few people who might be interested though.

maceng said:

I always keep an eye open for the Nintendo Online Store. I bought a Pink 3DS for my daughter for 95 bucks, and a Pink 3DSXL for my wife (her first console!!) for 130, and both were in perfect shape. I usually wait for new stuff to arrive to order (they had black and red 3DSXL and only purple 3DS) so as to minimize the risk of buying returned stuff with too many cosmetic imperfections.

J-Manix98 said:

I played the demo for Tomodachi Life, And thought it was extremely boring. And I typically enjoy sims like this. Animal crossing, Harvest moon, Those are great. But Tomodachi Life (as far as the demo goes anyway) was really boring.

maceng said:

I found that a better deal. I will go for Bravely Default (surely at 40 bucks) and either Disney Magical World or another copy for my son of Mario Golf. So in USA will pay more than in Canada.

rjejr said:

@maceng - Thanks for the advice, but I can't buy used handhelds, I don't know where they've been, literally.

gregrout said:

There's 3 games there I don't have, Kirby, Yoshi and Mickey Mouse. The only game there that mildly enticing is Kirby.

springNexxis said:

And just as I was thinking about buying FE:A. This deal is too heavenly to pass up.

Edit: It's also my little brother's birthday party this weekend, and he's been wanting Tomodachi Life. Looks like he's getting more than he asked for.

Nintendofan83 said:

Any confirmation on this coming to Canada? I need to know if i'm taking a day trip across the border not! =P. I think i'll pick up Tomodachi Life and either get Pokemon Y or ALBW because I got a digital copy of it with my Zelda 3ds XL but there is something about having the physical copy for a collection.

ShadJV said:

Must not forget, must not forget, must not forget...

And wow I was tempted with that 3DS (I need an XL and want a good special edition one) but I have Dream Team already... I'll continue to pray to Palutena for a Smash one, Nintendo will auto win my money then!

NodesforNoids said:

Mario Wiimote, Pro Controller.
The games would be tempting, I just need a new 3DS.
Shopper's Drug Mart, for the jealous Canadians, regularly discounts the 3DS / XL. 170$ was the discount of late.

NodesforNoids said:

As a side note, Best Buy Canada is a bit slow. As this run of sales wouldn't start until Sunday, the weekly flyer usually terminates on Thursdays with new ads going out on Fridays. So the deal may apply, we just don't get the same sort of notice.
This week, anyone into AC may want to check out BB Canada early. A few others are 20$, with ACIV being the newest and most notable.

alLabouTandroiD said:

If these were € prices and coming to a store near me i'd definitely bite with Tomodachi Life and Bravely Default or Mario Party: Island Tour. A black Wii U Pro Controller for 30€ i couldn't resist either.

datamonkey said:

Wow, being from the UK, I am currently very envious of this promotion...

Get buying NA peeps!

Pillowpants said:

Hope they do something similar in Europe. I need more Pro Controllers for my Wii U in preparation for Smash Bros with friends.

Nintendzoey said:

Not only do we not get Disney Magical World in Australia, now people in NA can even get it for free? That would be right. Once again if you live in Australia, no good news for you. Not that there ever is.

Naoiko said:

If this is true and it runs at the Best Buy near us (and they aren't out of stock) I'll probly try and get two copies of Tomodachi life. I've got the rest of the games I want out of that list already, and that way both my husband and myself could get the game for the price of one.

Froggievilleus said:

I hope to get Yoshi and Kirby along with the white controller. Here's hoping that Best Buy gets inventory for this ad.

Wanderhope said:

I have Gamer's Club Unlocked (20% off all games) which stacks with deals like this so essentially I can get Bravely Default and Kirby for $32... that is insane.

I need extra controllers too, so now may be the time to go on a ill-advised spending spree.

Jakeman said:

Yes, it is a little unfair that Australians are treated so poorly. We would never get a sale like this one. Not only our games nearly always overpriced, we also end up getting most of the games either very late or not at all (for example Disney Magical World is one game [in this sale] that has still not been localised over here).

MikeLove said:

I've bought 3 refurbished wiimotes from Nintendo and am extremely pleased. They have obviously been meticulously cleaned, and the d-pads (if not all the buttons) are fresh replacements. Not a single mark or fingerprint on any of them, and if I didn't know where they came from I would think they were brand new.

I think your are pretty safe germ-wise if you buy anything refurbished from them.

rjejr said:

@Beetlejuice - Oh, it's not a rational germophobia I admit. Just more of a squeamish thing. I suppose if the only way I could get something was used I would do it, but the extra few $ are worth it not to wonder if the reason it was refurbished is become somebody dropped it into their toilet after they had just gone. Or worse (think pron)

Nintendofan83 said:

I called my local branch in Vancouver/Burnaby and they had no idea about the sale. I told them about the flyer and they said Best Buy is actually a different company in different countries and not all promo's carry over. The girl on the phone put me on hold to ask a few other people and no one had heard of the sale I was talking about. However, the lady on the phone went on to mention they have current sales on that end July 17th so it's entirely possible they aren't talking about the new sale until the old one (centred around the World Cup) ends in a few days. She recommended calling back on 19th or 20th. FINGERS CROSSED. I want a Pro controller, too

rockodoodle said:

I think I'm going to get a pro controller, then A link between worlds, Mario Party Island tour, Bravely default and Tomogachi life.....

WindWakerLink said:

Not when, but how long will this sale last? Is it just only for July 20th?? I didn't see it in the article or picture...

Naoiko said:

Best buys sales seem to go from Sunday till Saturday night. So I'd guess the sale will run from the 20th till the 26th.

Nestalgic said:

Kirby for $34.99 and Mario Golf for $29.99... together about $38 including tax. I'm good with those at $19 a piece.

Luffy said:

This better come to Canada PLZ PLZ PLZ doggiepoopledooplepoopoo PLZ

I want some games and a Pro controller

crimsonbolt said:

Is this a store only deal or is it available online as well? My closest best buy is miles away.

Benjelo said:

I would love to get Bravely Default but I don't see any other games on there that interest me too much. Tomodachi life looks interesting and so does Kirby triple delx but there both kid of meh for me

ChrisT99 said:

EDIT: To answer the other questions about this yes, you can price match and get the BOGO.

Dudemario89 said:

*crosses my fingers, I hope this comes in Canada! Well...I already have all those 3DS games and the wii remotes but I REALLY WANT DAT WII U PRO CONTROLLER!

Naoiko said:

Just picked up Tomodachi Life and Pokemon Y for the hubby. WOOOO! Thank you Nintendo Life for alerting me to this.

Nintendofan83 said:

I called here in Vancouver and they said no, they aren't doing the deal. However, they said I could buy Pokemon Y for $5 off haha. If you can get across the border, they have the deal.

Aerona said:

Well, first day of the sale and none of the stores in my state have Bravely Default or Triple Deluxe in stock... Walmart won't ad match either. I can't even order them online, 'cause they're only available for in store pick up. Apparently there won't even be any coming in really. I'm so frustrated with Best Buy, this whole thing has been a big waste of time.

Nintendofan83 said:

Buy your gas over the border hehe. There is a Best Buy about 1 hour over the border so I may go and check it out but I'm only interested in Pokemon Y and a pro controller. I have the others already. Canada rarely, if ever, gets deals like this. I agree, games are always a bit more expensive over the border.

Spartacus3765 said:

Either Best Buy carried an extremely low quantity on hand at each store, or this was an amazing success for Nintendo's sales in terms of units shipped. BB customer service rep said they're basically sold out everywhere.

ZachBeacon said:

...and it doesn't work online. It says one game is free until you get to the checkout and both are full price. Urgh!

Tornadowing said:

I am trying to buy it online. It said no delivery= = I only came to USA couple days. And it is not available in many stores....sigh
