@JakedaArbok I agree that it definitely had a big luck element, but it plays out like an old school memory matching game. The winner is usually lucky, but deduction can keep you from last place usually. I dunno, I kinda enjoy it.

I’m really not sure what went wrong here. This was one of my favorite games of the year.

I respect the articles author’s desire to be impartial and give a wide variety of review summaries, but a bunch of the most respected sites for these reviews definitely were very positive. Currently sitting at 86 on Metacritic.

Im actually more curious about how Guilty Gear Strive will play on switch. I only have so much time in my gaming life, and fighting games already only take up a fraction of that. I remember some of these being fun years ago though, so I’m excited for those getting this one.

Glad they’re giving a more fleshed out answer to the Radjen question. Looking forward to this DLC. This was one of the better games I played this year.

I’ve never played Minecraft (I am, alas, too old to have played it younger), but the trailer for the movie looked kinda fun - knowing zero contextual elements about the game except building things.

No one will ever reach this comment, but I’ve been an avid metroid fan for years, so I recently picked up the GBA collection on Switch to try out the other side of the “metroidvania” portmanteau, and these games are quite hard! 5 hours in suddenly the difficulty ramps up. Metroid has treated me so gently over the years by comparison.

@anoyonmus right!? Like okay, let’s pretend that they simplify a lot of the animations and roll back the visuals, there still aren’t a lot of fighting games on switch with roll back netcode because of the added technical challenges. If this game runs well, looks even marginally acceptable, AND doesn’t explode the console - a miracle may have occurred. But hey, Im always hoping for a miracle.

Oh my gosh, I can’t wait for this game. I went back and finished the Minish Cap because I needed a Zelda fix and couldn’t wait until the end of September 😆

I feel like there was a much bigger focus on the multiplayer aspect of this game in the open network beta test than is reflected in this review. It did seem to run the online multiplayer pretty well and with a fair amount of stability for a switch game from what I recall.

Ive never played any of these. I never had a DS so I’m looking forward to this batch!

It’s a little niche for sure. Honestly, I would argue that it’s done pretty well by the critics considering.

Ive played the demo and committed to the preorder, but I wanted to mention that I am grateful for text translations that are in languages other than just English and Japanese - like most visual novel releases. There are plenty of fans of the visual novel genre that are grateful to read in their preferred language. Japanese only dub doesn’t bother me at all.

Just finished part 3 of this demo. Definitely intriguing, but the pacing up until this point suggests it will be a slow burn for sure.

This is definitely a tough topic, because I would definitely pay whatever it takes. Nintendo is my brand and I’ve loved it since I was a child. However, a $500 (US) price point would make it rather inaccessible for some, and I cant help but feel like that spoils some of the fun. Hopefully it retails for closer to $400 (US).

I mean, people love Dave the Diver and Little Nightmares. Wont be putting anyone down here, but I agree with the article’s author’s sentiment. Zelda is, in fact, coming. So how much I care about other games (other than Emio Im pretty invested in that) amounts to little.

It’s fun that the title is Tintin Reporter, and one of the definitions of the French word Reporter means to push back (like a deadline) - almost as if Microids decided to delay the game in a meeting and forgot to change the working title in the excel document.

As someone who hasn’t played any previous entries into the Famicom Detective Club series, I would say that the Prologue and Chapter 1 are off to a good start. I love detective games.

Awesome! I was just complaining that I felt like they forgot about this game. I enjoy creative releases. I’m on board to start this game a little earlier than release date.

It releases in 2 weeks, but Nintendo doesn’t seem to be giving it much coverage - just the teaser and the one overview trailer to my knowledge. I know it’s probably better to know less going into this story, but I’m excited for this release and would like to see Nintendo share a little of my enthusiasm…

Emio is already preordered. The open network test for Gundam Breakers 4 was enjoyable as well, so I’ll probably pick that up. Zelda feels like forever away still, but that’s a day 1 purchase.

Yeah, I thought this was a bit weird when I saw the winner’s video. I wasn’t able to replicate this myself. It’s great to think creatively for a solution, but it does spoil the fun of good competition a little when this kind of thing happens.

Is there a middle ground where I can believe that Engage was more fun to play but it’s story was kinda 3rd rate when compared to 3 Houses?

Can Bandai just give us a new Dynasty Warriors Gundam entry please haha? That was one of my favorite Musou games. I’ll give this a try during the beta. I love Gundam, but most games using the IP fall flat for me. My favorite was Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes on the Dreamcast.

Gatcha titles are divisive, but my experiences with Genshin and Honkai Star Rail (didn’t play 3rd impact) were both very positive. I haven’t forgotten the promised port of Genshin that technically hasn’t been cancelled yet…

@LadyCharlie thank you for the heads up. I played NES and late Atari games when I was a kid but only what my parents already owned, so I missed a bunch. When I read this article I was wondering which ones were worth checking out.

By the time Zelda comes out in late September, I might have to resort to playing games from my backlog GASP or worse! I may even have to read a book or go outside! 😭 (for real though, happy for those of you who will be playing Trails through Daybreak, but it feels like a slow summer for switch gamers otherwise)

Im pleasantly surprised NintendoLife reviewed this one. I preordered this back in December and have been happily working my way through it since its release. The translation is excellent and lovely to read.

Tactics games don’t rank amongst my favorite genres, but I am a fan of Goblin Slayer and pixel art. I’ll pick it up if it has a reasonable critic reception.

I will be buying this day 1. I loved 3, owned this one on 3DS but never got to play it. Wish Nintendo would provide access to the first one somehow.

I would be very happy to see this on a nintendo console. Not sure how stable a large mmorpg like FFXIV would play on the switch, but definitely on the next gen. Frankly, I’d like to see Nintendo develop their own IP mmorpg for the next console 🙂
