Getting this one because of a couple of glowing reviews, and about 2,400 Steam users giving it their highest possible rating:

• Shogun Showdown

I count 4 "must-have" games in the first collection, and 3 in the second collection.

I don't think these collections will be good value unless they are $15 or $20 (individual games are around $5 on sale).

Unless you just are reeeally interested in checking out a bunch of mediocre-to-bad NeoGeo games.

As soon as the Direct says: "fully backwards compatible with every Switch game, physical and digital"...

I will SMASH that pre-order button so fast!

If it's an early spring release, then an early winter reveal makes sense. As you can see, it happened before. In fact, it happened last time.

Especially if it is backwards compatible.

That would go down pretty well. And would not hurt sales of games.

Would there be less Switches sold this Christmas? I guess? But would affect only a few naive people living under a rock that don't know that the new one is coming very, very soon.

It would be cool for this kind of thing to come to the NSO.

In one of his videos, Sakurai said if you release a sequel to a hit game, that is very similar to the one before, you can expect it to sell about half as much as the previous one (without a new, innovative gameplay hook that makes it fresh).

For me, a good example is Sonic Superstars.

I thought I'd read before that Nintendo workers often brought games in development home with them to see what their families thought of them?

I'm not into anime visual novels generally, but Nintendo's first "M-rated" game had me intrigued.

Then the reviews were "good-ish" but definitely not "great" so I passed.

Seeing the headline, I immediately wished that Princess Peach game had a hard mode, as hearing it was more for youngins scared me off...

When I was younger, "story" was what happened for a couple of seconds between a game's levels.

Now, in a lot of games, "gameplay" is what happens for a couple of seconds between "story".

Pretty fantastic month of little indie games!

The original NES game is on the NSO, not sure if you know, but maybe others don't!

The NES version recently made international headlines because that kid "beat Tetris". So it's very cool that it is being re-released for the first time.

Don't let the whiners fool you. Nintendo could announce the NSO is adding Chrono Trigger, the entire GameCube library, and they're paying off all Nintendo users' student loans, mortgages and credit card debt in full.

And they would still just moan and complain. Day after day.

I prefer the old Tetris like this, without those modern assist lines to help you prevent dropping it in the wrong place.

That frustration was part of the fun.

It has been a barren few weeks, but there's usually still a game or 2 worth a look.

I think the point of it is to prevent people from hogging the experiences. So it will give you like a "game over", and you'll have to "sign in" with a different access card to continue, forcing you to go do something else in the museum and letting everyone have a chance to have fun.

As long as it's backwards compatible I will pay any price.
Especially if it is more powerful, to play PS4-level games.
And more disk space would be nice.

In AdventureGamers' 2011 list of the "Top 100 All-Time Adventure Games", this was #4.

A rare "Nothing for me this week" from me.
But they should have listed the Arcade Archives release Tecmo Stackers, a Puyo Puyo clone...but a fun little twist on it.

For anyone wondering, the developers, WayForward, made the Shantae series, River City Girls series, Dawn of the Monsters, etc.

They announced recently they will be adding new modes, drip-feed-update-style (like with Nintendo sports games).

I'm hopeful that eventually the multiplayer will be good?

Yup, loving all of old Japan-exclusives getting re-released!

I have everything you listed except I didn't get the Great Yokai Battle collection because I just wanted the old games, so I got the other collection without the new one.

But did you get the Ninja JaJaMaru: The Lost RPGs collection? I don't believe that is included in the Great Yokai Battle Deluxe collection.

Hmm...maybe I should give the new Great Yokai Battle game another look. It was just 80% off, that would be enough to entice me.

A Japan-exclusive that's a bona-fide classic? Nice!

I keep googling from time to time in hopes of hearing that the game "plays great on Switch now!" But I think we can give up hope at this point.

• On Switch it plays at 30fps. Every other platform it plays at 60fps.
• I read that that it is an inconsistent 30fps, that there are drops etc.
• I read that there is input lag, that you can easily feel compared to the first game.
• I read that there are long load times on Switch which are made worse by all of the backtracking in the game.

Aaaand it's now back up almost 14% to 7,507...

It's got an "Overwhelmingly Positive" user rating on Steam, (the highest possible rating), with over 8,000 reviews.

And an "83" score on MetaCritic.

Satryn DX looks fun. I would be less interested if there were any way to actually buy Robotron instead.

So I did not purchase.

Now finding out that more multiplayer stages and multiplayer modes will be added dripfeed style?

I might end up picking this up eventually then...

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos
One of the best (but not VERY best) Neo Geo games. The main complaints against it is that it is not as good as the Capcom vs SNK games, and that it is very, wildly imbalanced. But if you're not too interested in playing it "seriously", on a tournament-type of level, then it's loads of fun with friends, with gorgeous pixel art.

A while ago I googled for lists of the best Neo Geo games. I looked for ranked lists at least 25 games long. I ended up finding 7 qualifying lists with 132 unique games and a total of 4102 separate entries.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos ended up the #30 best Neo Geo game, tied for #10 best fighter on the system.
