My son bought Zelda last night. It was the only figure from series 2 in stock at our local Target. We wouldn't let him buy a series 1 figure because he put some of those on his Christmas list.

....So we finally had a chance to try out an Amiibo. I was surprised by how well the figure adapted and leveled up to our playing style in Smash. My youngest son and I do team battles against Zelda and my oldest son and we get destroyed now.

Are only complaint is that Zelda does not unlock a suit in Kart.

@Giygas_95 I didn't vote for DKC:TF but I thought that game rocked. The truth of the matter is that there are multiple "game of the year" titles on Nintendo systems this year.....but you have to choose only one. I voted for Mario Kart 8. It's by far the best in the series. It's one of the best looking games on the Wii U. Tons of tracks and characters. You can choose traditional controls or motion controls. The game just rocks! But I could have easily voted for Donkey Kong, Smash, or Bayonetta 2.

dkxcalibur commented on Poll: Have You Been Able to Buy the Super Smas...:

I want an adapter but I can't find one at a fair price. The lack of stock on this product was a big screw-up by Nintendo. Why would I buy a GC controller if I can't use them????? I see the controllers on the shelves but NO ADAPTERS!

As far as the Amiibos go, I've seen every single one at my local Target at one time or another. I've only bought 2 as gifts. I need to pickup Little Mac for a gift yet. Have the series 2 figures been released? I thought they don't come out until the 20th?

I voted on 5 of the 8 remaining games! My favorite game left is Mario Kart 8.
My favorite game left that doesn't have a chance is DKCTF. That was an awesome platformer that I couldn't stop playing until I found everything.

I think they're like 20-25 too late with these. I remember playing them. In fact, we still play Streets of Rage 2. However, I think that these games are no where close to relevant anymore.

They should have done an Ecco game and reboot the series!

Wow, I would get that shirt for sure! I don't quite understand why club Nintendo must be localized. Club Nintendo should be one club open to everyone and offer the same merchandise to everyone.

I had a ton of points last year that I ended up wasting on posters and other crap because my points were going to expire and it was the only thing on there. I also downloaded Kirby games on all of our systems because it was the only games we didn't have.

dkxcalibur commented on Sony Pictures Is In Negotiations With Nintendo...:

I've been saying for years that Nintendo needs to return Mario to either/both film & TV. Now I was hoping for someone other then Sony Pictures Animation. They do have some movies that I have enjoyed with my family but they also have turned some franchises that I love into garbage. I grew up watching the Smurf cartoon on Saturday mornings and what the released into theaters is 100% garbage. I also both hate & love the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs movies. I loved the books, some of my favorite children books so what they did to the original story was bad, however, I actually laugh and have fun when I watch those movies.

I don't know, I'm on the fence. If Nintendo has a watchdog at the studio making sure Mario is done to their standards then I'm all for it. If Sony is given the creative freedom to make Mario extra smurfy then they can go smurf themselves.

Make them free! The only ones we have on our two systems are the solid colors and the Sonic Boom themes. $2 for a wallpaper seems a bit much for me. That's like one game in Rusty's Real Deal Baseball!

They act as advertisement for games or people want to represent their favorite games. In the later case, those people have already spent money on the actual game. The least they could do is give those people a free theme.

dkxcalibur commented on Nintendo's New Response: Some amiibo "Likely" ...:

I kind of liked the Marth figure. However, I'm not going to over-spend on buying a Marth somewhere like Ebay. I don't need to own every single figure. I now know that my family will end up with a couple of these things just because it's the holidays. My boys both put them on their lists but other then that, I'm not buying anymore. If they spend their money that's up to them. Me on the other hand am done! I've had enough of the "Amiibo miscommunication" from Nintendo. They can keep them. They look really cool. I wouldn't mind trying them out in Smash. But ultimately they're not worth it to me.

@erv I'm with you on this one. I still have Hess trucks in the boxes from when I was a kid because my parents said I couldn't open them because they would be worth money some day. Now they're worth almost nothing, and they're packed away in my attic somewhere. Seems pointless.

If I get an Amiibo, it's coming out of the box!

One of Nintendo's biggest downfalls is it's communication with it's customers. Sometimes they need to just come out and say "yes, more are on the way", or "no....that's it".

This problem with the adapter reminds me of the Christmas when the N64 came out. You couldn't find extra controllers anywhere. I owned this awesome system that had 4 controllers slots but couldn't find one extra controller to purchase. I don't think I found an extra controller for months.

It would have been better if they would have instructed them how to play first. A simple "jump", "attack", "special", and "don't fall off the level" would have went a long way. I'm not jumping on someone's skill level, they all had fun. I just wish they would have gave simple instructions first.

Good news. The news last week that they weren't making them anymore made me a little crazy. My local Target had 4-5 Wii Fit Trainers on their shelves and I was tempted to buy them just because the hyped reports last week.

I also, hope the news about the adapter is true.

I can't wait to get this game. I still have fond memories of drawing my own Super Mario Bros. levels on the back of homework sheets when I was in elementary school. My friends and I would do this and then show each other our designs and talk about how cool this would be to play. A dream come true.

@PlywoodStick This is why I prefer to donwload my games now......but you can't download an adapter!!!!

I wanted the adapter, but I have a Pro controller on the way so it's not the end of the world for me. I'm not going to tournaments so the Gamepad, Pro, and Classic will work for us. If I'm able to pickup an adapter in the future, I will and this will allow us to use our three GC controllers too.

It fires me up seeing the rows of GC controllers on the shelves at Target and Best Buy for $30 but absolutely no adapters! They had no problem flooding the market with them. I wonder how many unknowing parents will buy the controllers as gifts because they're on the shelf next to the game and won't have the adapter to be able to use them?

At this point I say screw Mewtwo & CDs.....give me the adapter!!!!!!

I bought my Wii U not solely for DK:TF but it had a lot to do with getting the system. We bought the bundle and Super Mario 3D World but we couldn't wait to buy DK:TF. Of course it didn't hurt to look ahead and see Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros. on the horizon. Also, all the surprises like Bayonnetta 2 and Tomodachi Life. My family owns most of the games on the bracket so it's going to be tough choosing our favorites.

@KodyDawg Same here. I always say "no thank you" when they announce a contest because I know it'll be through Twitter. This time I really want to vote though! I have a feeling Mario Kart 8 is going to need my vote. That, and I can't wait to see the potential Smash face off in the final 4.

We've played a lot since it came out in the US but only once did I play online; and even then it was in the "just for fun" mode.

This worries me but I believe it's isolated and very rare because Nintendo has not shut down online temporarily. I would think that if the bug is being caused by this game and this one particular online mode, then Nintendo would just shut down Smash online until they were able to fix the bug.

I'm going to cross my fingers on this one and hope I'm lucky enough to not have this problem like I was with the "red ring of death" on the 360.

I can't get my hands on an adapter and I'm unwilling to over-pay for the adapter on Amazon or Ebay. I'm disappointed. I can buy as many GC controllers as I want at Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us, and Walmart; but I can't buy the adapter to use them. I think Nintendo should have made the plug connect to the Wiimotes instead, but maybe there's a reason for not doing this and I missed it.

Currently on metacritic, it has a score of 78. That's a good score. It's not the best, but it still says that for the most part, it's a good game. I don't understand it why people think that the critics don't like this game? No every game is going to get a 9 or 10!

I would personally give the game a 7/10. I would also like to point out that IMO, W101 is not as good as both Bayonetta games.

dkxcalibur commented on Guide: The Best Black Friday Nintendo Deals in...:

Most of the deals are good all day on Black Friday and most of the time the stuff is still available later in the day after all the crazy people go home for naps.

The Best Buy Wii U bundle is legit!!!!!! If I didn't already own one, I would brave the crowds to get one. I bought ours last year at Best Buy on Black Friday and it cost about the same and I got the NSMB U bundle + Nintendo Land + Mario Wiimote. Since then, I've purchased 3D World, Smash, and Donkey Kong Country all at full retail price. So I've spent about $170 more!!!

The Target deal on games is great too. Although I have all the games on sale that they list or show.

dkxcalibur commented on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U GameCube Controlle...:

I never had the option to preorder this at Target, where I preoder most of my retail version games. Anyways, I picked up our copy of the game Friday around 5pm and the sales clerk had no clue what I was even asking about so my guess is that they sold out of the adapters very early in the day.

This makes me irate that Nintendo failed to produce enough of these. I don't own a Pro Controller because of the price. So we're stuck playing Smash on wiimotes and classic controllers....and one 3DS. By the way, in case you didn't know, you need to own a copy of Smash for each 3DS you plan to connect to the Wii U!!!!! I thought you could connect any 3DS to use as the controller via download play or something. Now I need to go and buy another copy of the 3DS Smash to connect our second 3DS to the Wii U!!! Who knows how long we'll be without the adapter, so I guess our 3 gamecube controllers will continue to gather dust. Not happy.

I think the cases are kind of overpriced for what you get. We never needed a case for our Disney Infinity figures so I doubt we'll need this if we decide to get an amiibo.

We got to see some of the Amiibos over the weekend. My kid's instant reaction was positive except for Link. Link is the one figure they don't want. They thought the orange/yellow plastic support made the figure look dumb.

dkxcalibur commented on Video: Relax With This Collection of Mario Kar...:

@Kaze_Memaryu I disagree with almost everything you say about the DLC. I think the many ramps found on the Excitebike track capture the idea of the original NES game and make for a unique change of pace from the other tracks. Getting the boost from the ramps and bumping other karts to jockey for better position reminds me of watching a boardercross race. I like Yoshi's Circuit way more then I thought I would because of the tightness of the coarse and I had no problem handling my Kart through the turns. Also, the lack of gimmicks does not bother me. I like them but I'm not disappointed when they're not in a track. I actually did not like the Dragon Driftway. I thought that besides the music and idea of racing through a dragon, the track and scenery was a bit boring for me. I could have lived without another rainbow road. Hyrule and Ice Ice are both fun tracks....not the best but still good fun tracks.

I think this pack alone was worth the $12 bundle cost, but that's just me.

dkxcalibur commented on Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Claims Seco...:

I'm not going to say "stupid sports games" like other did. That seems a bit harsh. But I will say that games like Bayonetta 2 can not compete against games that are picked up by the drones every single year. I know people who will buy COD, Madden, NBA2K, and FIFA every single year without even thinking about it. I enjoy playing or have enjoyed playing some of those games in the past but I got bored playing the same thing over and over and over again. I had a blast playing the COD games every year with my friends but after awhile, we got tired of doing the same thing. The one thing I respect about Nintendo, is that they take the time to perfect their games instead of just releasing them on a yearly basis. Even though we get a ton of Mario games, they're usually different versions (2D, 3D, Kart, Sports, RPG, Fighting) and they're not usually "cookie cutter".

However, I don't believe this article means that Bayonetta 2 has not sold well. Most of us on here who have purchased Bayonetta 2 can vouch that it's very very good and every gamer should pick it up.

dkxcalibur commented on Hands On: Wii U GameCube Controller Adapter:

The Wii U has two USB ports in the front and back correct? Even with my DI portal and External HD plugged in, I still have the front two available. I'm torn between picking up the adapter to use my 3 GC controllers (1 normal & 2 Wavebirds) or picking up a Pro. Does anyone know if the Wiimote + classic controller combination will work in Smash? Another dumb question, how many Wiimotes can sync to the system? Can you use 8 Wiimotes?

I'm confused!!!!!!

dkxcalibur commented on Kirby And The Rainbow Curse For Wii U Releases...:

The controls are the only thing that actually interest me about this game and it seems like the one thing that is turning most people off? I'm doubtful that I'll pick this up but if I do, it will be to try out the gameplay/controls.

It's a unique control scheme and it separates it from other platformers. It seems like you have to think ahead more then in a typical platformer.

@phantomsir123 I second your comment! I was going to post that they should have included the DKC:TF sidekicks, & King Boo; and classic battle arenas. Your suggested karts sound cool too.

Some of the suggestions seem like they would be out of place but I think some that could easily work would be any Pokemon, Kirby, or the StarFox team. I honestly thought they should have gone with Toon Link instead of the Link that they chose. As much as I like Little Mac, Samus, and Captain Falcon; they seem like a stretch.

Can't wait! We prepaid for the DLC earlier in the week and have been playing as colorful Yoshi and Shy Guys ever since. Can't wait for work, practices, and meetings to be over today.

The article says that while playing online, you have the option of choosing a DLC lobby to ensure that the new tracks appear. I believe someone else adamantly commented that this would not be the case and that even the people who choose not to down load the new content would see the tracks online......now who was that?????

I'm not buying into this. My bet is that this is similar to the Jack Skeleton Disney Infinity Figure. Gamestop called that an exclusive but it only meant that they got it a month or two before the other stores. But who knows, Gamestop does have the "NES" 3DS system as an exclusive.
