This game is the most fun Switch 2 exclusive for me so far. I tried playing Kirby Air Riders this weekend, was extremely disappointed by that city trial mode, but found solace in Hyrule Warriors. Great soundtrack, great voice acting, great variety of gameplay. This is a musou masterpiece.

I played a bunch last night. It’s a very visually busy game, but it runs great and looks good.

@MARl0 not trying to troll here, but it’s funny to me because I’ve neither played a GTA game nor have any close friends that ever really played it. I know it’s big, but when you say “GTA exists “ I audibly said “oh yeah, I forgot that existed “

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear! Honestly what a weekend ahead between this and the kirby air riders network test!

@YunoboCo Right? Im rarely so confident that I will love a game that really so little has been revealed about. I’ve been slowly getting psyched up for this game for a couple of weeks now.

Tough choices will be made over the next two months. Ive already preordered Hyrule Warriors, and Kirby Air Riders is a must-buy for me. After that though, the cold weather and my mood may prefer the idea of an open world assassin’s creed game rather than the claustrophobic corridors of a metroid game, but we’ll see, Im waiting to be really excited about Metroid Prime 4 just yet - a demo would help me prioritize my purchases.

Pretty great list of games here. I would definitely be picking up Tales of Xillia if Hyrule Warriors AoI wasn’t releasing next week.

This is one of my favorite kinds of junk food gaming. I would buy a nintendo musou crossover game every year if they released them at that cadence.

I preordered this game as soon as I could. I loved both the first Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity. Couldn’t really see why I wouldn’t definitely want to play this as soon as possible. That being said, maybe I should finally go fight Ganondorf and finish the main story of ToTK before this game comes out…

Nope. I like DLC. Sorry everyone. As long as it’s a good value, bring on the DLC. Keeps the player base around for an online game. No updates means everyone moves on to the next multiplayer game in a few weeks.

I love the attention this game is getting, and Im definitely planning on watching, but it’s a little weird that Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment feels a little ignored. It’s coming out before Kirby Air Riders and hasn’t received much attention from Nintendo’s marketing department by comparison.

Demo was fun. I enjoyed Persona 5 Royal (and just about every other game that Atlus has ever made). Looking forward to playing this. The visuals weren’t quite as crisp as I was hoping in the demo, but it’s not a problem. I just feel like this could have played on switch 1 with the right amount of optimization.

@Iconoclysm I see what you mean. I made a non-stated implication here. Many people accuse Nintendo Life in the comments section of giving review scores biased in favor of Nintendo published games. I was merely using the example of a score lower than the average on metacritic to suggest that this is not the case. I would certainly agree that objectivity is important to strive for when reviewing a game.

Look at you NintendoLife! Scoring a Nintendo published game below the Metacritic average (81 as of the time I posted this) shows objectivity and independence. That being said, as I Pokemon fan I will probably disagree with your score considering that I enjoyed Scarlet and Violet just fine lol.

@TheExile285 SW Outlaws is pretty enjoyable and one of the best looking games on the console. I’d recommend it. I just finished the main quest line last night. It’s a game that's broadly devoid of frustration and simultaneously pretty immersive- which makes it pleasant for after a stressful day at work. Don’t expect a ton of challenge though.

I’d buy both. I just finished the main quest line in Star Wars Outlaws last night, so I’m certainly pretty interested in Ubisoft’s take on a historic Japanese setting.

I hope so! This is definitely on my ‘must play’ list!

As a visual novel fan, it would be super cool if a translation of the original was available in the game center of the battle hub.

I, for one, am very happy the DLC was announced in advance. I know it’s not usually well received by fans because of the perception that the game “isn’t finished”. However, it does mean that this game will be supported longer than Legends Arceus was, and with the rather exciting new online multiplayer mode, I’m glad the the community will have motivation to revisit after completing the base game.

This was second biggest surprise for me. I’m already sold. Looking forward to this visual feast big time.

I definitely don’t LOVE this game. I am ‘soldiering on’ to quote an earlier article because I can definitely objectively admire it. Currently working on the Widow boss. To its credit so far, I havent yet felt particularly lost as to where to go next and the devs added clever ways to shorten backtracking time which takes away from the frustration. It’s no Metroid Dread though (my ideal metroidvania).

I’ll keep soldiering on. I dunno though. I dont play Souls games because I don’t get the big dopamine boost from beating a boss on the 15th try like some people, so the risk of me falling off this game is pretty high when the next game on my “must play” list comes out.

I like this game. It plays surprisingly well. Im not a full on Star Wars eccentric, but I enjoy the series (except 7-9). The game is perfectly charming. Definitely gets the vibe right. The gameplay isn’t probably deep enough to keep a hard-core rpg brain captive for very long, but as far as an exciting adventure game - this scores pretty high marks from me.

I played this game all weekend. It was visually very pleasant - more so in handheld I thought - it was definitely a “Switch 1 couldn’t do this” moment.

I’m up for a survival horror game going into Fall, and this seems to be the only big option on Switch 2. I’ll hold out for the review here though.

Glad I decided to keep my preorder. I’ve been itching for a new open world adventure on Switch 2, and this looks promising.

@CJD87 Wild Hearts plays just fine on Switch 2, glad you’re enjoying it. It’s really an unpolished gem, but a gem nonetheless.

Sorry NintendoLife, I don’t know GVG and I don’t know this Bowling guy. There are lots of people who love hating on the Switch 2 out there. If the video footage shared earlier in this chat is legit, then I expect your review to be a little gentler regarding the performance. I’ll keep my preorder for now, thanks.

I perceive this to be more or less true. Some of the compromises that they have made have alienated various groups of gamers, but each first party Nintendo Direct is celebrated like a party amongst the fans. When Im watching, I’m texting my friends in real time because it’s so exciting to share - as I imagine many others are. To make the opposite claim that Nintendo doesn’t understand its fans would be wildly inaccurate, but everyone has different interests and priorities, and clearly not everyone feels heard by the Big N, but collectively, it seems to generally know what we will buy.

@johnedwin did you see Felix’s video of the FFVII remake footage? It looks like it runs pretty well. Frame rate isn't a big deal for me as long as it doesn't drop frames. The fact that the Switch 2 can play it at all is already a win in my opinion.

This game definitely has my attention. I’m kind of done with Summer, and I’m looking for something spooky to get Fall/Autumn off to a good start.

I’m more interested in Borderlands 4 on the next screen 👀 (but I do hope that this game runs acceptably for those of you who want to play it)

I played this through twice on PS5. It was an awesome experience, and I would love to hang out in the Sector 7 slums again, but I am more interested in playing Rebirth since I just wasn’t able to actually play through that game due to life complications at the time. I may double dip for this one anyway though because the last thing we need is SquareEnix getting fed up with poor sales numbers and refusing to bring Rebirth to the console due to “poor interest” in the series.

Please SquareEnix. I would like to give you money in exchange for letting me play this on Switch 2. I dont own a gaming PC, and Switch is my primary console for several reasons. I honestly don’t care if it’s a 150 gig download. I want it!

It’s probably nothing, but the game IS coming out right in the middle of spooky season, hopefully there’s a spooky vibe element!

I kind of feel like this game should be entirely free. Isn’t it just a platform for competitive matches where the user will supply their own Pokemon from the mainline games through Home? I feel like the pokemon company could justify this as a free game to encourage the users to continue purchasing the mainline entries.

I’ve already preordered the physical edition of this. Thanks for the preview discussion. Just about everything you said appeals to me, so I’m feeling pretty excited about it (particularly the prospect of multiplayer co-op which is always a selling point for me)

Yay! I was hoping there would be a multiplayer mode in this game. The trailer looks fun and reminds me a little of Pokemon Unite.

This was already one of my most anticipated titles of the year so I appreciate the preview. The combat looks exciting. I think I may be a little more onboard with the urban setting than Zion is though lol.

I think it’s pretty cool.

I always go into indie world presentations with tempered expectations, but I’ll be watching for sure.

Um after playing through the demo, this is one of my most anticipated games. I dont really understand the negative response in this comment section. The visuals, setting, and combat were all really lovely. It hit this wonderful balance between engaging and cozy.

I thought this was a great presentation! Persona 3 reload, a new square enix IP, and a new Octopath Traveler!? What a great showing for JRPG lovers. The only gripe I have is that the only multiplayer focused game that I recall was Apex Legends. I like to play with other people online.

@Friendly Yes! A resolution improvement and frame rate upgrade would be wonderful! (I can’t actually say what the frame rate is like on Switch 2 though because Age of Calamity and Three Hopes play so much better)

@Friendly Fate Samurai/Remnant was released on Switch 1. Are you hoping for a switch 2 edition?

Very exciting! We definitely need a first party direct REALLY soon, but there are definitely some big possibilities. Rumor has it that Assassins Creed Shadows might get ported, so I’d like to see that. Any Atlus ports would be welcome. Also, I’d like to see more about the new Daemon x Machina game.
