Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door For Switch?

@N00BiSH I am a slave to video game hype myself. True story: I preordered Elden Ring at gamestop back when it came out because of the hype, played 3 hours on day 1, realized almost immediately that it wasnt for me, and returned it the same day.

I really enjoyed everything about The Origami King except the battle system, but I never got around to playing TTYD back on Gamecube, so I’m pretty sure I wont be disappointed.

Re: GameStop Hit By Layoffs As Analyst Predicts 'Unsustainable' Sales Decline

Ugh, this hurts me a bit. I loved this company years ago, but my recent experiences with their services just haven’t been great. I know that many of these problems are store specific, but I’ve had too many issues with preorders not arriving the day of release, store hours not matching listed store hours on their websites resulting in wasted trips, pick-up in-store products being ‘unlocatable’ by employees, etc. I eventually gave up and started using Best Buy for physical releases.

Re: Reynatis Is An Urban Fantasy RPG From Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts Writer

@ItsATM not looking to get confrontational, it just didnt have anything truly exciting in it (for me). Unicorn Overlord we’ve all known about for some time - and yeah, looks good. I already played SMT V and I dont think Im planning on starting it over. Ender Magnolia looks great for the right audience. I played Ender Lilies and loved the art direction, but I felt the execution was more frustrating than fun honestly. Super Monkey Ball looked great, but I’ve never played one before, so I have no idea if I should be excited about it.

So there, not like there was nothing in the partner direct, just nothing that I really felt a large amount of hype for.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Predictions - What Do You Hope To See?

Notsoavid

The list is a little concerning for me. I would love to hear a confirmation and release date for Dragon Quest III, but not much else on this list is something I’m likely to play….hopefully the pokemon showcase has SOMETHING in my wheel house. Also, I am not an expert on what technically constitutes an indie game, but several games listed in this article seem to have that vibe, and nintendo already has an Indie Direct, so hopefully we will see a couple bigger budget games in here.

Re: Talking Point: If 'Switch 2' Isn't Coming Until 2025, What's Nintendo Got Up Its Sleeve This Year?

@LastFootnote I like this rule. I haven’t strictly been following it, but Ive made some real effort to finish games that I played to the middle before starting the next new release. Just finished Paper Mario The Origami King (finally, that battle system requires breaks), and I plan on finishing Age of Calamity this week, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 next week. Which games are you working on?

Re: Fate/Samurai Remnant 'DLC Vol.1' Arrives On Switch This Week

@jolteon23 the combat is more sophisticated than your average musou game in my opinion, and there are enough rpg elements to make it technically an “action rpg” if that helps sell it more for you. The story kept me fully invested for the whole game though. I really enjoyed it and plan on picking up the DLC.

Re: Nintendo Highlights New Stages In Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Switch

I’m interested in any Mario game that comes along honestly, but I’ll wait for reviews to determine how immediately this needs to be in my library. I have a fondness for captain toad treasure tracker, so I’m sure I’ll like the vibe, but just gotta know if it’s worth the price tag at release…

Re: Soapbox: After Years Of Lengthy RPG Tutorials, Golden Sun Feels Fresher Than Ever

I am actively playing this game for the first time, and I want to say that I am having a ton of fun with it, BUT I am enjoying it more now than I probably would have at launch thanks to a greater sense of nostalgia for this kind of game and it’s mechanics. I needed a lot of tutorials when I was younger. The nuances of this combat system seems to require more observation and experimentation than I would have probably been able to tolerate when pokémon was my entire raison d’être.

Re: Koei Tecmo Releases Fate/Samurai Remnant Demo On Switch Ahead Of "DLC Vol. 1" Launch

I put 55 hours into completing this game. I definitely recommend it. There are some frame rate drops in busy areas of Edo, but I didn’t experience any issues during combat. It really takes the building blocks of a musou game but does something decidedly different. The combat is fun, and if that ever starts to lose it’s luster, the story is great and will carry you to the end.
