I didn't realise Etrian Odyssey V was releasing this soon, I thought it was going to be later on this year. I'll likely pick it up before too long.

Edit: Weird, EOV is available now on eshop, but it's still 2 weeks away from the physical release. Since I'm busy with other games now, and preordering a physical copy is considerably cheaper than buying on the eshop, I may as well wait.

Re: Here Are the Key Lessons that Nintendo Learned from the Wii U

There's a lot of mistakes with the Wii U that they've so far avoided with the Switch. The big thing for me is branding. The toxic Wii U name and lack of advertisements caused some people to get confused and think that it was just a Wii accessory. Whereas Switch is a much cooler name which helps to explain the big selling point of the console.

That's a surprising amount of Day 1 paid DLC for Layton's Mystery Journey, I'm not impressed. That's very unexpected, since previous Layton games on Nintendo consoles never had paid DLC. And there wasn't any hints that it would be getting this DLC before the release.

I'm excited for this one. Should be able to play lots of it this weekend.

Edit: Seeing all that Day 1 Paid DLC for this is killing my hype. The 3DS version is seeming more and more like a ripoff now. The game is being sold at a full retail price, has paid DLC, is vastly more expensive than the mobile version, and they didn't even bother to add 3D to it.

I'm very tempted just to return my preorder and instead buy the mobile version.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch and Third-Parties - Let's Be Realistic

@JaxonH At the end of the day it's just a matter of personal preference. Portability is a very minor factor for my needs, so I'll just grab the version of the game with the best graphics. If someone wants to play a game while out and about, then the Switch version might be best for them.

I know that I've said before that it would be great if the Switch had more AAA 3rd party titles, but realistically I'd be unlikely to buy many of them on a Switch when I can play them on PS4 instead. But having that option available would be great for lots of other people, judging by how excited people are getting about a portable Skyrim or Doom or Wolfenstein 2.

It's always the exclusive titles that brings me back to Nintendo. I love my 3DS due to it having Pokemon, Professor Layton, Etrian Odyssey, Animal Crossing, and many other great games. Portability won't sell me on getting a Switch, but I'm bound to love it once the game library is a bit bigger.
