dkxcalibur commented on Nintendo Download: 29th January (North America):

Seems like a weak update this week. However, if you don't own Metroid Prime 1-3, get them now! Metroid Prime is one of my all-time favorite games and if I didn't already own them, this would get purchased immediately. You're getting 3 full games for $10! There are indie games that cost more for way less content then one of the Prime games.....and you get 3 of them!

I'm not a collector and I don't feel that Nintendo owes the collecting community an apology. As far as I'm concerned, collecting is a risk and should only be done for the love of gathering items/games/cards/figures for their own personal enjoyment. If you're collecting in hopes of making a profit then that's the risk you take.

I'm a huge fan of Rusty's. I have not purchased every mini-game yet though. I usually purchase a new one when I'm bored and in between full games. I actually really like getting street pass high scores for Rusty's and I wish more games did street pass high scores.

I actually enjoy playing Candy Crush when I have a minute or two to kill; and I've never spent a single cent on it. I will definitely download Pokemon Shuffle on both of our 3DS systems if it's a similar system to Candy Crush.

@abbyhitter I think you missed the point, it's a hypothetical question. Plus, not every person owns both a Wii U & 3DS, and a copy of Smash for both systems.

Anyways, I voted for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. I think second for me would be Mario Kart 8; but I hum or whistle Luigi's Mansion theme and the Super Mario 3D World songs all the time.

I don't believe for one second that Sakurai can't find the Amiibos that he wants.

I too have given up on Amiibos because I can't find the ones I want and I refuse to over-pay for them on Ebay.

The Germany pic: In NA, where I live, I've never seen even a quarter of that many figures total in one place. The most figures total in one store that I've seen is about 6 rows; and it's usually Mario, Peach, Samus, Yoshi, & Kirby.

Even though Splatoon is not your typical third-person shooter, I'm very excited for my two sons to play this game and get their first taste of a third-person shooter that is okay for them to play. It's probably the one genre of games that they have yet to try.

I'm also excited to play something unique in the genre. I loved series like COD and Gears but they got repetitive after years of playing. Splatoon seems to bring something familiar yet entirely new to the table.

I like this, but aren't "scalpers" going to find a simple way around this by using multiple cards and shipping it to friends/family/work addresses?

I'm kind of torn on the scalping in general. Part of me feels like these people are scum and they're taking away the opportunity to buy products for the people who actually want the product at the retail price; and the other part of me says it's a simple "supply & demand" and there's nothing illegal or wrong about it. I personally refuse to over-pay for a product. I'm not a collector (I don't get having multiple systems because of how they look). I simply want to play video games. It would be cool to have a special edition model but I'm not about to pay $500 for one.

Ultimately this is a Nintendo problem with the lack of adapters, amiibos, and now S.E. New 3DS systems. The same problems existed back when the N64 released and also when the Wii released.

My list would include both Zelda titles, Mario Galaxy, Pikmin titles, Xenoblade, Wii Sports Resort, Big Brain Academy, Boom Blox, Fire Emblem RD, Kirby's Epic Yarn, The Last Story, the Mario sports titles, Okami, Resident Evil 4, Trauma Team, Wario, Zak & Wiki.

I actually don't have Excitebike yet and I've wanted to pick it up for a while....but I'm waiting to see what gets released next month.

I actually have two accounts (don't ask, not happy about it). One account is Platinum and I need only 45 more coins to get to Gold on the second account. I need a nice family member or friend to let me have an unused code!

I've already moved on from Amiibos due to the fact that I can't find some of them unless I overpay for them on Ebay.

I'll admit that I really like how they all look, and who doesn't like figures of classic & new Nintendo characters; but for the small amount of in-game content and the fact that they failed to produce enough has caused me to lose interest.

dkxcalibur commented on Club Nintendo to Close, With Replacement Loyal...:

I'm not mad about digital downloads for Elite Status members, but as I stated before, the best way to reward people would be to at least reward points instead. Give people who may already own every game that's being rewarded a choice. I also think this is why a new program is going to be an improvement. Hopefully it's closer to the Digital Deluxe Program then the existing Club Nintendo Program.

Anyways, I wouldn't hold out hope in NA that good physical products will release before the club closes out. As far as physical products go, Club Nintendo in NA has been on life support for over a year. Anytime they release something, it's gone quicker then most can log-in and claim. I waited until the last minute last year in hopes of seeing something good and had regrets.

dkxcalibur commented on GAME is Selling a 2DS + Mario Kart 7 for £79.99:

Since the "new" 3DS was announced last week, I assumed that the older models would come down in price immediately. however, here in NA, I'm finding the prices to be unchanged. I feel bad for anyone who buys one and doesn't know about the new model coming out next month.

dkxcalibur commented on Nintendo Download: 22nd January (Europe):

@XyVoX No. Completely different games. Both are very good though. Freeze is way better in every aspect if you have to choose.

I would pick up Returns if I wasn't in NA and didn't already own the original. Although, if you don't like a challenge, don't get it. I think the difficulty scares off some people. I never thought it felt cheap or impossible. I personally would rather play a game that when completed, you have a real sense of accomplishment instead of the feeling that I basically just played a movie!

As I stated already, I'm done with Amiibos. I really like how they look. Most are very detailed versions of iconic Nintendo Characters....what's not to like?
What makes me done is the fact that the only way to get some of them is to overpay for them somewhere like ebay.

This and Wii downloads were my top picks for the direct. I was shocked to see this because I just assumed that with Steam coming out that we wouldn't see another FE game for a while.

I will buy this day one for sure. I still play Awakening.

dkxcalibur commented on Wii Disc Software Heading to the Wii U eShop:

I passed on both Galaxy 2 and Punch Out!! when they were first released. We recently were thinking about tracking down a used copy of Punch Out!!! so we'll that one for sure. At $10, Galaxy 2 seems like a must have as well.

The Metroid Prime Series is awesome. The first is one of my favorite games!

dkxcalibur commented on New Nintendo 3DS Release Date Confirmed for 13...:

I'm still on the fence. I'm not sure my family needs a third 3DS even if it is the "New" 3DS. I personally hate the plum/burgundy/red one. I think the MH4 one looks the best but I don't care for the game so I probably would skip on that model. That leaves me only the Zelda or Black models. I guess I would most likely try to find the Zelda model.

I was kind of looking forward to the smaller model being released because it's easier to carry. We have 2 XLs now and they are a little big to shove in a pocket, and we like doing the streetpass stuff. Oh well.

I never played Earthbound but I always wanted to. This game looks interesting but I'm going to wait for reviews before I buy it. This seems like one of those games that gets hyped and after finally playing, leaves a bad taste in my mouth (like Scram Kitty and His Buddy On Rails).

Also can't vote.

I would have voted for the loyalty program. I took advantage of the Digital Deluxe Promotion and over time it basically paid for Shovel Knight, Scram Kitty, and couple other VC titles. I loved it and I would like to see it return in some capacity.

I have two accounts (1 Platinum, 1 gold....don't ask!, next year I'm looking to have only 1), and I did not get selected to voice my opinion. I would love to tell Nintendo how disappointed I am with the Amiibos. The stock is the most obvious complaint but the lack of game content at the moment is also an issue.

@KryptoKrunch That's exactly what I want. Maybe Nintendo does an HD remake but with new content and online racing....kind of like the Dr. Mario games. Sell the game @ $15 and see what kind of demand the series gets.

I personally think the original F-Zero aged better then the original Mario Kart.

If this is true, and Little Mac is already done, then I'm done with Nintendo's Amiibos. This is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong. I'm not going to lose sleep over the matter, nor is it going to ruin my day, I just will not support Nintendo's Amiibos going forward. First the GC adapter and now Amiibos? My oldest son has wanted Little Mac since he was announced. I refuse to overpay for one on ebay too.

It reminds me of the early days of the N64 when I couldn't find a second controller anywhere.

Honestly, I'm going to buy every one of those game for sure except for Kirby and Yoshi, but the more I see of Kirby, the more I want to play it. Yoshi looks beautiful but I've never been crazy about his games. I voted for Mario Maker because I always dreamed about designing my own Mario levels and now I can.

I signed up for Twitter just to vote and have a chance to win the prizes. I voted for Mario Kart 8 the through every stage of the bracket. Like they said on Nintendo Minute, there were so many choices and deserving games this year. I could have easily went with Smash, Bayonetta 2, or Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze; but ultimately I feel that Mario Kart 8 is the most polished and fun to play for me......and that's saying a lot if you take a moment and think about how awesome those other games are!

dkxcalibur commented on Poll: Which is the Best Mario Kart Game?:

Despite Mario Kart 8's lack of Arenas for battle mode, I still think it's the best in the series by far. It's beautiful, it sounds great, it's tracks are unique, fun to play, and pack a lot of variety, it has a ton of characters (although I could have done with less baby characters), the controls are smooth and spot on, and the DLC is a steal compared to what you get in other game's DLC packs.

I actually voted for it on Nintendo Minutes' game of the year bracket as the year's best game.

My son bought Zelda last night. It was the only figure from series 2 in stock at our local Target. We wouldn't let him buy a series 1 figure because he put some of those on his Christmas list.

....So we finally had a chance to try out an Amiibo. I was surprised by how well the figure adapted and leveled up to our playing style in Smash. My youngest son and I do team battles against Zelda and my oldest son and we get destroyed now.

Are only complaint is that Zelda does not unlock a suit in Kart.

@Giygas_95 I didn't vote for DKC:TF but I thought that game rocked. The truth of the matter is that there are multiple "game of the year" titles on Nintendo systems this year.....but you have to choose only one. I voted for Mario Kart 8. It's by far the best in the series. It's one of the best looking games on the Wii U. Tons of tracks and characters. You can choose traditional controls or motion controls. The game just rocks! But I could have easily voted for Donkey Kong, Smash, or Bayonetta 2.
