Per each generation, I usually pick one system and ride it out until the next generation arrives. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to have two or three systems but sometimes it's just one. I bought the Wii U about a year and a half ago and I have absolutely no regrets. How can you have regrets with Super Mario 3D World, Smash, Kart, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Toad, Kirby, and with games like Xenoblade, Yoshi, Star Fox, & possibly Zelda on the way? It would be awesome to get some third party support but it's not going to happen now, but I'm content with what is out and what is coming out. I couldn't honestly justify buying a PS4 or XBONE at the moment. If you have them, awesome; but for me, I couldn't justify buying another more expensive system to play 3-6 games.

After looking over the details on the NA site, I stumbled upon the wording for the gold/platinum rewards:

2015 Elite Status
In order to reach Elite Status, you must earn 300 Coins (for Gold Status) or 600 Coins (for Platinum Status) between July 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Members who reach Elite Status will be able to choose a downloadable game from a wide selection of Nintendo 3DS and Wii U titles. Your free Elite Status gift will be available between April 1 and April 30, 2015. A list of the Elite Status 2015 gifts will be posted here once announced.

Does anyone actually think we'll get access to those gifts tomorrow? I'm personally doubtful but who knows, there is a Nintendo Direct!

@VeeFlamesNL

That's the one item that I think is a sure thing. The old 3DS received an update that support the portal so that must mean that it's right around the corner. Plus, with almost every new game containing some sort of Amiibo support and with the figures selling as good as they are, Nintendo will want to tap into the "old 3DS only" market.

I think a Direct is coming! The last day to register a code in Club Nintendo in NA is tomorrow and if you look at the "Club Nintendo program discontinuation schedule", it says that the 2015 Elite Status games will be available from April 1 to April 30th.

dkxcalibur commented on Capcom's Gearing Up For a Major Monster Hunter...:

@IceClimbers That's my fear with everything not owned by Nintendo. Both Sony and Microsoft have proven that they are both willing and able to throw money at companies to lock series into exclusive deals. It would suck for Nintendo to lose one of it's best selling third party titles.....even if I've yet to buy one.

I don't own a MH title yet but even I can say that Nintendo needs the series to remain on their systems.

I'm on the brink of potentially finally buying MH4.........a little bit more coin and it may be mine......if I don't buy Xenoblade instead!

I "check in" every day and so far I've caught every pokemon up to level 139, a handful of expert stage pokemon, every "daily pokemon", and every special except for the Lucario Mega Stone (I barely missed out, very very close) and Kaldeo.

I'll skip. I enjoy about half the content they put out and the other half I despise. Sometimes the humor is spot on, fresh and creative (I really liked the board game series); at other times he takes it too far with the "simple crude potty humor"....but that's just my opinion.

dkxcalibur commented on Game Jam Tasks Developers With Creating A Zeld...:

@Mijzelffan

I think most people who oppose a change would be okay with it if it was Nintendo's original creative idea and not being asked for by a group of unhappy fans. If none of us heard about this discussion, and Nintendo announced at this year's E3 that Link was a female in the upcoming game, I think the majority of gamers would be like "okay, no big deal". Of course you can't make everyone happy so there would be people who would be very angry.

dkxcalibur commented on Game Jam Tasks Developers With Creating A Zeld...:

When it comes down to it, I really don't care if Nintendo were to make a game with a female Link or as others stated with the better idea, a game with Zelda as the main character.

However, I'm kind of getting tired of established characters in all types of media changing race/gender/whatever in an attempt to make one portion of the community happy. Not once have I asked if Samus could be a man or any other character to switch gender, race, sexuality, whatever. For me it's not the about Link being a man or women but more about the act of changing a character that someone created to appease someone else.

@JaxonH @Unit_DTH

Thanks guys, great recommendations. My intentions are always to pick up every game I'm interested in at some point. However, my issue isn't about buying them both or all three but rather the time to play all three. I probably only have time to play one of these games so I definitely won't buy two at the same time.

dkxcalibur commented on Exclusive: Affordable Space Adventures Pricing...:

I'll be honest, I was hoping it would be cheaper. However, (before everyone goes nuts) I understand the thought process behind making the decision to price it at $20. I'm still planning on picking ASA up; but it's going to be ASA or Elliot's Quest as my next eShop purchase. I don't know which will turn out to be the better game but Elliot's Quest's price of $12.99 is going to definitely be one of the deciding factors.

I've seen the commercial multiple times now, but for some reason that I can't quite figure out, it doesn't look great. It sounds like a watered down version of Pokemon to me. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt I'll pick it up anyways.

I would not buy this game as I'm "partied-out" from playing Wii Party U, Game & Wario, and Nintendoland; but both my sons want this and the one has saved money for this game.

dkxcalibur commented on Video: This Harmless Exploit Will Help You Gra...:

If you're planning on using this exploit, I would use it now because I think it will be time sensitive. Nintendo will fix the exploit and/or the special miis will only be available for a certain amount of time.

I'm going to continue to get them through wi-fi zones and actual street passes but I don't care if others use this. I don't consider it cheating at all, but I do think it destroys the purpose. I don't get a ton of street passes in my community and for some reason, most of my coins are spent for duplicates.

@rjejr

It would have been great to see it come down to pure skill but at the same time it is free to play the event and it is a free to play game. I'm willing to bet that most people who play this have not spent a single cent on this game. Also, how many upgrades can you buy at once for a match? I have not tried it but I'm willing to bet that the most upgrades you can get are 1 of each per match. I don' t think buying the two that were mentioned above will give that much of advantage.

I love this game. I can't get enough. I've yet to make an in-game purchase. I can't wait to join the competition, even though I suck at the timed expert levels. However, I believe I'm a version behind because I didn't see this when I last checked. I anticipate Nintendo to continue to add content and new pokemon.

dkxcalibur commented on Parent Trap: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimat...:

@rjejr My two boys are a little younger but they play similar games, and I have very similar rules for what they can and can't play. I'm actually looking forward to Splatoon coming out so they can experience FPS without the realistic violence. My youngest son is all about Smash Bros. 3DS/WiiU, SM3DW, SM3DL, DKCR:TF, Rayman (both games); and my oldest son prefers games like Animal Crossing & Tamodachi Life, Mario Kart 7 & 8, Art Academy. They actually both started playing Lego Batman 3 just this week.

My youngest has tried the demo for MH4, he likes it but I don't think he knows what he's doing. I've been playing the demo lately trying to get a feel for if I like it or not. My oldest does not seem interested in games like this at all.

I think it's funny how people keep stating that the Wii U is in trouble....this isn't coming to the 3DS either!

The excuse is lame! Like I posted before, I would have bought this game if it were released on either the 3DS or Wii U. It looks really cool. However, I'm not going to go buy a $300+ system to play an "indie" game.

I would have downloaded this game if it were on a Nintendo system. Oh well.

It doesn't make sense to not bring it to the Wii U and/or 3DS. It's not like it's a huge game relying on the more powerful system's resources to run it???
