Hopefully someone who owns the game can comment on this article later and share if the game has been drastically improved with this patch. I would hate to only have "some of the issues" corrected instead of most, if not all of them.

I haven't played it, but here is a sampling from Reddit:

"I have just tried it on handheld and it's definitely better, but still laggy and not good enough for a Soulslike"

"On Switch? Still abysmal. Started a fresh save and it starts out promising, then slowly devolves into a low fps fest."

Sounds like it's still: "Best played on other platforms."

I think (Nintendo's "private idaho" aside) that consoles will continue to exist simply because they are cheaper, more convenient, and more secure than PCs. Even though exclusives are nearly a lost art (thankfully), these factors just make a console a much more reasonable purchase in a lot of situations.

Personally, I love my PC and Switch and will probably never own a 'real' console lol

I think the "consoles going away" idea is that they will be replaced by televisions via streaming. You won't need a box at all.

Right now you can get an Amazon firestick, plug it into your TV and you have an Xbox. By all accounts, it doesn't work very well at the moment, but a few years down the line...

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th November (North America)

MontyCircus

Getting:

  • Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 (they say better than the first!)
  • Mission in Snowdriftland (a video game advent calendar is too cool to pass up!)
  • The Epyx Games - Sports Collection

I'm interested in the EGGCONSOLE games but wish there was somewhere that picked through them to recommend which of them are:

  • good and fun
  • the lack of English doesn't matter (they're all in Japanese)

Re: Three Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Games Have Been Added To Switch Online's Expansion Pack

MontyCircus

A while ago I googled for lists of the best Sega Genesis games. I looked for long lists each at least 50 games long, that were ranked. I assigned points based on rank and added them all up. I was left with 16 lists, 396 unique games and 1,465 total entries.

Vectorman ended up tied for #46 best Genesis game.
Toejam & Earl 2: Panic on Funkotron was tied for #76.
Mercs was tied for #117.

Vectorman and Toejam & Earl 2: Panic on Funkotron were already included in the Sega Genesis Classics collection, which is being delisted forever on December 6th by the way, better snatch that up while you can!

This Genesis version of Mercs is new to the Switch. The Japanese version of the original arcade game is available in the Capcom Arcade Stadium collection, as others have mentioned already.

Ain't no party like Mario Party. The only things that causes more fights between family members and friends is Monopoly.

Most people play Monopoly with house rules, where money (like taxes, etc.) get put into the middle of the board and are "won" by anyone who lands on "Free Parking". This pumps more money into the economy, making it much more difficult for anyone to go bankrupt and be eliminated. That is the main reason why Monopoly is horrible and never ends (though there are others of course, it is a 120 year old game after all).

For people complaining that DLC shouldn't be included: why?

Elden Ring won in 2022.
Let's say Elden Ring: Shadows of the Erdtree wins this year.
Then they say, "hey, we're on a roll, why stop now?" and they add more expansions.
Elden Ring: Fires of the Crystal Shore wins in 2025.
Elden Ring: Swamps of the Dreaded Fate wins in 2026.
Elden Ring: Caves of the Wretched wins in 2027.
Elden RIng: Guys I think we made a mistake wins in 2028.
Elden Ring: Maybe we should have had a DLC category? wins in 2029.
Elden Ring: Or maybe DLC should be in 'Ongoing Game' or something? wins in 2030.

Re: Review: Rage Of The Dragons NEO (Switch) - A Fabulous Version Of A Fantastic Fighter

MontyCircus

A while ago I googled for lists of the best Neo Geo games. I looked for ranked lists at least 25 games long. I ended up finding 7 qualifying lists with 132 unique games and a total of 413 separate entries.

Rage of the Dragons ended up the #106 best Neo Geo game.

It's known as a very good "B-tier" fighter. But now NintendoLife has given it the same score as 5 other Neo Geo fighters:

  • Garou: Mark of the Wolves
  • The King of Fighters '98: The Slugfest
  • Samurai Shodown II
  • The Last Blade 2
  • The Last Blade

All 5 of those games made the Top 11.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th November (North America)

MontyCircus

Getting:

  • Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
(they want us to play this one first before I & II, because III is a prequel to the first 2 games, and they have added story elements that make playing III first the best way to tackle the trilogy)
  • Arcade Archives VS. The Quest of Ki
    (Former Japan exclusive alert!)
  • Irem Collection Volume 2
(includes 2 early run 'n gun games by the team that would go on to make Metal Slug! And another, Air Duel a shmup that has never been released outside Japan before!)

Waiting for Reviews:

  • Stray
(It doesn't look like the visuals on Switch will hold up at all, but let's see...)

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th November (North America)

MontyCircus

  • Mario & Luigi: Brothership
  • Tetris Forever (Another Digital Eclipse museum collection! Includes 15 games, some never before released outside of Japan, and includes the original Russian computer version!)
  • Angel at Dusk (rated "Overwhelmingly Positive" by nearly 1,000 users on Steam, the highest possible rating)
  • Arcade Archives RIOT (An incredibly unique-looking shooting gallery game, where your character is in the middle plane, and can shoot forward to the next plane, but also BACKWARD towards the screen at enemies that pop up in the foreground! It's so cool!)

From Reddit:

hey folks, dev here! there's a patch coming soon for auto-saving on the switch. and another that'll be submitted after that improving general performance.

patches for consoles have to go through a formal review process so they can take a little longer to get live than on PC!

And, when asked if the Switch physical edition will include the upcoming patches:

Yep! That's why it's not shipping until next year. We're waiting until the builds settle before manufacturing

Cursed to Golf has a below average rating by users on Steam, with reviews like this:

"...for a roguelike it takes WAAAAAAAY too long for a run, looking at several hours per run, maybe even a day if your unlucky, and worst of all it really feels like you never make any progress, even when you do"

For anyone confused about the free Arcade "hub" download, the 2 separate games, the same games as add-ons, and the 2 DLC characters, this should help:

"We're happy to announce that the RetroRealms Double Feature Digital Launch Bundle, including both Halloween & Ash vs Evil Dead games plus Laurie Strode & Kelly Maxwell character DLCs, will be available for a limited time across all platforms on launch day, October 18, for $49.99!" (that's USD)

Did you play it with people? Or alone?

Solo it looks like it would be about as much fun as playing Mario Party by yourself.

It reminds me of people that "don't see the point" of classic arcade games (Pac-Man, Asteroids, Defender etc.). The high score was the thing. Competing with others was the whole point. Getting a couple of friends in the same room together to try and outdo each other's high scores will always be fun.
