Yes that's right, although we said a fond farewell to Felix and Zion over the last few months, Alex has now been joined by a brand new face over on YouTube: please say hello to Mai Ladyman!
Mai is no stranger to making YouTube videos, but she now joins Alex full-time as we storm into 2026. We've no doubt she will flourish as Nintendo ramps up its Switch 2 plans over the coming months and years.
Speaking of Nintendo, Mai is particularly partial to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. On other consoles (yes, they do exist!), Mai is fond of Fallout 4 (hey, that's coming to Switch 2!), Baldur's Gate 3 (hey, that probably isn't coming to Switch 2!), and The Last of Us Part II.
Welcome to the team, Mai!

Congratulations Mai, welcome to the Nintendo Life team in general and in particular the video crew - hope we'll see also articles, second opinions etc. by you here on the site from time to time just like Zion and Felix before (I'll most certainly watch at least some videos including you at some point as much as I barely watch the NL YouTube channel nowadays, but still)!

Mai Ladyman is like a James Bond level pun name. Hopefully highschool wasn't too cruel with a name like that.
I approve! She isn't going to grow a tendy beard and then leave.

Hi there! Welcome from a long time member.
Lovely introductory video, warmest of welcomes.
The newest and cutest member of the NL team.
Welcome to the site Mai! It's awesome that you joined and just from that discussion I can tell this is going to be great
A big welcome and all the best here!! Looking forward to see your contributions
Mai ohhhhhhh mai
Welcome aboard Mai! I hope you enjoy it!
Hot dog! A new cast member!
Is that a real surname or an online handle type thing? What's the origins of Ladyman?
I have a intro slogan for her to use:
It’s a-me, Mai-rio
One of us. One of us.One of us.
😅
Welcome! Mai the Force be with you! 🤣🤗
I hope, eventually, you become powerful and strong enough to end this site's policy of background music in conversation videos. It drives me crazy, and I boycott such videos anywhere. Therefore, and unfortunately, I doubt I will hear or see much from you beyond the one minute I just saw.
Welcome Mai! I can’t wait to hear more from you.
Welcome Mai, just so happen I recently beat Street Fighter 6 as Mai.
Welcome to Nintendo Life, Mai!!
Congrats to her!
I threw my hat in the ring, but I didn't get the job (obviously). There's probably a myriad of reasons why--I live much further away, my editing skills are pretty novice, and frankly, I'm not sure how much the NL staff likes me due to some of the divisive comments I've made in the past.
I watched a couple of her videos, though, and her editing is definitely much better than mine. She has a better studio setup and more professional equipment, and he has a likeable persona on camera.
Definitely a stronger candidate than me and the better person for the job.
I'm not too upset because I knew it was a long shot and had the lowest of low expectations. I would probably pass on hiring me, too, if I were Nintendo Life for all the above reasons.
I'd like to continue honing the craft, though, and maybe someday when I've learned more video editing techniques, I'll be a good enough candidate to land a job doing something I'm passionate about--if not with Nintendo Life, then somewhere.
Congrats again, and Godspeed, Mai! 🫡
Salutations, Mai! Welcome!
This is excellent news. With no disrespect meant to any man I much prefer to listen to a woman’s voice.
@TCKuma Someone didn't read... 😉
Welcome, stranger! Looking forward to getting to know you and your content, Mai!
@PinderSchloss just sounds like a directed by Hideo Kojima name is all.
Hot Coldman, Die Hardman, Mai Ladyman!
I wasn't able to watch it with sound on, but the intro was hillarious nonetheless.
Welcome Mai, hope you will have a wonderful time on the team, but I am going to take an educated guess and say that won't be much of an issue.
@Not_Soos I feel compelled to comment on your last reply.
You might already be doing this, but just do stuff for the fun of it. That is how you hone your craft. Me? I want to produce house music. I do not feel good enough to produce it, so I don't do it much yet, but in the meantime I am making hip hop beats that are slightly further removed from my passion, making it easier for me to finish.
I also enjoy editing, so I edit videos for an artist. I also enjoy writing and creating lay-outs, so I helped in creating a board game for a friend. He has a friend working on a videogame, so I might start producing music for that. All of that stuff I do for fun, but also simply to train, and the proof is in the pudding, it opens up venues, as I might be able to contribute to a videogame sometime soon, and not even because of something closely adjacent. The board game is WWII.
Also, don't feel bad. They had a 100 applicants, they say, so you pretty much had a 1% chance. And I don't know about divisive, I don't recall ever reading anything grating from your side. Or maybe I just agree with you, that's possible too.
@Joeynator3000 think Ladyman is her surname
Mai the Force stream with you!
Sending Mai congrats, directly to you!
Welcome Mai, and congrats for joining NL
@Daniel36
Oh yeah, I'm definitely doing stuff for the fun of it! 😃 I started my own YouTube channel about a year and a half ago called "Nintentrovert" and have already uploaded around 400 videos in that short amount of time. It's mostly let's plays, but I also do a podcast irregularly and other miscellaneous types of content like movie reactions. I'd love for it to one day boom into something I could make a living off of--or at least some passive income--but even if that never happens, I'm still having fun doing it as a hobby. Now that they've hired someone for the job, I've been thinking about uploading my video application to the channel.
Content creation is something I've always wanted to do, and while getting the Nintendo Life job would have been great for networking and gaining industry exposure, I definitely would have missed the liberty of just doing my own thing. I even draw all my own channel art in Adobe Illustrator and edit together thumbnails in Photoshop! So, if nothing else, it's taught me real-world skills and helped me build a portfolio of work that may come in handy someday--as well as helping me work through insecurities about being on camera.
Like I said, my editing is pretty amateur-ish right now, and while I'd like to learn more and get better at it, video editing is not something I enjoy as much as recording videos themselves and making the channel art. So, there may come a time when I could use your services! I'm not in a position right now to be able to pay a freelancer, but in the future that might be something I explore.
I always try to phrase my NL comments (as well as my posts on any other site like Twitter) as respectfully as possible, without hostility and showing a genuine open-mindedness and willingness to be proven wrong. But, despite that, I've had dozens of comment removals at this point and actually got temp-banned for a couple weeks a few months back. (This isn't me criticizing the moderation team, I'm just stating what happened.)
A lot of this came down to me either refuting someone else's political comment or bringing politics into the discussion when it wasn't a part of the original article. My intention was never to stir the pot--it just really hurts me to see all the hate and division in contemporary western society, which affects all spaces including the gaming community, and I wanted to bridge the gap by trying to find common ground between both sides. But, that wasn't always received warmly.
Anyways, thanks again for the words of encouragement! I really appreciate it. 😄 Best of luck on your continued ventures, and I hope it opens up lots of opportunities for you.
Aah someone else who ignored the Mario Kart bundle. It fell almost unnatural back then to order "just" the switch 2. Cyberpunk was also my first switch 2 game and I haven't needed anything else since! Welcome and looking forward to read your JRPG content.
Welcome Mai! Really looking forward to seeing your work on here.
Welcome Mai! I knew you'd be a great fit when you started talking about your Amiga 500
Welcome, Mai! I checked out the backlog videos on her personal channel and I’m pleased to see she has such an eclectic taste in games.
I often feel like an outlier due to the variety of games/genres I enjoy, so it’s wonderful to see a kindred spirit. I’m a fellow Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Zelda, puzzle game, AND The Last of Us lover.
I have a feeling she’s going to surprise us continuously with her contributions to Nintendo Life. Can’t wait to see what’s to come!
@Not_Soos You can pay me in exposure. Haha, just kidding... I also dislike video editing. I am alright at it, made a few pretty good looking music videos, if I do say so myself, but all for the love of the craft.
Also thought about starting a YouTube channel but the hassle wasn't worth it to me.
I hope the video game music thing pans out, but I am not holding my breath. We shall see. Maybe it's time to start those house tracks now.
Good luck on your endeavours!
Welcome and good luck.
Welcome Mai! Excited for all the fun and chaotic ideas you have for NintendoLife!
Hello beautiful commenters! I'm just catching up with all the lovely comments from everyone and I can't get over the warm welcomes. I can't wait to get properly stuck in with work on the channel and suffice it to say, I'm loving every minute so far. It's going to be a fun ride!
I hope I can do the channel proud. ^_^
Also yes, my last name is Ladyman, which is old English for "Lady's Man Servant"... gotta love those job title surnames from back in the day.
@Mai Hello! A very warm welcome from all of us. 🖐😊
Sorry, i watch only Alex videos. I literally dont care for anybody else.
Amiga 500 mentioned!
