Can Bandai just give us a new Dynasty Warriors Gundam entry please haha? That was one of my favorite Musou games. I’ll give this a try during the beta. I love Gundam, but most games using the IP fall flat for me. My favorite was Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes on the Dreamcast.

I’m not looking for moral ambiguity, I’m looking to save Hyrule - with either a master sword or, apparently, finely crafted furniture options!

Im like 40% disappointed and 60% hyped? I LOVE detective visual novels.

Gatcha titles are divisive, but my experiences with Genshin and Honkai Star Rail (didn’t play 3rd impact) were both very positive. I haven’t forgotten the promised port of Genshin that technically hasn’t been cancelled yet…

@LadyCharlie thank you for the heads up. I played NES and late Atari games when I was a kid but only what my parents already owned, so I missed a bunch. When I read this article I was wondering which ones were worth checking out.

By the time Zelda comes out in late September, I might have to resort to playing games from my backlog GASP or worse! I may even have to read a book or go outside! 😭 (for real though, happy for those of you who will be playing Trails through Daybreak, but it feels like a slow summer for switch gamers otherwise)

Im pleasantly surprised NintendoLife reviewed this one. I preordered this back in December and have been happily working my way through it since its release. The translation is excellent and lovely to read.

Tactics games don’t rank amongst my favorite genres, but I am a fan of Goblin Slayer and pixel art. I’ll pick it up if it has a reasonable critic reception.

I will be buying this day 1. I loved 3, owned this one on 3DS but never got to play it. Wish Nintendo would provide access to the first one somehow.

I would be very happy to see this on a nintendo console. Not sure how stable a large mmorpg like FFXIV would play on the switch, but definitely on the next gen. Frankly, I’d like to see Nintendo develop their own IP mmorpg for the next console 🙂

I liked the original game a lot. Though honestly, I hope this is more than just a simple port. The game was good enough to deserve some effort from Ubisoft on the remaster.

@Ryu_Niiyama I always value your comments, because honestly, yeah, I’m probably going to buy most or all of the first party titles - just need to know how much I need to budget month by month haha

I may have amnesia, but aren’t a lot of the things he’s criticizing also a big part of Luigi’s Mansion 3? Feel free to correct me, but the ghost designs and controls that Felix described certainly sound like my experience playing 3…

Just rolled credits on TTYD about 15 minutes ago. Such an enjoyable title. I’m hoping sales continue.

I owned a 3DS copy but my 3DS died only a short way into this game, so Im looking forward to revisiting this. I went ahead and preordered this, but probably gunna save this for October 👻

Played some yesterday, definitely a little basic, but way more fun than I was expecting - which is great because I don’t anticipate much multiplayer-wise on the switch over the coming months.

This game looks pretty gosh darn cool. Urban anime action with a (probably) convoluted plot is right up my alley (looking at you Astral Chain). I’m just worried that it when it finally releases, it will be another forgettable 6/10 critically scored game with the same old issues of repetitive gameplay, forgettable characters and environments, etc. I’m really hoping for a banger though. We’ll see.

Nintendo walks a tight rope with social issues. It’s good to celebrate characters like Vivian, but if you make too much of a buzz, it will become a controversy and be bad for their business. Nintendo’s whole image relies on its broad appeal.

@N00BiSH I am a slave to video game hype myself. True story: I preordered Elden Ring at gamestop back when it came out because of the hype, played 3 hours on day 1, realized almost immediately that it wasnt for me, and returned it the same day.

I really enjoyed everything about The Origami King except the battle system, but I never got around to playing TTYD back on Gamecube, so I’m pretty sure I wont be disappointed.

This is an unexpectedly low score for this game considering the reception on other platforms. Must have been some pretty bad performance issues.

I don’t believe that I am chill enough as a human being to appreciate Endless Ocean, but I’d definitely enjoy a Tetris 99 event!

I’m okay with all of this except my extremely visceral dislike of all things Souls-related. I would be quite mad about a Zelda-Souls game. I would definitely buy a Kirby RPG day 1 though lol

@anoyonmus it’s up for preorder on Bestbuy’s website. Looks like there’s a slightly more expensive version with a couple of knick knacks too.

Ugh, this hurts me a bit. I loved this company years ago, but my recent experiences with their services just haven’t been great. I know that many of these problems are store specific, but I’ve had too many issues with preorders not arriving the day of release, store hours not matching listed store hours on their websites resulting in wasted trips, pick-up in-store products being ‘unlocatable’ by employees, etc. I eventually gave up and started using Best Buy for physical releases.

I literally love everything about this.

I haven’t played this one, and I’m happy for all those who hate micro transactions, but it only came to the switch 2 years ago. Kinda feels like a rather short life cycle for an MMO for people who were heavily invested in it.

@ItsATM not looking to get confrontational, it just didnt have anything truly exciting in it (for me). Unicorn Overlord we’ve all known about for some time - and yeah, looks good. I already played SMT V and I dont think Im planning on starting it over. Ender Magnolia looks great for the right audience. I played Ender Lilies and loved the art direction, but I felt the execution was more frustrating than fun honestly. Super Monkey Ball looked great, but I’ve never played one before, so I have no idea if I should be excited about it.

So there, not like there was nothing in the partner direct, just nothing that I really felt a large amount of hype for.

That trailer looked cooler than literally anything I saw at the partner direct.

Honestly, I didnt want anything from Gamefreak for this upcoming presentation UNTIL I felt my heart sink during the partner showcase because very little excited me. So, now I’m hoping for something a little exciting from the pokemon day presentation. Please more than new cards and mobile game updates…

Kinda weird, do you think they will release the extra content as a paid DLC? I don’t think I plan on completely repurchasing this game.

Im interested. I havent played a Super Monkey Ball game since the gamecube, but this looks like it could be a fun online multiplayer experience.

The switch definitely needs more online games, so this great news. I loved the first one, didnt get a chance to play much of 2 though, so this will be a treat!

The list is a little concerning for me. I would love to hear a confirmation and release date for Dragon Quest III, but not much else on this list is something I’m likely to play….hopefully the pokemon showcase has SOMETHING in my wheel house. Also, I am not an expert on what technically constitutes an indie game, but several games listed in this article seem to have that vibe, and nintendo already has an Indie Direct, so hopefully we will see a couple bigger budget games in here.

@LastFootnote you gotta finish Super Mario RPG when you can - loved every minute of that one (that was also one that I finished a couple of weeks ago). I’m up to the Gannon fight in ToTK but I just can’t bring myself to bring it to an end. Gotta finish Mario versus Donkey Kong this week too to justify picking up Side Order!

@UltimateOtaku91 I completely forgot about the Dragon Quest 3 remake! If they announced a release date for that it would totally make my day!

@LastFootnote I like this rule. I haven’t strictly been following it, but Ive made some real effort to finish games that I played to the middle before starting the next new release. Just finished Paper Mario The Origami King (finally, that battle system requires breaks), and I plan on finishing Age of Calamity this week, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 next week. Which games are you working on?
