Re: Here's What Those Lovely New amiibo Do In Metroid: Samus Returns

There's some confusion here. If the galleries, difficulty and sound tests can be unlocked normally from completing the game (but earlier on with the amiibo), then that's cool. However, if amiibo are required as well as completing the game to unlock them, then that's annoying.

Locking difficulty settings behind a paywall is always frustrating. And sound tests and galleries are usually free in games (even if effort is needed to unlock them), so charging for these does seem greedy.

So ranked mode is more of the same, which is by no means a bad thing, but I would have liked to seen them add at least one new ranked mode.

Salmon mode is looking great, and will be lots of fun with friends. Single player seems like a well deserved improvement from the first game, and is the mode I'm most interested in.

The big problem for me is the rotation system. I don't like that Salmon Run and specific ranked modes are only available at certain times. If I'm in the mood for Tower Control and they only have Rain Maker available, then that sucks.

The 10 out of 10 score seems too high for this game. From what I've read so far, I would have likely gave it an 8, or maybe a 9.
