It was starting to lose its shine on X and Y, but they still had some interesting aspects. But Sword and Shield was when things became much more noticeable.
Interesting timing for this article. I've only recently started playing Persona Q2, and just reached the P3P female protagonist.
The lack of her was my main reason for skipping P3 Reload. I've played the male protag route before in P3P, so was hoping to play the female protag route next time I revisit P3.
The golden pistols should also be available in Tomb Raider 1-3 now. I could unlock them on PC, so I assume it'll also work for the Switch version of 1-3.
I did get confused by the "Ranoa's Treasure" quest repeating, and was wondering whether or not all quests would repeat. Good to know that it was just a glitch with that one quest that they've fixed.
It's been a steady decline for years. Last time I went into my local shop, the collection of games was woefully lacking, with much of the limited space being taken up by other merchandise. I'd thought they'd closed for good in my city, but apparently they're now holed up in a nearby Sports Direct.
Rhythm Paradise Groove is the big one for me. I ought to get into the AI The Somnium Files games as well, and Metroid Prime 4 and Fantasy Life i are also games I'm considering.
It's not a good a sign, sounds as if the game has been in development hell. I enjoyed the original Fantasy Life, but I think I'll wait for reviews to check it's all good before getting Fantasy Life i.
The Zero Escape and Danganronpa creators can make some brilliant games, so I'll keep my eye on this one, though I'll need to see more before I'm sold on it.
I'm looking forward to them. Chapters 1 and 2 were great. But at this point, I'm tempted to wait for all the chapters to be released before playing any more Deltarune.
Whilst I'm interested in the upcoming Layton, Decapolice, and Fantasy Life games, the multiple delays have got me concerned. Hopefully this event will give some reassurance.
Surprised to see all the timeline hate here. I just view it as an interesting tidbit. It's mostly held together by ductape anyway, and can be retconned whenever needed by the developers, so it's not something to take too seriously.
It could easily go either way. If I had to guess, I'll say they'll keep the Switch ticking along this year, with the successor's announcement in early 2025.
It's a slightly underwhelming way to end the challenge, but clearing every uploaded level (excluding TAS and hacked levels) is still a brilliant achievement. A big well done to everyone involved.
It's interesting how this level is the final one. At first glance, it doesn't seem as wild as a lot of other kaizo levels out there. But, the multiple frame perfect jumps makes this deceptively difficult.
Hopefully someone will manage to beat it before the servers are shut down.
It feels too soon. They were only the previous generation, and I still play my 3DS occasionally. Plus, two and a half months notice isn't really a lot of notice for this kind of announcement.
Nintendo Switch 2 is a decent and sensible suggestion. It's not their usual naming pattern, but it wouldn't surprise me if they went with that. However, my money is on them replacing the word Switch with a new buzzword.
The last Keiji Inafune game I played was Mighty No 9, so I'm now much more inclined to hold off and wait for reviews after seeing his name attached to Fantasy Life i.
The game wasn't on my radar before, and judging by the demo, it isn't for me. There's a heavy focus on self-discovery, which isn't a topic that interests me all that much. Likewise, the pizzle-solving is more basic than I would have liked, with it heavily railroading the player towards what they should be doing next.
I'd sure like to see a new collection so more people can get to play this great series. However, as I've already got the games, I'm not sure I'd buy it again.
Monster Hunter seems likely. I'll probably buy it if it is that, but I wouldn't mind a longer wait for the next game. It feels like Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak wasn't that long ago.
I expect stuff to get moved to 2024, and I'm kinda hoping that happens. Shadow drops just don't get me excited, so I'd be tempted to wait for a sale on Fantasy Life i or Decapolice if those suddenly get released.
The main reason I have for not transferring Bank pokemon over to Home is that I would then have to keep paying for the Home subscription forever, or risk losing my creatures. That wasn't so much of an issue back in the Bank era, since any pokemon could just be transferred back into Ultra Sun/Moon if I wanted to stop paying for Bank. But, in the Home era with the whole Dexit issue, that's no longer an option.
Nice to see they went with the faithful remaster approach. Hopefully they'll remaster the fourth game next (Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation), as that was always my favourite of the classic Core Design era.
@Ayuawake That's interesting to hear. I'm only familiar with the rideable box cover legendaries in Scarlet and Violet, so I had assumed all legendaries would be easy to find in those games.
I disliked the hassle to having to visit a store for these distributions. Plus, not everyone lived near a location that was running these events.
However, I preferred how legendaries were caught in-game in older games. In the earlier games, legendaries were rare and mysterious creatures. Usually they'd be at the end of a big dungeon, or have some other challenge for capturing them. But in recent games, legendaries are much more common, and are often obtained as part of the main story.
The game is probably better later on, but I did not enjoy the demo. It's very handheldy, and there's so much dialogue to skip. All that plus the RPG style elements just get in the way of what I want most from the Pikmin experience: to explore and to experiment across the environments with the various different Pikmin.
I had a lot of fun with the free content so far (chapters 1 and 2), so I'll certainly be happy to pay for Deltarune once Toby starts charging for chapters 3 onwards.
It's getting a lot of comparisons to Pikmin 2, though I didn't enjoy that one as much as the first or third game. I liked the time limits in 1 and 3, that sense of urgency gave me a reason to hurry up and optimise things. In Pikmin 2, I just ended up playing things very slow and safe, which wasn't as fun a way to play the game.
Likewise, I wasn't fussed about the caves in Pikmin 2. There's nothing wrong with them, but I feel that the larger exploration-based overworlds are the best parts of the series.
I was very hyped for Pikmin 4, but now I'm somewhat more wary on it. The demo will probably be useful for me to check out.
My expectations are fairly low for this one, just because it wouldn't be surprising if they started winding down the Switch support as they prepare for their next console. Of course, I'd be delighted if they prove me wrong tomorrow.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted Rolls Out More Updates, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Good that they're fixing things, but it should have been better at release. I'll wait for a good sale, then see what the state of the game is then.

My personal favourite of the series, glad to see they're remaking it.
Re: Professor Layton And The New World Of Steam Has Been Delayed Until 2026
I'd forgotten this was supposed to be releasing this year. I must have already assumed it was getting delayed into 2026.
Hopefully the final game will be brilliant, as long as up to the standards of the previous games then I don't mind the extra wait.
Re: Review: SHUTEN ORDER (Switch) - An Audacious Swing That Doesn't Quite Connect
I should be excited for this one. However, I'm still playing The Hundred Line, and would burn out playing another Kodaka game anytime soon.
They're clearly trying something weird and interesting here, though I am bearing the "Jack of all trades" complaint in mind.
Re: Poll: Ahead Of Silksong's Release, Are You 'Finally' Playing Hollow Knight?
No. It's on my wishlist, but it's fairly low priority. I might get it eventually, but there's plenty of other games that I'm more eager to play first.

My highlight of the Direct. The previous Rhythm Paradise games are all wonderful, so hopefully this one will also be great.
Re: Feature: "If The Game Does Not Sell Well, We May Be Done" - It's Do Or Die For Too Kyo Games & 'The Hundred Line'
I enjoyed the demo, and hope it'll do well. However, it does seem like a fairly niche game, so it's a risky move.

I played 4 Switch games for a total of 130 hours.
My top 3 most played are:
1) Monster Hunter Rise
2) Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3) WarioWare: Get It Together
Monster Hunter was the bulk of my Switch time at 93 hours. And the other Switch game I played was Suika Game (that watermelon game).
