Jakeman commented on The NES Story Began On This Day 31 Years Ago:

I am 32 this year and had an Australian NES when I was a kid (it was actually my very first home console).
I still remember watching the movie "The Wizard" starring Fred Savage and finding out where the flute (warp zone flute) was hidden in SMB3.
My cousins [who are around the same age] also had an NES as well. We would always either play NES games together (since they lived close to us) or borrow them from each other. One of my cousins actually got the Battletoads game for his birthday one year (what a difficult game that was)!
Also the game cartridge would never stay in the system by itself. We used to have to hold the game down inside it with a battery. The same thing happened to my cousin's system as well. We also used to blow into the game cartridge if the game wasn't working.

Jakeman commented on Best Buy Gearing Up For Enticing Buy One Get O...:

Yes, it is a little unfair that Australians are treated so poorly. We would never get a sale like this one. Not only our games nearly always overpriced, we also end up getting most of the games either very late or not at all (for example Disney Magical World is one game [in this sale] that has still not been localised over here).

Jakeman commented on Nintendo Download: 10th July (Europe):

@Nintendzoey Yes, I think that Fantasy Life will be a great game. It does sound amazing.
I think some people may be hesitant to get the Disney Magical World game because it's a Disney game though. After reading the reviews and seeing some of the gameplay, it did look like a fun game.

@Nintendzoey
Make that another vote for Disney Magical World to be localised. Fantasy Life sounds good too. I also can't wait for the new Harvest Moon games either. Whatever they actually release over here, I am sure there will hopefully be something good soon.

Jakeman commented on Nintendo of Europe Adds Yoshi Backpack to Club...:

@Nintendzoey - Yes, I feel your pain about the games. The worst thing is that the 3DS is region locked so we can't even import the games anymore.
I think you are right about the backpack too. While it does look good, I think it's just a little too pricey. I already spent most of my stars on the hanafuda cards, diorama, soundtrack, hat and the premium cards.

Jakeman commented on Review: Hometown Story (3DS):

This game is not bad, it's certainly not the best game ever (not even close) but it is not terrible.
Although I probably would not have purchased it if Nintendo had released any other good games to the eShop recently. I have already played most of the other good games on there.

Probably won't get released in Australia or Europe. Nintendo just does not care about us other 3DS gamers anymore.
We have already missed out on Chibi-Robo's Photo Finder, Rune Factory 4 and Disney Magical World (and those are just the games [that I know of] that I thought would have been released just this year).

So is this only being released (in English) in North America? Any signs of an Australian or European release date. Or is this yet another game we will miss out on?
I don't know if I would be interested in this game personally but it would make a great Birthday / Christmas gift.

Jakeman commented on Club Nintendo Adds Some Awesome Premium Mario ...:

@Nintenjoe64 Unless you are in Australia, own a 3DS and download all your games. In Australia we get 200 stars for each game plus 200 extra stars for downloading them (so 400 for each game). Which means you only have to purchase 5 games to get 2000 stars (which is the asking amount for the cards). Not too bad.

Jakeman commented on Club Nintendo Adds Some Awesome Premium Mario ...:

Yes, I picked up these cards this morning.
After having so many stars on the Australian site for so long, I am now down to just a few hundred of them. I recently picked up the hanafuda cards, the Luigi diorama, the Mario hat and now these cards.
Now I am actually hoping that they don't update the catalog for some time. I never thought I would be thinking that! Nintendo sure does know how to surprise you.

Jakeman commented on This Amazing Luigi's Mansion 2 Diorama Is Now ...:

I tricked myself earlier this morning. I sometimes check out the items that people in Europe are able to get from their Club Nintendo. When I saw the diorama on the website, I thought that I must have accidentally gone to the EU website instead of the Australian one. When I looked at the web address, I realised that it actually was the Australian site. I then let out a loud victory cheer and hurriedly filled out my details. I had been waiting for this for months and Nintendo were as good as their promise. This makes up for missing the Luigi coin now. I can finally say that I think Club Nintendo is awesome.

Jakeman commented on Mario's Iconic Hat Is Now Available From Club ...:

I think it was added to the store at about midnight. I checked the Australian Club Nintendo site at around 11.55pm the hat wasn't on there, when I checked again 5 minutes later (midnight) it was.
I have been checking the site about 20 times a day recently. I am trying not to miss out on anything good that could be released (especially if they add the diorama). I don't want to miss out on anything else that may only stay on the site for all of 10 seconds... I am looking at you Year of Luigi coin.

@Schnedlick It just depends on what your preference is, it does not mean the diorama is not worth getting (I already know many people who think it will be). I thought you were interested in it when you ended by saying "supposing that we get it", though I guess you were just referring to Australia.

@Schnedlick If Nintendo is true to their word then we will be getting it. We received confirmation from Nintendo Australia that the dioramas will be put onto the Club Nintendo shop in early 2014 (though no exact date or price has been mentioned).
The question is though, how many are we getting and how long will that supply last? That is why we should not take our eyes off the store (if you want one), until they are released over here.

@Liam_Doolan Thanks mate, I really do want that diorama. I got excited when I saw that and it kind of made up for missing out on the Luigi coin.
Yes, I just decided to get the Hanafuda cards as well. I am wondering how long they will last for on the store, someone told me that Nintendo said they only have a limited quantity of those as well.

Jakeman commented on Club Nintendo Australia Receives Luigi Coin An...:

@Schnedlick I don't think it's fair that I (or anyone else) who is a loyal fan of Nintendo should have to resort to eBay. We hardly ever get anything in Australia and the only time we do it is gone in seconds. I know plenty of other people who would have liked the coin as well. It's just a shame that Nintendo did not have nearly enough to go around.
I would like to congrat the people who did want the coin and were lucky enough to pick one up though. Hopefully for countless others (including myself) who missed out, we will be able to get something good in the future - maybe the diorama?

I couldn't believe it! I always try to check the Club Nintendo website daily (just in case it has gets an update, which it never seems to). I had work today but as soon as I got home, I looked at my emails and saw "Club Nintendo Australia gets an update".
When I saw it was a Luigi coin, I got excited. I hurried to the website and they were already all gone (in such a short time)... (I collect coins, so this would have been my ideal reward). I was shattered. :(
I had almost 100,000 stars, so I bought the Hanafuda cards anyway (although I have no idea what Hanafuda is, other then Nintendo's history with the cards).
I don't know how much the diorama will be when it releases but from now on I am going to check the Club Nintendo site (100 times if need be) every day, just to make sure I do not miss out on it. I should be back up to 8000 stars soon, hopefully that will be more than enough for it.

Jakeman commented on Europe Now Receiving Club Nintendo Stars For A...:

Australian gamers always seem to get the short end of the stick. I have been a member of Club Nintendo since it first opened in Australia. However, there has NEVER been anything worth getting (no matter how many stars you have).
Europe is able to get the 'Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack' and the 'Super Mario Characters Figurine' with their stars, I would love to be able to get either of those. However, if Australians want them, our only option is to spend money on eBay. I don't buy games to get rewarded, but it's a shame that very loyal Australian Nintendo gamers don't also get the same perks. :(
