Nailed it, but allow me to stick my two cents on before I go. I live in Utah (COMBO BREAKER!) and I think last year we had like maybe one Best Buy do the Smash Event. So in all honesty while I was hyped, I kinda expect disappointment as video game fan in SLC, its not a huge city by any stretch of the imagination, but we could get the bone thrown our way occasionally!!! So yes, while a little disappointing, I will live. And who knows??? Maybe if this one is a huge success in those 8 areas, maybe we'll see a much larger one next year. Seriously people, we need a little less doom and gloom around here!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Nintendo's E3 Focus to Reportedly be on Wii U ...:

Just like they said they would! As much as the Wii U need some more stuff to fluff up the end of the year now that Zelda is (likely) a Spring 2016 game, but the 3DS needs a push into early next year. As much as many people would like to think (and hope) that the NX will be a Wii U successor I have feeling the NX is a handheld and that the next console will be announced shortly after the NX is relived to be a handheld (probably late 2016, maybe early 2017). The 3DS has reached saturation, and with some more Pokemon, a 3D Land sequel, maybe a...Metroid or F-Zero to spur necessary hyper-hype-mode and perhaps another surprise or two, the 3DS can make to 2017. The Wii U...even though it isn't selling great and is really, really in trouble when it comes to games it could (only if Nintendo keeps pushing through) make it to 2018. But we shall see....we shall see what happens, because in all honesty, I haven't a clue what comes next.

HandheldGuru97 commented on Ninterview: Jeremy Parish On Cataloguing The H...:

I've been following Gameboy World since last summer and it is easily one of my favorite video game sites out there (sorry Nintendo Life!) As a handheld gamer, huge fan of the Gameboy and a historian his work has been simply incredible to find and read. Mr Parish is easily one of the best video journalists. There just isn't much love for that diminutive Gray Brick (although it is much easier to play all the games on a Light or Color, no motion blur and much more portable!) so I'm glad to see this project exist and actually have a huge passion behind it. I'll be picking up his book here soon and a classic Nintendo Gameboy Players Guide, for some good old Gameboy literature!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Hardware Classics: Sega Dreamcast:

I may be a 'HandheldGuru" but once upon a time (a year and a half ago) I said to myself, "The Dreamcast is always highly praised, but is it really that good or just super over rated???" Well I bought a Dreamcast for $30 with Sonic Adventure and Virtua Tennis and now 10 games later, yes ladies and gentlemen, the Dreamcast is easily the greatest console ever. What a fantastic unit, the games are some of the zaniest, craziest and greatest games ever to come out of the late 90's early 00's. The hardware, while showing its age now, still holds up to this day! What an excellent kit and excellent article. Folks, get yourself a Dreamcast, like the article says they're dirt cheap now...but I highly doubt they'll stay that way for much longer.

HandheldGuru97 commented on Review: Kuru Kuru Kururin (Wii U eShop / Game ...:

Just found this little gem at a local gamestore here in the states! What a great little GBA gem, simply charming, quirky and a blast to play. I hope NOA will give this little one a chance on the Wii U VC (doubt it, but I can dream right??? ;) ) I can (sadly) understand why NOA passed on it back in the day. Little odd...but man guys...we really missed out!!!!!!!

LEGO BTTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahem....big (like really big) BTTF fan here and while it isn't a full 'Lego Back to the Future' game...that Level Pack alone has me super hyped and super interested in this game!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Review: Story of Seasons (3DS):

Well, your not the only one with the shriveled up back! Mine doesn't (at least to the best of my smelling ability), smell like that so that is a little weird....huh. It is really annoying, just curious but did you order it from Amazon??? Mine came through Amazon so I wonder if it was a problem on their end...

HandheldGuru97 commented on Review: Story of Seasons (3DS):

Just got my my copy, Spring Break is going to be fantastic! The plushie is super cute too. Little smaller than I thought it'd be, but hey I can't complain. Xseed, did a great job with RF4, so I have high expectations for SoS

HandheldGuru97 commented on Poll: Vote For Your Ten Must-Play Games On Nin...:

Alrighty the Guru is back and here is my Top 10 3DS as of March 27, 2015
(Note this is not in any particular order...picking the position for these games...shudders...that would take moons)

Animal Crossing New Leaf: My most played 3DS clocking in at well over 230 hours, a beautiful game, sooooooooooooo much replay value and excellent online features I'd safely say it is my favorite 3DS of all time if it weren't for...
Rune Factory 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: The fact alone that this game is missing is an insulting!!!!! (JK @ThomasBW84, I think this download online in Europe)
So the graphics aren't great, but the art style is cute and charming the farming mechanics are simply divine, the little voice clips are so cute, did I mention the art style?!?!?!? Man I love this game...heck the ending even made me tear up a little, count this as a vote for (what I'd say) is the best 3DS game.
Ahem...moving forward;
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between World's: was it a little easier thanks to the rental system? Yup, but man oh malley what a game, great characters, soundtrack and the art style is charming. The best Zelda of the 3 on the 3DS.
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon (2): One of my personal favorites, Luigi is a charming counter balance to Mario and frankly LMDM has some of the best 3D effects in any 3DS game, a must buy
Mario Golf: World Tour: Winning today's award for most under appreciated 3DS ever, Mario Gold WT, flew right under everybody's radar (likely due to the disappointment of Mario Tennis: Open), this one is a perfect golf game
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire: One of my favorite Pokémon games remade in glorious 3D (kinda :P), while I haven't played it nearly as much as I thought I would, Hoenn is remade beautifully and the Delta Episode is one of the most intriguing twists to the Poké-Lore in years.
Super Mario 3D Land: I honestly don't care how much hate I'll get for saying this but...this the best portable Mario game, ever. The graphics, the 3D effect, its easy, yes, but so well crafted and oozing in charm left and right another must buy!
Damnit!!!!!!!! How'd I already get to seven???? I have like five more games that I could fit into my top 10!!!!!
Fantasy Life: I've been waiting for this game for 5 years! And it was sure worth the wait, covered in that Level 5 charm I've comes to expect and love from them. Its a blast to play and its wealth of content will keep me coming back for more for many moons to come
Kid Icarus: Uprising: Yup I'm old enough to remember the 3DS's 1st "true" Killer App and it was a great one, great story with excellent characters and some of the best online on the 3DS, still looks stunning all these years later
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call: The first Theatrhythm, was great, this one??? Its unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!! More content is jammed on that little cart than ever before and it really is the best soundtrack from any video game series and then you top it off with some Chrono Trigger?!???!?!?!/!!
Honorable mentions go to: Mario Kart 7, Fire Emblem Awaking, Pokémon X, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Super Smash Bros. For 3DS, Pilotwings Resort, Kirby: Triple Deluxe (plenty of great games up there, but hey if it were a top 20 they wouldn't be honorable mentions!!!!)
Happy Birthday 3DS! Here to as many more as you got! :)

HandheldGuru97 commented on Poll: Vote For Your Ten Must-Play Games On Nin...:

Jesus...four years, huh? That means this E3 it'll have been 5 years since the 3DS was announced, damn...getting old aren't we??? Like many above me have said the 3DS is my favorite Nintendo handheld and, dare I say it as a HandheldGuru, the greatest handheld of all time. Give me a few minutes folks...I'll get back to you on my top 10 soon (this may take a while...)

HandheldGuru97 commented on Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Edition Bundle La...:

Hoho!!!!!!! I've been looking forward to this pack, glad to see it'll only be $30. I know some won't jump on it because its a "match 3" game, but 20 some years ago, no hell 10 years ago these games did in fact cost money. Of course they were easy to riddle with microtransactions we are now. :( But hey from what I've heard, no annoying pop ups or free-to-play mechanics will be popping up in either of these games :), so for $30??? I'm sold Ninty.

HandheldGuru97 commented on Review: Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. (3DS):

I've been having a difficulty getting hyped for any game as of late...:( Other Etrian Mystery Dungeon, I can't find any excitement for any game...then I read this review, the train is a little rusty, but hype mode engage!!!!!! I played a tiny bit of the demo a few weeks ago, I'll fire it back up later today or tomorrow and get Code Name S.T.E.A.M soon!!!!!!!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Chrono Trigger Turns 20, but is Ultimately Tim...:

Wowza, 20 years eh??? Crazy. I, like many others on here, got the DS version back in.......2009-10-ish....:P I can safely say, I hated JRPGs before Chrono Trigger, sure I had played Pokémon RPGs, but I just couldn't get into the Final Fantasy's, DQ's, Earthbound's and whatnot. Chrono Trigger changed everything 2010 was the year that I went on a Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy RPG run like no good times! Back in 2010 CT was fresh, stunning and beautiful, the story was specular, the God the music! The best soundtrack in a game, hands down. Easily one of my favorite DS games and one of my favorite games of all time. Might be time for another playthrough!!!

Also "Happy Boob Edition??????????????????????????"
.................................................................................................................................... :D :D :D :D I can't, I just can't! :D That is literally the greatest name for a limited edition form of media, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly us 'Merican's are getting the Double D Limited Edition, no happy boobies for us :( (at least not in the real world ;) ) Sounds like the US run will be a little limited (SHUSH!!!!!! Before "they" find out....), might be a wee bit over the top for me....but what the hell! I'll take a copy!
I'll pay in cash...can't have this on the how do I get this past mother??? hmmmm....

HandheldGuru97 commented on Review: Adventure Bar Story (3DS eShop):

I'd say thats about I expected, but I would give it an 8/10. For a tiny little $6 RPG, its fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lack of 3D aside, its a fun little gem that I been enjoying way more than I though I'd be! Not very handholding-y, but I like that a bit. Sure there are parts were I was confused as to what I needed to do, but after an hour I knew what I was doing. I really can't recommend it enough! Hell if it were still 2008, I'd have no problem dropping $30 for it on the DS (there'd need to be a bit more fleshing out needed mainly in the music/location areas), but in 2015 for $6, just lacking a wee bit??? Sold! Its a great little gem if you're hungry ;) for an cheap RPG on the 3DS, you won't get much better than this!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Nintendo Download: 26th February (North America):

Whoop, whoop!!!!!!!!!!! :) The Donkey Kong Land games! I'll probably, at the very least, grab DKL 1 and maybe 2...for those who don't know 3 got a GBC port in Japan and the cart actually doesn't cost to much, so I'll probably stick to that one for my GBC (when I find a cheap-ish US seller :P)

HandheldGuru97 commented on Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Fac...:

As Ron DelVillano said, "if you are living in North America and you do not want the New 3DS XL, then I encourage you not to purchase one. Show the company what you do and do not want through your support of their products, not by lashing out with petty attacks on social media." Boom. Easy as that I've seen countless droves of people who were going to get the Standard unit complain and attack Nintendo for not releasing the Standard unit and...guess what they all bought? Thats basically like going back into an abusive relationship, you get out for a while try and get it together and then, wham! Right back in and suffering under that same abuse as before. Because of those people Nintendo will likely never release the Standard New 3DS in the Americas! So I will stand firm for now, sure I'll get the HDSBoy when it comes out, but not on launch day and most certainly not if Nintendo pulls one like this over us again.

HandheldGuru97 commented on Nintendo Download: 19th February (North America):

Lookie here! What an excellent week! Jesus guys really, really??? (Maybe the cynicism of the internet is what makes me a cynic hmmm...investigation is needed...). Either lets see; a retail/download game THATS CHEAP! on the eShop as a major highlight, a SNES VC release, thats Shump!!! (which means I have to look into it :P), a handful of RPG/Rougelikes on the 3DS shop (Adventure Bar Story has been on my radar since they released early info on it), some DLC and Demos! Well to me, that looks pretty damn good, but who knows....maybe my standards are to low.... ;)

HandheldGuru97 commented on Review: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D ...:

@BenAV Raises hand I was born in '97 so no N64 here, I had a Gamecube, but it broke a decade ago, Wii VC I barely used and I did not have (nor will I ever) get the Wii Classic Controller and besides...N64 games have aged horribly. Muddy, dark, foggy, shoddy controls and just plain ugly. I also suppose you didn't notice my username...If Majora 3D wasn't coming to the 3DS I doubt I'd ever play and I am most certainly that are many more people simmilar to my case. Of course there will be those buying this for like 4th or 5th time, but I'd assume that they quite honestly love this game. And to have on a current gen, win! Still you don't need to get it, but let those who want it play it and enjoy. After all thats what games are for, right?

HandheldGuru97 commented on Review: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D ...:

All 3 3DS Zelda's hold a 10/10 on NintendoLife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoop, whoop! I'm excited for this one, don't have the money for it now...but its a March 1st purchase for sure! (Sorry S.T.E.A.M), while I wish I'd get to play it on a New 3DS Nintendo of America's decision is baffling and as such I'll be stuck on my old XL, but man oh man....this is gonna be great either way.

HandheldGuru97 commented on Club Nintendo Goes Rewards Crazy With Final Up...:

Welp, if theres a way to go out with a bang, Club Ninity has sure as hell has done it! Would love to get the calendar, but....what good would it be if I don't have a 3DS backlog that'll keep me hooked until 2017??? :P (Seriously I have got to stop downloading new games, I have like 5 I haven't even touched yet! :'() But Harmoknight and Ketzal's Corridors are for sure, and Dillon's Rolling Western, Fluidity: Spin Cycle and Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move are all on the radar. Might be time to dig through all my old DS games, should be a code or two hiding in there!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Talking Point: It's Time to Salute The Nintend...:

The following is brought HandheldGuru97's Nostalgic Memories! Nostalgia, one hell of a drug :P Anyway...XD
The 3DS.........what a ride this old girl has had. I still remember the day the 3DS was announced (officially) back at e3 2010, lordy has it been five years??? Yikes...I was sitting in the back seat of my Mom's 2007 GMC Acadia, freaking out as only a 12 year old could as I saw Animal Crossing, Kid Icarus, The Legend of Zelda, Pilotwings 3D, and Corbie's reaction to the 3D (which blew my mind!) oh those were the days. I managed to save up enough money and blew like $375+ (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) on the 3DS March 27, 2011. Launch games were Pilotwings Resort and Street Fighter IV 3D (man I wish I had held onto it...). The 3D feature, which I first saw on that small ass screen on bumpy car ride back to a friends house I was staying was it grand, even better than I had ever dreamed it being. I stuck by the 3DS in those early months, sure there was a lack of games, but Ridge Racer and Ghost Recon along those other two first games kept me busy (plus Pokémon Black was still new and was always close by). The Nintendo DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely got on me after a while, but I sure as hell didn't plan on blowing out that quickly, they had the games lined up, I just needed to wait and hope the 3DS made it. The price drop was a low blow (in my opinion at that time...but now I see why Nintendo did it), but hey I have never once complained about 20 free games, and (I am gonna get killed for saying this) I'm glad they never went and released those GBA games, I myself hoped that we as Ambassadors would get those game for and only for ourselves (selfish I know, I know, but the HDS-Boy will have GBA VC, guaranteed!) 2012 was a sluggish, yet grand year, KIU I was the highlight for me and I was able to resist the XL, at first. The 2013 happened. Year of Luigi? Nope more like the year of the 3DS. I grabbed an Xl and got Fire Emblem Awaking the day that XL showed up...lest just say the ride started there I wasn't off until January of '14! Fire Emblem, Etrain Odyssey IV, Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Lego City, Donkey Kong Country 3D, ANIMAL FREAKING CROSSING NEW LEAF(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), ahem, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Pokemon X & Y and A Link Between World's (and I know I missed plenty!!!!). 2014 was a quieter year, a good year though all in all.

So...what I am trying to say is, well, cheers 3DS, my favorite handheld, a game changer (literally) and what has cemented me as a Nintendo fan and lover for life. Ninty I'm mad as hell the small New 3DS ain't coming here for now...yet I hope my XL (and eventually, dammit, my New 3DS XL) will hold a few more years of Nintendo portable heaven. Cheers Nintendo and a slap on the back you crazy son of a gun, you made it, you made it. :)

HandheldGuru97 commented on Ocarina Of Time 3D Reportedly No Longer In Pro...:

Been to a few game stores as of late, Gamestop and a local chain store. Both Had OoT 3D used at $50 ($45 for members at the local store, so probably one of the better deals out there). But guys, guys...the game came out in 2011 2011 its been 4 years it likely been out of print for a while and we are only Just noticing because of Majora's impending re-release. So for those who are late adopters "You've (been) met with a terrible fate, haven't you" it is on the eShop and it does have a small file size. And for once...ITS CHEAPER ON THE ESHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P (Now you suckers can pay the same price that all us desperate 3DS owners back in '11 shelled out getting in cheap 'n easy now, eh!??!?!??!?! :P)

But whats more concerning....Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy is up to $50 as well...what the hell!??!?!?!? I usually get rewared with a great (but cheap) Layton game when I wait....ugh!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Feature: The Making of Wetrix and Its Route to...:

Ah! Wetrix...I have it on my Dreamcast (its called Wetrix+, basically an enhanced port/remake of the N64 original). One of my favorite little puzzle gems on a system with more gems than one can count! Definitely a product of its time...a 3D puzzler. Its sad, but a game like this wouldn't get created today. 3D gaming was brand new, a big deal, everything had to be 3D...even if it had never existed before! 2D was out the door, 3D was here to stay! (or so we all though) ;) This is one of those unique gems that didn't have a 2D counterpart, nor does it need too. I hope we'll see a revival of classical 3D styled games, with a little more polish than one could of dreamed back in the day :) (Seriously, N64 graphics have aged, really, really, really, badly :P)

HandheldGuru97 commented on Woah Dave! May Become a Real NES Cartridge Rel...:

I really enjoyed Woah! Dave. :) It was a fun little game, if you looking for something in the vain of Mario Bros. WD is easily the best by a mile. I'd get the NES long as the controls don't suck like NES Mario Bros. (shutters) Thank you NES Remix for saving me!

HandheldGuru97 commented on GAME is Selling a 2DS + Mario Kart 7 for £79.99:

@AVahne Excellent point. A lot of people having trying to use the 2DS as one of the main points why the USA isn't getting the New 3DS Standard, but yet fail to mention Europe or Australasia which have both the 2DS and New 3DS Standard...I'm assuming there are teens and young adults who want the New XL, but I for one (and likely many more) would like to have the smaller unit. I'll be going to college soon, and I was planning on taking my New 3DS Standard through it until at least 2018 or 2019 (at which point the 3DS's successor will be cheaper).
But to get back to the topic at hand...a 2DS for $80!??!?!?!??!?!??! I'd gladly get a transparent blue 2DS or Sea Green 2DS for that price!

HandheldGuru97 commented on Talking Point: The New Nintendo 3DS Could Be a...:

"I have been eagerly anticipating the release of the New 3DS in my territory.
Then the Nintendo Direct aired.
Nintendo of America made the announcement that it has decided to release the New Nintendo 3DS XL in North America, but there was absolutely no mention of the standard model. No mention of the model that provided extra portability and customizable faceplates. No mention of the model that is, for all intents and purpose, a handheld gamer's dream. NoA didn't confirm that I would never see the standard model, but the lack of a mention was alarming. In a word, I was heartbroken.
I'm not generally one to complain too publicly or too loudly, but Nintendo – a company that I have supported for as long as I can remember – really let me down. I couldn't imagine why the company would decide to release a console worldwide, then block North Americans access from enjoying the entire lineup."
@ThomasBW84 took those words straight from my mouth. I completely and whole heartily agree with you. The hype (the dare I say it), the high, that I was riding the night before planning what faceplates I was going to order, how I was going to order in middle of class! :P That all came crashing down with a strong feeling of disappointment. I was excited and then...whoosh. All gone :( Nintendo is a company I've stood behind, and this is a big-old stab in the back. Sure to them I am a nameless consumer, but one that owns every single Gameboy, every version (so far in the States) of the 3DS...that should count for something??? Right?? then you realize, I doesn't. Still as Thomas put it; "if you live in the states and want the smaller one, don't buy it" and that is what I plan to do. Nintendo next time you a new handheld around...I might wait on it, going have to be a real compelling sell to get back on board the day-one ship

Like the looks of the Super Mario amiibo's, if those are the final designs, wow. They'll look much better than the Smash ones. Not that I dislike the looks of the Smash amiibo's!!!!!!! These just look...cleaner more refined.

HandheldGuru97 commented on Reaction: Nintendo Direct Went Crazy With Reve...:

As a handheld gamer I am both pleased and disappointed. The Puzzles and Dragons Combo pack is a fantastic deal!!!!!! Majora, Monster Hunter 4U, and Ace Combat, in one day!?!?!?!?!??! Etrian Mystery Dungeon will make my April (as I'll probably still be waiting for my small New 3DS :'( ) But Xenoblade 3D that quick wowza! Lets all pray it isn't a Gamestop exclusive...again...(if it is I'll buy a copy just to be on the safe side...). And then Fire Emblem whoa, didn't see that coming. On the disappointment front...No normal New 3DS in the Americas is mind boggling, and horribly disappointing. As such I'm boycotting getting an XL until June or July, by that time E3 will have come to pass and the future of the New 3DS should be much clearer and maybe so will the fate of the Classic New 3DS for the West. Pokémon Shuffle is going up a dangerously slippery slope, but with Puzzles and Dragons...match three all included, I am going to be just fine passing it up. Other than that...nice news of the U front and more Splatoon is always a good thing. A; B- in my estimate, disappointingly satisfying, damn you Nintendo. ;)

HandheldGuru97 commented on Poll: Which is the Best Mario Kart Game?:

I've played quite a bit of Mario Kart...but man oh malley MKDS was fantastic. Mission Mode, Custom Decals for the front of your kart, easily the best tracks, especially the retro ones, one from each previous Kart game (that existed at the time which rounded out to a perfect 4!), some of the best local multiplayer on the DS this side of Pokémon! And hell I haven't even gotten to the online! (Which sadly I never used...for whatever reason could never get my DS to hook up :() MK8 though that would certainly come in 2nd...excellent track design and DLC that really is meaningful and multiplayer that rocks. Love me some Mario Kart, can be hard to choose, but DS will always be my fave.
