These are the worst articles. You can't add a game that was just released to a best of list. At least wait a year or 2!

They're...all on the list?

If you don't like the new game then rate it low.

If you haven't played the new game...well...

@jesse_dylan

Cursed to Golf has a below average rating by users on Steam, with reviews like this:

"...for a roguelike it takes WAAAAAAAY too long for a run, looking at several hours per run, maybe even a day if your unlucky, and worst of all it really feels like you never make any progress, even when you do"

For anyone confused about the free Arcade "hub" download, the 2 separate games, the same games as add-ons, and the 2 DLC characters, this should help:

"We're happy to announce that the RetroRealms Double Feature Digital Launch Bundle, including both Halloween & Ash vs Evil Dead games plus Laurie Strode & Kelly Maxwell character DLCs, will be available for a limited time across all platforms on launch day, October 18, for $49.99!" (that's USD)

Did you play it with people? Or alone?

Solo it looks like it would be about as much fun as playing Mario Party by yourself.

It reminds me of people that "don't see the point" of classic arcade games (Pac-Man, Asteroids, Defender etc.). The high score was the thing. Competing with others was the whole point. Getting a couple of friends in the same room together to try and outdo each other's high scores will always be fun.

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th October (North America)

Will probably get these 3, but I'm waiting for Switch reviews just to make sure the ports work out:

  • 8-Bit Adventures 2
  • Crow Country
  • Faith: The Unholy Trinity

The first game has a half dozen great PC reviews.
The last 2 games have some solid critic ratings, and are rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam by a few thousand users (the highest possible rating).

My sentiments exactly!

The only other game I'm definitely getting is:
Arcade Archives BLAST OFF which is a Namco sequel to Bosconian.

So far it looks like a very thin week.

@ShaneReactions as a 41 year old who has never played the OG Zelda i really need to change this.

I would argue that Super Mario Bros. was the best game ever made when it was released in 1985. And The Legend of Zelda was the best game every made when it was released the next year (in Japan).

Don't be shy to hit online guides though. Secrets were not made obvious in game design back then.

Burning. Every. Bush. is quite tedious now in modern times.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
In time... Gotta finish TOTK first.

Cash Cow DX
I like these arcade games that play like they are from 1982. I loved Donut Dodo, so I'm giving this dev more love.

Iron Meat
Screenwave Media has another game I rather enjoyed called Prison City, and this looks to have decent Contra vibes, so I'm interested.

JALECOlle Famicom Ver. Bio Warrior DAN The Increaser War
Besides the hilarious title I'm intrigued by this. Not to mention, I'm interested in these unique Jaleco releases. They almost remind me of Sunsoft in how they're not the most memorable company, but they have those things you don't soon forget.

Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition
I love WORMS and honestly haven't play a WORMS game in years, but this takes me back to the days of when I first discovered it. And this reviewed well, so I'm down for it.

You listed 4 of the games I'm getting (plus Cash Cow, which I'm on the fence about, I have Donut Dodo but it seems that is more highly praised than Cash Cow?).

Don't really need to add anything about Echoes of Wisdom.

Iron Meat has GREAT early reviews, the developers (Retroware) also published Love 3 and the Angry Video Game Nerd games. They've got Toxic Crusaders coming this year and The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest coming next year.

JALECOlle Famicom Ver. Bio Warrior DAN The Increaser War was a Famicom Japan-exclusive...until now! There were plans back in the day to release it in the West with the title: Bashi Bazook: Morphoid Masher.

Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, I saw it for a long time in the upcoming game listings, but until the NL review I had NO IDEA that it was a Digital Eclipse special edition, with all those cool museum documentary features (like with their Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, The Making of Karateka, Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story). I'm in for all of those!

Re: Lunar Remastered Collection Revives Beloved '90s JRPG Series On Switch In Spring 2025

MontyCircus

A while ago I googled for lists of the best Sega Genesis games. I looked for long lists each at least 50 games long, that were ranked. I assigned points based on rank and added them all up. I was left with 16 lists, 396 unique games and 1,465 total entries.

Lunar: The Silver Star ended up #90
Lunar: Eternal Blue / Lunar 2 ended up #53

Worth noting that not every list included Sega CD games, so they probably deserve to be even higher.

Getting:

  • BZZZT (already had it on Steam)
  • Loddlenaut (rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" from over 1,500 Steam users, the highest possible rating)

Waiting for Switch reviews:

  • Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (the original Wii game had poor performance, camera issues, graphical issues, if those are solved it could be worth playing)
  • No Case Should Remain Unsolved (rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" by over 4,000 users on Steam. I was going to pick this up on its launch sale, but waited for Switch reviews that never came...)
  • The Karate Kid: Street Rumble (sign me up for beat 'em ups! Just have to make sure it's a good game, and also good on Switch)

Re: Every Nintendo Switch Online SNES Game Ranked

MontyCircus

@batmanbud2

Then you've got to give props to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. A game so good that it received rave reviews on re-release nearly 3 decades later.

SNES games are timeless. Fondly remembered because it was the height of pixel art and 2D games before primitive 3D polygons took over.

Just look at the difference between a top SNES game and a top N64 or PS1 game. The latter look and play pretty rough now, even though they came out later and are "more advanced".

And gamers are still craving that SNES style.

Super Mario Wonder looks like a Super Mario World sequel, and was nominated for Game of the Year.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom looks like a Link to the Past sequel.

I think this list highlights how the NES and SNES are far from the perfect consoles they are made out to be.

There are tons of great SNES games that aren't on the NSO. Just Square itself was banging out RPG all-timers, and they were SNES games. This list is just the tip of the iceberg.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's SNES Library With Four More Titles

MontyCircus

IGN ranked Battletoads & Double Dragon – The Ultimate Team the #76 best NES game of all-time.

It looks like The SNES version was criticized for being a cash grab, straight port of the NES game, and does not take advantage of the SNES' advantages. So, very similar to the NES title.

I'm just happy to see the first Battletoads game on the Switch!
Hopefully the original game in the series follows shortly!

Re: Soapbox: Sony's Insane PS5 Pro Price Highlights The Delicate Balance Nintendo Must Strike With 'Switch 2'

MontyCircus

The Switch OLED is $350 USD. So Switch 2 is going to be more than that.

I see LCD Steam Deck on sale right now for under $500 USD.

$400 would be around what the original Switch was at launch, adjusted for inflation today. That would be an incredible price.

$450 would be accepted if the specs are impressive.

$500 or more and it's a less "WOW"-level compelling "sweeping the Internet" sort of price.

But if there are similar "Lite" versions launching at the same time, at $400 or lower, that might work.

$400 though, if they can do it. It would really be something. "Half the price of PS5 Pro!" (with disc drive and stand) would be great marketing.

Ninja Gaiden was Tecmo. You might have meant Shinobi, luckily those are available.

But yeah, they pulled the plug so fast on their Sega Ages line of games.

I want to play Zaxxon!

Re: Book Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom: Master Works - Monumental, But Still Leaves Questions

MontyCircus

Sounds like a lot of this book is "the making of"? Like a documentary in book form? That is interesting to me.

I skipped the "Hyrule Historia" because it sounded like chronology to a series with no real chronology or story.
I skipped the others because they sounded like art books.

But this and "Creating a Champion" sound interesting, if they focus a lot on "the making of" Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
