dkxcalibur commented on Nintendo of America Announces Upcoming eShop '...:

Currently on metacritic, it has a score of 78. That's a good score. It's not the best, but it still says that for the most part, it's a good game. I don't understand it why people think that the critics don't like this game? No every game is going to get a 9 or 10!

I would personally give the game a 7/10. I would also like to point out that IMO, W101 is not as good as both Bayonetta games.

dkxcalibur commented on Guide: The Best Black Friday Nintendo Deals in...:

Most of the deals are good all day on Black Friday and most of the time the stuff is still available later in the day after all the crazy people go home for naps.

The Best Buy Wii U bundle is legit!!!!!! If I didn't already own one, I would brave the crowds to get one. I bought ours last year at Best Buy on Black Friday and it cost about the same and I got the NSMB U bundle + Nintendo Land + Mario Wiimote. Since then, I've purchased 3D World, Smash, and Donkey Kong Country all at full retail price. So I've spent about $170 more!!!

The Target deal on games is great too. Although I have all the games on sale that they list or show.

dkxcalibur commented on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U GameCube Controlle...:

I never had the option to preorder this at Target, where I preoder most of my retail version games. Anyways, I picked up our copy of the game Friday around 5pm and the sales clerk had no clue what I was even asking about so my guess is that they sold out of the adapters very early in the day.

This makes me irate that Nintendo failed to produce enough of these. I don't own a Pro Controller because of the price. So we're stuck playing Smash on wiimotes and classic controllers....and one 3DS. By the way, in case you didn't know, you need to own a copy of Smash for each 3DS you plan to connect to the Wii U!!!!! I thought you could connect any 3DS to use as the controller via download play or something. Now I need to go and buy another copy of the 3DS Smash to connect our second 3DS to the Wii U!!! Who knows how long we'll be without the adapter, so I guess our 3 gamecube controllers will continue to gather dust. Not happy.

dkxcalibur commented on Keep All Your Treasured amiibo Figures Safe Wi...:

I think the cases are kind of overpriced for what you get. We never needed a case for our Disney Infinity figures so I doubt we'll need this if we decide to get an amiibo.

We got to see some of the Amiibos over the weekend. My kid's instant reaction was positive except for Link. Link is the one figure they don't want. They thought the orange/yellow plastic support made the figure look dumb.

@Kaze_Memaryu I disagree with almost everything you say about the DLC. I think the many ramps found on the Excitebike track capture the idea of the original NES game and make for a unique change of pace from the other tracks. Getting the boost from the ramps and bumping other karts to jockey for better position reminds me of watching a boardercross race. I like Yoshi's Circuit way more then I thought I would because of the tightness of the coarse and I had no problem handling my Kart through the turns. Also, the lack of gimmicks does not bother me. I like them but I'm not disappointed when they're not in a track. I actually did not like the Dragon Driftway. I thought that besides the music and idea of racing through a dragon, the track and scenery was a bit boring for me. I could have lived without another rainbow road. Hyrule and Ice Ice are both fun tracks....not the best but still good fun tracks.

I think this pack alone was worth the $12 bundle cost, but that's just me.

dkxcalibur commented on Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Claims Seco...:

I'm not going to say "stupid sports games" like other did. That seems a bit harsh. But I will say that games like Bayonetta 2 can not compete against games that are picked up by the drones every single year. I know people who will buy COD, Madden, NBA2K, and FIFA every single year without even thinking about it. I enjoy playing or have enjoyed playing some of those games in the past but I got bored playing the same thing over and over and over again. I had a blast playing the COD games every year with my friends but after awhile, we got tired of doing the same thing. The one thing I respect about Nintendo, is that they take the time to perfect their games instead of just releasing them on a yearly basis. Even though we get a ton of Mario games, they're usually different versions (2D, 3D, Kart, Sports, RPG, Fighting) and they're not usually "cookie cutter".

However, I don't believe this article means that Bayonetta 2 has not sold well. Most of us on here who have purchased Bayonetta 2 can vouch that it's very very good and every gamer should pick it up.

dkxcalibur commented on Hands On: Wii U GameCube Controller Adapter:

The Wii U has two USB ports in the front and back correct? Even with my DI portal and External HD plugged in, I still have the front two available. I'm torn between picking up the adapter to use my 3 GC controllers (1 normal & 2 Wavebirds) or picking up a Pro. Does anyone know if the Wiimote + classic controller combination will work in Smash? Another dumb question, how many Wiimotes can sync to the system? Can you use 8 Wiimotes?

I'm confused!!!!!!

dkxcalibur commented on Kirby And The Rainbow Curse For Wii U Releases...:

The controls are the only thing that actually interest me about this game and it seems like the one thing that is turning most people off? I'm doubtful that I'll pick this up but if I do, it will be to try out the gameplay/controls.

It's a unique control scheme and it separates it from other platformers. It seems like you have to think ahead more then in a typical platformer.

dkxcalibur commented on Feature: These Are The Mario Kart 8 DLC Packs ...:

@phantomsir123 I second your comment! I was going to post that they should have included the DKC:TF sidekicks, & King Boo; and classic battle arenas. Your suggested karts sound cool too.

Some of the suggestions seem like they would be out of place but I think some that could easily work would be any Pokemon, Kirby, or the StarFox team. I honestly thought they should have gone with Toon Link instead of the Link that they chose. As much as I like Little Mac, Samus, and Captain Falcon; they seem like a stretch.

Can't wait! We prepaid for the DLC earlier in the week and have been playing as colorful Yoshi and Shy Guys ever since. Can't wait for work, practices, and meetings to be over today.

The article says that while playing online, you have the option of choosing a DLC lobby to ensure that the new tracks appear. I believe someone else adamantly commented that this would not be the case and that even the people who choose not to down load the new content would see the tracks online......now who was that?????

I'm not buying into this. My bet is that this is similar to the Jack Skeleton Disney Infinity Figure. Gamestop called that an exclusive but it only meant that they got it a month or two before the other stores. But who knows, Gamestop does have the "NES" 3DS system as an exclusive.

I'm on the fence still, leaning towards the "not buying" side. However, my oldest son has already placed Little Mac Amiibo on his Christmas list and the youngest son is eyeing up the Pikachu one. I could see us buying 2-4 and stopping but who knows. The thing I keep thinking about is that 4 of these things are about the same price as a full price Wii U game. Do I want figures with minimum uses or a full game???? At least they're cool looking though.

I'm still rooting for Amiibo Plaza!

The idea and the value of the Amiibos is lacking but the figures look soooo cool.

Ike looks great (I can live with the extra plastic if it means the sword won't fall off like our Violet D.I. figure's head) and this entire set looks good in general.

dkxcalibur commented on Spike VGAs To Be Replaced By The Game Awards 2014:

I was actually at the first VGA in Vegas by total luck (I was in Vegas for business and someone offered me free tickets). It was horrible except for seeing Tony Hawk on the half pipe and Andrew W. K. perform from a wheel chair because he was hurt! The actual awards were horrible that year. People around us were booing through most of the show and it was very very staged. Like telling us when to clap and so forth.

However, hearing that they have representatives from all three of the big companies involved, gives me hope that we might see an award show worth watching.

@Mega719 I saw this and I'm thinking about it.

Here are my options:
1. Download and get $5 back from digital deluxe promotion
2. Buy day 1 @ target and get my $5 gift card because I preordered
3. Wait until BF to buy it @ Target and get a $15 gift card but run the risk of it being sold out.
4. Buy day 1 @ Toys "R" Us and get a free Amiibo. (Do you have to preorder it?)

dkxcalibur commented on Target and Best Buy Weigh in With Nintendo Bla...:

The Wii U deal at Best Buy is great. Last year we picked up our Wii U on Black Friday @ Best Buy and got the New Super Mario Bros. U + Luigi U bundle and it also came with the Mario Wiimote, and a copy of Nintendo Land for $300 (I think). We went to the store around 6pm on Black Friday, the store was almost empty, and they still had 3-4 stacks of Wii U bundles. As good as they are, some of these deals will still be around Friday night or even Saturday.

Unfortunately a lot of the deals are on stuff we already have. I'm tempted to put off picking up Smash one week to get the $15 gift card.

I think the system of voting on your single favorite Mario game shows it's flaws in the outcome of the vote. The better more accurate way to do this would have been to vote for you favorite 5 and give points based off of rank. 1st= 16pts, 2nd=8pts , 3rd=4pts , 4th=2pts , 5th=1pts. If it were done this way, I think Mario 3 would have been higher on the list.

....but that's being waaaaaay too nerdy.

@rjejr My thoughts exactly about Mario and Peach. I think the next iteration of Kart will be Nintendo Kart. It might be called something else, but it will no longer be Mario's game. I'm not sure how I would feel about the series if it went this way but I think it's going to happen.

I think this was smart. I actually would have pushed it even further back to March and spent the extra time to make it perfect. Atlus isn't the biggest company but they can afford to wait until later when there's less competition and less games to choose from. But this is just my opinion.

We're on the fence about getting a third 3DS. My options are to continue to share mine with my 5 year old and maybe buy a "new" 3DS when they finally come out, or hope for Santa to deliver a 2DS or 3DS to him this Christmas.

Thanks vio! That track looks great.

I'm happy with the entire package for the most part. I could have done without another rainbow road but it's really not that big of a deal. Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach are cool but I would have rather had some other characters as they are both already represented 3 times each. Why not the Diddy, Trixie, or Cranky? Or Captain Falcon? I don't buy into the bounty hunter argument. Do the Animal Crossing or Link have better reason to be racing against Mario? They could have put Samus and a "hunter class" designed kart in the game. Again, not that big of a deal, I like Mario and Peach in the DLC, but it would have nice to have some more variety.

I have never tried a Pikmin game at all so I'm really excited to play the demo. Every time I had any interest in the series, I questioned if I would like it or not and then went with a different game. Now I will finally get to try it.

I'm not sure about the animation. Not that $5 is a lot. I'm questioning why Nintendo is not putting more effort in other aspects of their business. Although there's probably a good reason why that I'm not seeing. Who knows, maybe we're going to see a great quality Mario cartoon in the future and the Pikmin Shorts are just the guinea pig. Maybe I should support this but I keep thinking Miyamoto should be concentrating on the return of Star Fox.

I've said it since the beginning. Amiibos need their own game. At the very least, they need a Mii Plaza style game, but preferably something closer to the other two figurine games. Maybe this is something in the works that Nintendo is not telling us about but until I hear something else I'm not buying these figures. It's cool that they added bonus material into these existing games and it would be cool to use them in Kart 8 but they seem a little expensive for what you get out of them for now. The best part about the figures are the figures themselves, but the game content so far announced does not WOW me.

I'm still enjoying Fire Emblem: Awakening on my 3DS so I'm pumped for a unique strategy game to be released by Intelligent Systems. So far the premise for using real people from the past mixed with fictional characters from that time period sounds awesome. The comic book style looks cool. This was the highlight of the "direct" for me.

The demo for 3DS smash was nice, but not needed. It was lacking, so the demo did not offer much....so I could do without Wii U demo.

I never thought about it before this article but I would really really appreciate it if the digital deluxe promotion was extended. I download most of my games now and the digital deluxe promotion helps justify paying the same amount for digital games versus physical games. Buying games directly from Nintendo instead of stores receiving a percentage of all game sales must be enough to warrant this promotion.
