dkxcalibur commented on Mario History: Mario Party - 1998:

Here we are 10 games later. We've come a long way from the original Mario Party game that was actually fun to play with friends to the current Mario Party 10 that is almost not a game. Actually, Mario Party 10 is the only Wii U retail title that I own that I would trade in @ Gamestop.....if it weren't for the fact that my youngest old son loves it.

@amiiboacid Mario Party 10, "in my opinion", is not a good game. It's almost not a game. I have fond memories of playing the first couple Mario Party Games with friends because each person rolled their own dice and moved their own piece. There were branching paths and different directions you could move in. Finally, most of the mini games were skill based. In Mario Party 10, everyone moves together??? There is absolutely no strategic values present; and a lot of the mini games are brainless-luck based games. We were excited about the Amiibo Party boards until we found out that the boards are simple and there's no real major change from each character's boards except cosmetically. My youngest son loves Mario Party 10, he's almost 6. My oldest son, he's 9, was disappointed and bored after playing it a handful of times.

From what I have seen of the AC:AF game so far, there appears to be even less gameplay in this then in Mario Party 10. The couple of videos or gameplay footage that I saw, show players rolling dice, moving on a board, and then receiving a message. I did not see mini games??? I'm concerned about the depth I guess. The board looks good, and I do like the "each turn is a day" concept.

....But I hope you're right and it's similar to Monopoly. I didn't see that comparison but I hope you're right.

No interest. I'm not a fan of Animal Crossing. Also, I'm staying as far away as possible from "party" games since Mario Party 10 was released. Amiibo Festival looks like less of a game then Mario Party 10 did which is bad.

I don't understand why you would post your intentions on the internet if you were planning something as horrible as this?

The gun situation is a problem with no answers. The government would not be able to rid the country of guns, and even if they did, people would find other ways. A car going 80+ mph could do a lot of harm to people too and we do little to regulate who gets a license. Drunk driving kills waaaay more people then guns do too, but I still see countless empty bottles and cans thrown on the side of the road when I run. My point, it takes but just a few losers to ruin it for everyone else. It's sad.

I'll believe this news when I see them on shelves. However, the amiibos listed are some of the ones we wanted day one but never saw....Captain Falcon was originally one of the only Amiibos I wanted, and my oldest son had Little Mac as his #1 item on his Christmas list, he's also fan of Animal Crossing; and I'm all in on Splatoon so this is great if it's true...........and by true, I mean more then 3 per store.

dkxcalibur commented on Nintendo 2DS Drops To $99 In North America:

Like everyone else, I thought it was already $99 in store. About a year ago I started to think about buying a 3rd 3DS system for the family. We already owned 2 XL systems, a blue one that belonged to my oldest son and a Mario & Luigi Silver one that my youngest son and I shared. I was going to get a 2DS for my youngest son....but ultimately bought myself a "new" 3DS and gave him the silver XL. I think the thing that always steered me clear of the 2DS is the fact that it doesn't have the clam shell design that we like.

This article sums up my thoughts exactly. I remember my friends and I drawing Mario levels during free-time at school. One of those unlucky friends was not permitted to have video games in his house and he was one of the most passionate about our drawings......where ever he is, I hope he picks up this game when it comes out.

I usually download everything, however this is one game that I will be purchasing in it's physical form. We want an actual book and not something we print or look at on a screen. I'm still hoping that we get the Amiibo bundles as well.

I also can't believe people thought this would be cheaper? However, the digital version should be cheaper this time around because the lack of a physical included book.

dkxcalibur commented on Nintendo Not Looking To Churn Out Yearly Seque...:

@ikki5 I think you're right about a few games but wrong about others. While the subject/characters may be the same, the type of games are completely different. For example, Hyrule Warriors and Windwaker are completely different genres of games. They only share characters. Actually, I feel that 3D World is completely different type of game then New Super Mario Bros. U.

When Activision, EA, and Ubi are pumping out COD, Madden, and AC every year, they are new stories/characters/rosters but they are basically the same game every year with minor improvements or tweaks to the same formula. I think that by Nintendo not cranking out Kart or Smash every year, it remains fresh. I loved the 360 but a lot of the series for that system got stale for me. Gears, Rock Band, COD, AC, Batman, even Bioshock just seemed like the same games over and over again. Nintendo does it too, just not as much as the other companies and I respect that about them.

dkxcalibur commented on Disney Infinity Sales Struggling To Maintain M...:

The market is over-saturated. The "toys to life" genre is going to see a similar fate as the guitar hero/rock band type games. The problem is that they pump these out every year! These companies want their money now and they don't care about the long term. We really enjoyed the first game for the same reason many others have already pointed out. We also bought the second game but disliked if for the same reason others have already pointed out. At the moment, there is no interest in number 3....even though it is Star Wars.

I own them both for the 360. I played through the first season but lost interest after that. It was good, but it's something about the "point & click" type adventure game genre that I get bored with. I think my love of the TV show carried me as far as I got in the game.

dkxcalibur commented on Movie Review: Pixels Proves Once Again That Vi...:

I saw this movie last week. Let me start by saying that I had free passes, and I have two young sons. From the first moment I saw the trailer, I had no interest in seeing this movie, but we treated my sons to a movie and this is what they picked, surprisingly over Minions, Ant-man, and Inside Out. Anyways, I had very very low expectations but I have to be honest. It wasn't the worst film ever in my opinion. It's not going to win an Oscar....everyone knows that! But it wasn't the worst movie ever like everyone is saying it is. It's unrealistic even beyond the obvious unrealistic story line and stuff doesn't always make sense but it's good as a brainless fun watch.....like watching some cartoons on TV. This seems like a movie that is easy for everyone to trash but everyone will watch when it comes out on DVD or to movie streaming services.

After trying Monster Hunter on the Wii and not liking it, I reluctantly gave the series another try in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I'm now sitting around 100 hours and I can't wait for X to come to NA.....I might be done playing MH4U by then!

Did I miss something, is there already a Dipper figure? I like watching Gravity Falls with my sons but there are some serious classics on that list. Robin Hood! Captain Hook & Pan! Goofy! I personally liked the other Disney cartoon shows better then Darkwing, like Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, Ducktails, & Tailspin. As far as newer characters go, I think it would be cool to have a WALLE figure.

dkxcalibur commented on Players Reached Splatoon's Level Cap So Fast T...:

I must be the only person on here that actually thinks the "experience levels" are pointless? The only thing they do is enable the player to purchase a certain weapon upon reaching a new level. There are other ways that they could have done this. They could have done it with weapon specific achievements. Like 20 wins with the .52 Gal unlocks the .52 Gal Deco; or covering a specific amount of area with the Splat Roller unlocks the Ink Brush.
